Speaker 1 (00:20):
Live from the Don's Appliances Studios, where Pittsburgh shops for appliances.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
This is WDV Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
First Responders rescue twenty seven passengers stuck on board the
mononga Hala incline in Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon. Sounds like
they had to bring like a fire ladder truck up.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Oh, man, I incline to help get that, and you gotta.
Speaker 5 (00:43):
Climb down like your orphan Annie.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Oh, it's making my hands sweat.
Speaker 6 (00:48):
Come on, I just think I'd have been like, yup,
I'm gonna swing down off.
Speaker 7 (00:53):
Swing turn off, turn off.
Speaker 6 (00:55):
The rails coming down.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Are Did you think they got a spaghetti?
Speaker 8 (01:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:05):
Could they get food to the carts.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
For four hours?
Speaker 7 (01:09):
Look, those people might have started eating each other.
Speaker 8 (01:11):
I didn't.
Speaker 9 (01:12):
Yeah, it's all of a sudden Burgers on a Sunday many.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
Part of your ass about half hour, didn take a
personal fight. You first drone us up some Permannies or
start cannibal.
Speaker 7 (01:27):
Wise Brendy Bellman and the DV Morning Show.
Speaker 6 (01:32):
Look, I can see that happening, is all I'm saying.
First four hours, there's a very really funny kids in
the Hall sketch where they have a guy on trial
about that, and they set it up like it's the
movie Alive, and he talks about being on the plane
and how harrowing it was.
Speaker 7 (01:47):
And then the lawyer's just like you.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
Were on a one hour delay on the tarmac. You
ain't half the play.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
I was hungry when I got onto the plane.
Speaker 7 (01:58):
You don't understand what was like. Look, we're going to
be there.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Everybody in this room, though, prioritize this food.
Speaker 7 (02:04):
I do, you know, I think about healthy relationship with food.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
I think Abby would have gum and snacks.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
So yeah, I'd have I'd have things for us.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
I'd tie us over for at least an hour.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I'd be prepared.
Speaker 7 (02:15):
She'd have some angry packets for us.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
You don't want to see me angry.
Speaker 7 (02:19):
Abby gets angry.
Speaker 10 (02:20):
I do.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
I get angry too, though, like I, And it's I'm
very open about it, like I have to eat now,
like it. When I have to eat, that's it's got
to happen. Then, yeah, you know, And.
Speaker 9 (02:33):
Then I'm I've never announced it. I do, but I
guess that it does happen for me too.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I will get very quiet when I'm hungry.
Speaker 6 (02:41):
If I'm traveling. Mm hmm, and like something goes awry,
we miss a meal. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no,
got to eat. No, I'm not travel days are the worst.
I'm not going to the Louver. No, I'm going to
that Arby's.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
I'm gonna love it on you if you don't get
some food right now.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Geenez Errator will be on a little bit later on
this morning Charlotte match as well, talking Steelers. I'm still
digesting and enjoying the Steelers win Sunday over the Colts.
Speaker 7 (03:11):
Even though it's incredible.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
Many people have seemed to excuse it away. Is just
some sort of like, well, the Colts were due to lose,
even though that's what I was saying last week. Yeah,
the Colts were due to lose, and you know, the
Steelers got lucky, and you know, you pointed out Bill
they didn't finish a lot of the you know, the drives,
and Aaron Rodgers did as well.
Speaker 7 (03:33):
I saw you you posted about that yesterday.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
And man that that had a lot of people really upset.
Speaker 9 (03:39):
And I don't know why because I'm not saying like
I wasn't being overtly negative old guy yelling at clouds
like we won and I'm still upset. I'm saying, there's
been a couple of games this year where we've had
five or more turnovers and have won those games by
only seven points.
Speaker 7 (04:00):
And I would like.
Speaker 9 (04:00):
To see us take that next step, yeah, to just
put teams away, like if your defense is turning the
ball over like that. They scored on four of six
of those those turnovers, but outside of those turnovers, they
created no offense for themselves.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
I agree, And Aaron is pissed about that. Their offense
is upset about that.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
I'm not saying anything that they're not pissed about.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Well, and we talked about yesterday. Their longest drives fifty
six yards, you know what I mean. It's not like
field all day. Yeah, they weren't throwing up eighty R drafts.
But I think the reason stuff like that hits people
in their fields is because you got you gotta give
some people a grace period on the win.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
It's very I don't even think you're being negative.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
I'm saying I usually experienced Steelers fans being negative right
after the win. Don't forget after two thousand and nine,
we win the Super Bowl. The first call on the
post game show on the Steelers audio network was I'll
tell you what. Next year, we got to shore up
(05:07):
that defense about I mean, not even a moment for
people to enjoy a Super Bowl win before. Someone was like,
you know, great win that, you know, super Bowl and everything,
but look, let's be honest.
Speaker 7 (05:21):
And then they get right to I am alarmed at
the play and Chuckie and Kobe you know, we gotta.
Speaker 9 (05:25):
Get better corners because we couldn't cover Larry Fitz in
a second half exactly.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
That was the excuse. Well, I don't know what Tomlin
was thinking. It's like he just won a Lombardi. So
you know, I'm used to Steeler fans crapping on a win,
but I think everybody was so upset after the consecutive
losses to the Bengals into Green Bay that people were
genuinely like, let me have this moment, let me have
(05:52):
this Colt swine sure at home, by the way, the
field's crap, garbage, and Warren slid a couple of times,
he fell a couple of times. I hate that field.
Speaker 9 (06:03):
But what I'm finding now, and maybe you guys agree
with this or don't, but it's there is a very
different version of Steeler fan like Steer Steeler Nation is
a spectrum, and the spectrum. The part of the spectrum
that I'm on is I'm a little cranky with how
they look. No matter what if they if they win
(06:27):
or a steel I still I'm looking for issues because
what I'm trying to do the whole time is I'm
stress testing against what a championship team looks like.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
In my own mind.
Speaker 9 (06:40):
If they don't meet the expectation that I think that
they should be playing at. If they're not playing discipline ball,
if if they're not tackling well, if they're not capitalizing
on turnovers, if they're not turning the ball over, you know,
if whatever it is, I'm looking at that and I'm thinking,
how will that do against the best teams in the league.
(07:00):
The game that's in front of us is almost irrelevant.
Speaker 7 (07:04):
So we all catch crap from people. I have to
tell you.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
I was in bed and like I'm like, all right,
I'm gonna check just the news a couple more times
here or whatever, and I'm scrolling and it's on the
for you. And because Bill's in my algorithm, somebody's response
to shut up, and I didn't see That's what I
saw that post, and the guy said, shut your dwee bass.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
There no no come on, so.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Shut up, shut a dwee bass.
Speaker 7 (07:34):
Black woman. That was a black woman. I didn't see that.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
I just shut your dewey mess up. And I laughed
so hard because sometimes people are so mean to you
in wait, like you know, I get that all the time.
Speaker 7 (07:49):
Oh yeah, I mean, but let think.
Speaker 9 (07:50):
Twitter in particular, it's just so disconnected from the real world.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Yeah, that makes it right here, shut your dowe mess up.
Speaker 7 (08:03):
Like you're not even saying anything. I didn't even say anything.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
That's the funniest part me laugh.
Speaker 9 (08:10):
It's like they're saying, why can't you just be happy
about the win. There's no part of the thing that
I said that I said I wasn't happy.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
Well here, this is like an interesting Twitter conversation because
what you were doing there is making one statement that
is parallel to many other statements that sum up the game.
It was not your entire summation of the game. It
(08:39):
was one factor, hey, something to consider.
Speaker 7 (08:43):
That's it.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
And everybody takes it as you're like my take on
this game right bad? And you like, I just said
such a such a dewe bass up, deep ass up
made me laugh so hard.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
Oh my god, just to do your best, I mean, minor.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
That's actually delightful compared to some of the stuff I actually,
if I ever dare go on Facebook, especially my god,
people are no. It's just there's knives out over there.
Speaker 9 (09:13):
It's bad, but it's it has nothing to do with anything.
It's just it's like you say, when everybody's chasing a
ball on a soccer field, it's just a it's little kids,
a traveling beehive and and it and it gets all
mixed up. But like I'm I'm actually really positive about
(09:34):
the Steelers if that defense keeps playing like that.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
Again, I'm using the close the four pit tunnel in
traffic got better analogy.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
Well let's see it for two games in a row.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
Yeah, Well, like they know they got Justin Herbert this Sunday,
a Sunday night game eight twenty in Los Angeles. No,
we used to do a character on the morning show
that was the anti Steeler. He was like positive about
everything and he annoyed the hell out of everyone. And
you know, it's just like, oh, no, everything's gonna be great.
We have the best team in a while. Tell They're like,
(10:05):
we just got our ass kick, you know, Coach Cavil,
he's not gonna let have it again.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
Because I knew somebody who was like that, and we'd
be at the tailgates, like, how.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Can this guy always be so positive about the team.
He just loved the Steelers so much. He could never
see anything bad in them, you know. And I don't
think there's any Pirates fans like that anymore.
Speaker 7 (10:23):
I was thinking about it.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
I think the only kind of Pirate fan is not
a hopeful Pirate fan, Like, they don't the order. Their
hope is so much different than a championship. Their hope
is for respectability. Yeah, they're like, god, I hope this
year it's not embarrassing, And that's just like being in
an abusive relationship down fan.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Yeah, the cup is empty, so it's easy to fill.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
And Penguins fans got pretty bummed o last night with
that third period. I don't know if you saw what
happened in Toronto, but that's brutal. I turned it on
at the start of the third period. That's when I
started watching. I'm like, sounds like the boys are having
a good game. Oh my crap, let me turn on
a game. Wham why and why and why am wham?
Speaker 7 (11:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Game over?
Speaker 7 (11:12):
They got absolutely trounced.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
What did it?
Speaker 7 (11:15):
End of four or five? What was it for?
Speaker 6 (11:16):
Okay, just a bad fourth period for Tristan Jari and company.
Speaker 7 (11:21):
Michael. Lot more than that coming up. Abby's got your news.
Now it's up.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
New is this hour brought to you by your neighborhood
Ford Store. Mostly Sunday today and high of sixty two.
So even though you may have gotten an extra hour
of sleep after falling back on Saturday night, you might
still be feeling groggy. Experts say that any change in
sleep patterns can be disruptive and you may still feel
out of it, and some are more affected by the clock.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Change than others.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
It still may take you up to apparently a week
to recover from this time change from the end of
daylight saving time. And there's a few tips that can
help your body adjust a little more easily. Here one
is sticking to your daily schedule, so don't change anything.
So you're just gonna look at the clock and you're
going to do things exactly at the time that you
(12:07):
would still do them.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
This one, and.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
It's a phrase that has kind of become innocuous at
this point is still go touch some grass.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
So I told you.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
Guys, I thought that was dirty the first time I
heard it.
Speaker 7 (12:20):
I didn't understand it. We're touch some grass, Go touch
some grass. I'm like, what the hell does that means?
Speaker 4 (12:25):
I don't want to touch your grass?
Speaker 7 (12:26):
I thought it meant pubes. I don't know why put
your finger on my grass?
Speaker 6 (12:29):
Yeah, that's why.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
I don't know. It's weird.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
It's not. It's actually just go touch some grass, connect
with them. Yeah, no, that's well, I don't know why
it could be. Try it sometime.
Speaker 7 (12:44):
Are you being forward?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Try to try to whisper it sometime and see if
it works.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
Telling you to get off the computer.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Oh right, Uh, it's mostly about getting outside, soaking up
some sunlight, or even just sitting by a window maybe
while you're working during the day, just catch some rays
and try to reset your body's internal clock.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
This early yesterday, it was a beautiful day, was it.
Speaker 8 (13:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
Some people told me it was a beautiful day yesterday.
Who knows outside, not not until it was already dark.
I'm like some of them.
Speaker 11 (13:14):
I had a four I haven't had a massage in
like over a year, and I had one yesterday at
like four o'clock, so it was like, get out of
that and it's just totally dark.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
You not go to bed right after a massage?
Speaker 9 (13:26):
Well, I used to get a on a regular massage.
I mean, be honest about what it is here.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
It's a it's a happy ending. No, it's a So how.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Did you not go to bed right after the massage?
Speaker 7 (13:38):
I asked the right question.
Speaker 6 (13:40):
She can't go on nineteen No, it's a uh, it's
almost like rolfing.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
I turned Bill onto this sous.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
She's the best, and she used to do a lot
of steelers and stuff, but she is not there for
you to have, Like I want to want to smell
some aroma therapy.
Speaker 7 (13:53):
I mean she she'll do that if that's what you want.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
You're gonna smell her knee, yeah, back of your neck,
like it's about getting everything untangled.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
But I will say, dude, after having those surgeries this year,
it's so different, Like I have none of the issues I.
Speaker 8 (14:05):
Used to have.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Really. Yeah, it's just because all that stuff.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
Was like getting seized up to protect my like hips
so my quads and back would be tight, and now
it's just like now it's pretty easy I used to
get when I went there.
Speaker 7 (14:16):
But is she still able to you? Or if I
want to be roffed? Yes? Did you want to be
rolf did yesterday?
Speaker 12 (14:22):
This is a touch grass thing is a kind of
like intense super deep yes, where you come out of
it and you're like.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Oh now, my antsome massage therapist.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
I go there for pain. I don't go there so
we can like smell Labner.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Yes, I book her after I have a show, but
normally I jack up my.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
Neck right so you know when they put like those
rocks on your back, you know sometimes in the rock
massages and stuff.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
She throws them at you.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
That's how totally.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, No, I always kind of approached it that way.
There was a long long time ago before my aunt
was like officially you know, kind of threw all of
her classes and certified and had her own spot and
everything like that. There was somebody that I used to
go to that was like a chiropractor and massage therapy.
So they'd do chiropractic first and then they'd massage you
and it was painful.
Speaker 7 (15:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:21):
I used to do that where I would go from
the massage to the chiropractor because my muscles would be
like loose, and I felt like they could really get
a good crack on your back, you know what I mean,
double it up?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Well, yeah, because then it holes.
Speaker 7 (15:35):
Yeah right, well that's it theoretically you'd think so.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
But yeah, I mean that's what they said at least,
and I'm like, I'm whatever, mess me up?
Speaker 7 (15:42):
Yeah right, go anyways, touch grass.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Touch grass.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Continuing with this, it says avoid taking naps. It's very
tempting to try to use that to get.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Back on track.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Here, twenty seven minutes on your phone.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
Twenty seven minutes, twenty seven that's what.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
All the studies say.
Speaker 6 (15:59):
Sleep under twenty seven minutes, you don't get into full
rem It like powers you up for the rest of
the day without making you do the whole wake up
cycle again. And that's what screws you up to sleep
later in the day.
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Now, that's not to say I.
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Haven't done full on like ninety minute like head in
between couch cushions.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Now is the seven minutes for the fretting and the
anxiety before you get to the tour.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
I usually put it at thirty, figuring it takes me
three to fall asleep at least, and then I get
a full twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Yeah, wow, I cushion for anxiety, because once I decide
I'm going to sleep, I have to panic about not
sleeping fast enough.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
I think I'm too I think as I've gotten older,
the stress and anxiety part before you fall asleep. I'm
just too tired for it. Oh yeah, I still have it,
but I'm just like I have to sleep right through it.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Yeah, well that's something to look forward.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
I'm too tired to be stressed out.
Speaker 13 (16:53):
Well.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
The Sleep Foundation recommends having a steady sleep schedule for
your regular sleep, having a regular bedtime routine, avoiding cappinge
in the afternoon and evenings, not doom scrolling, and using
a sleep mask and ear plugs.
Speaker 6 (17:10):
I do have a sleep mask, but I don't need
it on school nights. I only use it on the
weekend because the light appearing in the morning. But we
get when it's you know. But I asked crack dark out.
Speaker 7 (17:21):
There, you know?
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, Sam, I can't be too comfortable on the school
nights or also, I won't get up.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
And ear plugs.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
I feel like is irresponsible if you're a parent, you
know what I mean. Yeah, I don't want the kids
to be screaming for help, and I just can't hear
them because I'm trying to get eight solid hours.
Speaker 8 (17:40):
Help.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
It's all.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I'm late for school.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Mostly Sunday today.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
I have sixty two Michael, your full sports report coming
up here in just a little bit. The Steelers heading
out to Well, I almost I always want to say,

Speaker 4 (18:08):

Speaker 6 (18:10):
Los Angeles Chargers, the team that has no fans.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Somehow, I mean, they're good. They are good.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
It's give me a tough one for the Steelers in
eight twenty kickoff here.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
That means four point thirty.
Speaker 6 (18:23):
The pregame starts on the flagship station DVE with Tom
Offerman and Matt Williamson. Pursuit of Labs and Jerry Dulac

The Penguins were well on their way to continuing to
write what has been an unlikely story so far in
the young hockey season, leading the Toronto Maple Leafs three
to nothing after two periods, two more goals for eighteen
year old rookie Ben Kindall his fourth and fifth of
the season, Eric Carlson's first of the year, but there
(19:45):
were still twenty minutes to play. Unfortunately, and in period
number three, disaster struck was that trying.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
To muscle it through.
Speaker 17 (19:53):
Riley sends it wide to the net, goes over to
the far corner. Robertson gets it in front of Pickering,
fired a shot say by John a second attempt they scored.
Bobby mcmahn with the loose change in run in Toronto
has scored four goals and a four to three lead
over the Penguins with six seventeen to go.
Speaker 11 (20:12):
Now four goals in ten minutes and twelve seconds. Penguins
have been great defensively most of this year. It had
been great in third periods most of this year. Not
last night, no one that got away. But I hope
they don't miss the playoffs by one point.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
I will say that the response, at least in social
media was surprising to me. How many people are so
invested in this Penguins team so early in a year
that was supposed to just be a you know, everything's
gonna suck this year and it's rebuilding. But people's expectations
for this team have changed drastically in the first three weeks.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Yeah, that might be dangerous. It's it's still pretty early.
Speaker 8 (20:55):
I know.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
But do you agree with me though that, like totally.
Speaker 11 (20:58):
Oh yeahs of the expectation absolutely.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
I think that's performance based.
Speaker 9 (21:02):
I mean, they came out looking so good, playing so structured,
and then everybody's like, well wait a minute, yeah.
Speaker 11 (21:07):
You've got a couple of young guys that look really intriguing.
You got a new coach, it's kind of a reset, right,
But boy, last night sure looked familiar in terms of
how they've played the last several seasons. Just bad, defensively
bad and third periods and bad winning. Brian Russ had
an assist last night. He was minus three at Getting
(21:29):
Malkin had an assist. He was minus two. Sydney Cross
we had an assist. He was minus too. Philip Hollander
didn't have anything and he was minus two. Penn's will
be back home on Thursday nights take on the Washington Capitals.
This is the first time they've lost consecutive games in
regulation since October eleventh and fourteenth. So if it's a
(21:52):
one off, sobit happens in the NHL all the time, But.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
Be interesting to see how they respond.
Speaker 9 (21:58):
I mean, it's not an excuse, Mike, I mean, Carlson
said after the game. This is like the fatigue of
a long road trip. They had a lapse and hopefully
they'll learn from it.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Yeah, that was.
Speaker 11 (22:10):
They had played at Philly, at Minnesota, and at Winnipeg
prior to at Toronto last night, and Toronto's a pretty
good regular season team. Just don't want to let this
kind of stuff snowball nippit, nippit in the bus Defensi
Cats Thursday night at the Rink, Arizona Pat Dallas twenty
seven seventeen on Monday Night Football last night, Cardinals is
(22:33):
three and five. Cowboys fall to three five and one
Cardinals the best I said last week, they're the best
two and five team I've ever seen it. Their best
three and five team going. Uh them, it's the year
of the veteran drop back pass or that knows what
he's doing, yep. And he's just activating the tight end
(22:54):
and he's activating their offense and.
Speaker 7 (22:56):
Marvin Harrison Junior. They look good.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (22:58):
George Pickens had six catches on nine targets for seventy
nine yards for the Cowboys. He also got a penalty
after one of his catches for waving the ball because
you know, George has to do something to shine a
light on George.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
I still think that that stuff's entertaining and they should
let him do it.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
But that's just me. Well, I think they're worried that
there'd be massive fights eventually. Will oh, there will be.
Speaker 9 (23:24):
They keep losing like they're going to see the George
Pickens we know in love.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Yeah, but I think he's referring to the people beating
up George Pickens when he puts the ball in there, anybody.
Speaker 11 (23:33):
I mean, the taunting is going to lead to brawling,
no question. At least that's the theory, and I think
good theory. Steelers released quarterback bean Beanie Bishop from the
practice squad yesterday, Jeremy Fowl reporting that Marquez Valdez Scantling
is on his way here excellent. Valdez Scantling said to
(23:55):
finally join the Steelers practice squad that has been anticipated.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
For about a week now. Can't hurt.
Speaker 11 (24:00):
He's veteran down the field guy who has a history
with Aaron Rodgers, and maybe they need him, maybe they don't.
Maybe they do something more significant wide receiver by four
o'clock today, Maybe they do something as safety.
Speaker 7 (24:13):
Thats what I'm saying is I don't I'm not worried
about this or anything.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
I don't think it's like good or bad necessarily yet,
just noting that this is the first time Aaron Rodgers
did the thing that he did with the Jets where
he's like, go get my friend. Yeah, it's just how
it starts.
Speaker 11 (24:33):
Just just just pointing it out. I'm not I'm just saying,
what's I like about it?
Speaker 7 (24:39):
They have a gateway move.
Speaker 6 (24:41):
Maybe maybe he has a history with Roger drol Wizard
might be here next I don't know.
Speaker 11 (24:45):
And if he ever gets in a real game with
the active roster, they can put him out wide and
the other team's not going to say, oh, we got
to double cover that guy's right.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
Yeah, yeah, you don't worry about him. And then maybe
they'll get some one on ones down.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
The field, yeah, and can drop some some beautiful throws
from Aaron.
Speaker 9 (25:04):
So you don't think that they're they're going to go
out and get any of the big name receivers that
are out there, the Jacobi Meyers, the the Wattles of
the world.
Speaker 11 (25:12):
I don't think they're gonna do anything that risks what
they think is enough draft capital to trade up for
a quarterback next year. Now, maybe you get one of
those guys without doing that.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (25:27):
Did that change.
Speaker 9 (25:28):
Did that strategy change at all with the news that
maybe Aaron's coming back next year.
Speaker 11 (25:34):
I wouldn't think that it would. I haven't talked to
anybody about that, but that would actually be the ideal scenario.
I could draft somebody and have them say four.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
But two things have happened since then, one of them
being the Star Blue Chipper. Quarterbacks coming out of the
college ranks haven't been so great.
Speaker 7 (25:58):
No, well, there's been some great ones.
Speaker 11 (26:00):
They're just different than everybody said they were. The Steeler, Yes,
the kid from Indiana standing. The kid, to me, looks outstanding.
I don't care about arch Manning, but it doesn't that
it is hurt. But we also lost some draft stock. Well,
the Cup, the compensatory stuff is in flux because of
(26:23):
Nag you're not playing and Russell Wilson not playing. It's
gonna change right from what it was originally anticipated.
Speaker 7 (26:29):
Russell Wilson was on cameo. Now, no, I didn't. What
the hell is he doing on cameo? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
It doesn't make any sense, just being mister m I
figured he's just it's the only way you can get
people to talk with him for a year, like, Hey,
it's okay, don't worry.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
About your dog. He's gonna be great.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
Grandma died, Grandmama, Yeah, unlimited.
Speaker 11 (26:54):
Did Yeah, funeral here more to the here and now
steels good, ready to go to LA to face the Chargers,
and they won't have to worry about left tackle Joe
Alt season ending surgery for a high ankle sprains the Stargers.
(27:14):
The Chargers, excuse me, starting right tackle Rashaan Slater is
also already gone because of a season ending injury, and
the guy who was replacing Slater, Bobby Hart, also known
in NFL circles as the human Turnstile, had to leave
the Chargers game against the Titans in the first quarter.
(27:36):
So uh yeah, whiplash windburn. They're gonna be down to
maybe their fourth and fifth offensive tackles against the team
that has suddenly found its pass rush mojo again and
maybe might be playing in a home road game.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
So if I usually fills up with terrible towels.
Speaker 11 (27:58):
They can they make the Chargers go to this silent
count at home with their fourth and fifth offensive tackles.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Look, you know, the downline and getting some push was big,
and Cano Benton had a big game, and Cam and
Derek Harmon, and if they can do that again with
the rush that they're getting on the edges right now
out of all three of those guys and even Jack Sawyer. Well,
I mean Jack Sawyer ended up with a pick in
that game, which was you know, caused by Peyton Wilson.
You know, they're getting great play from their front seven,
(28:25):
or they got great play I should say against a
good team, Yes, good offensive Well they can do that
against the beleaguer team. Now, I just want to remind
you the last time we played a terrible offensive line,
didn't go didn't go so well. In fact, we made
them look like they were the Hogs from the eighty
three Redskins.
Speaker 11 (28:44):
Instead they were the Bengals who stink. Yes, yeah, all
that has been hurd a couple of times this year.
Chargers are four and oh when he starts and plays
an entire game, they're two and three. When he either
leaves early or doesn't play at all. That is a
well he's not gonna play at all, but that is
a huge developing story for the Chargers. Ravens added an
(29:07):
edge rusher in advanced to the trade deadline.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
Time actually being at the game. Draymont Jones. I can't
watch this from Tennessee.
Speaker 11 (29:17):
Six and eighty one pounds former third round pick out
in Denver, Baltimore gives up a conditional fifth round pick
Draymont Jones has four and a half sacks this year,
including a sack for the Titans in four consecutive games.
He's got thirty five in his career. Career high was
six and a half with Denver in twenty twenty two.
Baltimore has eleven sacks this season, second fewest, tied for
(29:41):
the second fewest in the NFL, and Baseball announcing it's
awards finalist yesterday. Paul Skeen's one of three finalists for
the National League Cy Young Award. The others are Christopher
Sanchez of the Phillies and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the admiral from
the Dodgers. I think they do the voting on this
before the playoffs for Skiing's sake.
Speaker 7 (30:03):
I hope they do right.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
Best World Series pitching performance ever, Jack Morris, y'all, Momoto
had two complete games.
Speaker 7 (30:13):
Yeah, I know what he did.
Speaker 11 (30:15):
Came back and played in Game seven. Steve there's there's
a lot of great pitching performance. I mean, back in
the day, guys used to pitch three games, and I
mean Steve Blast pitched three games. He won two complete games,
and yeah, Bob Gibson did it. Mickey, Lolitch did it
used to be a regular thing? Your your number one
(30:36):
guy pitched three games?
Speaker 7 (30:37):
It was. It was phenomenal and coming out of the
pen was phenomenal. Yeah, best ever, certainly in the modern era.
Speaker 9 (30:44):
Like a lot of this stuff I'm just thinking of
in our lifetime or in live ball era.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Yeah, na as a Bumgarner twenty fourteen.
Speaker 11 (30:53):
Blast had good point. Jacob look up blasts seventy one stats.
Speaker 7 (30:58):
We two complete gamesridiculous.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
He didn't pitch three games in that series, didn't he?
I don't believe. So I'm pretty sure he just had
two complete wins. We can find out. We have computers.
Speaker 7 (31:10):
Abby's got just coming up at the top.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Breaking news this morning. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has
passed away at the age of eighty four.
Speaker 11 (31:17):
I gotta be honest, I thought he had passed. I
don't know why, Like, and I was like, oh my god,
I forgot. He used to still around. Yeah, that guy
defied death longer than name.
Speaker 7 (31:28):
But didn't have like eight heart surgeries. Yeah, while he
was in office, he had.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
He had multiple d He hung on for a long time.
The Christian Bale portrayal of Dick Cheney in that movie.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Wow, that was the first thing that I thought of.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
I know, there's a lot of things to think of
with Dick Cheney, but that was one of the first
things that came to mind.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Because I'm apparently a lizard person.
Speaker 7 (31:51):
I don't know, well, I mean he is.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
He was one of the rare people that when he
left office in this day and age, he disappeared completely.
He just went to Jackson Hole and like, you know,
lived out in the woods and just you know, worked
from there, you know, and didn't go on Fox and
you know, any other like Meet the Press or anything
like that.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
So he just never saw him.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
Right, and he could hunt freely.
Speaker 11 (32:18):
Two complete games for Blass Right eighteen in two runs
allowed one.
Speaker 7 (32:24):
I'm usable.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
Shoot.
Speaker 6 (32:28):
We forgot to call mister Blast last week.
Speaker 7 (32:31):
I really.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
He and I talked and he wanted to come on
because I wished him happy anniversary on the anniversary of
Game seven, and he said, maybe we can talk World Series.
Speaker 7 (32:39):
You know what.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna text them now.
Speaker 11 (32:42):
I'm trying to get a box young and World Series
and yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna get.
Speaker 18 (32:50):

Speaker 7 (34:18):
It is the DV Morning Show.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
Brady Bauman along with Phil Crawford, Abbey Chrisner, Mike Persuda,
Checkobreack to our producer Miss Tackles. Segment we do where
we just talk about the stories that we didn't get
to after the Steelers went around the NFL. How about
this one? A brand new NFL record for longest field
goal sixty eight yards away. It's up there, it's out there.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
And it's God, it's gone for sixty.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
Eight Cam Little we saw him do in the preseason
sixty eight yards.
Speaker 7 (34:52):
The new NFL record.
Speaker 6 (34:54):
It seemed destined to happen this year, and so he
beats out Justin Tucker, who's used to being well never mind,
So sixty eight is the new record.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
And guess what he gets back in his locker after
that game.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
Guess what was waiting for him the NFL. The NFL
has he made him aware that he needs to take
a drug test. He's like, are you kidding me? Right
after that.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
I think there's something going on with the fact that
these kickers are obviously allowed to have the k ball
before the game now and they don't have to kick
those really plastic key balls. They can scratch him up
and they used to, I'm telling you, yeah, they used
to just beat the hell out of him back and.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
The choke him a little bit.
Speaker 6 (35:38):
It's kind of yeah, give him some Marv Albert treatment
and then wear them in and the proof is in
all of these bombs. Somebody tried a seventy yarder, and
I think what the Cowboys kicker try last week?
Speaker 11 (35:51):
He tried six sixty eight right down the first half.
He missed it, but he had the distance. Yeah, he
was wide left right.
Speaker 9 (35:57):
He had like a sixty four yarder, maybe even this year,
but definitely last year.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
These guys are crazy. Guys are hitting bombs. In other news,
the Jets, they had a bye week last week. They're
getting ready to play the Browns this weekend. But Aaron
Glenn is constantly under fire as the head coach of
the Jets because the way he handles the team with
the media, and somebody was like, hey, maybe do you
think it would be a good idea to support one
quarterback instead of like never talking about who's going to
(36:24):
start this week and leaving it up in the air.
I want to go back to the quarterback thing again.
Speaker 10 (36:28):
So obviously you want to keep it secret for as
long as possible for whatever you know, competitive reasons. But
I'm wondering, wouldn't doesn't it help the quarterback's confidence when
the coach comes out and says, you're my guy.
Speaker 20 (36:42):
It helped the quarterback confidence when the player and the
coach talk and they.
Speaker 8 (36:45):
Know who the guy is.
Speaker 21 (36:46):
Not that I'm telling it to you, guys, that has
nothing to do with the player's confidence.
Speaker 22 (36:50):
So basically, are you kind of saying that you know
whomever is going to start knows his status as he
practices throughout the week this.
Speaker 7 (36:59):
Week, and that'd be bring me in the player.
Speaker 8 (37:02):
But any okay.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Doing it well, I'm just kind of curious.
Speaker 19 (37:12):
The same question, and I can give you the same answer.
Speaker 22 (37:15):
I am just curious, though, a g what is the
what what is the competitive advantage or disadvantage for a
team not knowing which of these two guys is playing?
Speaker 7 (37:24):
My own reasons.
Speaker 6 (37:26):
Because just because I said so, now you're talking about
Justin Fields or Torot Taylor, right, I mean it's not.
Speaker 7 (37:35):
It's not It's not Josh Jellen or Pat Yeah.
Speaker 9 (37:39):
Yeah, it's like I said in my pick six last week,
they won't know until kickoff if the Jets are gonna
suck or blow. Yeah, right, it's it's it's ridiculous. I
think he doesn't know.
Speaker 6 (37:52):
I think that's what they're trying to call him on there.
You know, Oh boy, I had hot on the record,
He's had Yes, No, he's not handling the New York media.
The New York media is a different beast, as you know,
and if you handle it the way he is, you
are making it way harder on yourself than you need to.
He already had an uphill battle going to the Jets.
(38:13):
I wanted him to turn it around. I thought it
was going to be a fun story. Age as they
like to call him, which that's some balls on that guy.
I'd call him coach, you know. Just while he said
he's well, maybe he's just getting ahead of the story,
you know, like yeah, he g it just feels a
little too friendly coach and speaking to Aaron, I.
Speaker 7 (38:33):
Think that too.
Speaker 9 (38:33):
He's been getting bad press since how he dealt with
Rogers like that. That interaction didn't age well. You know,
if people were fed up with how Rogers.
Speaker 7 (38:44):
I never thought of it. That stunned me.
Speaker 11 (38:46):
You reminded me of that, because if Rogers was forthcoming,
and should we assume he was when he said Aaron
Glenn told him, I don't want the team looking around
when I talk to the team, I don't want them
looking back at you. That's how what little confidence he
had that he would be able to grab these guys
attention and get them to pay attention.
Speaker 6 (39:05):
There, well, I get I think that was a harbinger
of what was to come in terms of a leadership
style that is ineffective in the NFL. Speaking of that,
Dan Quinn of the Commanders being criticized for leaving Jayden
Daniels in garbage time against the Seahawks the other night.
They were down thirty eight to seven in the fourth quarter,
seven minutes left of the game. He's still had him
(39:26):
in and he suffered a brutal injury. People are like,
why didn't you have Marcus Mariota in?
Speaker 8 (39:30):
Then?
Speaker 6 (39:31):
Coach Quinn or DQ as I like to call him,
he said, yeah, that was dumb.
Speaker 7 (39:38):
Yeah, we can get rolling.
Speaker 18 (39:40):
I know many of you have been asking about the
thought process of Jaden being in the game in that situation.
I get that. I've been thinking about honestly NonStop too.
And you know, for me, the answers, man, I missed it.
I would you know, up fill you on my thought
process at started the fourth core, I guess it was
probably like twelve hours half minutes left in the game,
(40:01):
and that was gonna be the last drive for a
couple of guys Jayden and Zach and Debo and LT
and so we're gonna have any Reid run plays and
uh meaning no carries you know for the quarterback on
a run. And honestly, man, that's where I missed it.
Of course he could scramble.
Speaker 7 (40:17):
It's Jaden.
Speaker 18 (40:17):
It's what he's special at and that is one hundred
percent that's on me.
Speaker 7 (40:21):
And uh.
Speaker 18 (40:22):
I also said last night sounds like pressure to our
fans that man, we miss our mark as a team
and uh, with that performance, we need to fix it.
They created an awesome environment, uh, you know at stadium
for the game, and uh, that fix needs to be done,
needs to be done now.
Speaker 11 (40:37):
So I can't believe they got d BO and LT
and they were down thirty eight to seven.
Speaker 7 (40:42):
That's the story.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
Nobody's talking about DEBO different LT defense.
Speaker 7 (40:49):
You know, I saw something speaking of LT. How many
points would they give up without Debo and LT?
Speaker 6 (40:55):
I saw something on reels where like, I hate that
AI is doing this now. It was an actual interview
with Lawrence Taylor, right, and he's like someone asked him
who's the goat and he's like, y'all want me to
say Brady, it's not it's Joe Montana. And then it
kicks into a I Lawrence Taylor talking and then it's
(41:18):
all highlights of Joe Montana, so you don't see that
it's not Lawrence Taylor talking.
Speaker 7 (41:24):
And the reason I knew.
Speaker 6 (41:25):
Is because it was the most academic breakdown of why
Joe Montana was better than Tom Brady, And I was
like so pissed because I wanted to hear what LT
actually said in this realm. Why because he was a
bad Mamma janma, That's why, you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (41:43):
It would have just been I'll tell you that I
told you before. My brother was a red one.
Speaker 6 (41:50):
My brother in law and my brother Charlie played with
LT eighteen holes in a like you know, a tournament
where you got paired up with a celebrity and somebody
had paid a lot of money for it. They won.
They're foursome one. They went to the dinner, they got
a trophy. They were partying with LT. My brother in law,
diehard Giants guy grew up in New York, just couldn't
(42:12):
believe it. Greatest night of his life hanging out with LT.
Speaker 7 (42:14):
Party.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
All right, LT, great man, what a day.
Speaker 8 (42:16):
See you later.
Speaker 6 (42:17):
You know, there are some the Hollywood Casino down in Florida.
All right, man, we'll see you later, you know, thanks
for everything. They go back to the rooms, they go
to bed. They have an early flight. The next morning,
my brother and my brother in law are walking to
the casino. LT is still sitting at the tables and
they're like, oh man, LT took it deep. And so
they go over and they're like, LT Man, we're taking off,
but thanks for everything. He's like, who are you guys?
(42:39):
Had no idea who they were, no idea.
Speaker 7 (42:42):
Who they were. This isn't years later.
Speaker 6 (42:46):
Next morning, Oh wow, who are you guys?
Speaker 23 (42:49):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (42:50):
Absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 7 (42:52):
CT is real man.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Steve Spagnolo. When the Chiefs played the Giants or the
I'm sorry Josh Allen and the Bills the other night,
he met him before the game and had a wish
for Josh Allen. Yeah, I don't want to play you
anymore once you retired.
Speaker 7 (43:09):
That was after the game.
Speaker 6 (43:11):
Oh that was after Okay, yeah, I'm sick of playing you, man.
I get why. Yeah, after that. One doesn't go well
in the regular season. Mahomes is uh hail Mary. Wasn't
much of a prayer? Was it his arm strength? Sometimes
I wonder about I don't know. People seem to love
Mahomes and think that he's not declined at all.
Speaker 7 (43:32):
You know, they're out of the playoffs as we speak.
You know that'll change.
Speaker 11 (43:36):
That's crazy. I think it'll change too, But that is crazy.
Like if the season ended today.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
Yeah, we love that.
Speaker 9 (43:41):
Some of the best teams in the league from last
year are not really in it right now, the Ravens
being another one of them.
Speaker 6 (43:49):
Well, there's a couple more stories, but we're running late,
so maybe we'll get to him later. Steve Blast got
back to me. We're going to try to get Steve
on today. Love it around eight o'clock perfect, I hope, so,
he said. He gave me a couple of times and
then said, or even tomorrow will work. So I'm maybe
it'll change mine, but I hope we'll get him on
to talk about that because I'm interested to hear what
he thought about that World Series.
Speaker 5 (44:08):
Oh my god, we.
Speaker 9 (44:09):
Didn't get a talk just from a pitching standpoint. Ye,
Yamamoto stuff. The show, Hey game, the rookie you savage?
Speaker 11 (44:18):
Yeah, well, you know it's wild and I didn't even
think of this watching it. The guy that was out
by an inch at home plate, if he just stands
up and run, he doesn't slide it, it's over. Yeah,
ikf but nobody ever does that.
Speaker 8 (44:31):
No.
Speaker 7 (44:31):
Yeah, that was Isaiah kinder Falfa.
Speaker 9 (44:33):
Yeah, that would have been the craziest trajectory ever.
Speaker 6 (44:38):
He was so miserable with the Pirates and then to
score the winning run in the World Series. Maybe some
of that pirate's stank made him slide there just enough,
just enough stank on him.
Speaker 19 (44:46):

Speaker 24 (45:00):
The Steelers defense on Sunday afternoon for six takeaways and
sacked Colts quarterback Dingram Jones five times as they effectively
shut down the NFL's number one offense for most of
the game. Perhaps even more impressive than the number of
turnovers the defense was able to force against the team
that had only turned the ball over four times this
season heading into the game was the defense's ability to
successfully shut down the NFL's leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor. Taylor
(45:23):
was coming off a performance where he ran for one
hundred and fifty three yards on just twelve carries against
the Titans, but he was held to his lowest rushing
total of the season so far by the Steelers. The
defense held the All Pro Improbable offensive player of the
Year to just forty five yards on fourteen carries and
held Taylor out of the end zone for the first
time in four games. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will
(45:43):
address the media today for his weekly press conference and
will provide updates on the state of the team as
they turn the page and begin to get ready for
a trip to the West Coast to take on the
LA Chargers on Sunday Night Football.
Speaker 7 (45:55):

The Sleep Foundation recommends having a steady sleep schedule for
your regular sleep, having a regular bedtime routine, avoiding capping
in the afternoon and evenings, not doom scrolling, and using
a sleep mask and ear plugs.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
I do have a sleep mask, but I don't need
it on school nights. I only use it on the
weekend because the light appearing in the morning. But we
get when it's you know, ass crack dark out.
Speaker 3 (46:41):
There, you know, Yeah, Sam, I can't be too comfortable.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
On the school nights or also I won't get.
Speaker 9 (46:46):
Up and ear plugs. I feel like is irresponsible if
you're a parent. I don't want the kids to be
screaming for help and I just can't hear them because
I'm trying to get eight solid hours.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
Help.
Speaker 7 (46:58):
It's awesome, Ted, he's got the guns in her room.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
Away for school.
Speaker 7 (47:13):
It's Tuesday, Brandy Bellman and the DV Morning Show. You're
not allowed to do anything as a parent.
Speaker 6 (47:20):
You have to be on high alert all the time,
all the ti until there's like there's like an age
where I think you finally get to like, what is
it like fifteen they turned fifteen?
Speaker 7 (47:31):
You got problems?
Speaker 8 (47:32):
Then?
Speaker 7 (47:33):
Yeah, yeah, out of the house.
Speaker 9 (47:36):
No, But like the first five years you are like
a lifeguard at a wave pool where nobody can swim. Yeah,
so you're on you like you can't have a conversation.
Every conversation is a cliffhanger because you're looking.
Speaker 7 (47:54):
No, I hear what you say. But where is she? Yeah?
Where they go?
Speaker 8 (47:59):
Right?
Speaker 7 (47:59):
Oh, they're playing next to the traffic.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
You're half having a conversation and wiping a booger with
another army yours both Yes.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
But now I'm still.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
I mean even now Edie's nine, and even the sleep
things not a lock because I remember learning this when
Bill and I were doing our parent cast that when
kids are even going through a developmental burst, like a
(48:35):
new skill set is emerging, they will have major disruptions
in their sleep.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
So all of those annoying things that happen.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
With parents whre kids are like I can't sleep, I
can't sleep, I can't sleep, and you're just thinking.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Like, why are you messing with me right now?
Speaker 3 (48:47):
It almost might be, if you want to look at
it in a positive way, that they are basically on
the cusp of some kind of breakthrough, like they're learning
a new skill set. They might be getting like some
kind of like new emotional skill set, they might be
on an academic skill set that they're that they're kind
of again.
Speaker 7 (49:04):
Still wrestling with exactly.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
So it's it's there's a positive side of that that
you can kind of glean, but at the same time,
you still have to ride that wave. And and now
I'm getting you know, she is in my room all
the time through like eleven thirty. She's just like one
more thing and I'm really sorry, and sorry, I'm really sorry.
Speaker 7 (49:30):
I apology.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
She does, like, we're we're kind of in this thing
where I'm recognizing I.
Speaker 4 (49:38):
I just I'm in a codependent relationship with her. I
never yelled.
Speaker 7 (49:42):
Aren't you supposed to be in a codependent relationship? I don't.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
I don't know you and.
Speaker 6 (49:48):
I talked about this a couple of weeks ago that
like the phrase codependency, it's overusing and often incorrectly and incorrectly.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Yes, this is what I have understood to me.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
It is when someone else who you are in a
relationship with does not have the capacity to regulate their
emotions in a way that requires you to then regulate
their emotions, which then makes your behavior. You have to
(50:21):
become smaller to accommodate them, and so it is a
mismatch of your own demeanor, and then you have to
like kind of change and adjust your life to accommodate them.
So their inability to cope basically determines the temperature of
(50:42):
the household, if you will. So, like somebody who let's
say had addiction issues, would be somebody that you know
likely has a codependency in their relationship because their their
inability to cope with big emotions is likely a source
of their addiction right right.
Speaker 7 (51:00):
Full dependency.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
So because of that, you know, dependency, they.
Speaker 4 (51:07):
Just love my rents.
Speaker 7 (51:16):
My husband is cope dependent.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
He makes up every morning.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
But because of that, like the their emotions are so
big that you have to get smaller to accommodate, and
you like don't want to upset them because then then
you know, things go off the rails. So when I
jokingly say that I'm in a codependent relationship with my daughter,
there's parts of it that are kind of true because
like I won't like I'm trying to avoid the fights.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
I'm trying to avoid the explosion.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
Guarantee no, because sometimes I got my mom and my
dad going, like make it hard for her.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
Every once in a while, what are we doing here?
Speaker 7 (51:58):
I will say that she is considered.
Speaker 9 (52:00):
Yesterday or two days ago, she called you to ask
if she could text you.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
That is hilarious that it was literally yesterday. She was like,
my phone's ringing. She's like, I text you.
Speaker 6 (52:11):
I'm Mike.
Speaker 7 (52:16):
That's so funny.
Speaker 6 (52:17):
I apologize in advance.
Speaker 7 (52:18):
Yeah, can I text you?
Speaker 8 (52:20):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (52:22):
All right?
Speaker 6 (52:22):
Well, I will say the one thing about the younger
kids is we did a ramble. A couple of weeks ago,
and three of the guys are new fathers, and every
one of them was super sick.
Speaker 7 (52:34):
There's like it's just you're just sick all the time.
Everybody send them off to a Petri dish.
Speaker 6 (52:40):
Yes, there's there's a daycare or school.
Speaker 9 (52:43):
Yeah, think of how like disgusting A kid is honestly
running nose constantly, Like they're not covering their mouth, they're
not doing any protocols, they're not distancing.
Speaker 7 (52:52):
No, there's no handwashing.
Speaker 8 (52:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (52:55):
Yeah, they're crawling all over each other, licking each other's faces.
Speaker 6 (52:58):
Well, in their immune system is like just learning, right,
so they like they take on every bug right, like
it's like a fresh palate, so every bug hits them
and then they're like, oh, okay, well we've learned.
Speaker 7 (53:09):
How to deal with this and we'll knock it down
in the future. But right now, yes, yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
Listen, everything in this room is particle board, so I
can't knock on wood. But at the same time, Eadie
going into daycare at six months old and having gone
for as long as she did, she was sick every day,
And I was thinking about that actually this morning, because
the moon was so beautiful and every time I see
the moon. I think of her as a little baby
(53:35):
because she always used to go like dumb moo.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
And so every time I see the moon, I always good.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
Moon, because she would get miron coat, did that and
myron cope always he said, at moon.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
She used to get crouped so frequently.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
Okay, it was non stop and one of the best
things to do for that and you know, wake up
at two in the morning with croup, which is terrifying
his parent because it sounds so awful. But if you
put her in a coat, take her onto the deck
and just sit outside in the cold and let that, like,
just let.
Speaker 7 (54:07):
It work out the rut there for a few hours,
go watch a movie.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
Yeah, like, well, I don't know, I'm gonna go watch
Day or but she would look up and she'd be
like the man but so like, but she got sick
so much that she never gets sick.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
Now, Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 5 (54:26):
That's how it's done.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
Besides done.
Speaker 6 (54:28):
Yeah, ever since they got us out of the closet
studio DV, we all stopped getting each other sick. There
was like, oh man, the original DV studio, What I mean,
we're not exactly in a palatial estate now, but the
original DV studio was. We were right on top of
each other, and it was like everybody got If someone
got sick, it was like some of them because you
(54:51):
just knew you were gonna get sick in like two days.
Speaker 9 (54:53):
Do you remember those microphones, I mean they were It
was like, I feel like there was a cold in
there from Jimmy and.
Speaker 6 (54:59):
Steve gave me the flame.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
Didn't get each other sick with the booger wall in
the bathroom.
Speaker 7 (55:11):
And I would take that bathroom over the one. We
have to use.
Speaker 6 (55:15):
Now your hands and it maybe one of those sins
will work.
Speaker 5 (55:22):
They have nice urinal cakes in this one.
Speaker 6 (55:25):
They have to because this toilet stone flush.
Speaker 9 (55:27):
They have like little like like ergonomic gelling pads to
stand on y pell pee all.
Speaker 7 (55:36):
Over the ups. Guys come in here and just whizz.
Speaker 9 (55:39):
You can't do anything about that. But that last bathroom,
come on, man, that was all right.
Speaker 6 (55:44):
That was It did at one point have an eruption
in it where black sludge came out of the ground
and the sink and the sinks and it covered all
of it. Not great, no, that that was great. But
it happened in the women's room too. I believe there was.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
A there was a toilet that just wouldn't stop flushing
in the women's room.
Speaker 4 (56:06):
It was just a constant water fountain where you just
walk in.
Speaker 6 (56:08):
And it was always failing. Yeah, but I was like,
that's our water feature.
Speaker 7 (56:12):
It was a tourist attraction.
Speaker 4 (56:13):
Yeah, you could walk in.
Speaker 6 (56:14):
Yes, Like what do we do in Pittsburgh, Well, you
go to a falling water, you go to the war
All Museum, the never ending toilet and Green Trek.
Speaker 7 (56:23):
Yeah, what are you go going on?
Speaker 2 (56:26):
News?
Speaker 3 (56:26):
This hour is brought to you by Keystone Basement system
Sweat Basement, Keystone Basement Systems dot Com.
Speaker 4 (56:31):
It's mostly sunny.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Today with the high of sixty two and the breaking
news that we mentioned at the end of last hour.
Dick Cheney, one of the most powerful Vice presidents in
United States history, a chief architect of the war in
Iraq after the nine to eleven terrorist attacks, and a
member of an old Republican Party guard that is quickly
fading away, died on Monday night. With his reputation at
the warhawk, Cheney heaped or helped lead the push under
(56:55):
President George W. Bush to invade Iraq based on intelligence
that's Saddam hu saying had a massed weapons of mass destruction.
Tapped by Bush as his two thousand running mate for
his decades of Washington experience.
Speaker 6 (57:07):
Well hold on Bush asked him to go find a
vice president for him. He put him in charge of
the search, and guess what the search results came up.
Speaker 5 (57:16):
I found me.
Speaker 7 (57:17):
You know, I think he should get me. What has
two thousand? Should be your vice president me?
Speaker 3 (57:23):
Chaney became as hot target of Bush critics for the
enormous role he played in shaping the administration's foreign policy.
After his two terms as vice president ended in two
thousand and nine, Cheney became one of the nation's most
prominent Republicans to oppose Donald Trump, along with his daughter,
Liz Cheney, a former congresswoman. Dick Cheney said that he
voted for Democrat Kamala Harris in the twenty twenty four election.
Speaker 6 (57:45):
I mean, when he was he was the most powerful
vice president ever. And when he was vice president he
seemed like Darth Vader. And now now he's Joan Biez.
Compared to what's going on, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (57:59):
But you know, to your point, he did.
Speaker 6 (58:01):
Disappear, Yeah, he I mean, I don't think his influence was.
He was a pretty powerful dude for a long time,
but he just wasn't the face of the party.
Speaker 7 (58:16):
He also got to say, you know, he was sick
a long time.
Speaker 6 (58:21):
He shot a guy in the face with a shotguns
and the guy that got shot apologized to Dick Cheney, Sorry,
I got in the way. You know what, You had
a perfectly good shot at that pheasant that a guy
let out of a cage for you to shoot, and uh,
here I am putting my face in the way of
your clean shot at that thing.
Speaker 7 (58:40):
My apology, sir.
Speaker 25 (58:41):
Guys, how would you like, how would you accept an
invitation to go quail hunting with that guy after that?
Speaker 8 (58:53):
Well?
Speaker 6 (58:53):
The weird thing about it, because they were all on
like those and it's my understanding and maybe I'm wrong
about it, those is that they just like stocked with birds.
Speaker 8 (59:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (59:02):
Shoot, it wasn't like like a reserve almost.
Speaker 6 (59:04):
Yeah, it's like going fishing in a cannery.
Speaker 8 (59:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (59:09):
No, that's tough, but but you know, you've got to
just really dig deep for excuses not to go.
Speaker 5 (59:15):
At a certain point.
Speaker 9 (59:16):
Oh no, man, with you, I would love I would
love to buy more than anything to go quill honey, Yeah, dude,
this weekend is terrible.
Speaker 7 (59:23):
I have to get you by the secretary.
Speaker 9 (59:27):
I'm so sorry. I'm getting run over by the Secretary
of Transportation that weekend.
Speaker 7 (59:33):
I apologize. Scheduled to get hit by a bus.
Speaker 6 (59:35):
Yes, I'm getting curb stuck by the surgeon general.
Speaker 4 (59:39):
Otherwise, I will tell you. Election day is today in Pennsylvania.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
The most prominent local contest is the race for Pittsburgh mayor.
Incumbent Mayor at Gainey lost the Democratic primary in May,
leaving voters to choose a new leader for the city. Uh,
so that will be between O'Connor and Uh. That's right,
So that's happening today.
Speaker 8 (01:00:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
The retention bids of three Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices are
also getting a lot of attention today. The Democratic leaning
groups supporting them appear to have raised and spent.
Speaker 6 (01:00:14):
Now if it was.
Speaker 7 (01:00:16):
Now, let's talk.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
The state does have an online school to let voters
find their polling place by entering their address at PA
Voter Services.
Speaker 4 (01:00:28):
Dot pa dot gov.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):

Speaker 7 (01:00:55):

Speaker 5 (01:00:56):
He's a dude.
Speaker 8 (01:00:57):
I know him.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
He's from Carrick. He's nice. I'm voting for him.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Write them in.
Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
No Sean Moreno played for the Broncos. Pretty decent.
Speaker 7 (01:01:08):
Yeah, cried a lot Leslie Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Today it's a highest sixty two.
Speaker 6 (01:01:11):
So Steve Blast is going to join us at eight
o'clock with his review of the World Series, which I'm
really looking forward to because we were just putting this
out there. Which performance was better Blast than seventy one
Yamamoto in twenty five?
Speaker 7 (01:01:23):
Man?
Speaker 9 (01:01:25):
The you know, the recency bias might creep in on this.
You know, two complete games is unbelievable. I don't think
anybody will ever do that again.
Speaker 6 (01:01:35):
We'll talk to Steve see what he thinks. Mike's going
to be joining us here in a little bit as
the Steelers get set for the Chargers in a new
lease on life here for your Pittsburgh Steelers with a
win over the Colts. I don't know who this team
is yet. I don't know who this team is. And
this is my problem with Mike Tomlin teams. I never do.
Speaker 7 (01:01:53):
I never do.
Speaker 9 (01:01:55):
It's they get you all the way back in and
then they go out to l a lay An egg
and you're out, and they come home against the Bengals.
Speaker 7 (01:02:06):
You're back in. It's like dating a crazy chick, you know, yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:02:12):
Gonz yeah, yeah, because they're all crazy, right, they're all crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
These two guys are normal.
Speaker 7 (01:02:24):
Let me let me rephrase that. It's like dating a
crazy person.
Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
Thanks buddy, Okay, okay, it's like dating a crazy day them.
Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
All right, It's like dating somebody non binary.
Speaker 6 (01:02:37):
I want to take back this analogy immediately. I recused
myself in conversation and this analogy.
Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
It's like dating a pan sexual man.
Speaker 6 (01:02:46):
I tell you, yeah, they got to be gap sound
yeah in your gap Sunday Night, Steelers and the Chargers.
This week's w TB. But like game day bar the week,

Speaker 11 (01:03:53):
BRIDGEV Morning Show Mike Sports is Up, brought to you
by Bridgeville Appliance. Things look pretty good for the Pens Andronto.
After forty minutes they had outshot the Maple Leafs seventeen
to three in the second period, and had retired to
the locker room after forty minutes with a three.
Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
To nothing lead.
Speaker 11 (01:04:11):
But the last twenty minutes remained to be played, and
the Maple Leafs found a switch and the Penguins never
could shut it off.
Speaker 7 (01:04:20):
Toronto gets four.
Speaker 11 (01:04:21):
Goals in ten minutes and twelve seconds in the third
and beats the Penguins four to three.
Speaker 7 (01:04:28):
How unlikely a comeback is?
Speaker 11 (01:04:29):
This for the Maple Leafs fourth time in franchise history
that they had achieved a three goal comeback to win
in regulation. Really Wow, that's surprised the hell out of
me too, Bill, cause they seem like a quick strike team,
don't they, And they've been down enough in games. Yeah,
it hadn't happened since March nineteenth, nineteen seventy seven. The
(01:04:53):
other two times that happened in Maple Leaf's history were
December the eighth, nineteen forty six and December the second,
nineteen forty t three good Lord, to which the Penguin said, Ah,
we blowed a lot of three goal leads into third period.
Speaker 7 (01:05:06):
Yeah, you don't play us enough. What's the big deal?
Speaker 11 (01:05:11):
That's actually really out of character for this year's Penguin team.
They had been very good in third periods, So for
now a one off outlier, whatever it happens kind of deal.
Speaker 6 (01:05:23):
And people were really upset about that though, and I
last night and I just kind of thought like, well, yeah,
that's gonna happen with this team.
Speaker 7 (01:05:30):
There's a lot of young guys out there.
Speaker 11 (01:05:32):
There are, including Ben Kindall, who scored two goals, his
fourth and fifth of the season. He's on the power
play at the end of the game. He was out
there when they had the goalie pulled trying to get
the extra attack or tying goal. Dan mws is giving
this kid plenty a runway and he's taken off with it.
Speaker 7 (01:05:51):
Good deal.
Speaker 11 (01:05:52):
Pendil next to be in action on Thursday night here
against the Washington Capitals Monday Night Football. For those fortunate
enough to watch it, or maybe not fortunate enough that
they could still watch it, UH twenty seven to seventeen
the Cardinals over the Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
Cowboys are kind of a mess.
Speaker 5 (01:06:10):
Yeah, what the hell is going on?
Speaker 7 (01:06:13):
That defense is disgraceful.
Speaker 11 (01:06:16):
Cardinals at three and five watched about a two and
a half quarters of that game. And I've seen the
Cardinals doing some advanced stuff with my Steelers work. They're
a pretty good team. They just can't finish. They've had
some agonizing losses on the way to three and five.
But bocha, Kobe Prictt is playing good football. Maybe he's
a Steelers quarterback next year.
Speaker 7 (01:06:38):
He said, half kidding.
Speaker 6 (01:06:39):
Yeah, but that's that.
Speaker 8 (01:06:43):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
Is he starting to get into the age demographic? Yeah
he is. What is he a couple of years? Yeah?
Maybe not next year. Next year? Yeah, he still needs
a little bit more. But that is the way forward
for a lot of people.
Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
I keep saying the percentage of quarterbacks that get drafted
in like top fifteen that end up panning out on
their first contract seems to be getting fewer and fewer,
right or lower lower, rather And it's the Daniel Jones
is the Geno Smiths, the Sam Darnold, the Baker Mayfield
like after the time and experience, like let someone else
(01:07:19):
invest in their growth and then you pick them up
when they're sick and tired of them and watch them
take off.
Speaker 11 (01:07:25):
Problem is, there's a lot of guys that get in
that situation and stink, and then they just stink and
they don't get better.
Speaker 6 (01:07:32):
Like, do you think there's a world where justin fields,
if he had some consistency in coaching, would be playing
a lot better right now.
Speaker 9 (01:07:39):
No, I'm out on fields. I was out on fields
at the end of last year. I just think he
has an incredible tool set and gifted with his legs.
Speaker 8 (01:07:46):
But Kenn.
Speaker 11 (01:07:49):
He could also run with the ball. Really, Yeah, he's
got some legs.
Speaker 8 (01:07:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:07:54):
Might he might want to think about a position switch. Oh,
I don't think he that guy. I think he'll be
happy to be done playing.
Speaker 8 (01:08:01):
Maybe.
Speaker 7 (01:08:01):
I think I don't think he loves football. I'll tell
you what.
Speaker 11 (01:08:06):
He is a gifted runner, and I don't mean running quarterback.
I mean runner guy running with the football, very hard to.
Speaker 6 (01:08:13):
Tackle between tackles. I don't see him doing that. You
gotta use him a wide out or something like that.
I don't know if he's gonna do it. Pitch it wide,
dump it down to him in the flat.
Speaker 7 (01:08:23):
I could see him like moving to Europe.
Speaker 6 (01:08:27):
He's Yeah, he's like one of those guys where he's
just like he's interested in other things.
Speaker 7 (01:08:32):
I think.
Speaker 6 (01:08:32):
I don't know, but I did. I did feel bad
for him with the whole. I was crying in my
closet last week. You know that's tough to come back
from him.
Speaker 7 (01:08:42):
It is.
Speaker 11 (01:08:44):
Steelers have released qurnerback being Bishop from their practice squad,
and according to Jeremy Fowler, Marquez Valdez Scantling is in
town and ready to sign with the Steelers practice squad.
Aaron Rodgers has been uh waiting all week for the
Marquez Valdez Scanting transaction. Apparently Rogers was talking about how
(01:09:05):
much he'd be in favor of such a move last week.
Speaker 26 (01:09:08):
I love NBS. I've always enjoyed playing with him. He's
one of my favorite teammates of all time.
Speaker 8 (01:09:14):
He is.
Speaker 26 (01:09:16):
A really special guy, and I think NBS can still
really play. He saw last year when he was in
New Orleans he had opportunities. He had a lot of
big touchdowns. He can still run. I think NBS wants
to be on an active roster, So if there wasn't
an opportunity here for that, then I guess he's waiting
for something else.
Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
But I don't fall to him.
Speaker 26 (01:09:36):
I love MBS and whether he's here or somewhere else,
I'm always pulling for him.
Speaker 9 (01:09:40):
And the thing about MVS is that you always have
to love about MBS. Is he's just he's like uniquely MBS.
Speaker 7 (01:09:48):
His receipts are too long.
Speaker 11 (01:09:49):
But other than that, you know, it's funny to hear
these comments from Rogers and MVS didn't light it up.
Speaker 5 (01:09:55):
For New Orleans last year, Sure didn't.
Speaker 11 (01:09:58):
Jalen Warren was the stud Deer's complimentary back last year,
and Rogers talks about seeing these guys like he must
watch a ton of football.
Speaker 7 (01:10:07):
But she doesn't strike me. He seems.
Speaker 11 (01:10:12):
Smarter than the average bear, Like he doesn't just go
home and watch games and tape and constantly.
Speaker 7 (01:10:17):
I think he does. That's why I don't think he's
going to disappear.
Speaker 11 (01:10:24):
Well, I never thought he was going to disappear now,
but hey, this is uh, you know, this can't hurt
bringing this guy in on the practice squad and if
Anita rises or they see a matchup where they think
he can be effective as a you know, pretty much
a one trick pony down the field guy who might
catch it.
Speaker 27 (01:10:41):
I just think I think it's yeah, I think no,
that's exactly right. But I think he's deaf with he's
death right, because you already have Kalvian Austin. I don't
think the NBS is any better than Calvin Osen.
Speaker 6 (01:10:54):
But then you have Roman Wilson Ben Skarnik back there,
like at this point he's not standing out in front
of Calvin Austin. To me, this is protection against injury
and that's it.
Speaker 11 (01:11:06):
Or or I mean a lot of their three receiver
sets the other day had either Roman Wilson or Scornic
in them. And if you're behind any game, do you
want to go maybe with this guy? And this guy's
the okay, they got to cover him down. What kind
of blocker is MVS?
Speaker 9 (01:11:22):
I wouldn't imagine very good MBS. Now NBS cares about blocking. Well,
one thing you have to know about that NBS. You
know Emo's MBS. The MVP of NBS is NBS NBS.
Speaker 6 (01:11:34):
Butskronik and Roman Wilson has, you know, actually started to
become a little bit better at blocking as well as
Gronik is like a stud at that.
Speaker 11 (01:11:42):
See the clip on the Twitter of the Roman Wilson fumble,
and Scronic could be overheard on the mic saying, why
the f R you jump?
Speaker 7 (01:11:53):
Yeah, he's like he's agonizing.
Speaker 6 (01:11:57):
No, he got picked up on the mic because he's
walking off the field and why are you jumping?
Speaker 9 (01:12:02):
Is he in the doghouse for that? Are we gonna
see a lot less of Rum and Wilson?
Speaker 6 (01:12:07):
Now, I think you can afford to make that a
learning opportunity for him and give him one more chance.
Speaker 11 (01:12:12):
But I mean literally one more chance. They liked the
trajectory resolved, but that was a bad play. Fortunately, the
game was kind of out of hand. But he was
fighting ghosts there. He's trying to do too much to
make up for the slow start. And I don't even
know why they were throwing there.
Speaker 6 (01:12:26):
No, I know. I was actually shocked that they did,
like bleed the clock. Who cares?
Speaker 11 (01:12:32):
When Steelers get to Los Angeles to play the Chargers
Sunday night, they won't have to worry about left tackle
Joe Alt. He's gonna undergo season ending surgery for a
high right ankle spring. Chargers already have lost the other
starting tackle over Sean Slater, for the season, and they
lost phil In Bobby Hart last Sunday against Tennessee. So
(01:12:53):
it's getting pretty thin at tackle for the Chargers. That's
not the bad news for the Steelers. No, he's left tackle, Yes,
so they're gonna have replacements at left and right, tack
Herbing and Hei Smith and who's ever over there's got
a real chance to feast.
Speaker 7 (01:13:15):
I'm not falling for this again. This happens.
Speaker 9 (01:13:17):
I feel like to the Steelers multiple times, but they're down, depleted, injured, backups,
back up, and we go, oh, well, there's gonna.
Speaker 7 (01:13:25):
Be thirteen sacks in this game. And they're like, those
guys play out of their mind.
Speaker 6 (01:13:30):
They're like, uh, Jim Kbucky last week was bailing hey
in North dakomaa FJ. He just introduced himself to his
teammates as he ran out on the field.
Speaker 9 (01:13:45):
No sacks for an exchange student who dwelk.
Speaker 6 (01:13:51):
He picked up the game on the playoff over here.
Speaker 11 (01:13:55):
The coaching the other team was in the Merchant Marine
for ten years.
Speaker 7 (01:13:58):
Now he's coaching the playoff game. It's crazy.
Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
Hey, Steve Blast is going to join us to talk
about the World Series after eight o'clock because we thought
who better to talk about the pitching in the World
Series nineteen seventy one. Steve Blast's line in the World
Series two and oh eighteen innings pitched two wins, including
a complete game Game seven win one point five er
A allowed two runs seven hits in those complete games.
(01:14:24):
Yamamoto three and oh this year in the era of
one point zero two, he pitched seventeen and two thirds innings,
so a third of an inning less than Steve fifteen strikeouts.
First pitcher with three road wins in a single World Series.
First pitcher to win both Game six and Game seven
(01:14:48):
since two thousand and one, so it had been done.
I guess was that chilling?
Speaker 7 (01:14:55):
Maybe?
Speaker 11 (01:14:56):
I'm also guessing he's a first pitcher to win three
games in another country?
Speaker 7 (01:14:59):
Who series? Who's that too?
Speaker 8 (01:15:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:15:03):
Complete game two?
Speaker 11 (01:15:05):
No, it's hard to do with the whole tariff thing.
I mean, Abby's got your news coming up at.
Speaker 7 (01:15:09):

Speaker 13 (01:17:12):
Fifteen minutes ago. You started breaking down what was in
the restroom. I was writing it all down. It was
taking notes like urinal Matt. They got urinal Matt. They're
using urinal cakes.
Speaker 28 (01:17:22):
You gotta bring the urinal streams in there. I'm making
a cold call to be there in an hour and
a half.
Speaker 29 (01:17:28):
I got the whole path.
Speaker 6 (01:17:29):
It's coming out of the trunk.

Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
Baby, let's shows get us the platinum package.
Speaker 8 (01:17:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:17:55):
Yeah, maybe we're not gonna do the day thing, that
water thing, it's it's a little uncomfortable.
Speaker 8 (01:18:01):
Get used to it.
Speaker 7 (01:18:02):
Well, then you can't sell toilet paper.
Speaker 6 (01:18:04):
You can't.
Speaker 13 (01:18:04):
That's why, you know, exactly exactly. Yeah, yeah, hand dryers
andets out.
Speaker 6 (01:18:10):
We don't do that stuff. No, no, no, let's make
an imprint on the environment. Okay, Gino, and yes, sterotory
sanitation for all your sanitation needs, Gino. First question for
you the fake punt from uh well, well, first let's
start with the punt return. Why is it that you
(01:18:31):
can return u punt after it's been handled and then fumbled,
but not if it just hits a player from the
opposite team. What what is the distinction in the rule
there that they think you shouldn't be able to advance it.
Speaker 8 (01:18:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:18:46):
Well, in the purest sense a kick, a scrimmage kick
becomes a scrimmage kick that cannot be advanced by the
kicking team once the kick has crossed the original lont
of scrimmage. If it's blocked behind a line of scrimmage.
Either team can pick the ball up in advance.
Speaker 6 (01:19:01):
The moment that.
Speaker 13 (01:19:01):
The scrimmage kick crosses the neutral zone or the previous spot,
it is a kick, and it remains a kick until
there is a possession that is taken by the receiving
team at the end of that kick a minute that
that player catches that pump. Then it becomes, basically an
officiating world, a running play because now you're working with
a new segment. But if it's only touched or muffed
(01:19:24):
by a receiving team player, by definition, you're still extending
the kick because we haven't had a definitive possession change.
So in those cases, it's a kick, which we know,
just like an onside kick that goes ten yards, it
can be recovered by the kicking team, but not advanced.
So that's kind of the gist in the referee nerdy
world that's a kick remains a kick until it's possessed
(01:19:47):
by in this case in a pump by the receiving team,
and then you're basically officiating now.
Speaker 8 (01:19:51):
A running play.
Speaker 6 (01:19:52):
I get the gist of the rule. I guess I'm
having trouble understanding why there needs to be a distinction
there between the two things, you know, like it's it
would seem to me, I get this, like, oh, it's
still a kick, but if you're able to if it's
still a kick, but you're able to change possession, it's
not still a kick anymore.
Speaker 10 (01:20:10):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
I don't know. We could probably talk about that forever
like that, but.
Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
But it seems to me to be unnecessarily distinctive.
Speaker 13 (01:20:19):
Yeah, it's like, let us take it home though you
you touched it, yeah right, you know, and it's not ours,
so we're gonna take it and we're going to taking
it home.
Speaker 7 (01:20:27):
So yeah, yeah, no, I get it.
Speaker 6 (01:20:29):
Now, what about the fake punt formation the Colts used
against the Steelers?
Speaker 7 (01:20:34):
Yeah, anything, walk.
Speaker 13 (01:20:37):
Me through like kind of you know, I didn't get
the detail of it. I mean, you're talking about the
one that they went for on their own side of the.
Speaker 11 (01:20:42):
Football, and the rules about correct number of people on
the line of scrimmage still f Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:20:50):
Well yeah, and once you once you define yourself that
you're are in scrimmage kick formation, uh, then you can't
have numbering exceptions because you now have a player that's
ten yards behind the ball, punter that's in a normal
scrimmage kick formation.
Speaker 8 (01:21:05):
When you then.
Speaker 13 (01:21:06):
Shift back out of that and get into a regular
scrimmage play, now the numbering exception is.
Speaker 7 (01:21:12):
No longer viable.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
You now have to have.
Speaker 13 (01:21:14):
Five fifty through seventy nine on the line of scrimmage.
It can be spread out, but we have to have
five fifty through seventy nine. And then they have to
meet the other requirements because you are moving from a
scrimmage kick, which has exceptions to allow players that have
different you know, the lower numbers that can get down
the field, to basically working back into an offensive play.
In the moment you make that transition, now you have
(01:21:35):
to abide by the rules that allow you to do
a regular scrimmage kicker. I'm sorry, regular, you know, a
regular down play basically, right. So, so there's those nuances
in there which they have manipulated and played with so
much that that they've kind of clamped down a little
more on how they're doing it because the creativity is
where it is.
Speaker 6 (01:21:56):
Gene, there was another interesting I'm not sure why you're
not allowed to do this moment in the Chiefs Bills
game that you were working. Pat Mahomes gets a grounding
call on a ball that was tipped and then Andy
Reid tries to challenge it, and they say that's not challengeable.
Speaker 7 (01:22:12):
Why not?
Speaker 13 (01:22:14):
You know when there are those times, and as I
said on air, you know, you kind of get caught
a little bit, right. I mean, I've been around twenty
six twenty seven years. I have never had a play
as a referee, and in those years are never seen
a training tape for that matter of that scenario happen,
especially as replay and replay assists and information now has
(01:22:36):
grown way more than when I refereed. I was working
in an unknown bucket there. Quite honestly, when I saw
Andy Reid throw the flag, my first instinct was listen.
We can help with the touching of a pass as
it relates to pass interference.
Speaker 7 (01:22:50):
We call pass interference.
Speaker 13 (01:22:51):
Hey, the ball was tipped up by there a defensive
tackle tip the ball. Then if it's tipped before the
foul occurs in that situation, they're absolved the past interference.
We can review the touching of a scrimmage kick. If
you block a punt and rough the kicker, and now
you look back and replay and see he tipped that
ball and then he hit the punter, he's absolved of
(01:23:12):
roughing the punter in that scenario. I never really had it.
And then I'm morphed into Okay, let's get rid of
replay and let's do this like we used to do
in the real world and referee just by the seven
people down on the field. If I would have thrown
a flag for intentional grounding as a referee and someone
on my crew ran to me and had that beautiful
conference we all love and said, Geane, I have that
(01:23:34):
ball tipped by that linebacker, I would have picked my
flag up. I mean, I wouldn't have had the second
third level conversation, well did it.
Speaker 8 (01:23:42):
Just graze him?
Speaker 13 (01:23:43):
Did it touch his hand and still fell in an
area where there was a receiver. I know if I
were on the field and had that play happen and
someone come to me and say I got a tip,
I would have just picked the flag up because I
don't want to get into the second third layers. And
we all know that we don't call intentional grounding when
a quarterback throws the ball and eighteenth row behind the
end zone because there was a receiver in the area.
Speaker 8 (01:24:04):
Right, So we've.
Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
Always been liberal with right. My thought in real time
was look, we.
Speaker 13 (01:24:09):
Can review touching of footballs and other scenarios here to
get this play right in my opinion, right, So when
Andy threw that, I had no precedent to go back on,
but I was just working through, Look, this is a
definitive element of reviewing something that you can definitely do.
Speaker 7 (01:24:26):
Let's use it.
Speaker 13 (01:24:27):
I mean, why wouldn't we use that in that scenario?
And sometimes in this flow of these games, you get
these really crazy scenarios that may not be in that
book in a very singular worded area item and you
either you know, take that rule and you apply it
what I think would have been correctly, or maybe what
(01:24:48):
happens now is in April when the competition committee meets,
it's another ad to the book, which you'll add another
page of the rule book too and say, in this
situation it is reviewable, we can assist. And that's kind
of where I went with it. I felt like, just
because we've grown so much with this technology, which isn't terrible,
then let's apply it. If it is applicable in a
(01:25:09):
way where you know it's it's an automatic. So that's
kind of where I felt with it. But it did
catch me off board. And you know that's gonna happen
to yees in this business that I do, though, you know.
Speaker 6 (01:25:18):
Yeah, you know it strikes me. We're going to talk
with and no penitentic. So I'm changing the baseball here.
We're going to talk with Steve Blast when we come back.
The stereotors have reft basketball and football. Why is no umping?
Why stopping umping?
Speaker 8 (01:25:35):
No clock?
Speaker 5 (01:25:35):
Ran?
Speaker 8 (01:25:36):
No clock? You wanted to be home, right, you know?
Speaker 28 (01:25:43):
I mean, let'sten boys.
Speaker 13 (01:25:44):
I mean, if somebody can't get a bait in here,
I'm not playing eleven in it. We're playing twelve man
long up there.
Speaker 28 (01:25:52):
I gotta be able to work on a clock.
Speaker 29 (01:25:54):
I sat baseball, you know, Washington, Tau baseball, capital of
pony baseball at two, two beautiful boys and a daughter
who was really good in softball too. I enjoyed sitting
on the batting practice bucket of balls and calling pitchers
and bitching at the umpires.
Speaker 8 (01:26:11):
Man.
Speaker 13 (01:26:11):
I mean, I really enjoyed that part. I decided that
in that sport, we'll just sit, we'll choose sunflower seas
and we'll yell at the yump. And it was therapy
for me.
Speaker 8 (01:26:21):
I got the in the you know what I mean.
Speaker 13 (01:26:25):
But when you talk to Blast, the one thing I
do want to know is why is the guy on
second base twenty feet off a second base loaded in
one out? How did you get double played in that situation?
Speaker 28 (01:26:39):
Those youth baseball and I wouldn't be happy.
Speaker 13 (01:26:41):
With the eight year old if he was nine feet
off a second base. That's a billy, We got it.
Come here, Billy, have an ice stream, but look your.
Speaker 28 (01:26:48):
One doesn't matter.
Speaker 13 (01:26:49):
Billy, right and play like you did in right field
for the last three inning.
Speaker 28 (01:26:55):
I mean, I don't need you to go anywhere?
Speaker 6 (01:26:58):
How much of that little league mentality these guys forget
just the basic rules and force outs and things. I'll
do you one better, Gene. How about don't slide at
home plate?
Speaker 8 (01:27:08):
Yes?
Speaker 28 (01:27:09):
Exactly, man, no question about it.
Speaker 13 (01:27:11):
I mean that game was so amazing, and that the
last two innings of that game. I think someone made
a comment during the game like there's a T shirt.
You know this is going to be a T shirt.
Two players colliding near the fence, Yes, and you know,
make a great catch and then what was it like
the next batter you got to slide and replay?
Speaker 8 (01:27:27):
He lifts his.
Speaker 13 (01:27:28):
Foot he puts his foot back down. You know, we're
within two camera frames of the world series changing, and.
Speaker 28 (01:27:34):
Then you get a guy that's twelve feet off a
second based on it, like, what what are you doing here?
Don't ruin it like this?
Speaker 13 (01:27:42):
I mean it was the crescendo was coming and you
got doubled.
Speaker 28 (01:27:46):
Up on a on a pinto league plate.
Speaker 7 (01:27:48):
Yeah, I mean, it's amazing you gino.
Speaker 6 (01:27:52):
They could have used your your index card when they're
trying to determine if that was a wedge ball in
the outfield, you know, oh yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:27:59):
The weggie.
Speaker 28 (01:28:01):
I would have came and slipped that index court.
Speaker 13 (01:28:03):
Underneath that ketcher's push too, like you, that went underneath.
Speaker 28 (01:28:06):
It didn't touch the he's off the plate.
Speaker 13 (01:28:09):
Let's do it again, and can I smirk just one
more time, you know, just for the heck of it?
Speaker 6 (01:28:15):
Yeahirk, one more one more smirk that would have been
That would have been the shirt the sterotory smirk.
Speaker 7 (01:28:21):
Jeeves Saratar Brody by Schnider downs this morning.
Speaker 6 (01:28:23):
Always a pleasure. G know, thanks so much, buddy.
Speaker 7 (01:28:25):
We'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 8 (01:28:26):
Love it. Thanks here man.
Speaker 6 (01:28:28):
The great Steve Blast joins us when we return here
on the DV morning show. Sometimes the biggest business challenges
are the ones you don't even know you have. Schnyder
Downs helps clients solve those challenges. Taxing, accounting, digital consulting
in cybersdough.
Speaker 1 (01:28:44):
Live from the Downs Appliances studios where Pittsburgh shops for appliances.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
This is w d V E Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (01:28:58):
Yeah, it's a DV morning show and so honored to
be joined right now by our dear friend two complete
game winner in the nineteen seventy one World Series, the
World Series champion, Steve Blast, ladies, your Pittsburgh Pirates. Alright, alright,
al right, good morning, Steve. How are you.
Speaker 30 (01:29:19):
I'm doing great. I'm doing great. You know, this World
Series time of the year, and I was.
Speaker 8 (01:29:24):
I was glued to it.
Speaker 30 (01:29:25):
A lot of excitement, a lot a lot of excitement.
Uh you know, usually it's the best four out of seven,
but this year is the best four out of eight
because of that extra Emmy games. It's crazy, crazy night.
Speaker 8 (01:29:38):
Yeah, I don't I.
Speaker 6 (01:29:39):
Don't know that I remember a World Series that had
this many highlight plays.
Speaker 7 (01:29:45):
Right down to Game seven.
Speaker 6 (01:29:47):
The last three innings, it seemed that every at bat
had a highlight play.
Speaker 8 (01:29:54):
Yeah, it was, it was.
Speaker 30 (01:29:55):
It was a great finish and you know, the Yamamoto
was great. But don't forget the role that Rojas played
for the Dodgers, because I still wonder if that Toronto
runner was saved at home play.
Speaker 8 (01:30:07):
But Rojas, Rojas had.
Speaker 30 (01:30:10):
A shot at him, so he had to give ground.
So he's got his you know, he's backing up away
from the infield and throwing a strike with some mustard
on it to home plate on top of hitting a
home run that was critical for the Dodgers. So yeah, yeah,
I'm the motor was great, but don't forget about Rojas,
and yeah, every you know, you got to get twenty
seven outs somehow.
Speaker 8 (01:30:30):
In the ball game.
Speaker 30 (01:30:31):
Boy, they were precious. They were big outs. Some of
them were made, a couple weren't, but every yeah, it
was on the line. It was compelling television.
Speaker 11 (01:30:41):
Steve, other than yourself, what's the greatest World Series pitching performance?
Speaker 30 (01:30:48):
Well, I got to go back to Bob Gibson. I
think in sixty eight, I think he won three games.
He had seventeen seventeen strikeouts.
Speaker 7 (01:30:57):
In one game.
Speaker 8 (01:30:58):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well you.
Speaker 30 (01:31:01):
Know the great story. I can't remember the umpire's name,
I should but the seventeen strikeouts. They interviewed Buck writers
all interviewed Gibson and got their stories and any went
into the umpire and I'm not sure it was And
they said, what did you think he gives them? He
said he was great. He struck out ten. I struck
out seven.
Speaker 6 (01:31:24):
Wellmo Yamamoto stats in this World Series three and oh
a one point two one point zero two ERA fifteen strikeouts,
seventeen and two thirds innings pitched, and Steve Blast in
nineteen seventy one two and oh eighteen innings pitched, two wins,
including a game seven ERA one point five seven hits
(01:31:45):
allowed total in those two complete games.
Speaker 30 (01:31:49):
I mean, you know some I think about that sometimes,
and of course during the World Series.
Speaker 8 (01:31:54):
Did that guy do that? You know, it's in the
highlights of them.
Speaker 6 (01:31:57):
It seems like a different person, like not you.
Speaker 30 (01:32:00):
Yeah, it does at times, and then I go back
and say, you know, it's just so locked in really great,
great performances. You're you're in a bubble and there's nothing
occurring to other than what many sag game wants me
to throw. But it was, you know, so great, just
just seven hits. If you're going to have a couple
(01:32:22):
of good ball games in your ten year career, HA
them in October. But you know the great thing. The
great thing was I got my face ripped off in
the playoffs, and I thought I had never been I'd
never pitched in postseason before. So I fell into that
trap in the playoffs against the Giants that, Okay, it's
not the regular season. I got to be faster, I
(01:32:42):
got to strike out more. Uh, and that didn't work.
I wasn't that kind of a pitcher. But you know,
when I got to pitch in the third game, because
I had I had to wait for the third game
because of the playoffs.
Speaker 8 (01:32:54):
But when I.
Speaker 30 (01:32:55):
Got there, we were down to nothing to one of
the great, great, really great teams. And you consider the
seventy one Orioles. They won one hundred games again during
the season, they were defending world champions, four twenty game winners,
hall of famers.
Speaker 8 (01:33:09):
Including the evil Earl Weaver. But that that was a
great game.
Speaker 30 (01:33:15):
We had to win that third game or you can't
go down through nothing to that kind of a ball team.
Speaker 8 (01:33:20):
So I had.
Speaker 30 (01:33:22):
You know, you can't look back and say, oh, I
was going to be great, because you know, I was
obsessed with finding out. And I think I go all
the way back to that word obsession, not knowing, not
knowing if you're good enough, but obsessed with finding out
from you know, am I good enough to be a
little leaguer? Am I good enough to pitch on my
high school team? Am I? I'm obsessed with finding out.
(01:33:45):
I'm obsessed with finding out if I'm good enough to
be in the pros. The night before the seventh game,
I was obsessed with finding out. I didn't know. I
knew it was capable, but I was obsessed with finding out.
I had to know. And you know, if you say
you know, you don't know, you don't know to either
do it or you don't do it. But it's every
(01:34:06):
World Series. I think about that, and then the gift.
You know, the timing had to be right.
Speaker 8 (01:34:12):
You got to be good, but you got to.
Speaker 30 (01:34:13):
Be fortunate in other ways. The whole scenario of that,
watching Clemeny show everybody around baseball what we had seen
for twenty years, him coming up to me the airplane
after on the way home to Pittsburgh and coming down
to my road where Karen and I were sitting and
(01:34:34):
Clemeny come out of his seat down the aisle of
the airplane and said, blast, come here, let me embrace you.
I mean that's the I got goosebumps. Now, you know,
there are moments in your life you never forget. I
just hung on. Clemeny made that gesture, and he was
the MVP, and he won a car for that. So
the next spring I said, you know, I okay, you
(01:34:56):
just are I applaud.
Speaker 8 (01:34:57):
You got the car.
Speaker 30 (01:34:57):
I should have gotten the tires at least. Then he
said something to me in Spanish that I cannot reconsiz Steve.
Speaker 7 (01:35:06):
What do you make oh.
Speaker 8 (01:35:07):
That kind of relationship?
Speaker 5 (01:35:09):
Yeah, sorry to interrupt you there.
Speaker 9 (01:35:11):
I just was going to ask you what you make
of what we saw from show Heo Tawanny this postseason.
I mean, twelve punch outs and three home runs in
a series deciding game, and then to be on base
nine times in that eighteen inning game and then be
on the bump the next game.
Speaker 7 (01:35:32):
How do you even how do you even do that?
Speaker 30 (01:35:35):
Well, that didn't happen. We all managed it. It's never
happened before, it will never happen again. That was a
performance for the Ages. He did something that astounding. You know,
it's not historical, it's hysterical.
Speaker 8 (01:35:51):
You know what he.
Speaker 30 (01:35:52):
Did is phenomenal, and you know, you talk about his
performance and then you talk about, uh, your moto. You know,
it's a seventh game. All hands are on deck. They
would never use him and risk his arm and health
and everything unless there's a seventh game of the World Series.
(01:36:13):
So you know, all all bets, all rules are off
in the seventh game and everybody, everybody aired it out
and both teams they didn't leave anything on the field.
I was kind of a foot by his bipolar because
I'm a National.
Speaker 8 (01:36:33):
League got guy.
Speaker 30 (01:36:34):
I love the Dodgers, the cradle of pitching, but I
thought it would be great for baseball if Toronto wins it.
That you just can't buy it. But that's a bad phrase.
The Dodgers didn't buy it. They bought talent. Yeah, but
that talent did it, and that's great to see great baseball.
Nobody quit, Nobody quit in that World Series. I applaud
(01:36:54):
that as much as anything.
Speaker 8 (01:36:56):
Uh yeah, so it was.
Speaker 30 (01:36:58):
It was one of one of the one of the
more entertaining World Series you're ever going to be around
watching Otani and the Japanese picture who was who is phenomenal. Yeah,
they had shots of him working on his mechanics. Uh,
in the dugout. Well, the Dodgers are hitting.
Speaker 31 (01:37:15):
I mean, uh, have you ever seen a guy do
that before where he's actually just going through the He's
going through his mechanics in the dog like visualized.
Speaker 30 (01:37:25):
I've never seen it. Yeah, I've never I've never seen that.
I've never seen that. I know all great pictures, good
pictures have routines, but not in between. You know, you're
in there resting.
Speaker 8 (01:37:36):
Uh. Yeah, he was resting.
Speaker 30 (01:37:40):
When I was pitching in the seventh game, I couldn't
sit still. I was pacing. So you talk about getting
your steps in. I couldn't sit still the bottom. When
we hit on the top of the ninth, I went
to in the in the clubhouse, which was right there
in Baltimore and back of the dugout, and there's Bob Prince,
the gunner, waiting there. I said, what the hell are
(01:38:01):
you doing in here? He said me, what the hell
are you doing in here? Go get me three outs
so I can do some interviews. Okay, And I did
nine pitches by the way, that yeah, nine pitches and
I'm facing the heart of the order. It's hard to
hard to throw strikes on you're fishing your past.
Speaker 8 (01:38:24):
Glad we had the gray Road.
Speaker 30 (01:38:26):
Unis on, but you know, you think about it. I've
got boot Poll, Frank Robinson, merv Redmant boot Poll, you
know can hit the ball six miles. And then you
got Robinson, hall of Famer, five hundred home runs and
merv Retman who's hit something like three twenty So uh,
(01:38:47):
boot pal all he got many Sankie, and you call
my slow curve at foot Wilson. We showed him everything else,
but gave him the foot Wilson. He hit the ball
five hundred feet, but it was four hundred feet foul,
so far out in front of him, so he bounced
out of the short Now two to one. I got
Frank Robinson, who in Game three I won that five
(01:39:08):
to one. He had a monster home run that was
the only run off a hanging slider and as God
as my judges is the truth, first pitch I threw
to him, I let go of it. It felt like
the same slider that I threw in Game three, and
I looked up and I said, Lord, if you get
me out of this I'll be Catholic for the rest
of my life. And he popped it straight up and
(01:39:28):
I said, just didn't, just.
Speaker 8 (01:39:29):
Didn't, And he popped it up.
Speaker 30 (01:39:35):
And every time I saw Frank after that, he said,
I want that slider back. I said, you want it back.
When I let go of it, I wanted it back.
Both parties wanted that pitch back. But he popped it up.
And then you know, the ball that Retman hit bounced
off the mountain. I said, base hit up the middle, and.
Speaker 8 (01:39:53):
I was so locked in.
Speaker 30 (01:39:54):
I had no idea where Jackie Hernandez was playing, but
we had him shaded up toward the middle because Ruttman
was a good contact hitter.
Speaker 8 (01:40:02):
Like the ball hit straight away.
Speaker 30 (01:40:04):
And wound up being a routine play from Jackie the
guy that Earl Weaver, the evil or relievers said, you
couldn't win the World Series of Jackie Hernandez at shortstop. Gee.
Now he was hurt, and he winds up making the
last play work for the for the twenty seventh out,
and the release is incredible.
Speaker 6 (01:40:27):
The famous blast jump ensues the blast League.
Speaker 30 (01:40:31):
Yeah, I can still do that now if I have
a ladder.
Speaker 6 (01:40:37):
Steve, Steve, thank you so much buddy for spending time
with us this morning, and we love you and those
memories that we always appreciate you sharing your experiences with us.
And uh, you know I talked with you last week
and you know a couple of weeks ago and said
happy anniversary. Pittsburgh will never forget that one. Baseball will
never forget your performance in the nineteen seventy one World Series.
Speaker 8 (01:40:59):
Thanks, thanks, man. I always enjoyed the visit with you.
Speaker 30 (01:41:02):

Speaker 7 (01:41:31):

had the Penguins playing last night and blowing it in
the third period. We don't baseball anymore, but there's no
shortage of news stories going on in your world.
Speaker 7 (01:43:26):
No, we've got college basketball cracked up.
Speaker 8 (01:43:29):
Last night.
Speaker 11 (01:43:30):
Sports that are brought to you by Bridgual Plats. Penguins
were dominating the Maple Leafs last night in Toronto until
they weren't three nothing. Pittsburgh after two periods depends it
out shot the Leafs seventeen to three in the second period,
but something happened and Toronto scored four goals in ten
minutes and twelve seconds during the third period steals a
(01:43:52):
win from the Pence four to three. Ben Kendall his
fourth and fifth of the year for the Penguins, a
bright spot for the visitors. It becomes the fifth eighteen
year old in Penguin's history with a multi gold game,
and he guesses as to the others.
Speaker 7 (01:44:09):
Eighteen year olds with a multi gold game in George, that's.
Speaker 11 (01:44:13):
One Sydney Crosby's Mary e Lemieux, No, he started as
a nineteen year old. All right, mcjesus, Well you're missing
an obvious one. Gino, No, no obvious eighteen year old.
Speaker 7 (01:44:35):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:44:37):
Fill me in on Frosby. I said that, he said,
I thought you said, uh Stallin. Uh oh, I missurger you. Okay,
I'll give you the other two. Uh Yager ah uh
wait wait wait is it you never get this one?
Get this one because eighteen is young. Yeah, Craig Simpson
(01:44:58):
one time. Way, Okay, that's a pretty good company, no question.
I thought you said Yaga when you said Crossby, that's what. Well,
then you should have give me that one. I should
have Either way, you screwed up. You got three out
of four all Penguins Hey over here, Hey. Depends have
the Capitals in town on Thursday night, then they're at
(01:45:21):
New Jersey on Saturday. Second consecutive loss for the Penns
in regulation dating back to Winnipeg over the weekend. It's
the first time Depends have lost two in a row
in regulation since October the eleventh and fourteenth, the third
and fourth games of this season. Cardinals beat the Cowboys
twenty seven to seventeen on Monday Night Football last night.
(01:45:44):
Arizona improves three and five, Dallas is three five and one.
Steelers released quarterback Being Bishop from their practice squad and
Jeremy Fowler reporting yesterday that the wide receiver Marquez Valdez
Scantling was in Pittsburgh and ready to sign with the
Steelers practice squad. Scaling has a couple of Super Bowl
(01:46:07):
rings from his time in Kansas City, and he also
spent about four years in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers,
so there's some connection and maybe some chemistry still left there.
Steel's getting ready to go to La to take on
the Chargers, and the Chargers having all kinds of problems
at the tackle positions. Left tackle Joe Alt will undergo
season ending surgery for a high right ankle injury suffered
(01:46:30):
last Sunday against Tennessee. The Chargers were already without their
starting right tackle, Rashaun Slater, and they lost replacement right
tackle Bobby Hart in the first quarter of last Sunday's
game against Tennessee. Hart has a groin and an ankle injury.
According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, it doesn't appear that
(01:46:53):
Heart's going to end up on injured reserve, but his
status for Sunday against the Steelers is in question. The
Chargers finished that game against Tennessee with Trey Pipkins the
third at right tackle and Jamarre Sailor at left tackle.
Speaker 7 (01:47:12):
They got some issues we all do.
Speaker 6 (01:47:15):
Mike well that in particular well In Harball don't have
enough time to what's Mike Tomlin versus Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 7 (01:47:24):
I don't know. I'll look it up.
Speaker 11 (01:47:28):
Depends on how many times Harball cheated in said matchups.
Speaker 5 (01:47:33):
All of them.
Speaker 11 (01:47:36):
Ravens traded for Tennessee edge rusher Draymont Jones conditional fifth
round pick going to the Titans in return. Jones is
a uh okay sack guy and for Baltimore and okay
sack guy is a big improvement. Ravens have eleven sacks
this season. That's tied for the second fewest in the NFL.
(01:47:56):
Only Jackson, with ten, has fewer sacks. Paul Skeins of
the Pirates is one of the three finalists for the
Cy Young Award in the National League. Christopher Sanchez of
the Phillies and Yoshinobu yamamotoa the Dodgers are the other two.
Skiings led Major League Baseball with a one point nine
(01:48:17):
to seven ERA and his two hundred and sixteen strikeouts
tied for the second most in the National League. He
was the Rookie of the Year last year, and college
basketball back last night. Boy if I've been waiting for
college basketball to return. Pitt beats Youngstown State seventy four
(01:48:38):
to fifty nine, Ducane takes care of Niagara eighty three
to sixty three, and Penn State beat Fairfield seventy six
to sixty eight. A couple more local teams in action tonight,
West Virginia hosting Mount Saint Mary's in Morgantown at seven o'clock,
and Robert Morris visits Iowa at eight thirty.
Speaker 7 (01:49:00):
He's got your News coming up at the top of
the hour.
Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
Got an update on the fan who fell from the
stands at PPG ac DC. Not done yet and with
some new info coming out, the loof heist got even
more dumb.
Speaker 6 (01:49:13):
I can't find for some reason, Mike Tomlin versus Jim Harbaugh.
It's like because now that the search John, Yeah, the
search engines are like, oh, Mike Tomlin and John Harball
have a very did you mean, John?
Speaker 7 (01:49:25):
No, we think you did. Here's what they did.
Speaker 11 (01:49:27):
You know, put in Mike Tomlin versus the corrupt nut
job brother Harbaugh.
Speaker 6 (01:49:32):
See if that comes up. Mike, what is it that
you have against Jim Harbaugh? I don't get it. I'm
just kidding, just kidding. As he's wearing a sparty hat.
Speaker 11 (01:49:42):
Today we started our basketball season Lesslarty.
Speaker 7 (01:49:46):
How you do uh be?
Speaker 11 (01:49:48):
Coldgate by eleven? So I'm not sure how to answer
that question. Four out of five dentists. I was expecting
more than an eleven point victory. But he take to
Douby's where you can get him. That's what I always say.
Speaker 6 (01:50:05):
Steelers Chargers this Sunday night, eight twenty pm. That means
our pregame starts at four thirty with Tom Offerman and
Matt Williamson and then he's not killing that.
Speaker 5 (01:50:15):
By the way, Tom, Yes, him and Matt Tom Gray.
Speaker 7 (01:50:19):
Very good together on the DV pre game.
Speaker 6 (01:50:22):
Well Tom's Tom's great and Matt is a likevant.
Speaker 7 (01:50:27):
Yes, savant is the work.
Speaker 6 (01:50:29):
Could say idiot, Well, I didn't want to say idiot
because I always feel like that that's like an insult.
But I don't think idiot savon is supposed to be
indicate somebody's like, but there's one hundred and fifty pickups
on the ground or are you know, tooth picks on
the ground, Like.
Speaker 4 (01:50:40):
It's not like they have a natural inclination.
Speaker 6 (01:50:43):
Yes, but idiot I think is a misnomer for that,
Or am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (01:50:48):
It's just it's a harsh word for it, that's all.
Speaker 9 (01:50:50):
But he's not Steelers rain Man, Right, That's what I'm
trying to say. Definitely definitely had six turns.
Speaker 7 (01:50:56):
Right, Yeah, Like.
Speaker 6 (01:51:04):
Idiot savant is a person who has exceptional aptitude in
one particular field music mathematics, despite having significant impairment in
other areas.
Speaker 7 (01:51:16):
So yes, yes, he's just a savant.
Speaker 11 (01:51:22):
What's the other definition of idiot? Can you be both moron? Yes,
not an idiot savant.
Speaker 7 (01:51:30):
You're kenned, just a derelic savant. Chris Gardaki.
Speaker 6 (01:51:33):
I'll never forget Chris Kardoki coming up to me at
that AFC Championship game in Denver and he's.
Speaker 7 (01:51:38):
Like, why are you on the field right now? On
your backup? They let me on that, and the fact
that for no reason you were a I was so
banged up.
Speaker 6 (01:51:52):
The that in the movie Step Brothers, they make the
bullies name Chris Gardaki. Oh really, he's like, Chris Kodaky
beat me up on my way home today, and it's
just because you know, he knew him as an NFL
punter and thought that name was funny and they put
it in there.
Speaker 7 (01:52:09):
He was a good guy.
Speaker 6 (01:52:11):
Was he not there this weekend?
Speaker 7 (01:52:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:52:14):
Jeff Reid was there, by the way, we didn't talk
about this. Oh my god, I love Jeff dude. He
looks like a WWE manager.
Speaker 8 (01:52:23):
He does.
Speaker 7 (01:52:27):
He needs like a Colonel Sanders bow.
Speaker 6 (01:52:29):
Tie, his his like gait in his like just stature.
Right now, he looks like a Kentucky colonel. Yeah, totally,
because he's got like the the goat and his hair
was slicked back.
Speaker 5 (01:52:43):
The amount of tanning he's done. He's basically fried.
Speaker 6 (01:52:46):
Nobody was funnier than that guy, Honest to god, he was.
He was like if Bubby Brister was a kicker, it
was jeff Reid. Yes, yeah, no, it was. It wasn't
That wasn't at Cheets. He ripped the paper towel, this
spencer off the bathroom in sheets when he got in
a fight, and I think it might have been with
Matt spaith or like no.
Speaker 9 (01:53:06):
I think that that was like appeeing by the stadium,
like behind the dumpsters, and the.
Speaker 6 (01:53:13):
Cops busted them, and they said when they tried to
bust him, Jeffrey assumed the fighting, and we all thought,
that's why wouldn't it be We should have come, man,
I should have reached out to those guys, and like
Red was in town too, we should have tried to
get Fanic on.
Speaker 7 (01:53:31):
But he did.
Speaker 6 (01:53:33):
He did a great job and they won and they
well McAfee was talking about this yesterday.
Speaker 7 (01:53:39):
Do you think there's something to that.
Speaker 6 (01:53:44):
Those guys being in the building, Like it's like when
Lacey walks by the pool at Caddyshack and they all
straighten up. It's like when Mary o Lemue walks into
the room bill, you've seen it, A room full of doom.
Speaker 7 (01:53:57):
They're like, I think for Joey Porter there was. I'm
not sure for too many others.
Speaker 6 (01:54:05):
You don't think Aaron cees Big Ben and he's like,
I want to light it up today.
Speaker 7 (01:54:10):
No, I think Aaron wants to light it up every day. Yeah,
Tank Carter was like, I'm going to light it up
right now.
Speaker 8 (01:54:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:54:18):
I'm not sure if Juwan Williams was inspired by the
Steelers team from twenty years ago or well, all right, yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:54:31):
These guys are younger.
Speaker 8 (01:54:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (01:54:33):
I don't think they study the history of their sports
the way we did growing up.
Speaker 6 (01:54:39):
They don't, especially in baseball. They don't drive me crazy.
Speaker 9 (01:54:43):
I mean maybe Jalen Ramsey's speech was more impactful for
this game. Still, I think that stuff matters. Like when
they were over in Dublin and Tomlin got up and
gave the speech about DMR and what that country meant
to the roonies and what this game means to their family.
Speaker 11 (01:55:01):
I think that that's I think that stuff matters. But
I don't think Jayleen Ramsey got up there and said,
let's win one for the guys.
Speaker 5 (01:55:05):
No, you're definitely not, That's what I'm saying. That might
have been more impactful for this game.
Speaker 11 (01:55:10):
I do think, hey, when Aaron Rodgers talks about that
making an impression on him as a guy that's as
old as he is and it's been around as long
as he has and doesn't even play on that side
of the ball. M Yeah, that must have been a
hell of a speech.
Speaker 8 (01:55:25):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:55:26):
Charlie Batch will get his take on it. He was there,
He was there, He was part of those teams, part
of that celebration. He joins us when we come back,
did you play something for the answer is always yes.
Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
When you build them menu, you know what, that would
make my day so much better. We all request the
Electric Lunch weekdays at noon.
Speaker 4 (01:55:44):
On d V Kenny Rossford. We've always served our neighbors.
Speaker 6 (01:55:52):
You're Radio Home with the Pittsburgh Steelers one of two
point five DVE. Our next guest brought to you by
Ed your Snyder and associates. They're always looking out for
you and some perfect world. Before you talk to the
insurance company, find Edgar Ladies and Gentlemen from the Steelers
Audio Network post game show Charlie Batch, Ladies and.
Speaker 5 (01:56:08):
Gent Super Bowl winner one Charlie Batch.
Speaker 7 (01:56:13):
Yeah, that's right, super Bowl Winner. How was that celebration
for you?
Speaker 6 (01:56:16):
Being honored as part of the Super Bowl forty team
this past Sunday at Hinesfield or Acrocer Stadium, heights Field.
This took me back to the Super Bowl forty days.
Speaker 20 (01:56:26):
Trust that there's a lot of players who haven't been
back in that long, so they were just still calling
it ees and didn't realize acting sure was the name.
Speaker 6 (01:56:33):
But it was really cool to catch up models go
yeah right, But it was really cool to be.
Speaker 20 (01:56:39):
Around all of that, to see all of the guys
and just you know, twenty years that went by and
the stories are still the same. And regardless of how
long you have seen somebody, the stories just picked right
up like you never left. So it was just really
cool to be around to be able to celebrate those moments.
Speaker 6 (01:56:53):
Who's the funniest dude on that team?
Speaker 20 (01:56:56):
Oh my goodness, To be honest with you, Brown me
when and Larry would go together, Like it's like it's
like a encyclopedia of information. They just start throwing names
out there. Hey, where did Jack Catum go to school?
You're like what, And it's just it's just really cool
and everybody just laugh and you know, breathe back that
locker room feeling.
Speaker 7 (01:57:17):
Yeah, so High State, didn't it?
Speaker 8 (01:57:20):
Jack Tay?
Speaker 6 (01:57:21):
Yes, absolutely, yes, Oh my god, didn't he did he
just pass away?
Speaker 7 (01:57:25):
I don't know, I believe that. I'm not sure about
that one. I don't know. I don't want, I hope,
I don't want. Where did he pass away?
Speaker 6 (01:57:31):
Columbus?
Speaker 7 (01:57:32):
Wait?
Speaker 6 (01:57:32):
No, where where does Ohio State go to die? Definitely
not Lan.
Speaker 7 (01:57:40):
That's Mike pursuita there.
Speaker 20 (01:57:42):
Mike couldn't even say the name over the weekend, as
we had a caller from a Columbus boy. But that's
to let you know how you know the rivalry were game.
Speaker 6 (01:57:50):
You wouldn't say Columbus.
Speaker 7 (01:57:52):
I wouldn't say the other place in Michigan.
Speaker 20 (01:57:56):
He wouldn't say Michigan.
Speaker 7 (01:57:58):
That's hilarious.
Speaker 6 (01:57:59):
Jack Cane died in twenty ten, by the way, so
you know we're safely past the grieving period, and thankfully
we're not grieving the Steelers season after that win on
Sunday night, that's a rickety transition.
Speaker 7 (01:58:10):
But look, we win the game against the Colts and
Charlie you called it.
Speaker 20 (01:58:18):
I was I just had a feeling it was one
of those steals where everything was going against the team.
They were literally last in every category, there was no
category going to get to the game that they were
favored in, and just having a feeling that Colt playing
on grass being a little slower than what they typically are,
I just had to feel in the defense was going
to get after them and they were going to lean
on the crowd at Akashure Stadium, And they sure enough
(01:58:39):
did that because that offensive line they were getting off
at a split second slower account and they were able
to get that pass rush going for the Steelers.
Speaker 6 (01:58:46):
So I was not sure that defense was going to
be able to respond when the team is, you know,
being just destroyed in the media for a week, the
fans are having a few uneral for the defense in
the parking lot. Does that noise get through to them
and did that really contribute to Mike Tomlin and those
(01:59:08):
guys riding the rudder here or is it just this
is part of the NFL football that fans don't understand.
There are weeks that are up and weeks that are down.
Speaker 7 (01:59:18):
That's exactly what it is.
Speaker 20 (01:59:19):
And you know, anytime you have a game at home
and of no you know, they don't necessarily use the
home field advantage like over the past few years, but
this was a game that literally players always say, hey,
we don't hear about it.
Speaker 7 (01:59:31):
We blocked the noise out.
Speaker 20 (01:59:32):
But you have friends and family that's going to tell
you about what somebody says because they're watching everything on
social media. So it ultimately gets back. And of course
you win a game like this, then you get up
to the pony. I mean you say, hey, we keep receipts,
we know what they said about us. But yet now
it's time to move on because now you have to
build on that victory.
Speaker 6 (01:59:48):
How much did the defense looking better have to do
with Ramsey being at safety yet, because to me, it's
like I thought that things were in the secondary were
gonna look much worse, and they ended up kind of
looking better than they had been. And I know a
lot of that is because the front seven was so good,
but I assume we're gonna see Ramsey there for a
long time.
Speaker 20 (02:00:07):
Yeah, I'm thinking that that may be his permanent spot
right there, And I know injuries kind of put him
in that particular position, but they weren't giving up the
big plays in that particular manner.
Speaker 7 (02:00:15):
You know, at least Guds just running Scott free. There
were a couple of mistackles that they.
Speaker 20 (02:00:18):
Had here giving up those big games, but in the
most part they contained that offense of the Colts who
was high scoring coming into.
Speaker 7 (02:00:25):
This game, and it was just good to see.
Speaker 20 (02:00:27):
So I really expect to see Ramsey stay in that
spot at least for a long period of time, maybe
over the next month or so.
Speaker 7 (02:00:33):
They didn't really establish the running game.
Speaker 6 (02:00:35):
Is it a situation where they didn't need to because
of circumstance or were they struggling to get there again,
because I would think, you know, all we heard going
into the season is that Arthur Smith was going to
predicate this offense on controlling the ball and running it
and then using Aaron Rodgers, you know, not sparingly but
run setting up pass. And boy, they're throwing the ball
(02:00:57):
a lot. Not as much as Daniel Jones did. But
Jalen Warren had sixteen carries. Yeah, I don't know, does
it it seem like we should be are we were
going to be relying on the run more than we are?
Speaker 8 (02:01:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 20 (02:01:11):
I thought that going in, and I really thought that
Jalen Warren was gonna have a monster game because you're
looking at the person on the other side that everybody
is anointing and Jonathan Taylor, and that was going to
motivate him going into it. But for whatever reason, it
just looked like that five man front of the Colts
caught the Steelers off guard. They weren't prepared for that
front and it did kind of disrupted things early in
the game. But once, you know, they felt they had
(02:01:33):
to get back into the game. That's where they were
throwing the football in that particular manner. So I'm not
saying that this offense made it by any point. I'm
not anointing them in that particular manner. They only had
two hundred and twenty five yards of total offense. That's
not going to could cut it consistently throughout the years.
It's because the defense created those turnovers. They had twenty
four points off of those turnovers. So that's just something
that they know they need to get better at.
Speaker 6 (02:01:54):
Yeah, their longest drive was fifty six yards on Sunday.
It's not like there's you know, mounting these big drives
and they're going to need to do that against the
Chargers on Sunday.
Speaker 20 (02:02:03):
Absolutely, this is you know again in the nationally telebase game.
You know, Steelers Nation is going to represent they always
do in LA, so this is going to be something
that they're going to have to give those fans something
to keep to stay.
Speaker 13 (02:02:14):
Into this particular game.
Speaker 20 (02:02:15):
But the Steelers know this is a crucial another AFC
game that they have to win because when you start
getting to those tiebreaker scenarios at the end of the season,
you want those to shift in your favor. And if
they can beat the you know, just like they beat
the Colts and that they could beat the Chargers, they're
standing pretty good at the as it relates to playoff
hopes towards the end of the season.
Speaker 9 (02:02:35):
How did they keep this turnover train going, Chuck, because
it seems to be feast or famine. They had that
game against the Patriots where they turn them over five
times and then all of a sudden, TJ.
Speaker 5 (02:02:44):
Watt doesn't have a sack for a month.
Speaker 20 (02:02:47):
Yeah, that's that's always tough, and you know you can
kind of see that, you know, those outside linebackers were
you know, shortened the edge and they were really getting
to the quarterback there and it was really rough. But again,
that's playing with proud noise. What does it look like
on the road when the quarterback now has the snap
count as a weapon, being able to now keep those
guys honest. But a lot of that comes down to
(02:03:08):
being successful on first down and creating those certain long situations.
So I think if they use that formula, you know,
that's going to be something that they can, you know,
continue to lean on.
Speaker 6 (02:03:17):
Did Joey Porter, you know, with the with the pick,
did he take a significant step forward in your estimation there?
Speaker 7 (02:03:23):
Charlie, Yeah, he's getting there.
Speaker 20 (02:03:25):
You know, when you get to that particular point, we're
gonna need him to take that next step. And that's
why they brought a Jaylen Ramsey in here so he
can learn, you know, how to play that position at
an all pro level. He has all the potential in
the world, and there's plays that go by you're like,
he didn't really need to grab in that particular manner.
Just trust your eyes, trust your feet to get you
to the place. So he just has remember he's still
(02:03:45):
a young player. He just has to continue to grow
off of that.
Speaker 8 (02:03:48):
But until you.
Speaker 20 (02:03:49):
Eliminate those penalties, you're always going to be a target
for an offensive coordinator.
Speaker 6 (02:03:53):
Charlie in The Pocket is just nine days away, the

So their inability to cope basically determines the temperature of
the household, if you will. So like somebody who, let's say,
had addiction issues would be somebody that you know likely
has a codependency in their relationship because their their inability
to cope with big emotions is likely a source of
(02:06:30):
their addiction, right, right.
Speaker 7 (02:06:32):
Also a full dependency.
Speaker 3 (02:06:36):
So because of that, you know, dependency, They just love Myron.
Speaker 8 (02:06:49):

Speaker 9 (02:08:03):

and throws triple digit fastballs.
Speaker 6 (02:08:09):
His material is. I mean, nobody else is going to
use that. He's not treading on anyone. No, Robin Williams
would not be doing that at the Academy Awards.
Speaker 8 (02:08:23):
No.

Speaker 3 (02:08:46):
The family of the man who fell from the stands
at PPG Paints for Me in a last month during
a Penguins game says that he has been.
Speaker 4 (02:08:53):
Awake and alert, but he will have a long road
to recovery.
Speaker 3 (02:08:58):
In a statement, the man's family expressed grady to the
emergency responders, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who saved
the man's life and continued to care for him. The
family added that the man is expected to again have
a long road of recovery ahead, and they have also
asked for privacy moving forward. So last week, the Penguins
and the Oakview Group issued a joint statement saying that
(02:09:21):
the man was not using the designated staircase at the
time of the incident, and the safety barrier remained intact.
Speaker 4 (02:09:28):
Oakview Group manages PPG Paints.
Speaker 3 (02:09:30):
Serena, a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Safety, said late last
week that witnesses told police the man was stepping overseas
when he lost his footing.
Speaker 7 (02:09:38):
That's what I read.
Speaker 6 (02:09:39):
Oh, he's lucky.
Speaker 7 (02:09:40):
To be alive.
Speaker 8 (02:09:40):
Man.
Speaker 7 (02:09:41):
Yeah, oh, no question. And I think we've all done that.
Speaker 5 (02:09:44):
I mean I've definitely stepped over chairs at games before.
Speaker 7 (02:09:48):
At PPG, Joe and I sat up there for the
Tom Petty Show.
Speaker 6 (02:09:54):
Do you remember how steep that Like we were talking
about that night, like, man, if you go ask over
teacups here, Oh yeah, oh those scenes scare me. I
mean my dad we had season tickets like five ros
from the top or three over stadium.
Speaker 7 (02:10:05):
It was you know, it's like you're like a window washer. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:10:08):
Yeah, but it was weird how it was Like at
PNC Park they had the incident with the fan falling,
and then there was the Sunday Night football crew guy
fell at acresure.
Speaker 5 (02:10:18):
Off the jumbo tron.
Speaker 6 (02:10:19):
Just weird one, two three like that. Thank god last
night wasn't the home game. The twenty people would have jumped,
yeah right, put out the nets like at Golden Gate Park,
Golden Gate Bridge.
Speaker 7 (02:10:33):
Yeah, catch them all.
Speaker 8 (02:10:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:10:36):
Then they say they have.
Speaker 6 (02:10:37):
Those nets at like iPhone factories because so many people
are like like trying to just like I'd rather die
other than work, and then then nets catch them and they're.
Speaker 4 (02:10:44):
Like back to work.
Speaker 7 (02:10:45):
I thought that might be like a myth. Well that's
why I'm asking. Is it a myth?
Speaker 6 (02:10:49):
Or Oh I don't know, I don't I don't know.
Is it a make They do have nets at the
Golden gate Bridge? Yeah, I remember watching that one documentary
where the people they interviewed the people that survived the
jump from the Golden gate Bridge. I worked a guy
that was a janitor at the punchline was one of
those twelve people that survived. RealD Yes, and that was
(02:11:09):
one of the only five or six crazy things about him.
Speaker 7 (02:11:14):
I bet ye yeah, yeah, yea. His name was Bo.
He was a character and a half.
Speaker 6 (02:11:18):
And they said, like every person said the second they left,
they were like, big mistake, could have solved all my problems.
Speaker 7 (02:11:27):
Right, what did that guy say about it? He or
didn't you talk to him about it?
Speaker 6 (02:11:33):
I hit others like he literally he built his own
helicopter and then crashed it into a power line. He
was He was the head of the North American Pink
Floyd fan club. He used to have North Americans, so
all of Canada and Mexico as well. Yes, yeah, that's distinction. Yeah,
it was pre nafta.
Speaker 7 (02:11:51):
I don't know what.
Speaker 6 (02:11:55):
He had like he had pet cockroaches. He used to
clean the bells of the church. The only person that
would ever go up to the church on top of
you know where the Pheromone now, that huge church.
Speaker 7 (02:12:07):
He was in charge of cleaning those bells.
Speaker 5 (02:12:10):
Who put him in charge of that?
Speaker 7 (02:12:13):
Did they his background? Yeah? He was an interesting cat.
He was an interesting cat.
Speaker 8 (02:12:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:12:19):
But yeah, but that movie is interesting because I knew
the guy. I knew one of the guys that was
helping film that they were pretending it was a documentary
because the Park Service wouldn't want someone doing a thing
on suicides.
Speaker 7 (02:12:32):
Oh right, so they said they were just doing a
movie on the bridge about the bridge. Right.
Speaker 6 (02:12:36):
The Golden Ape Bridge is still to me one of
the most amazing things. When you drive across it or
just looking at it, it is so mad. I mean,
I think the Bay Bridge is impressive, but like Golden
Gate is just that when you are on it, you
can't believe something like that exists.
Speaker 7 (02:12:51):
It is massive.
Speaker 6 (02:12:52):
I mean, I lived there for eighteen years. It never
gets old. It's like the sunset. It never gets look
it's every day and I I was just there last week.
I'm going there next week for shows. And it's just
like you just stare at it. For my buddy's deck,
It's like it's the great That's why I think my
daughter's so mellow because they used to walk her to
it every morning.
Speaker 7 (02:13:11):
Yeah, she was a baby. This is where people jump, honey.
Is there tons of.
Speaker 5 (02:13:15):
Traffic on that bridge, like just people running and walking
and there is, and there's a lot.
Speaker 6 (02:13:19):
Of stuff like that. Yeah, I mean you can walk across,
you can run across it. There's actually it's a really
weird incident. Somebody they used to put up. It used
to be like the Liberty Bridge where you could go
one way and it kind of switch it to where
you could go lanes switch up. Yeah, and some idiot
like tried to jump on the other side and then
you know, it was on the paper for three years
because they tried to pretend that they were having a seizure.
(02:13:40):
It's like, no, you were just being a jag off.
Some old lady was going too slow when you try
to go around and people are terrified by the Golden
Gate Bridge, to me, not even close to the scariest bridge.
Speaker 7 (02:13:54):
The sun Shined Skyway Bridge down in Florida is.
Speaker 6 (02:13:58):
The scariest bridge because it keeps going up and you
can't see the other side. And when you look down
to the right you can see the original bridge that
was constructed there, and a boat hit it, broke it
in half, and several cars flew off of it in
a fog to their death. The Mexican Navy was invading Florida,
(02:14:21):
remember when they invaded New York to hit the bridge. Well, oh,
that's right, I forgot about that. No, but you know
what bridge I'm talking about, right, and the one in Tampa. Yeah,
it's like between Tampa and Fort Myers. Yeah, there's a
couple other bridges that are just crazy like that. I
don't get scary. But actually when they had like the
maybe the fiftieth anniversary of the bridge, I was not there,
(02:14:41):
but someone say they had like a million people walk
across it and it started shaking like it was like
an hold the weight, and people freaked out.
Speaker 9 (02:14:49):
The ranking bridge was always pretty scary. You could see
the water through the bridge.
Speaker 7 (02:14:54):
Through the bridge.
Speaker 6 (02:14:56):
Thirty five people died nineteen eighty front drove off the
bridge and they couldn't see because it was all foggy.
And it's just like the bridge keeps going up, up, up,
up up and just what do you mean, Like the
bridge was cut in half, but they couldn't tell.
Speaker 4 (02:15:12):
They couldn't.
Speaker 6 (02:15:14):
Because a boat hit it and knocked it down and
the fog blocked it. So they drive onto the bridge.
Speaker 7 (02:15:18):
This is like that day. Yes, why didn't they block
the bridge.
Speaker 13 (02:15:26):
There?
Speaker 4 (02:15:26):
See how it goes up?
Speaker 6 (02:15:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, dude, that one there, It doesn't look
as bad when you look at it from far away.
Speaker 7 (02:15:37):
It doesn't look that steep when you drive up it. Man,
it is so stupid.
Speaker 4 (02:15:39):
It looks pretty steep.
Speaker 6 (02:15:41):
There's ones in China on the internet to give me
the willies just looking at them.
Speaker 7 (02:15:45):
Like five miles in the air.
Speaker 13 (02:15:46):
And the.
Speaker 6 (02:15:48):
Outside of the Sydney Harbor Bridge at the two thousand Olympics,
like me and me and Jimmy went up the bridge.
It's guided tour and you climb on the outside it
and it's a stairwell and you clip in and they
walk you up one of the arches all the way
to the top, and then you walk across and then
(02:16:08):
come down the other side, so you don't walk up
over it and all the way to the other side.
You know, you come back down the same side you
went up. But when you get when you're going up,
it's like, I never thought I was scared of heights.
I'm like, this is kind of hairy, Like it feels weird,
even though I know I'm very secure. And then the
wind's whipping, and then it's really whipping, and they're talking
to you in a headset because you can't hear, and
(02:16:29):
so you get to the top and you look around.
Speaker 7 (02:16:31):
You're like, oh my, yeah, this is a weird feeling.
Speaker 6 (02:16:35):
And then you kind of just wanted I kind of
wanted it to be over once I went. Once I
had to look at the city because you're looking down
at the at the bay, and it's.
Speaker 7 (02:16:44):
That call of the void thing that keeps happening to you,
you know what.
Speaker 6 (02:16:46):
I'm like, Am I just gonna unclip and jump to
my death right now?
Speaker 7 (02:16:49):
For no reason?
Speaker 13 (02:16:50):
What?
Speaker 6 (02:16:51):
No, I'm not, I never heard of that.
Speaker 7 (02:16:56):
No, oh yeah, people sounds like a Zabbath song.
Speaker 8 (02:16:59):
I know.
Speaker 6 (02:17:00):
It's like people have this like feeling, and sometimes it
happens on ski lifts or just you're hiking and there's
like a big ravine and people like look down and
their brain starts like to make them feel like the
call of the void leap into it. I don't even
go skiing anymore because I'm I got so scared of
hide as an adult. And it's funny. This is a
Andy Pacaro Pittsburgh comic. Yeah, hilarious, dude. We did a
(02:17:23):
show and Aspen together and they were like, hey, do
you guys want to go to the beer fest on
top of the mountain And I'm like, I don't want
to get neck on dol.
Speaker 7 (02:17:31):
Yeah I'm not.
Speaker 6 (02:17:32):
This guy goes, oh, I'll take a truck and we'll
drive up to you guys.
Speaker 7 (02:17:34):
You can drive up it. He made it like it was.
Speaker 6 (02:17:38):
He goes, yeah, it takes like it takes like ten minutes.
I go, okay, we hit every bump. I was screaming
like it was. He was over the edge. It was
the worst twenty minutes of my life.
Speaker 8 (02:17:47):
We get that.
Speaker 6 (02:17:47):
I go, thought they take like five minutes. He goes,
why I was driving slow because you guys were a
bunch of pea words.
Speaker 8 (02:17:52):
I'm like what.
Speaker 6 (02:17:56):
People were like, it's so beautiful, of course.
Speaker 8 (02:17:58):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (02:17:59):
Pacaro's over a dumpster smoking a cigarette, like only people
from Pittsburgh just like hang out by the dumpster. You're
inside a postcard We're just like, I'm like, do you
have any like regular beer? Yeah, the way you freeze
stuff like like, what's go. This is a festival. So
(02:18:24):
then we're going down. So then we're like, f this,
we're taking the gondola down. It was just then we
left early, so we're going down and we were with
like like a nice Asian family, are very quiet and
we're going down and you know, like you's a gondola.
Speaker 7 (02:18:38):
So we were good.
Speaker 6 (02:18:39):
It's like a three minute ride, minute a half been.
It's like it's perfect, and Pacara goes, this isn't so bad,
and I go, we're not there yet. Stop and then
it stops right where it's the biggest dip the furthest
spot for where the firemen aren't going to be able
to get it from any angle and it's gonna be
(02:19:00):
a Navy seal coming from a helicopter.
Speaker 7 (02:19:03):
And it stopped just lo.
Speaker 6 (02:19:05):
It was I was like five seconds away from maybe
doing that thing where I'm just like and then it
just started moving. You're like okay, yeah, oh my god.
Speaker 8 (02:19:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:19:18):
The worst is when you're on a lift and it
stops over a ravine and you're swaying. Okay, you can
start going anytime now, and I'd be okay with that, yep.
And they don't even hookey in tight on this. That's
why I'm dunsty and like I'm.
Speaker 7 (02:19:32):
Done with that. I mean, I don't remember how we
got here.
Speaker 8 (02:19:34):
Abby.
Speaker 33 (02:19:36):
Well, we were talking about PPG and just like the
vertigo of being up high and you know the arena,
but then that kind of is heartning back to us
talking about being stuck on the Incline.
Speaker 4 (02:19:48):
I was thinking about us being stuck on the ferris
wheel on the Clemente.
Speaker 3 (02:19:51):
I mean, now you guys got me all the spooky scaries,
didn't they Incline break down this weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:19:57):
We were talking about it being Pittsburgh alive.
Speaker 6 (02:20:00):
I said, that's scared. Anything of Kenny would is that Incline.
They got that Scooby Doo character running it. He would
have got away with it too, This Scoopy Doe character.
You get on and he takes his face off.
Speaker 8 (02:20:18):
And.
Speaker 9 (02:20:23):
It is terrifying, like when you're going especially when you're
going down, because he.
Speaker 6 (02:20:26):
Just Incline is terrifying.
Speaker 9 (02:20:28):
Yeah, for a couple of seconds, like just the idea
for me isn't isn't Like it's it's not fast.
Speaker 7 (02:20:34):
It's so slow.
Speaker 9 (02:20:35):
That's what's scary about it to me, Like if the
if the rope all of a sudden just goes and
now you're flying down the incline.
Speaker 4 (02:20:44):
That's all I think about.
Speaker 7 (02:20:45):
That's what I think about it.
Speaker 6 (02:20:47):
Yeah, doesn't it have like a manual break on it?
Probably it doesn't have like a Westinghouse. Hey, we inspected
this like last week's sign either, it's just like from
eighteen hundred.
Speaker 3 (02:20:57):
Yeah, I guess that's the first thought I have on
the incline is.
Speaker 7 (02:21:03):
That there's one cable snap. I never ever, never ever thought.
Speaker 6 (02:21:08):
And I'm not like, oh, nothing scares me kind of
guy when it comes to that kind of stuff, Like
I just I don't know why.
Speaker 7 (02:21:13):
I just always felt like, how bad could it be?
It's the inclined Like.
Speaker 4 (02:21:16):
Yeah, but I mean it's like, how bad could it be?
Speaker 3 (02:21:18):
It's like there's a piece of concrete holding up the
jack rabbit, Like that's what I Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:21:23):
That's a fair point.
Speaker 9 (02:21:24):
Speaking of that, did you guys see on the news
there was a guy who was on a roller coaster
his safety latch didn't like it unlatched.
Speaker 7 (02:21:34):
The kid who was checking it all didn't do the
proper check.
Speaker 5 (02:21:38):
It came undone.
Speaker 9 (02:21:39):
He got out of the roller coaster as it was moving,
as it was about the crust the first hill, and
then walked down the fire escape thing.
Speaker 7 (02:21:48):
But like he got out while it was Where was
that at the top. I don't know.
Speaker 9 (02:21:54):
I just saw it on the news and this guy
was like, I'm just I'm glad it happened to me
and not one of these kids, because they probably wouldn't
have got out of a you know, a roller coaster
that was on the move. And I was like, yeah,
I mean, yeah, that makes sense. Oh my lord, the
video is terrifying. Yeah, all right in Arizona. Oh no,
(02:22:15):
that was last year. Okay, Well, well, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:22:16):
I was looking for it, but I couldn't find it
in the search for unbuckled roller coaster. It can't work.
Speaker 7 (02:22:26):
Terrifying, all right, Joe, you might like this.
Speaker 3 (02:22:29):
ACDC is bringing the Power Up Tour back to North
America for a second consecutive year. Stadium dates just announced
for next summer and fall. It's gonna start July eleventh
in North Carolina.
Speaker 4 (02:22:43):
They're gonna do seventeen shows through September twenty ninth. In Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (02:22:47):
They're gonna put tickets on sale November seventh at ten
a m.
Speaker 6 (02:22:54):
What do you think if it works out that I
can bring my daughter, I'm gonna go. If not, I
might be done because I'm three times in a row
now I've said I think that was it. It was amazing,
and but every time I go back, it's just as
we had an awesome time.
Speaker 7 (02:23:09):
But if I can.
Speaker 6 (02:23:12):
You guys like my DV family, my best friend Andy
MITCHELLI in a box watching a c DC crush. I
don't know if it's the top that yeah, but I
but my daughter's every CDC. I couldn't want to because
I just had that surgery and I refused to have
a cane at the a CD. I'm like, I'm just
out of principle, I won't do it. And there were
(02:23:34):
plenty of canes I could have borrowed at that concert
on stage. In fact, we have luxury accommodations though you
couldn't ask for more, and accommodation thanks to my good
buddy Brooks.
Speaker 7 (02:23:43):
That was ye, thank you Brooks.
Speaker 6 (02:23:45):
Yeah, I don't know. Every time I see him, it's amazing.
My daughter's she's seen the Stones twice with me if
she could, she not seen AC because I refuse to
take her to see the actual Rose version, Like that's
not a c DC.
Speaker 7 (02:23:58):
And I to talk.
Speaker 6 (02:24:00):
You're saying I hate going to Conscience at Dodger Stadium,
and I'm like, I'm gonna go to San Francisco and
see them.
Speaker 7 (02:24:05):
For many reasons. One, you can't tailgate, and that's huge.
Speaker 5 (02:24:11):
That's such a big part of it. Why they just
show Ravine is like, no, no, you.
Speaker 6 (02:24:15):
Just can't tail gate, even like at Dodger games, they
just come through so fast, so you got two.
Speaker 7 (02:24:20):
Or three people get stabbed.
Speaker 6 (02:24:21):
That's why you can't tailgate. Yeah, I mean I wasn't
wearing like a Rush sweatshirt to cause trouble. You can
go see that Rush tour.
Speaker 4 (02:24:31):
No, no, but you don't like Rus.
Speaker 8 (02:24:34):
I'm not.
Speaker 6 (02:24:35):
I'm not a Rush fan my Italian shirt. If you
have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing.
Speaker 7 (02:24:44):
You're so funny because you always say that and then
inevitably you say I'm awful.
Speaker 6 (02:24:51):
I'm gonna turn off the mic. You Yeah, Joe Bartnick,
And I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on the Penguins
last night, and uh, Michael be leading us through the sports.
Speaker 7 (02:25:11):
When we come back.
Speaker 6 (02:25:12):
A reminder Steelers and the Chargers Sunday night football. They're
making to stay up again on Sunday night. I'm pissed
about this, but if he'll be worth it, I think
it'll be a laugher over early.
Speaker 5 (02:25:23):
We'll all get to sleep right on time.
Speaker 7 (02:25:25):
And I hope you're right.
Speaker 6 (02:25:26):

And Amica Insurance. We know it's not just about where you're.
Speaker 6 (02:26:33):
Going, who you're with your sports right now On the
DV Morning Show Joe Bartnick also live in studio from
the two for Talking Podcasts with Josh Joey and the
PuckOff Podcast and Uh Your Pittsburgh Penguins last night? Rave
reviews for two periods from Penguin Nation and then the
third period things went rotten in Toronto Grave reviews.
Speaker 7 (02:26:56):
Yes, other than the ending Missus Lincoln, how'd you like
the game? Yeah?
Speaker 11 (02:27:00):
Sports that ever brought to you by Bridgal Appliants. You know,
if what happened to the Penguins last night in Toronto
had happened last.
Speaker 7 (02:27:07):
Year, or the year before, or the year before, oh,
the year before, yes.
Speaker 11 (02:27:12):
Everybody kind of would have shrugged their shouldiers and said, yeah,
that's that checks, That's what they do, That's who they are.
But the collapse at the Air Canada Center really, excuse me,
Social Bank Arena, really out of characteristic for the new
look Penguins. They were up three to nothing going into
the third period, They had outshot the Leafs seventeen to
(02:27:33):
three in the second period, and then they give up
four goals in a ten minute and twelve second span
of the third period. That included three in three minutes
and twenty four seconds. That went from three point thirty
one of the third three to one to six fifty
five of the third tie game. Joe, what happened?
Speaker 6 (02:27:52):
It was an It went from the greatest dream to
the biggest nightmare. It was three and I think Gino
looked like twenty ten Gino. Eric Carlson looked like Ottawa Carlson.
Then all of a sudden, it was like La Tang
looked like Latang, Jari looked like Jari uh Mused turned
(02:28:15):
into Sullivan, and the worst of all, Brinicki turned.
Speaker 7 (02:28:18):
Into Ryan Graves.
Speaker 6 (02:28:21):
Brinicki got rolled three two goals, he just got They
went right through him.
Speaker 5 (02:28:26):
I'm like, what is going on?
Speaker 6 (02:28:28):
And I took full response because I started returning texts
because I never touched my phone in the game.
Speaker 7 (02:28:33):
It's on you. That one's on your.
Speaker 6 (02:28:36):
It was literally like he's parted for Austin Matthews and
you just knew it was gonna happen.
Speaker 11 (02:28:40):
Because it wasn't the Four Nations face off for the
Olympics or something important.
Speaker 6 (02:28:45):
Yeah, and you know, and then Jari lit up a
couple of softies. They just totally collapsed and I'll tell
you and the no excuses, no excuses. But when then
you can see losing Raquel and and braz and a
Chari because then they really only had about four or
five guys going and that was just it, and all
(02:29:06):
of a sudden they got out classed in the sense
of like when sint Gino were younger, all of a sudden, Hey,
you know what, we're gonna put it on a bunch
of people. And that's what happened to us with Prince
Willie and Matthews, just like, you know what, We're just
gonna win the game now. And it was like we
didn't have enough, We couldn't row any lines.
Speaker 8 (02:29:24):
There was no life.
Speaker 6 (02:29:25):
He put sintant Gino with rust. Then you got Kindo
out there with nobody's and then that's it. It was
like we didn't have enough. It was either and then
you're not texting the right way. Yeah, and then I'm
watching Pat Somrose a football left because I can't stumm
a cocky. I bet that's good. Oh he he drank
(02:29:46):
like I used to know. It was fun. You know,
Thankfully you don't do that anymore.
Speaker 7 (02:29:51):
No, thanksfully.
Speaker 11 (02:29:52):
Penn's went in the last night outscoring teams twenty to
nine in third periods. They didn't give it up nine
goals in third periods, gave up four to last night.
They went in the last night five and zero when
leading after two periods. These are all signs of what
a good team does. You know, shuts a game down
when you have a chance to shut it down, and
(02:30:14):
slipped on a banana peel last night, and.
Speaker 6 (02:30:17):
It was such a way to tell Canadian hockey media, Hey,
it's Toronto. Sid's not leaving, Gino's not leaving. Put it
where the sun don't shine. But no, we let it
slip away. Take it out of where the sun don't
shine it, put.
Speaker 7 (02:30:32):
It where the sun shines.
Speaker 11 (02:30:34):
Second consecutive loss for just the first time since October.
The eleventh and fourteenth. Capital's come in to town Thursday night.
Be a good time to not let this snowball.
Speaker 7 (02:30:49):
I'm sure it'll be fine.
Speaker 5 (02:30:51):
What do you think of this goalie rotation muses rolling
this early in the season.
Speaker 6 (02:30:56):
I like it because I think the Jari needs competition.
I think never Jarry doesn't have someone he thinks is
his equal or could come in and take his job.
I think he's kind of slacks. Last night was the
first time bad Jari appeared. I don't blame him on
the Matthews goal, but the next couple were little soft.
But I basically blame bruneck Is standing around getting run
around knee.
Speaker 7 (02:31:18):
Later he did the rust move. It just went around him.
Speaker 8 (02:31:20):
Just like.
Speaker 7 (02:31:22):
I think Brinicky's got to go back now.
Speaker 6 (02:31:24):
I think against the guy, yeah, because I don't know
if he lost his mojo sitting in a couple of games.
But he doesn't look physically intimidate, even intimidating. But you know,
against the guys that are back in the minors now,
he looked he could handle physically. He can't handle the
real a each ollers right now. I know what's your opinion, Mike,
Did you notice that I haven't seen him enough. To
(02:31:44):
be honest with you, I.
Speaker 7 (02:31:46):
Love the kid.
Speaker 6 (02:31:46):
I wish he just you know. I mean, I think
if Dumbo plays last night, I think they win that game,
because I don't think Dumba gets run over like that
a couple of times.
Speaker 11 (02:31:56):
I am inclined to lean toward playing the kids anyway,
because I still have no expectations for this year. Yeah,
give him some expense, but if they're physically not ready,
they're physically not ready. I mean Kendall obviously two goals
for Ben Kindl last night. He's doing fine. I I
you know, I think you take away siding Gino. I think,
and you know, I'm a rusty guy. I think it's
easy to say Kendle's the third best forward on that team,
(02:32:18):
and he's.
Speaker 7 (02:32:19):
Playing power plays.
Speaker 11 (02:32:20):
He was on the ice at the end of the
game last night when they got the goalie pulled, and
they're trying to I mean, the coach obviously believes in them,
so he's.
Speaker 6 (02:32:27):
Going to the net with reckless and bandit. He's he's
getting beat up like Jake used two, and he's bouncing
right back up.
Speaker 11 (02:32:34):
Twenty seven seventeen Cardinals over the Cowboys and Monday Night Football.
Last night, Steelers have released cornerback Beanie Bishop from their
practice squad. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reporting that Marquez Valdez
Scantling was in Pittsburgh yesterday and he's ready to sign
with the Steelers practice squad. That's an old buddy of
Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Days. Chargers. Left tackle
(02:32:56):
Joe All isn't going to play Sunday night when the
Chargers host of Steelers. He's not going to play again
this season. He is going to have to have surgery
for a high right ankle injury. Chargers have already lost
their right tackle for Shaun Slater to a season ending injury.
It's a big game. Chargers are wounded, and also are
(02:33:19):
the Steelers likely to make the playoffs if they don't
win the North? Oh, I don't And you start thinking,
I don't know about that. A lot of good teams,
a lot.
Speaker 9 (02:33:30):
Of good teams not playing great ball right now, which
means some good teams might not win their division but
are still definitely going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 11 (02:33:38):
So you could be looking at a Steelers Chargers tiebreaker
scenario at some point, and it'd be nice to have
the head to head win, not to mention, the Steelers
could maybe get some traction back and get a little
momentum if they can find a way to win in La.
Sunday night trade deadline is today. One guy they wouldn't
have to trade for cornerback Asante Samuel Junior, follower reporting
(02:34:03):
that he has been cleared by doctors for football activities
after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in April. The guy who
performed the guy who performed the spinal fusion fusion surgery
on a Sante Samuel Junior in April, according to Pro
Football Talk, none other than Steelers neurosurgeon doctor David.
Speaker 22 (02:34:27):
So.
Speaker 11 (02:34:28):
I mean, they should know if he's healthy or not Sunday. Yeah,
Sante Samuel Junior. His dad played in the league. Yeah,
he's a former second round pick of the Chargers out
of Florida State. He has started forty seven of the
fifty career NFL games. He's played only four of those
(02:34:50):
last year. But there's a corner you can get without
having to trade for him. But in a in a
cornerback starved league, he's there's gonna be people interested, But
how interested Based on the history of a bad back.
Speaker 6 (02:35:04):
Spinal fusion is not a bad back. It's not cervical.
Speaker 8 (02:35:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (02:35:12):
By the way, Oconquo did my mom's surgeries too, had
nine of them. Yeah, one more she played which No,
she can't play a corner, she can't play middle, she
can't play slot at all.
Speaker 7 (02:35:24):
Nine nine. Oh good lord? How are you cleared to
play AFL FOOTBA?
Speaker 6 (02:35:30):
Feeling better now though?
Speaker 8 (02:35:31):
Right? Oh?
Speaker 7 (02:35:31):
Yeah, right good?
Speaker 6 (02:35:33):
How are you clear to play NFL football with spine like?
I'm not I'm not allowed to do anything according to
my spine doctor. Really, what did you have done on
your spine? Well, I've had two different surgeries, but the
last one, the major one. They know, they fused a
bunch of discs together and put in metal.
Speaker 8 (02:35:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:35:49):
Does it make you feel less flexible a little bit?
Speaker 7 (02:35:52):
But not too bad.
Speaker 6 (02:35:53):
I mean it really saved it brought me back to life.
Actually it was horrible, I know, but I mean you
just can't do things.
Speaker 8 (02:36:00):
Do you?
Speaker 5 (02:36:00):
Do you have problem at the airport?
Speaker 8 (02:36:02):
No?
Speaker 6 (02:36:03):
No, because I don't think it's like some kind of
metal they don't detect like the newer metal.
Speaker 7 (02:36:07):
They don't detect it. I don't need to have a
special new metal card like limbiscuit, it's not metal wrap.
Speaker 8 (02:36:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (02:36:15):
I follow says teams are interested. Wow, I mean he's
a great player.
Speaker 6 (02:36:19):
He Wasn't there another cornerback that was possibly getting traded today?
I thought I read that yesterday and it's escaping me.
I don't know. It'll be interesting to see what how
active Omar is today. What's what time is the deadline?
Speaker 7 (02:36:33):
Four o'clock, four o'clock.
Speaker 9 (02:36:34):
The team that the stealers are modeling themselves after the Eagles,
I mean they're on the move, they're making moves.
Speaker 11 (02:36:39):
Yeah, Ravens picked up an edge guy yesterday. I think
it seems like trades are more of a thing now
in the NFL.
Speaker 7 (02:36:46):
I agree. There's a lot of trends in the NFL.
Spar in season. Yeah, things that should be super rare.
Speaker 6 (02:36:52):
Dealing a quarterback to a division rival in the middle
of the season. Did you see the Fansky was asked
about Flacco yesterday? He was asked, hey, uh, coach, why
do you think he looks so good in uh Cincinnati?
But he was awful here? And Stefancy's like, yeah, I
(02:37:15):
don't want to talk about any other player that's not here.
It's kind of hilarious. They're like, yeah, have you watched him?
Speaker 7 (02:37:22):
He's lighting it up down there.
Speaker 6 (02:37:24):
And now the Bengals fans are saying, wait a minute,
have we overvalued Joe Burrow? This actually devalues Joe Burrow.
If a forty year old guy can come in here
and do this, maybe Joe Burrow isn't that special.
Speaker 7 (02:37:40):
I think that is silly.
Speaker 8 (02:37:42):
No.
Speaker 11 (02:37:42):
I think it's what this is revealing more than anything else. Well, hey,
it's confirming the greatness of Chason Higgins.
Speaker 7 (02:37:50):
Yep. But Flacco to me, was always an underrated guy.
Speaker 11 (02:37:54):
He knows that he he always has spinning, he always
had an arm, and he always knew how to play.
And he's kind of awkward physically. He's not the new
age read option run around guy. But he's a huge guy,
and I mean he wants some stuff in the NFL.
He's a been there, done that guy.
Speaker 5 (02:38:12):
Oh that run he had to win them the Super
Bowl in Baltimore was epic.
Speaker 7 (02:38:16):
Always threw a great deep ball.
Speaker 11 (02:38:18):
And what this year is really reminding everybody is that
even in the age of the new wave read option
run around quarterback, if you have a veteran guy that
has the head for it and still has arm talent.
Speaker 7 (02:38:31):
That experience can be lethal.
Speaker 6 (02:38:34):
What do you think I mean could put those numbers
up with the receivers you have here.
Speaker 13 (02:38:38):
Yeah, I don't really have a comment on Joe or
any players on other teams, so I don't think it's
appropriate on other teams.
Speaker 9 (02:38:45):
No, I don't really want to talk about how he's
helped the Bengals score one hundred and thirteen points in
three games.
Speaker 4 (02:38:51):
I want to talk about how my ex got hot, yeah.
Speaker 11 (02:38:54):
Even percent a little bit in Arizona. I mean, he's
not as old and he's not as accomplished. He was
always a good NFL quarterback, good solid guy.
Speaker 7 (02:39:03):
He was in Cleveland, he.
Speaker 6 (02:39:05):
Was Cleland, he was in Indye, he was in New England.
Speaker 7 (02:39:08):
Just about everywhere.
Speaker 11 (02:39:08):
But I mean he's playing really well for us him
coming here at one point, but two years from now ready, Yeah,
so you're still too young for us. Tomlin's like, I
can't afford you.
Speaker 1 (02:39:17):
Yet, but soon when you take the highway. Chat and
Tyson is always up for a road trip. He's got
a reloaded cut from Randy Bauman and the DV morning
show Sports.
Speaker 4 (02:39:29):
Hey, Chatman, I was wondering if you could dig down
deep for me today.
Speaker 1 (02:39:34):
And deep cut requests after News with Chat and Tyson
on DV.
Speaker 7 (02:39:40):
Five Words, No one wants to hear you need a
new roof?
Speaker 8 (02:39:43):
What do you do?
Speaker 6 (02:39:51):
It's the DV morning show.
Speaker 7 (02:39:55):
He always.
Speaker 6 (02:39:57):
Joe Bartneck hanging out in studio with us, having a
great time. Yeah, you got a full weekend planned here?
Speaker 13 (02:40:04):
I do.
Speaker 6 (02:40:04):
I think I'm going to see the Turnpike, Troubadours and
something by Turtles.
Speaker 7 (02:40:10):
It's my girlfriend Turtles. That doesn't sound nice. They're great.
Speaker 9 (02:40:15):
Yeah, I mean it feels like it would take forever,
very very slow death, painful death.
Speaker 7 (02:40:21):
You think you could move.
Speaker 6 (02:40:25):
And then trample?
Speaker 8 (02:40:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (02:40:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'll be a great show.
Speaker 6 (02:40:31):
That should be fine. I just hope I can walk
up Cardiac Hill. Yes, so I said, that's a game
time decision.
Speaker 9 (02:40:40):
If I feel like, where the hell do you park? Like,
I guess it's not good to say on the air.
Nobody wants to give away their parking spaces. But Soldiers
and Sailors is where I parked. Just it's a it's
a pretty far walk though. Everything is a far walk
to the Pete. That's the problem. And I remember when
Bill played there.
Speaker 6 (02:40:58):
I didn't. I didn't hear the end of it for
a month because my dad had to carry my mom's
beatballs up that hill.
Speaker 7 (02:41:04):
It was like ten stations of the Cross.
Speaker 6 (02:41:08):
Oh dude, And you guys remembered your father this past weekend, Yes,
we did. We went to they had a memorial for
everyone who died this year among like five different churches.
It was like one hundred and ninety people. So they
set a mas honor honor right at two o'clock. And
like a good son, I went with my mother. That's nice,
(02:41:29):
And like a great seiler fan, I've had my phone
on right next to me in church. So why did
they do it at two o'clock? I wonder that's that's
kind of strange. But it was so many people they
couldn't do it any later.
Speaker 7 (02:41:41):
When the night.
Speaker 6 (02:41:42):
Oh, they like they literally honored all of that. It
wasn't just in memory of and it was understood. They
like they read every name at a very very slow pace,
and then one hundred and ninety names, it was like
a hundred and it was Yeah, it really was. How
long did that take it? Hook from the beginning of
the first quarter to the end of the fourth.
Speaker 9 (02:42:04):
Man, you gotta be careful watching a Steeler game and
in the church setting like that.
Speaker 7 (02:42:09):
Well, you don't want to be like, yes.
Speaker 8 (02:42:11):
No, I was.
Speaker 6 (02:42:14):
The people behind me, you know, when you turn around
to say like, nice to meet you in peace and
all that stuff. The three guys behind me, is it going?
That's how you doing? I got the show next Thursday. Yeah,
(02:42:36):
they all thank you for having the game out, seriously,
the game for having the game on. It took a
long time. I was like, oh my god, can we
speed this up? Like, I mean, is there a bus
that happens the bus go over hill in July? We
not got bed right now, move this along for.
Speaker 8 (02:43:04):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 7 (02:43:04):
The four priests are redded. I think they're on the
gonna be in the list next year.
Speaker 6 (02:43:11):
They made the guys this list longer.
Speaker 7 (02:43:15):
Yeah, they made the list. They made the president on money. Look, young.
Speaker 6 (02:43:21):
George Washington looked like he was on t B compared
to these guys.
Speaker 8 (02:43:29):
Beat the.
Speaker 6 (02:43:34):
Well, that's what happens when you make a comedian sit
in church for three hours. It's just a back yeah right.
I don't know how my back survived that.
Speaker 13 (02:43:42):
No, I was.
Speaker 6 (02:43:43):
I was happy to go for my mom. I don't
my mom going there by herself. Well know, you gotta
support you guys, the franch. Yeah, so she got to
take the candle home, and it was it was a
very nice ceremony. But you know, for someone that reads
that listens to everything on two, yeah, I have a
d D. I don't need someone going Margaret Hatsman and
then like waiting for the woman in her cane and
(02:44:04):
her walker to get to the candle to go and
then come back.
Speaker 8 (02:44:08):
I think I.
Speaker 7 (02:44:10):
Have everybody like hav An Ultar boy up there for them,
like just you know, with a grill lighter. Well that
was the thing.
Speaker 6 (02:44:17):
They did have a grill lighter. But then you know,
then that's a lot of technology for someone who's eighty five. Yeah,
I just have a torch. They can just go through.
Well that's nice that you did it, and I'm glad
that your mom's hanging in there and do it. Yes,
my mom's doing great. She loves you guys. She's she's
just every now and then every time I'm around in town,
(02:44:39):
she's like, we gotta get Randy and everybody over all
make dinner. So dude, I'll come over anytime. That was
one of my favorite dinners of all times, Me and
Versy at the the Bartnik household enjoying your mom's meatballs.
Speaker 7 (02:44:51):
Holy Cow had a lot of.
Speaker 9 (02:44:53):
Issues with you for that event because of the things
that you brought and didn't let him know that you
were bringing gifts.
Speaker 6 (02:44:59):
Well, Versey's just like me and Randy's. Randy's like an
honorary Italian that we always come. We never come empty handed.
People say, don't bring nothing, I'm bringing something.
Speaker 7 (02:45:09):
What do you want?
Speaker 6 (02:45:10):
So Randy comes and goes brings in like five things,
five things because he's a gentleman.
Speaker 7 (02:45:16):
I had wine, and I had Sarah's pretzels.
Speaker 6 (02:45:19):
I think that couldn't. I would never bring so much
when someone else is cooking that I'm like infringing on
the food.
Speaker 30 (02:45:26):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (02:45:27):
No, you didn't know, you were just a gentleman. It was,
It was amazing. Versey had no chance to any of
that because my wallet had fallen out of my jacket
and was underneath Randy's bar. So I had to get
on a flight the next day. So we are backtracking
everywhere I was the night before, which is like six
(02:45:49):
different bars, going everywhere on a Sunday, flying around and
we were actually almost late to get we'll come up
like I want. All of a sudden, it's like me
and VERSI are on like a yeah, ends up and
I think you still have my wallet?
Speaker 7 (02:46:03):
Dude? He and my ex wife to this day is
by bunch of other stuff.
Speaker 6 (02:46:08):
But it was like, how did he not look under
the bar? It's Bartnick. It's like the first place I
would look for anything.
Speaker 7 (02:46:19):
It's in your last name.
Speaker 6 (02:46:21):
But it's like a three hundred and fifty ten pound
bar that he was leaning up against after he'd been
in his cups a little bit, you know what I mean,
And as he's rocking back and forth on it, his
wallet had fallen on the ground and then he kicked
it under the bar on one of those like swinging
forwards and then dropped it right on top. So it
(02:46:42):
wasn't even that you could like look under the bar
and see it. You had to notice that the bar
was actually tilted by the degree of the wallet. Yeah right,
And it was like like somebody cleaning that basement out
one day is like did you know there's a wallet underneath?
Like a year and a half later, and then it's
like Bartnick's licenses in there, and I totally had to
(02:47:03):
just Cramer, like the way on the airplane, just like yeah,
it's just me like.
Speaker 8 (02:47:06):
Yeah, like.
Speaker 7 (02:47:10):
Bartnick, Yeah, I don't know what to tell you, like
I lost it.
Speaker 1 (02:47:14):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (02:47:15):
And then it's so funny because then they went through everything.
They gave me the whole tenth degree. I got through,
but they gave me a piece of paper to say
this counts. I totally then forgot the piece of paper
and they walked away about to get on the train,
and I'm like.
Speaker 7 (02:47:27):
Oh my god, where'd the paper go?
Speaker 6 (02:47:29):
I run back and then all the cops are like,
what's this? Who's this guy coming?
Speaker 7 (02:47:33):
What's he? And they saw him and grab the paper
and like all ten of them just laughing, like this clown.
Speaker 6 (02:47:38):
If I see Bartnick running at me and I'm a cop,
I mean I didn't you're like one of the guys
in weapons, I might at that point be like draw,
you know, like, oh no, I'm a peaceful man. Yeah,
I'm a pieceful man.
Speaker 7 (02:47:52):
Joe Bartnick. When's your next improv show here?
Speaker 6 (02:47:55):
You know, a couple of months or what, Yeah, probably
coming in January probably hopefully. All right, Well, enjoy your
weekend in Pittsburgh. And enjoy Trampled by Turtles and Turnpike
Troubadours and yeah we go the Penguin bringing bringing my
mom to the Penguins game on Sunday, So let's go, Penns.
Hopefully maybe you can have church on your phone while
the Penguins game is going on.
Speaker 8 (02:48:14):
We might need it.
Speaker 6 (02:48:19):
Thanks to Charlie Batch, thanks to Jean Starah Tour, Tomorrow's
show is packed, uh mister Wednesday, the afore mentioned Jeff Concole,
Merril Hodge, PFC commenter Mark Man, and a special guest
that you'll have to tune in to find out about tomorrow.
Here on the d V Morning Show, Abby, I forget anything.
Speaker 4 (02:48:37):
No, you didn't. You did a great job, Randy, tell
me you did so good.
Speaker 7 (02:48:42):
No, I'm just saying I don't want to screw up you.
Everyone well yours so bad.
Speaker 4 (02:48:48):
You know what, anything can happen on Halloween. Anything can
happened on.
Speaker 7 (02:48:54):
I think that just for good Luck's sake, we have
to ram it before I right, you can ram it
all night.
Speaker 34 (02:49:02):
No, rabbits, Ramming right now is winning.
Speaker 7 (02:49:17):
If you throw it that way, it's going to be right.
Speaker 4 (02:49:19):
I like your rams.
Speaker 2 (02:49:20):
You can see no buddy like ramming.
Speaker 7 (02:49:28):
Process.
Speaker 6 (02:49:34):
This is what in my movies, Like jan they called
me to do special, I know, toasted the head, knock you,
I mean knocking somebody dead and then ramming them seems.
Speaker 7 (02:49:47):
To be that's yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:49:49):
I think they gets you in trouble. They made a
little Netflix series about that.
Speaker 7 (02:49:55):
Ram All right, we gotta go.
Speaker 6 (02:49:59):
Oh your game day bar the week Scarpace's in Mount
Washington this NFL season, stopped Scarpace's and enjoy three dollars
bud Like twelve ounce bottles during all Steelers games.
Speaker 7 (02:50:07):
Bud Like easy to drink, easy to enjoy.
Speaker 6 (02:50:09):
I'm finished. You stay classy, Pittsburgh.
Speaker 7 (02:50:12):
Don't touch your face.
Speaker 5 (02:50:13):
I got him type all day, baby, But now you
gotta call me Ronald?
Speaker 4 (02:50:17):
Would you not eat my pants?
Speaker 2 (02:50:18):
Ronald oh Man?
Speaker 6 (02:50:23):
Whay, goggle ahead.
Speaker 19 (02:50:28):
It's time for the Steelers Daily Report on DVE, brought
to you by Callie and Pizza and Draft Holes, three
time world pizza champions at Steelers Pro Shop. Get it
direct from the team at shop dot Steelers dot com.
Here's Tom Opperman.
Speaker 24 (02:50:41):
The Steelers defense on Sunday afternoon for six takeaways and
sacked Colts quarterback Daniel Jones five times as they effectively
shut down the NFL's number one offense for most of
the game. Perhaps even more impressive than the number of
turnovers the defense was able to force against the team
that had only turned the ball over four times this
season heading into the game, was the defense is the
ability to successfully shut down the NFL's leading rusher, Jonathan Taylor.
(02:51:04):
Taylor was coming off of performance where he ran for
one hundred and fifty three yards on just twelve carries
against the Titans, but he was held to his lowest
rushing total of the season so far by the Steelers.
The defense held the All Pro Improbable offensive player of
the year to just forty five yards on fourteen carries
and held Taylor out of the end zone for the
first time in four games. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin
(02:51:24):
will address the media today for his weekly press conference
and will provide updates on the state of the team
as they turn the page and begin to get ready
for a trip to the West Coast to take on
the LA Chargers on Sunday Night Football on Tom Opperman
with your Steelers Report.
Speaker 7 (02:51:41):
The Black and Gold faith will always travel
