Speaker 1 (00:01):
Guaranteed human.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Poor man rush for the students to a back pressure
coming and Cam Hayward with the sack and it is
his first sacks. It's October sixteenth that Cincinnati Hayward has
been all over the field.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Big defensive effort last night, Cam Hayward.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
They needed to step up with the injuries they had
on the defensive line, Derek Harmon and also having teach
a Watt out of that game meant you needed the
big guys to step up who were still there, Cam
one of them. The Dolphins were just a bad football team.
Steelers emerge victorious twenty eight to fifteen. They did all
of the right things. So I'm not gonna try to
(00:47):
nitpick right now. You won a game you were supposed
to win, and you did it handily. And as a
Steeler fan, I appreciated that I didn't have cortisol shooting
through my veins right up until the time expired, and
then had to try to go to sleep. I actually
I think by eleven thirty I was asleep. That's pretty
(01:07):
damn good for a Monday night football that.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, I went to bed probably about one, but I
was relaxed. Yeah, we won the game. Easily. I was
just thinking, you know, when do we ever just get
to enjoy I think it's all about having an offense.
You can never enjoy a game when you're just one
bad turnover away from losing, right and that game, we
were three or four bad turnovers away from losing at
the end. So it was fun.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Twenty two first downs for the Steelers last night to
Miami sixteen. They were only four of thirteen on third down,
but they were three of three on fourth downs last night,
and as Mike said earlier, total play sixty two to
forty eight, and that was a disparity that had been
going the other way for the Steelers for a long time,
so much so that it was shaping up for the
defense to play like three whole more games than the offense.
(01:54):
They turned that around last night. I don't think Miami
is a very good football team, but I think that
they've got enough weapons that they could have made that
a much different looking game, particularly in the first half.
The Steelers hung in there, and Joe, as you've pointed out,
the Dolphins were physical last night.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
They were hitting. I've ever seen Warn look like he
ran into a brea. He looked like Wiley coyote, like
hitting the wall like it'd be third and two and
you're like, oh, we got it, and it'd he's stuck
like that's it.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
There's there were a few plays where he held onto
the ball where I thought, I don't know how he
did that. Calvin Austin on that one punch, I don't
know how he held onto that one. So the Dolphins
definitely came in last night with the mission to play.
They knew they were playing against the Steelers in Pittsburgh
frigid temperatures, So kudos to them for bringing it physically.
But I just think their quarterback's an absolute mess. Also,
(02:48):
I don't know why they I think they should have
just stuck with the run. The lack of patients people
have with the run. Live to fight another day, punt
and run the ball again with the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Did that to come out in the third quarter last night?
Five consecutive runs.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Nice play action, Scantlon wide open for the touchdown.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
That's how you do it, Steeler football. Yeah, I mean
being bent of Miami run. Though that guy was running
like he was angry. He's very good. I mean, like
we had other than the one Herbeck's arm the guy
could still be running.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, herbig maybe with the tackle of the night there
in the first quarter season Yeah, I mean while he's
on the ground, just lifts up his arm and trips
up eight chen enough to keep him from going very
far because he had daylight ahead of him. Good crowd
for the Steelers fans last night. I gotta say, no booing.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Renegade. It's back, it's fun. Renegade is back. We love
Renegade again. We love Renegade.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
We love the renegade Steelers twenty eight Dolphins fifteen that
they're eight and six now and head to Detroit. If
they could beat Detroit and the Browns, it's over. The
Ravens game doesn't matter. I don't know that that's gonna happen.
If the Ravens lose one, that is to say, and
they've got to face the Patriots and Green Bank and Joe, you.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Think they're losing both. I definitely think they're losing both.
I mean, Cincinnati laid down, they didn't in that game,
and the Pats are gonna be mad. They look like
the Penguins this weekend. They blew a twenty one nothing lead.
The that game was nuts. That Buffalo game he was.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
And then Denver, Denver looks great. Denver raudal left is
a ten in a row. They've one now, yeah, all right,
well more to come. Jean's territory will join us too.
And a recap of last night's Monday Night win. A
nice one for the Steelers. It feels good going into
the holiday year.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Abby were to.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Love seeing Aaron Rodgers happy.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Oh it really did warm my heart. Oh he's talking
trash on the sidelines last night. And a good night
for Aaron Rodgers and your Pittsburgh Steelers. Twenty three or
twenty seven and twenty four yards, a couple of touchdowns,
he got sacked a couple of times where I thought
you could have got rid of them. There was a
first down waiting Gainwell just sitting there and Aaron Rodgers
(05:04):
was looking for something a whole lot bigger on a
third and three in the second half.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
The drive in the first half, would we got knocked
out of field goal range?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Over?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Oh yeah, oh come on, buddy. Yeah, that was a
tough one. But other than that, pretty good night from him.
But a huge night from Gainwell. Eighty yards on the
ground and forty six yards receiving on top of that.
He was outstanding. They they love, they love Mount Washington,
don't they. Although I think that Mount Washington has to
(05:31):
stop bending down to hit people. Just stay up like
they don't want to tackle you. Just jump over.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Them, keep running. They're like a little chi Wawells trying
the bitest. Wow. I'd love to see him just do
a one jump, you know, just leap over them.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Feeling and Scantling both Valdez Scantling both get receptions last night.
Marquez Valdez Scantling goes for the touchdown on a nineteen
yard reception there and Feeling picking up I think was
a first down for seven yards. But you know, a
nice balanced attack last night, most of it was just
dumping down to gain well. He led with seven receptions
(06:10):
last night, Michael. Have more on that coming up at
the bottom of the hour. Our buddy Joe Bartnickingen in
studio with us and Abbey's got your news right now.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
What's up is this hour?
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Barati by Keystone Basement Systems Web Basement, Keystone Basementsystems dot Com.
Intervals of clouds and sun and I have thirty seven
current temperature is sixteen degrees all right, this was a
post in the Wall Street Journal talking about the phenomenon
that young dater's face that can be a vibe, if not.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
A full on relationship killer.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
It is called the swag gap, and it refers to
a fundamental difference in the way that two people carry
and present themselves that goes beyond the beauty meets brain
dynamic long depicted in popular culture. So it's more of
like I'm dressed for cocktail hour and my partner is
dressed for or a remote workday situation.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So if the.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
Cautionary tales on social media or any indication, it's a
misalignment that should serve as a warning signal to get
out before anybody gets hurt. The movement was powered by
an internet meme about women in heels and men in crocs.
So the example that's in the articles and crocs is
(07:25):
a photo from twenty twenty three, and it's Haley Bieber,
who of.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Course is a model gorgeous ten out of ten.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
She's photographed en route to this event for her skincare brand,
and she's in this red strapless dress, heels, purse matches.
She's like got it on lock, but beside her, or
rather behind her a little bit is her husband, Justin Bieber,
and he's in this gray like sagging hoodie with matching
(07:55):
shorts and a pink cap and he's wearing yellow crocs. Yeah, despicable,
a big style mismatch.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
So that is called the swag gap.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
I love the swag gap. That's a great way to
describe it. And I've seen it time and time again.
You cannot have that big of a disparity. Now, I'm
I'm not one of those people who'll be on the
tip of fashion. There are couples. You see them when
they are out, and it appears to be very important
to the the girl that the guy has all of
(08:27):
his p's and keys, so on the fashion end of things,
all right, I think, like, that's a that's a girl
I would never make happy.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
It's just not gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
No, like, no time.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, you can tell it right away.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
It's like, well, this is what they're about there. They're
about that swag, both of them. It's important to them.
I get it. It's not important to me. But I'm
not stupid enough to know that. I can't go out
looking like a slop. And that happens all you see
it constantly, particularly.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And I want to, like, come on, come on in Pittsburgh. Yay,
we see it here a lot, here a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
There's a lot of women who are dressed to the
nines ready to go, and then there's a dude wearing
a Steelers jersey. You gotta try just a little bit,
Just a little bit, that's all. That's all the ladies want,
right Abby, You gotta try a little bit.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
I want to see some effort.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Shoes once in a while. Shoes, not not crocs or sneakers.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
How about something without a flexible waistband.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Something with a button.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Okay, buttons are good.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Give me something with a button.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
I just think, like, I mean, the the photo that
they use in the example.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
And maybe I'm going a little hard on this one,
but it's who I am when I see that photo
of her, not only because of the occasion of why
she's so dressed up and he's not. Because she's launching
a brand, she's in heels and she looks incredible and.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
He's schlepping along.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
Yeah, I'm like, he not only can't your swag, he.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Hates you, oh my.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
God, so much he does.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
He is probably jealous of her success that in that
specific relationship dynamic.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I mean, her company's worth like a billion dollars.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Yeah, and I mean I don't think Bebes is on
the like pop culture radar like.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
He used to be.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Definitely not.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
You need to hit the bar that your woman sets. Yeah,
there's a bar, and you have to hit that either.
And it's better to hit that on your own than
when you're just about to walk out the door, because
then you have to change everything. Yeah. Yeah, there's just
a bar, you know, and that's it. Yeah, in my
bar is very low, it's not very high, you know,
but you just got to hit it.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
I remember I was I was out with someone and
we just started to see each other and she goes,
I'd love to see what you look like at a
card again, because I was probably wearing, you know, whatever
crap I wear, and just I was underdressed.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
She's like a cardigan. I was like a cardigan. I
got some news for you. You're gonna be very very disappointed.
I'm like, we might as well.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
It was great, it was great meeting you and all
the best going forward.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
This is not gonna work.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
I'd love to see what you look like in a cardigan.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
I was like, I was like just a cardigan. There
you go.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
It is the only situation which that's hot.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
And then it's a beautiful day a cardian.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
I was like, just saying that sentence illuminates so much
for me, Like we're just it's not gonna happen, a
high five.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
High five, high five. We're going to be friends.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Friend. Yeah, I'm now my girlfriend now was like, she
messed with me. She goes, I wanted to see you
in a three piece suit, which I didn't even own
a sports coach. Because you don't have a sportcode. I thought,
I can't imagine you don't. That was my dad's no,
because I I lost weight and I just can't fit
into my sport coats. And then now and it didn't
(11:59):
make it. None of my sport coat has made it
to any of my four storage units. I was like,
you know what, I don't fit in any of these.
All right, well let's get you. Let's get you over
to the men's warehouse. There you go. Sponsored sponsorship. It's
funny out how much time we have. But no, because
when I took my girlfriend to Broadway is one of
our you're not talking about beach view. No, meeting some
(12:22):
very important friends of mine, and she's a I have
a beautiful girlfriend. She was wearing pants slash and I
was just like, you're not wearing a dress. So now
she's like because she does, I'm Kojack, Like everything for
me is like from nineteen seventy four. And then the pants.
(12:42):
I can accept that she had a coat, and I
called it a sport. I'm like, am I dating Mary
Tyler Moore? Like, I'm not dating Murphy Brown? I'm not
dating Murphy Brown. One next to vote. Yeah. I just
think when you're dressed up, you wear a dress. I
know women look good pants and I'm not trying to
be anti feminist, but well.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Did you make it clear that that's what you were
going for on the night or do you just assume
Broadway meant because I've been to Broadway shows and in
no way, shape or form, are is everybody dressed the same.
I mean the last one I went to was the
one man show of a Bronx Tail and ninety percent
of the theater were people from Stanton Island wearing you know, Adidas.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Tracksuits, right, But I mean that's you know, that's how
they went to dressed that way when you're you know,
it was It was like she's meeting Burr in clubsit
of Keednie for the first time. Okay, I would I
don't want. I don't want them to think you're dating
a gym teacher. Oh she's an assistant volleyball coach. That's
fantastic third base. What upball team do you play? Yeah? Yeah, look,
(13:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
I think you know, you got to clarify just you know,
if you're if that's something that you're concerned about, you
gotta be like, hey, do you.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Mind getting She knew she she brought a black dress
to say I love her a black dress. Okay, it's
the best. Yeah, sure, get gussied up. It's just brought.
And she's like, well, why are you just wearing I go,
I'm wearing my best tennis shoes and.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Shirt.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah kind of shoe.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
But you were wearing sneakers too, and you're mad about
her wearing pants.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
She loves you already, Randy. Now you're going to take
her out on the Yeah, I'm just saying.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
I'm just saying, can you hear it when you say it?
What is it like when you say it?
Speaker 1 (14:25):
That's all. They were very nice. They were very nice. Uh,
they were very nice sneakers. Maybe they were nice, very
nice black pans. They're a very nice black shirt. Okay,
I'm a sneaker guy.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I think you can get away wearing sneakers in a
lot of places if the rest of the situation is yeah,
they're they're very nice, Okay, freshly clean, no dirty laces.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Oh no, no, no, no, okay, like my stage, she's like
the kind the kind I bring in my suitcase so
they don't touch the ground target on stage.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Sure, yeah, do you like the roy Wood Junior thinking
spray pam on the bottom of them so they never
get dirty?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
But what wo that's like a secret? Yeah, dirt doesn't
get on the bottom of them.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
And that was specifically so that if you wanted to
send them back to Zappos, you could wear them a
few times if you put pam on the bottom of them.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
They know, I just have a couple of nice pairs
of sneakers. I'm not crazy. I'm not like you know,
ob se Verzi like a walk on his tiptoes in them. Dude.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
There's like that famous video of it of the who
was it that took his shoes off to not get
a crease in them? It's escaping me. Someone will tweet
it to me. I'm sure, but that's a big thing,
not getting the crease. I think about it too now.
I never think I don't know. I mean, I don't care,
but I think all the would be a crease. I
had my best tennis shoes on and she had the
(15:41):
temerity to wear pants. Well that that is not exactly
the swag gap, I don't think, but that's more of
a personal preference.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
You wanted a little more of an old school night.
I get it. You know, it's like it's probably we're
dressing up. What'd you go see? Uh? Glen Gary Glenn Ross?
When was in that? Yeah? So cool. We were like
the best seats in the house. Kenny took care of it.
It was. It was incredible. We had to go on
stage and be like you know, with the not during
to play obviously, but afterwards that would be quite the Yeah,
(16:11):
it was an incredible it was. It was so funny
because he was just a bill was the whole play
was incredible.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Yeah, Joe Bartnet can study with us as we are
trying to, uh, I don't know make sense of last
night's Monday Night went for your Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I feel like I should be feeling a lot better
than I do.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
Well, you're afraid because the vibes were so high. Now
you got to go into the Lions and you're wondering,
are they too high?
Speaker 3 (16:35):
It's a swag gap between Yeah, the Dolphins and the
Lions this Sunday. Yet I want to get too cocky.
Two eight and six teams at Ford Field. Michael have
More on last night Steelers victory. Aaron Rodgers and Kenneth
Gainwell on offense getting it done. Also, DK metcalf fifty
five yards last night on three receptions and that touchdown
was just a complete highlight. Well of your top plays
(16:57):
of the game. Jeans Terrator also going to be joining
us in rob King with a power hour of Steeler
talk coming up. Steelers twenty eight, Dolphins fifteen, your radio
home of the Black and Gold DVE.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
Did you play something for me?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
The answer is always yes. When you build the menu,
you know.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
What that would make my day so much better.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
The all request the Electric Lunch weekdays at noon on
DVE from the Bridgeville Appliance Weather Center, known for exceptional service.
Speaker 8 (17:24):
Bridgeville Appliance is looking for exceptional service Techs contact Bridgeville
d E sports.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
All right, our buddy Joe Barnet can studio with us
micro Souder Now with your sports. Steelers twenty eight Dolphins fifteen.
And if you look at the numbers, the stats of
this game.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Look, if you told me that.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Two was going to be twenty two of twenty eight
with two hundred and eighty five yards fifty three two
hundred and fifty three yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
You said, you'd think, Wow, they probably won. Yeah, there
are lies. There are damn lies, and then there are
statistics too. Is lied like a rug.
Speaker 9 (18:03):
Last night sports as are brought to you by Bridgeville
appliance to it was terrible numbers. Aside, the Steelers were
deliberate in their start. I don't want to say slow.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
But his passion rating was one hundred and thirteen too. Yeah,
it's hilarious. Take that back to Miami and thought out.
Speaker 9 (18:26):
The Steelers were deliberate initially, but they just dominated the
third quarter and wound up what for the Steelers qualifies
as a laugh for twenty eight to fifteen. The weather
at Actresser was frightful on Monday night, but Steelers quarterback
Aaron Rodgers right in his element against Miami.
Speaker 8 (18:46):
I'm a California kid, but boys enjoyed playing in the
cold weather. I feel like there's there could be some
advantages to the offense, especially when you're playing on a
field that's a little beat up or super slick like
Green Bay came. Over the years, I've always enjoyed, enjoyed that.
You know, I'm gifted with, you know, hands that can
(19:09):
handle a gold ball, and and you know ball it's
a little slick when the weather gets cold like this,
so I always been able to throw it pretty good.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
But you know, it's.
Speaker 8 (19:20):
Doesn't tell the whole story. There was some some nice catches,
there were some good adjustments, there were some dinking dunks.
But I knew I needed to be efficient today, especially
I didn't play a bunch of showing, and I feel
like we were pretty efficient.
Speaker 9 (19:32):
Can he pick a catch it a little in direct
stray there? That got My hands are big to handle
a slip ball. Rogers said that Miami played a lot
of cover too. I I maybe saw more single high
than he did.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
I'll defer to him.
Speaker 9 (19:48):
Uh, maybe they were disguising cover two with single high.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
You're saying he passed up some opportunities, particularly early in
the game. But all's well, that ends well.
Speaker 9 (19:57):
Aaron Rodgers twenty three of twenty seven for two hundred
twenty four yards two touchdowns. His pass rating was one
twenty five point nine. Rogers completed eighty five point two
percent of his passes. The only time he's been better
in that department in his twenty one year career was
when he completed eighty six point four percent against Caroline
(20:19):
a week seven of the twenty fourteen season.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Wow, he was dialed in last night. I mean it
hit some tight windows too. That DK touchdown.
Speaker 9 (20:28):
At my god, the safety number twenty one came diving
in and just barely miss knocking that down or picking
it off, and then Metcalf did the rest.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Rogers in command.
Speaker 9 (20:39):
During that twenty eight to fifteen victory, as he had
been on December the seventh against Baltimore, he.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Wasn't quote unquote in the zone, but close enough.
Speaker 8 (20:49):
I feel good, you know, I feel like to be
in the zone. Maybe there'd be some more like down
the field shots. I mean, it wasn't because of the
defense they were playing at the coverage, especially at the
safety position. It wasn't a ton of down the field shots.
So I think it was a very efficient game, but
I expect to in that type of game to be efficient.
(21:12):
And obviously in this case, we caught the ball, we
got open. But the zone is a state, you know,
the flow state is they like to put the tag
on it. Now, it's like that's obviously the desired destination
every single week. But it's all about efficiency and being
smart with the football.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
We'll tell you he almost had one huge downfield chunk
and it was a great play by Aaron Rodgers to
hurry up and snap the ball and catch them with
twelve minute on the field. If Scanlon doesn't get napped
just a little bit, he got hooked just a little
bit on his break.
Speaker 9 (21:43):
That was almost That was see you later. Big development
of the night for the Steelers and everything else. The
secondary to thirty three minutes and thirty three seconds of
time of possession, which allowed them to run sixty two
offensive place to Miami's forty eight. That has been a
problem all season and boy would certainly improve their chances
(22:06):
whatever they're going to do in the playoffs if they
get there.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
They got to reverse.
Speaker 9 (22:11):
That season long trend of just leaving the defense out
there to get beat up and worn out and beaten down,
and a big step in that direction last night. Also
fifty five points in the last two games. Now after
the twenty eight last night.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
That's uh.
Speaker 9 (22:28):
Stuff that the Steelers are not used to ever since. Well,
how long's it been. It's been a long time, Joe.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yes, Mike, I'm to ask someone who knows what they're
talking about. Do you think I'll call somebody?
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
No, I want to ask them, and I think you
would know. Do you think that the two new receivers
made a difference in the fact that more guys were open,
It got Friarmouth open. It just seemed like a totally
different offense last night.
Speaker 9 (22:53):
Rogers had said leading up to the game that you're
talking about Marquez, Valdez Scantling and Adam Feeling. Yes, that
they were where they were supposed to be when they
were supposed to be there. That helps him not get sacked,
That helps other guys get open, That helps to keep st.
K Metcalf from getting too much attention. Yeah, it all
adds up. And I think those guys, I mean, I
(23:14):
don't think Adam Ceelan or Valdas Scantling are going to
have eight catch for one hundred and forty yard game.
But if they can just contribute and you got to
touchdown out of scantling last night. Fourteenth by the way,
Rogers to scantling all time. Fourteen's a big number for
a wide receiver quarterback combination. Celand I think could be
(23:36):
a third down guy, an extend possession guy. They're going
to stick their hand in the pile and help move
it forward. And the biggest thing they got going for
those two things those guys have going for them. They're experienced,
they they're pros. They know how to do this, and
they're not five to ten. Yeah, he can see them.
You can't have three short guys one if he's really fast,
(24:02):
Calvin Austin, you can you can get away with. You
got to have some size, particularly down the field. Fifty
five points, as we were saying, a lot of points
for the Steelers and enough to raise expectations. Well, Aaron
Rodgers didn't want to go there.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
You guys can expect whatever the hell you want. But
you know, we are four thirteen on third down a
lot that's in the first half in the four a
minute drew, but three or three on fourth down was good.
We finally had more you know, sixty two plays, which
we have been doing in a while. Obviously efficient throwing
the football. We had three sacks, one of them was
(24:41):
on me to keep the clock going on the fourth quarter,
or really just two sacks.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Three for three in the red zone.
Speaker 8 (24:48):
You know, we haven't been the most dynamic explosive offense
this season, but I feel like we've been good in
the red zone. I don't know where we're at leak wide,
but we got to be in the you know, upper half, mom,
I wouldn't assume, and you know, we've had stretches where
we played good football. I think tonight was the first
time we had complimentary football in all three phases.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
And that's the standard.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
So we're going to try and meet that next week
in the treatment this week in Detroits.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yeah, I think they're six in red zone offense.
Speaker 9 (25:18):
They've been They've been really good at red zone offense
and red zone defense all year. If they can just
get better between the twenties, Yeah, and last two weeks
are starting.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
To coach Mike McDaniel last night, who looked absolutely freezing
on the sidelines wearing my aunt's glasses after the game,
had this to say.
Speaker 10 (25:35):
Supremely disappointed in the outcome, and you know, I think
it does a disservice to you know, really the objective,
the work that we were doing on this opponent, and
flat out their team was better than our team. So
(25:55):
focused on that and what we have to do for
the up coming next forty eight hours as we get
ready for Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
He's got to wait to get stoned until after the
press conference.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Why do you think he's ever not?
Speaker 3 (26:10):
It's crazy. He's an out there dude. Man Steelers with
a big win last night.
Speaker 9 (26:17):
Now, I keep looking for Scooby Doo on his side.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
If they beat Detroit on Sunday and then beat the
Browns the week after that in Cleveland, that's it.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
That's all she wrote, And the Ravens game won't matter.
Speaker 9 (26:32):
I don't know if if they lose one, yeah, yeah,
it's it's complicated.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
I can go through that at some point if you'd like.
It's looking like though it's gonna come down to Yeah.
Speaker 9 (26:42):
I mean, if they beat Detroit week eighteen, that's pretty big.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
F wait, they have to beat Detroit. No, but no,
I'm saying it's looking like no matter what happens. It's
going to come down to that last game.
Speaker 9 (26:55):
I would say it's more likely that it will than
it won't, right, I don't know the ball. I don't
know Pittsburgh's going to beat Detroit. I don't know that
Baltimore is going to lose. Both the New England game
and the Green Bay game. I think Baltimore will lose
one of those. Feel pretty good about that. If Chador
beats the Steelers, oh my god.
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Oh come on, I'm nervous about Detroit. I'm not nervous
about the Browns.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
I'm with you on that one, although that could change.
Maybe it depends what happens to Detroit.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Like, oh god, we really got to beat the Brownsts.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I just don't.
Speaker 9 (27:27):
They'll lose to Detroit and then the sky will be
falling again and everybody should be fired again and everybody
sucks again.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
And then yeah, and then it'll be Christmas. It's nice
to get a break for that last.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Jean's Deritor joining us when we come back. Abby, you'll
have your news at the top of the hour.
Speaker 6 (27:43):

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Good morning, Good morning everybody.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I mean, nice win for our Pittsburgh Steelers there last
night at Akrotur Stadium and frigid temperatures, no doubt. You know,
our buddy Joe Bartnec is in suting you with us,
and he was just asking about this.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
What happened to the halo rule in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
I mean, Calvin Austin got decked the moment he caught
the ball last night.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Isn't there some.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Level of protection that's supposed to be afforded the kick
returner on a.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Punt, Not on Sundays.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
No, No, no halo, no yard little you know, free
space in front where he has that safety protection.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
No, not at all in this league.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
When you play on Sunday and you're looking up at
that punt, you better be sure, you know, because if
they time it right like they did last night, that's
that's all legal.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Isn't that incongruous with the rest of the rules the
league has in place? They changed the gig off rule
so that nobody gets hurt, but you can murder an.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
We have to keep a little bit of it in there.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
Yeah yeah, yeah, let us face and nothing against the
punt returners either, but we'll protect the quarterbacks, yes, But
a couple of you other guys, hey, you know, keep
your head on a swivel. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
You know, what I liked about last night's game is
that they didn't call a lot of penalties. There was
a lot of holdings that weren't called. They let them
play last night. I don't know if that had to
do with the cold temperatures, but it was a little
easier to watch that game than a lot of the
other ones that went on this weekend that were you know,
flags were thrown all over the field. Uh, they let
(30:47):
them play last night. How does that a game like
that unfold. Is it just coincidence or is it a
vibe amongst the rest where they're like.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
We're cold, too cold, Let's keep this clock running.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Let's move it along right now. Listen and defense, and
really an appreciation of Land Clark and that crew.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Last night.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
I thought they refereed a really good football game. I mean,
you know, we talk a lot when we're talking with
officials throughout the season in the NFL, especially when you
have regular plays, when officials get the football clean the
last playoff, get the football down, get back to your
positions with thirty seconds left on that play clock, and
let quarterbacks and offenses get into their rhythm and you
(31:33):
get a flow of game. The game a lot of
times does play better. You know, they sounds like crazy thoughts,
but you know, in this league, quarterbacks can dictate the
tempo of football games when they're on point and when
things are set in a good efficient manner. And I
really really did think. I actually texted them this morning already.
I really thought that's what they did last night. When
(31:55):
you do that, players play better, and I think the
game plays better, and and then you hope, kind of
what I felt like happened last night, files go down right,
and then you make that good decision, I think really,
and the downfield officials are probably taxed with it a
little more. Like you just said, like, let the players play.
We don't want to see penalties not called penalties, and files.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
You know and call them.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
But when we get into that gray area where you know,
it's a man's game tonight, now we're playing for it's
getting bigger, let some of that stuff you know, unfold.
And I think when you get in that rhythm and
you have a couple good no calls right good plays
where man I could have had a TICKI tech there,
but we just let it play through. There's a vibe
(32:38):
that happens then that can be contagious as well, and
I think that's good for the game. I thought they
did a really good job at that last night.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
And that's the you know, the thing that you bring
up all the time. By allowing the human element back
into the game and not micro analyzing everything, you actually
get the flow of the game back.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
That's right, That's exactly right. Those are the most lead
athletes coaches in the world. They live on efficiency. That's
that's what they're programmed to do. From day one at Latrobe.
When you keep them in those rhythms all teams, they
functioned better and there still is that human condition and
I think I think they did a really really good
job at that last night, and I thought the game
(33:18):
played that way, you know, I mean, to me, one
of the biggest plays and when I really felt like
Pittsburgh and Aaron Rodgers specifically was just playing at that
level where I fondly remember being on the field with him,
was when he caught the player with twelve on the field, right, Yeah,
something really close.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
That's huge.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
Those are huge, huge plays because not only was that
a first down, you just took three and a half
more minutes out of this football game more than likely, right,
I mean, there's such a chess match happening and something
just like that, And what he really was saying is
we're mentally prepared. Everybody's on point here they aren't, and
(33:56):
we got the right. So there's again there's a human
condition in that chess match there that plays in your head.
And I thought that was a really huge play less
night for a lot of different reasons.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
So another play that I thought was really big a
call in the third quarter, there's three minutes left, the
Steelers are up twenty one to three. They're deep in
their own territory. It's like third and eight or something
like that, and Rogers throws underneath the friarmuth. Jordan Brooks
stops him short of the first down, and then he's
(34:29):
called for taunting, which gives the Steelers a first down,
which was absolutely backbreaking for the Dolphins because if they
get the ball back there and it's twenty one to ten,
you know you got a full quarter to play a
little different.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Did that.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
In your estimation look like it was enough to amount
to a taunting call.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
The physical standover that they kind of isolate on the replay. No,
I did not think it was enough. Now in defense,
and I haven't spoken with any of the guys that
were on the.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Field last night.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
There was a lot of other talk happening in there,
and there's not many things that you would flag for
taunting verbally, right, but there are a few. And I
don't know if that's what occurred. I don't want to speculate,
but you could see there was a little there was
a two more three more clicks of the trash talk
at that point. And you don't know what led up
(35:27):
to that either. You know, there were a couple of
that player last night twenty and I've apologized or not
remember he was he was sticking people last night. I
mean that that game had some serious hits. You guys
alluded to it earlier in the earlier block, but you
just don't know if that was the case, right, I don't. Look.
I hope it wasn't the posture standing because I think
(35:48):
in that moment, you don't it wasn't like the full
on you know, I'm straddling you and I own you
kind of feel. It kind of was just that moment
in time, and then he got away from it. Following
that there was an extended level of burbage.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Yeah, there was.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
I don't know what prompted that, you know what I mean, like.
Speaker 9 (36:07):
A bulldrm situation or.
Speaker 12 (36:09):
A little more than even the longest yard might be
put that way. You know, I know I broke his neck,
but I know I broke his neck. Yeah, but not
any more than that, right, Okay?
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Yeah, I thought maybe I thought that they might have
been looking at targeting there, like helmet to helmet or something,
because it looked like it was a direct headshot. But
there's a little shoulder in there. What what can you
say to somebody to get a talk? I didn't realize
in that short of a period of time you can
you can throw someone something out at someone?
Speaker 13 (36:46):
Yes, does it have to be like a death threats?
They say a lot to each other. It wasn't that
long of a conversation, that was it.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
But this is the morning show. Yeah, I would say this,
let's let our imaginations just take us to that place somewhere.
You know, there would be a few things. And again,
were there three or four plays prior to were there
different situations that evolved? You don't there's a management maybe
(37:19):
piece of that involved in that play, And again I
don't I don't want to speculate and say it was
one of these things or not one of these things.
If it was just for the standing over, then that
play didn't fit in the essence of how they worked
the rest of that game. And I think Troy Aikman
alluded to that a little right just because of what
we visually saw if you.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Were listening to the game from home.
Speaker 5 (37:39):
And I think that's where that that lied. But but
again I don't want to guess as to what it was.
But that was my thought is that there was there
was a bunch of talk in there, but there was
also talking throughout and we put you on on kind
of unnoticed at some point throughout the games.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Last week it was the Ravens fans who took issue
with the officiating, and this week it's Patriots fans. Patriots
fans are pissed and they think the refs gave the
Bills a game, and they had a situation that I
was like, I went to Gino school, I know what
this is. That deep pass down field in the fourth
(38:16):
quarter when it was twenty four to twenty one Pats
and they had a fifty to fifty ball and they
decline a pass interference.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
It looks like it's an interception, but it's a.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Fifty to fifty ball, and Patriots fans are like, what
the hell that's an interception? How could that be pass interference?
He turned around, he got the ball. Yeah, he didn't
get the ball. It was a fifty to fifty. They
were both down. Ty goes to the offense.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
Yes exactly, rn exactly, and then really kind of the
and it was a close catcher, no catch too right,
I mean, it was like, did he really catch it?
And then after I think John Hussey was the referee there,
announced that they declined to pass interference and went with
the catch. I kind of was waiting and not that
it would have mattered for those that, you know, were
kind of trying to dissect it. So now the referee
(39:01):
announces we decline past interference. The ruling on a fields
a completed catch, and now there's a challenge flag and
now you go review it and go, oh my, he
didn't catch it. If that would have been the case,
then they can go back and say, after review the
ruling was incomplete, we're going to penalize you for the
pass interference which is the same result right without the
(39:23):
yard eage. But as a ref you were programmed anytime
you rule a twenty five thirty yard catch and have
passive aference at the same spot, you automatically decline the
foul and give the players in the fantasy football world
and all those that really care about those thirty one
yards in a different way, like you know with passive
(39:43):
apperance is a thirty one yard penalty, I know, but
that's my receiver. I need those thirty one yards for
my fantasy team from my quarterback in And there may
be player incentives built into something in that place as well, right,
like a thousand yards George or something gets you another bonus.
So there's always a world of the business aspect of it.
Speaker 9 (40:05):
Do you know there's this thing called player performance props
too that might cover there you go there, that's a lot.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
Of peas for me, Mike, I stay away from three
p's In one sentence.
Speaker 9 (40:15):
I just to tell you there are no meaningless plays,
no meaningless yards.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
That's no meaningless occurrence, is none.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
One thousand percent correct?
Speaker 1 (40:25):
You know?
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Forty four year old Philip Rivers came out of retirement
to play this weekend almost got almost got the colts
the wind in Seattle, which would have been insane.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
But a lot of people are like, wow, how can
you just come off the couch like that after almost
five years and perform at a high level?
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Is it making you think?
Speaker 3 (40:43):
You know what, maybe I ought to pull the stripes
out of the closet.
Speaker 5 (40:48):
Come on, you know what, It's so funny you said that.
You know, I'm in my little chair where I have
to slouch down so I can keep my neck in
a good place to look at a thousand on the wall. Right,
My posture is terror now. Even at home, Litha'll look
at me like, will you please sit up? Like I'm like, oh,
I'm just prepping for work this week. I'm down in
that kind of recliner couch kind of feel. But yes,
(41:09):
I did say that, actually, because you know, you're looking
at a guy that you kind of paralleled careers with,
you know, and uh, and all of a sudden, I'm
watching Indie Planet, like I know exactly what's gonna happen today.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
You know, I know how he rolls.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
And yeah, there was that moment or two of reminiscing
about going back and pulling the cobwebs off of the
jersey and you know, having to come back. And then
I watched the uh the Steelers last night, saw that
it was you know, seven degrees maybe it's night.
Speaker 12 (41:41):
They kind of sit at home and you know, frets
the button and you know what did you think, Well, Tony,
let me think a look at this and two steps
and not a football move, you know, yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
Back to the next day. A whist man, there was
a whist but maybe coming back. And but I do
think it's really cool to watch. And I look and
again it's called because we're all getting older too, right,
like he can't do it, and it's it's that great
saying that we like to say, especially when we're in
our sixties, that today's forty is last generations thirty five.
(42:14):
So I can continue to push the clock back ten years.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
In my own mind too.
Speaker 5 (42:18):
But uh, watching air last night, getting that football out
so quick reading it, he still has his it rivers,
never really had that big time arm, so he still
had that half.
Speaker 12 (42:28):
You know, they are the balls above his head like
shot foty things kind of weird, like dude, did you
really mean to throw it that way?
Speaker 5 (42:36):
I mean, he got there, but you know, Uh, he
wouldn't have got a lot of artistic impression points. And
we were in like gymnastics for his throat completion.
Speaker 12 (42:48):
We went the remaining ran have the cok we both
went to Romania like him.
Speaker 5 (42:52):
Think there. That was pretty good, you know. Thanks back
to Nattia comedy. You know, dude, why did you sheep
given everybody like.
Speaker 12 (43:01):
Three points pods and then Naddy it comes up in
the standla with the ten all the time.
Speaker 5 (43:05):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (43:06):
