Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right now here. Brought to you by yinglink make it
a ynglink traditional logger from the oldest brewery in America,
Big Cat. How are you, buddy. I'm good.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Although we got an issue on our hands. He got
an issue on our hand.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
I want to hear it.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
I just I just so. I was driving into work.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Before I got into work, I was I was looking
at my phone, and apparently Mike Tomlin's sons want to
beat up Jersey Jerry.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yes, so that's the thing. And I didn't know if
you were privy to that yet. So Mike, Mike Tomlin's
son Dino has issued I don't know, not a fut wah,
but I mean he wants to is a fight waw.
He wants to fight Jersey Jerry, and Jersey Jerry said
he would do it for fifty grand now because he's
got a family. He said, he's a he's got a family,
(00:45):
and Dino is a d one athlete and so he'll
probably mop Jersey Jerry up. Now. Jersey Jerry said, you know,
give me the fifty grand. Dino said, no, that's not
how this works. And so Jersey Jerry is out. He said,
I'm not fighting you, but now Dino maybe want to
maybe wants to fight Jersey, Jerry's podcast partner Kevin Kevin.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, so I just I wanted on the records. I
didn't know any of this until like literally ten minutes ago.
I loved I love Jerry's death, you know, like he's
a brother to me.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I would do anything for him.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Whenever something like this happens, my immediate knee jerk reaction is,
Jerry did something wrong, and I'm gonna take the.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Other guys out because I feel like he's in.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
The right here.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I know nothing about it, but as soon as if
I go into the office and I asked Jerry like
two questions, I'll probably get a clear idea that Jerry
said or did something that like, yeah, he probably should
get punched.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
In the So it's like one of those things when
you are a fan of a team or a band,
you feel removed far enough that they the person that
you're talking about, stops being a human. They're like the
object that's in the way of success for you and
the thing that you're rooting for. And I would say
(01:59):
that Jerry has been less than judicious in his uh
estimation of Mike Tomlin's abilities yes, I.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Think that's fair and it is true. It's it's something.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
That we like Jerry should know it because people do
the same thing to us where they treat us like
we're not humans and talk about us like we're not
human beings. And there's like, you know, it's a bigger, more.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Serious discussion about how like computers.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
And phones have completely made this world like such a
cruel place because people think they can just say anything.
But yeah, I just want it on the record that
like I love again, I love Jerry. Like the way
I deal with Jerry is I saw this. I was like, oh,
he probably deserves to get punched in the face. And
if he gets punched the face, like I'll be.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
The one to drive him to the hospital, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
So still have his back, but sometimes guys deserve to
get punched in the face.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Please tell Jerry that the GoFundMe already has twenty four
thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Scare him a little bit. Jerry will find a way
sat down, and.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
He will also find a way to like you know,
scam money out of this whole thing.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
That's you know, he's good at that. So Jerry come
out on top. Yeah, Yeah, he might get hurt, but he'll.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Come out on top.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Well, I gotta imagine Mike Tomlin is pissed at Dino
as much as what he's doing is admirable. It's kind
of like when Anthony Soprano Junior tries to go kill
Uncle Junior, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, you
probably shouldn't be doing this, Like we'll take care of it,
don't worry about it.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It's it's the whole thing, it feels like, And you
guys can tell me because you obviously no way, far
better than I do. But like from an observer from
the outside and like you know, a big fan of
the NFL and covering the NFL, it does feel like
the heat has finally reached like a real spot for
Mike Tomlin where we've gone through this before, but this
one feels a little different where it's like, yeah, it's
(03:57):
crazy that the team is exactly the same yet again
for like the tenth year in a row.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Last year was the year that the seat got hot
on a level that it hadn't before, but it was
never he was never in danger of getting fired. A
lot of people were like, this is a joke. It's
the same thing a year after hear and then they
did this hold on, hold on, wait to see what
we have up our sleeve for next year. And then
they go out and give Slay ten million dollars. They
(04:22):
bring in Jalen Ramsey on that trade with John new
They get rid of Minka and bring those two in,
and they're like, this is gonna fit perfect. We're gonna
be able to cover everybody. We're gonna have shutdown man
coverage on defense. And then you know they'd given Patrick
Queen that big contract before that, and then Aaron Rodgers
ends up coming here and DK Metcalf and they spend
(04:44):
all this money and they're like, uh huh, that's right,
we're fixing this, and it is just garbage. And so
the noise that we've been hearing here Big Cat finally
has permeated enough of the now national bubble because the
problem is, and here's what has been pissing us off
forever in Pittsburgh is that we've been saying, like, dude,
(05:06):
this is not working. And then you get everybody on
ESPN going, oh, the Steelers would be crazy to fire
Mike Thomas, right, all of those guys. Now there's only
a couple of them. Now there's only Will Bond saying
that and a couple of other guys at ESPN. Now
you got Colin Colin Cowherd going, yeah, maybe it's time
for him to move on. You know, you got Ben
(05:27):
Roethlisberger going on his podcast and saying that Mike Tomlinson
coach Penn State, which I'm sure you know, he didn't
do to piss him off at all. He just was
just gnawing off freaking opinion. He wasn't trying to get
under my skin, you know. And so that's how it's changed.
It's the national perspective on this big cat is that
(05:48):
you know what, maybe those Pittsburgh's weren't just a bunch
of spoiled fans. Maybe they have a point.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Yeah, and you guys do have a point. We've been
saying for over a year now that it's because I
remember that this point changed in my mind. It was
probably about last year around this time where we had
this discussion. I was like, for the longest time, I
was like, how.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Can Steelers fans be upset?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I would do anything to get in the playoffs every year.
I do anything to be over five hundred. And then
last year, after watching that team again, I was like, Yeah,
I don't know how you could watch this team and
be excited about it knowing that it's gonna be the
exact same result every single year.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
And nothing is changing, and nothing is you know, like
that Bills game.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You guys, the Bills just ran the same play over
and over and over right down your throat. It's that's
bad coaching. And so yeah, I agree with you, Like
I see, I still think. I think Rex Ryan is
another one who's still hold out. He said something like
Mike Tomlin would get a job in a second if that.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Steelers fined up. I don't know if that's totally true.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Like, I think you get another shot somewhere else eventually,
but I don't think everyone's like, you know, running, you know,
banging down the door. For Mike Tomlin at this point,
he might have to do a little self reflection and
and go, you know, pick a year off before he
becomes the hot commodity.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
And even if he did go somewhere, I mean, Andy
Reid is the comparison that I've always used here where
it's like it stopped working for him in Philly then
he had that four and twelve season or whatever it was,
and they finally bounce him after getting so close and
sniffing it a few times. He goes on to win
championships and they win two Super Bowls with two different
(07:26):
coaches since then, it was a mutually beneficial parting. I
kind of think that's where they are right now. But
I have to say I know that you guys on
pardon my take, highlighted our buddy Seth roerbas tweet, which
was the most I mean, this is nostradamus stuff. Mike
Tomlin will say something like we can't eat soup with forks,
(07:47):
we need spoons. Then the Steelers will sign a twenty
eighteen Pro bowler to the practice squad, and don't they
go two days later and sign Adam Thielen, who was
a member of the two thousand and eight Pro Bowl. This,
this alone should get Mike Tomlin fired. When you're so
easily partied.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Like the parody is so easy to do and it's
so on the nose, that alone, like should get him fired.
That's just you can't have you can't like, if you're
Mike Tomlins, you got to have someone in that building
be like like when you're when you're talking to to
Adam Fielen's agent be like, hey, sir, just before we
do this, Like, I just I want to let you
(08:27):
know what Seth tweeted, We shouldn't get ahead on to us.
They yeah, they know they're onto us, and they this might.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Look bad in the public, and it did look bad.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
It looks ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Well, let me ask you this. Let's let's turn it
over to your team, because to me, this is the
game of the week. The Bears, yeah, and the Packers
at Lambeau. It's gonna be sub freezing temperatures, maybe some
flurries like flying around like the picturesque Bears Packers matchup.
This is an iconic you form clash on the most
(09:03):
heralded football field in the league. And now, finally, for
the first time in a long time, both teams are good.
Both teams are good, and your Bears have a chance
to keep a clasp on the number one seed in
the conference that I did not see coming. And you
did all of this without Caleb Williams actually playing great.
(09:27):
He's he's doing okay. So my question to you is this,
what is your confidence level going in against what has
traditionally been, at least in recent history the Bears kryptonite.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Oh, I mean it's not even I don't even think
it's kryptonite, because kryptonite, like I feel like Superman puts
up like a tiny bit of fight against kryptonite. We
haven't done any of that. So I am I'm weirdly confident.
Now here's the other thing I am. It ties in
purplectly to Mike common discussion, when you get a coach
that you.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Feel confident, it does give you a little.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Bit of a calmness, where like Ben Johnson, I just
have the utmost confidence in him and his plan and
what he's done for this organization and the culture. And
we play the Packers again in two weeks, and it's
not like so I'm going into this game weirdly like, yes,
I obviously want to win, and I actually do in
my heart of hearts thinks the Bears can win. But
(10:22):
I also know we play them again in two weeks
and I'm not gonna freak out if we lose because
Ben Johnson will find a way. And it's like, find
a way to split this. And the reason why you
go nine and three to start the season is you
give yourself a cushion where not every game makes you
freak out, but I'm so excited that I Bears actually
have a team that I feel like can compete with anyone,
(10:42):
and we can run the football. We have an identity.
That's really what it comes down to, is like having
an identity. You guys know this, like when the Steelers
have an identity.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
There's you just go in.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
You're like, hey, we know we.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Can do this better than anyone else, and it's up
to you to figure out how to stop it. And
our ability to run the football has been that this
year is so much fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Yeah, and you know, getting some takeaways too would be big.
Jordan Love seems to be getting better this year though.
That's gonna be a fun one. I'm hoping the Bears win.
That'll make that that whole conference more fun if they
keep winning. And it's hard. It's impossible to not be
a fan of Ben Johnson ripping off his shirt, doing
the whole you know, getting the Wieners circle to to
give out free hot dogs on Tuesday. I think they
(11:21):
gave out a thousand hot dogs after he did the
shirtless celebration. Dude's kind of jack too, for what it's worth.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Oh, big time. I said I would leave my wife
for him. So I and she found out about that.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
She wasn't happy, but I said, I was.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Like, listen, like I don't think he wants to leave
his wife for me, right, but if he if I
get the call, like he's he's my home.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
He's a guy.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Yeah, I'm not gay, so I don't care, Like I
just we just lived together. We'll just have like a
you know, like a relationship where we just live together and.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Just hang out. Yeah, it was Aaron Rodgers' birthday the
other day. Did did he ever return your birthday message
to him? He did not. I don't, I don't.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
I don't expect to return.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
What did you say?
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I just a happy birthday friend? And uh no, no response.
I actually am like, it's it's crazy. I think it's
maybe just like the fact that he hasn't been a
packer for you know whatever it is three four years now,
Like I actually am starting to feel bad for him
because that was it's just like that shot of him
with his nose alf aangled.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
And just.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Like yeah, yeah, it's just like what.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Are you doing?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Man?
Speaker 2 (12:34):
You got so much money, Go go live your life
somewhere else, Like this is crazy.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
But that's the look on his face. The look on
his face is like I shouldn't have done this. That's
kind of how I was reading it, Like I shouldn't
have done this.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, like you.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Shouldn't have left the packers, Like and I know that
was obviously there's more of the packers coming, you know,
drafting Jordan Love and all that, but like this is
he's he's he's gone through the gauntlet last three years
and I'd imagine this has got be it. And so
he probably didn't have the best birthday ever, but Adam
feeling that's a nice birthday present.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yes, well, maybe he'll show up to the film study
your home. It's oh, it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
You have retirement home.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
It's crazy, dude. Mike Tomlin is the guy I say, like,
he's the guy who goes around in your house. You're like, hey,
this soap dispenser's out of soap. He's like, no, it's not.
And then he puts a ton of water in it.
He's like, he's like, plenty of soap left in this.
You're like there's none. There's literally you just you're washing
your hands with water. He's like, there's so much soap
in here. This is elite soap.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
And you're like, there's no soap left none.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
It drives man. It's so true, though, it's so true.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
It's like just anyone, anyone who was good ten years ago,
they're gonna be a steeler.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
He adopts thirteen year old dogs exclusively, like just old
dogs in his house. You walk in, they're all like
walking around, limping and stuff like that.
Speaker 7 (13:57):
He's got to get his medicine twice a day, but
he's good. A lot of fetch left in him. Like
think about it.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Think of all the busts. One Thornhill, Terius slayh One
Thornhill is the one that got the whole historic defense discussion.
This was all happened on our show Big Cat.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
One.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
One thorn Hill says, Yeah, this could this defense has
a chance to be one of the best of all time.
And then Tom and came on with us and we
followed up with Hey, one Thornhill just said, you guys
can be one of the best of all time. And
he said we could do great things and by that
I mean historic And they are absolutely abysmal. It's so
far away from what they thought they were going to be.
(14:36):
Able to do. And that's the problem. They can't assess
talent here. They think they have something so much better
than they do.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
And and and another one is like George Pickens should
get my tom and fired as well.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Oh my god, crazy, Like that's coaching.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
That's He's the best wide receiver in the league right now.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
He was so fun to watch. He was so fun
to watch, even if we you know, he wasn't as
gonna be as good he year as he is in Dallas.
I mean, it was fun to watch him karate kick
somebody on a route that he's not involved in, you know. Yeah,
and now that yeah, that that.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I was actually joking with someone the other day, like,
like getting older in life, you realize, like when you're
in your you know, teenage years and your twenties and
like you you're kind of dumb about sports, and you
see like a player leave your your franchise and they
do great things, and you're like, oh, that's just bad luck.
I can't believe that happened. Then you then you have
the aha moment where you're like, no, that's just coaching.
(15:34):
Like if if a player leaves and is awesome without
your like outside of your organization.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
That means they're starting to get coached correctly. That's all
it is.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Well, and there's a couple of those guys, Kevin Dotson
being one of them, recent memories that have left the
Steelers and gone on to great things after we gave
up on them. My last thing I have for you,
I tried to. I went on the Fish's ticket outlet
yesterday to sign up for Spear shows just to see
if I could get anything. And the price for Fish
at the Sphere, I'm like, I'll see if I can
(16:03):
reserve four tickets. They make you pay for your tickets,
whether you're gonna get them or not. It comes out
of your bank account. Yes, you have to pay for
them no matter what. And it's three hundred a ticket,
So a three day pass to get four to three
day passes thirty six hundred bucks. And I'm like, there's
no way I'm doing this. I can't look. I would
(16:27):
love to see them there because after seeing Dead and
Company there, it was so much fun. And Fish does
an even more unique show. Every single night is a
different Sphere show for them. They spend a lot of
money on it, but I think I'm gonna draw the
line on a three hundred dollars face value ticket for
a concert.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
I think that's fair. I think that's absolutely fair. I
thought the same thing when I was like, all right,
I want to go, and I probably will go, But
like that is I didn't realize that part of it that.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
You have to pay before.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah, I mean, there's gotta be a it's all.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
This stuff eventually, right like the regular But that's that's
also like I guess I'm not to the same level
of you know, like money.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
That we're asking for our fans.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
But like we did sell like hank Dog toys over
Black Friday, and those sold out right away. So if
there's a demand, I guess you got to just do it.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Were they three hundred dollars apiece because you missed out?
If they weren't, they weren't.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
There were twenty dollars apiece. We sold five hundred of
them in eighty seven seconds. We discalculated how many to order.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
That's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
We had we had like three thousand people on the
wait list within the first ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
We really messed that one up.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
We could have sold probably like one hundred thousand Hank
Dog toys.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Live and Learn Big Cat brought to you by Yanling
this morning. Best of luck against the Packers this weekend.
All right, thank you guys, appreciate it right Nobody.
Speaker 8 (17:58):
On the DV morning show, Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
It's your radio home at the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of
two point five DVE DV Morning Show and Randy Bauman
along with Addy Prisner, Mike Pursuda, our buddy, Ted Whistle
hanging out with us this morning, and Jacob rec our
producer all season long. You know, Bill and I were
giving you the pick six. Well now he flew to Coop,
so it's left to me to give you three and out. Now,
these are three three games, three picks guaranteed, the probably
(18:27):
possibly maybe win you might cover. Anyways, Mike, I'll need
your help on this to get me started. What's the
first game?
Speaker 9 (18:35):
Number one Bears at Packers minus six and a half.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Bears and the Packers. This rivalry is so old Jordan
Hudson wants to have sex with it and become its
business manager. The Bears and the Packers have been playing
each other since nineteen twenty one, when Chicago beat Green
Bay by a score of twenty and to nothing. Behind
the slashing running style of halfback gay Lord Stinchcomb. Gay
Lord's nickname was Pete because in nineteen twenty one, no
(19:01):
one could bring themselves to call another man gay lord
in public, and it was in fact illegal in some
parts of Kansas. It's going to be a classic December
game at Lambeau with below freezing temperatures and snow flurries,
the kind of game that used to give John Madden
an erection and cause Pat summer All to ask him
to please move down a couple of seats. Both teams
(19:21):
are coming off impressive road winds. The Packers stuffed the
Lions giblets back up into their body cavity on Turkey
Day mashing at ford Field, and the Bears dealt the
Eagles more than they bargained for on Black Friday in
afrankas in Philly, where Chicago may have finally broken the
tush push. Bear's cornerback Nayseean Wright found out.
Speaker 6 (19:40):
That if you just you just jam your hand in
the middle of the tush push, the quarterback will not
only drop the ball, he'll sing Moon River and leave
his cell phone in your locker.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
But the rivalry has been kind of in hibernation as
of late because of Green Bay's recent dominance. Matt Lafleur
went eleven to zero against Chicago until losing last year
in the regular season finale. But now with Ben Johnson
making the Bears revenant, the matchup has renewed vigor, especially
because of what Johnson said, upon taking the gig and
(20:12):
staying in the NFC North, to be quite frank with you,
I enjoyed beating met with Fleur twice a year. Oh
don't get cocky, Johnson. Sure you're a big hit at
the Wieners Circle where you bear chested that postgame celebration
in Philly to guarantee free hot dogs to Bears fans
(20:33):
at the famous Chicago eatery. So you weren't being quite frank.
You were actually being quite a few francs. But the
Green Bay Packers are about to pour cheese all over
your Chicago dog. Caleb Williams is still trying to master
the forward pass with limited success, and Micah Parsons has
turned on his former wrecket Ralph self. The Packers got
the better quarterback and the better defense, Jordan Loving. The
(20:56):
Packers are on a roll and the Bears won't be
able to turn round. Take the Packers Eagles set Chargers
plus three. The Eagle Super Bowl hangover was raging last week.
That sleepwalk lost to the Bears was the equivalent of
getting up and peeing all over the toilet you puked
(21:18):
in a few hours before before stumbling back to bed.
But this Monday night, they're hoping there's a big bottle
at Gatorade and a greasy burger waiting for them at
SOFI Stadium in the form of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Let's start with the Chargers. There's big news for them now.
That's whether or not Justin Herbert will play after having
surgery Monday to repair a bone in his non throwing hand.
(21:40):
He still threw two tds against Las Vegas last week
with the broken hand, which must have caused a great
deal of hand envy from Kenny Pickett on the opposite sidelines.
I don't even have bones in my teeny tiny.
Speaker 10 (21:52):
Hands, just Joey show off.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
So Herbert is likely going to play, but he'll be
limited in what he can do under center Sam Familiar. However,
running back O'maron Hampton also likely returning from injury for
LA so don't be surprised if Hampton comes alive. Sorry,
it was either that or a hampton En joke, But
Mike is staying there tonight, and I don't want you
(22:19):
to get pink eye. As for the Eagles, their offense
has been as effective as a mesh condom. The whole
town wants to fire offensive coordinator Kevin Bittulo. Philly fans
started making signs saying fire poop too low, Never change Philly.
Sakwan Barkley's been about as explosive as Charles Barkley and
Jalen Hurts downfield vision has been a wonder Stevie wonder.
(22:43):
More precisely, despite their two consecutive losses, he did start
forcing the ball to AJ Brown, and that's made AJ happy,
which in turn made Eagles fans unhappy that AJ wasn't
more unhappy about the Eagles losing. Turns out it's not
always sunny in Philadelphia, and now I know why they
all go to wah wah. This one's easy unless Big
dam is having some of his good fellow cronies pull
(23:06):
a galulei on Herbert's hand. I think that weird O
Harbaugh's defense is gonna flush poop too low into the Pacific.
Take the home Dogs in the points go to Chargers.
By the way, good sleeper pick for AFC champion. By
the way, the Chargers look out for the Chargers. Just
saying Mats Steelers said Ravens minus five and a half
like that. You don't agree with that on the Chargers,
(23:28):
all right? The main events Steelers Ravens. When these two
teams play each other, you can throw out the record books,
or in this case of these two quarterbacks, overthrow out
the record books. Yes, the battle of the AFC North
is being waged by a single wristed forty two year
old quarterback who's doing the football version of Danny Glover
and lethal weapon. I'm getting too old for this pit.
(23:50):
And Lamar Jackson, who's in a funk deeper than James
Brown could ever hope to have found himself in. How
bad did he get for Aaron Rodgers last week? He finished?
Listen to this last in EPA plus C POE composite
rating in week thirteen games. Can you believe that? No? Now,
I don't know what either of those things mean, but
I do know the Steelers offense is mia and the
(24:13):
team is DOA. If he doesn't pull his head from
his ass, the number one task for the Steelers this Sunday.
They gotta stop Derrick Henry, and regarding Henry will be
a tough task given that James Cook burnt the Steelers
to a Chris Pittsburgh rare on Sunday, so rare it
was the most they've been seared on the ground in
fifty years. I haven't seen a Cook run away from
(24:35):
Pittsburgh that fast since Kevin Sussa tried to outrun all
those lawsuits years ago. Hey, at least he had Fetterman
blocking for him. I don't know what the Steelers excuse was.
Renegade got booed. They're chanting fire Tomlin, And every time
I open up Twitter, Matt Williamson has another factoid tweet
about how historically awful this team is. Every tweets like.
(24:58):
Pittsburgh has a minus forty nine point differential in the
second half in overtime of games this season, the worst
since penicillin was invented. Jesus, that seems like a long time.
Pittsburgh's total yardage three week fourteen worse since the nineteen
nineteen Akron Bulldogs were decimated by the Spanish flu and
had to use a golt a goat as a full back.
We get it, now, we get it. The good news
(25:21):
for Aaron is that if he's able to keep from
having the rest of his nose ripped off by the
newly rejuvenated Raven's pass rush, he's got a new target
to ignore his audibles in thirty five year old former
Viking Adam balen Felin wanted his release from the Vikings
after getting scratched so he could join the Steelers and
get mauled. But now you know, next to DK, he's
(25:42):
likely better than anything else we have on our roster,
and I bet it won't be long before Rogers has
that feeling feeling, although I still don't understand why they
don't use Friarmuth Moore. I keep getting told Arthur Smith
loves tight ends, he loves a big fan, but Muth
and John who don't do squad. It's like how my
aunt kept telling me for years my cousin Timmy like girls. Yeah,
(26:03):
well why doesn't he incorporate them more often? Turns out
Timmy was into tight ends? But what is what has
happened to the ones? Mighty AFC North? I mean, all
four teams are a mess in one way or another.
The Browns have no offense, the Bengals have no defense.
The Ravens offense is starting to stink, and their defense,
(26:23):
which used to stink, is starting to get pretty good.
And the Steelers defense is on the field so long
it's no longer a steel curtain, it's a tarp. Sure,
the Ravens are probably the better team by a beak.
And with the injury to Harmon King, Henry will make
Patrick Henry blush with the liberties he plans to take
with the Steelers defense. That was for you, Mike, But
(26:44):
this is AFC North football, and when this locker room
sees that the fan base has turned on someone they
love and revere, by gosh darn damn Galli, they will
rise up and support their guy after he's been booed.
So you bet you're black and gold ass that the
Steelers are gonna rise up and win this one for Dynasty,
(27:05):
Young and Sticks. That's right, buddy, well doing it for Sticks, Revive, Renegade.
The Steelers are gonna be sitting pretty atop the AFC
North when this one is all finished. Take the Steelers
and that's You're three and out. On the DVE Morning.

you know him, you love him. He's brought to you
by the Gateway Clipper. It's double D Dave Damn, the
shack ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 13 (28:03):
Oh, the banks of the Three Rivers are fraught, a
lot of hand ring it. I'm missing out on all
the drama over there. How are you guys doing post Thanksgiving?
It seems like some people are very upset with the
Pittsburgh Steelers right now.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Well, there's a lot of drama. I mean, as you know,
the seat that Mike Tomlin is on has gotten quite
a bit hotter in the past week or so since
the Bill's lost. Mike Tomlin's son is threatening to fight
Jersey Jerry Online. There's a lot of speculation about maybe
coach Tomlin going to Penn State because Ben Roethlisberger thought
it would be funny to float that out there, and
(28:38):
the entire national sports media ran with it and made
it an actual story which had to piss off coach
Kauer or coach Tomlin to no end. And our forty
two year old quarterback is bum ducks. People don't come
over to his house and have cake.
Speaker 13 (28:53):
Well, I mean that's a lot. But I have two
simple words for you, Adam Steeling.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Do you have that feeling feeling we do?
Speaker 13 (29:04):
I mean she and then say this is this is
what I get so upset about. Is everybody such a cynic.
Everybody's in such a hurry to express skepticism, and Adam
Feelin proves they're not out of ideas. They're fresh and
ready to roll into into the home stretch here of
this pro football season. Yeah, I'm glad Baumann that you
(29:28):
agree with with my take on Big Ben's take about Tomlin,
which was that he was trolling my.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Tongue, right, I mean that.
Speaker 13 (29:36):
This this this was a gentle uh you know, middle
finger to to Mike Tomlin to suggest like, yeah, maybe
the pros ain for you fella.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Kind of thing.
Speaker 13 (29:48):
But yeah, it's I mean, also correct me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
What I'm reading.
Speaker 13 (29:54):
Is that that that the knives are out inside the
building for Mike Tomlin from faithless nameless people maybe in
the front office or otherwise, because how else would you
explain the ex players. I mean even some of the
current players for that matter, but the ex players just
(30:17):
sort of it feels like it's a different level, like
they're cut loose in a way that they haven't been before.
Ry Clark is spoken out, but now it's heaps of
people just shouting into microphones. Bleed James Harrison screeching into
a microphone about Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
But that has always been the case. James Harrison has
never been a Mike Tomlin guy. We know that Big Ben,
We always have known that Big Ben holds a grudge
against Tomlin for not allowing him to keep the coordinators
that were playing the kind of football that he liked
and wanted to continue doing and thought put them on
the best path to win. And to a degree, he
blames him for the Killer Bees not winning a Super Bowl.
(30:55):
You know, Ben thought that there was more championships to
be won there, and I think he thinks Mike Tomlin
had a lot to do with that not happening. That's
why he feels like every once in a while and
give him a shot in the ribs and just kind
of feels good because he's got nothing at stake anymore.
But those two are not surprise. It's if people like
you know, Charlie Batch were to start turning, if you know,
(31:18):
if heines Ward, you know, made a comment like it's
time to move on, yeah, hokey. And and if Brett
Keesel were to say something, or Troy Paulamalu, then we
really will have been through the rubicon.
Speaker 13 (31:32):
I mean, I hear you, but I do think it
has taken on a different level of upset with those guys,
and you know, even in the locker room. I mean,
it's all coming home to roost. It really feels like,
you know, Rogers is now pointing fingers at the receivers,
and then Fryar Mood and Cam Hayward point the fingers
(31:53):
back at Aaron Rodgers. And it is funny that, I mean,
that's really the root of Tomlin and Roger, and I
think they would concede that between their actual words, what
they were saying is, you know, same as same as
the guy Mike Tomlin who eighteen months ago looked lovingly
into the eyes of Russell Wilson as the big savior, like, oh,
(32:14):
we've been through it.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
You know, we both get it because we've been.
Speaker 13 (32:17):
Through this and we've had some downtimes together. Rogers and Tomlin.
What they share is it's never their fault. That's I mean,
that's that's the recurring theme for their for their careers
the last decade of Mike Tomlin, and you know, since
the Super Bowl win by Aaron Rodgers, it is consistently
about even in the big spots, in the biggest losses,
(32:39):
it's never I screwed this one up. It's always they
always have the ability to point someone out publicly or
behind the scenes and make it their fault and then
move forward unscathed. It does feel this time like that's
not going to happen. Am I crazy?
Speaker 1 (32:54):
No, it does feel like that. But he's got a
chance to turn that around. Much like John Harbaugh who
was ready to get gassed mid season. When did we
say that was twenty nineteen. He was about to get gassed,
and then they turned it around right at the end
of November and then one out and got into the
playoffs and it saved his job and he's been there
ever since. That can happen for coach Shamlin. This is
(33:16):
a first place battle for the AFC North on Sunday,
though it doesn't feel like it, because both of these
teams have been so so much, you know, under the
expectation of the fan base so far this year.
Speaker 13 (33:30):
I think it's wild to consider. And by the way,
more globally speaking of all thirty two teams here and
the ongoing trend of the Curmudgeons, who the talking heads
about the NFL, who you see just are incapable. They're
like the Scooby Doo bad guy who who all his
(33:55):
crimes are always predicated on. These kids aren't going to
figure it out like they They refuse to accept that
the youth might have something to offer. They can't bring
themselves to understand that the favorites to go to the
Super Bowl right now are not the brand name guys.
Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes are realistically in
(34:20):
line to miss the playoffs. All three of them could
miss the playoffs, and at the same time, sophomore's bow
Knicks and Drake May and Caleb Williams are fighting it
out for the one seeds and be as well. I
mean they're having nice seasons, but I'm gonna have to
see them do it. When do you think guys win
super Bowls in the twenty first century? They do it
in the window between their second and sixth seasons. Big
(34:42):
Ben did it in his second season. Tom Brady did it,
the aforementioned Russell Wilson did it. Kurt Warner. This is
the trend. It's not like everything's going to revert back
to form as long as we ride our savvy that
especially an old one like Aaron Rodgers, like, oh, we'll
be right as rain. No, no, no, that ship is
way far gone. It's the young guys and we got
(35:03):
to get in that business in Pittsburgh. But that's also
the realization I think that football talkers need to need
to make in general, but specific to the greatest rivalry
of the millennium. I don't know if I've mentioned this before.
Pad Nabbey, maybe make a note of this if you're
on the fence about which way do I leave Baltimore Pittsburgh.
(35:25):
They're both the putent brands and pro football. But just
as I'm I said to lay it out for you,
the two sides from which to choose, the Steelers are
named after the mid century heroes who forged the steel
that built the tanks and the ships used to defeat
the Nazi scourge. Okay, that's what that's the Steelers. The Ravens,
(35:47):
on the other hand, they're named after a poem written
by a Boston native who married his thirteen year old cousin,
moved to Baltimore, got drunk, and died.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Route for the Ravens. Go line up with Musa Lee.
Speaker 13 (36:03):
That's it. You're against You're against America, you're against freedom.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
He had the Nazi scourge. Well, the scourge of this
uh Steelers defense has been any team with a potent
running attack. If the Bills have done anything, they paved
the way for how it's done against the Black and Gold.
And I know King Henry ate what he used to be,
but man, we have had trouble in the last two
(36:31):
times we faced him. He had his cake and ate it.
Speaker 13 (36:36):
Well, I would expect that to be the case again.
Here he's on a roll, is Derrick Henry right now
in the last couple of weeks. But it is weird
that Lamar Jackson isn't is not playing like Lamar Jackson.
It only does seem like to compare it to a
different sport mid career Michael Jordan and then his his
(36:58):
basketball doppel ganger, Kobe, both at about the same point
in their careers, just made a massive fundamental change in
the way they played and went from you know, attack
the rim guys that at everything to mid range jump shooters.
It feels like Lamar Jackson better do that. The trend
of like I'm gonna be hurt for long stretches every
(37:19):
season is got to be unacceptable if you're a Ravens
fan or a Raven's ownership. But yeah, I mean, bottom line,
I agree with you, Tad. The you know, the ra
it's hard to to get real enthused about. Well, they're
gonna turn it around because TJ. Watt again went to
the podium after the last games said we got to
turn this around soon.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
We got we gotta get on point here.
Speaker 13 (37:44):
We got to watch more film, Like, hey man, it's
the week fourteen. You should have been doing that over summertime.
You should be tuned up at a different level right now.
By the way, Tad, before we wrap up here, tell
your sister, I said, what's up.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
I will absolutely do that. She will be delighted to
hear from you, Dave, but you got to call her back.
At some point you're gonna have to stick your own
neck out there.
Speaker 13 (38:07):
Listen, we're two grown ups. What we do is our business.
But thank you for thank you for passing along my message.
I want everybody within the sound of my voice to
enjoy Sunday. I hope it ends with that, with glory
because if the Steelers could win this game, can win
this game for all the belly aching is where we
started off with what Bauman said. If they win this game,
(38:31):
everything will be turned upside down. The Steelers will be
on track improbably to win the AFC North and we'll
be feeling.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Right as rain.
Speaker 13 (38:40):
And either way, at least you're not on the side
of Mussolini, right.
Speaker 1 (38:44):

Speaker 1 (39:21):
Here's Tom Opferman.
Speaker 15 (39:22):
The ANFC North is on the line Sunday in Baltimore,
and the Steelers run defense needs to bounce back in
a big way this week after allowing two hundred and
forty nine yards rushing to the Bills last Sunday, But
the job doesn't get any easier against the Ravens. Baltimore
has the league's fifth best rushing offense, and we are
all more than familiar with the individual components to that
running game, including the King, Derek Henry at running back.
(39:42):
Henry has rushed for nine hundred and thirty one yards
this season, averaging four point seven yards per carry and
with ten rushing touchdowns, marking this Henry's eighth straight season
with at least ten and this is Henry's time of
year two is one hundred and eight point four yards
per game in the months of December and January, is
the best of anybody since nineteen seventy. Henry's had great
success against the Steelers as well since joining the rival Ravens.
(40:04):
In three games, he averages one hundred and thirty eight
yards rushing against the Steelers and has scored three rushing
touchdowns in those meetings.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Pittsburgh will have to succeed in.
Speaker 15 (40:11):
Slowing down Henry if they want to leave Baltimore with
the win, and they'll have to accomplish that task without
their blossoming first round pick defensive tackle Derek Harmon. This
will be Harmon's fourth game miss this season. Comes Sunday
in Baltimore and the Steelers defense averages surrendering one hundred
and eighty three rushing yards in the three previous games
they didn't have Harmon at their disposal. I'm Tom Opframan
(40:32):
with the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (40:33):

All right, it's Randy Baman and the DV Morning Show
on with Abby Prisner here, and we're welcoming a comedy
icon to start this hour. He's gonna be performing at
the m PROP. That's right. You know how I know
you're a comedy icon because when I Google you, it
says comedy icon Bill Bellamy. Lad Is It gets you
(41:43):
just never know what people are gonna call you. I'm
telling you what you aren't. I thought about it. I'm like,
that is a comedy icon. Thank you. Well, because your
career is among the more interesting in comedy. I think
you spanned the nineties media in a way that it
doesn't exist anymore.
Speaker 17 (42:02):
And so I'm a walk in I'm a walking like museum.
That's right, of music and comedy of talent.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
Well, that's a blessing. Well it's you got to do movies.
You did TV. You've had an illustrious stand up career.
Still rich, you did?
Speaker 13 (42:18):
You?
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Still rich? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:19):
You did.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
That's hard to do actual kind of like journalism music
journalism in a way, you know what I mean. Yes,
while there are some other people at MTV during your
years that were more dedicated to that, I mean, you
got to do some of the coolest stuff. And I
always think about the fact that, like you must look
back and be like man, one time I was sitting
there and Madonna was on my left lesson.
Speaker 17 (42:42):
Bro I you it's so funny you would say that
for those people who are listening at this amazing radio station,
a talented host. I'm the icon, Bill Bellamie, Thank you
very much, Pittsburg love you. Welcome to the burg real quick.
I was thinking about this the other day. Right, I
am equivalent to Casey Kasem. I'm equivalent to Dick Clark
(43:07):
in a sense of being in the right place in
the right time to introduce so many artists to the
culture of pop music. Right, So you got to understand
at this time in the nineties MTV, they it was
a wave of new music that wasn't at first because
it was only rock.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
Remember that it was mostly just bands. And remember because
David Bowie was weren't playing any black artists.
Speaker 5 (43:29):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
So so Michael Jackson was like, you know, okay, he
was black, but he's beige. But he was white. This
is multicolor.
Speaker 17 (43:37):
So anyway, here comes Bill Bellamy at the right place,
right time, and I was like, oh my god, Alanis
Morris said, boys demand coolio, uh you know blind melon.
You know, we got red hot chili peppers. So like,
there was so much of a great cluster of great
(43:58):
new artists. The record street was pushing out these artists,
and I was in the right place to introduce everybody
to the culture.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Those videos of that time were the icons. Like I
don't think videos you know, popped at all after two
thousands like they did in the nineties. Yet they were
promoting the music videos too, right, Well, the record company
would budget so much money because.
Speaker 17 (44:22):
You needed that as it was like your flyer for
your audio, yeah, for your artists, And it was a
big deal because back then that's how you were going
to sell records, because the music video would compliment the song.
So you'd be like, all right, I already liked the song,
but if the music video was off the hook, you'd.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
Be like, oh my god, I'm gonna buy two albums,
you know what I mean. Were there ever times where
you're there, like in the MTV studios and you're interviewing
a new artists and they were like shot to the
top of the charts, and you could tell like Oh
they don't. They don't have they don't have the hooks.
But they're gonna need to make it. Oh man, yeah,
because because that has to be a frightening journey for
(45:02):
a lot of artists. Listen, were one and Donners.
Speaker 17 (45:05):
You know, this is the craziest thing that I started
noticing because I did MTV six years six and a half.
I said, every summer it's a one hit wonder Yep,
every I just knew. I said, I'm never gonna see
you again. This is a great song. It's gonna one.
It's that thing like I remember.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Whoop Dead and then Wood.
Speaker 17 (45:27):
What do you remember we were saying that for about
fourteen months. You would saying good morning Wood. You can't
do that for three albums, But that summer you go
on tour, you kill it. People go crazy, they're playing
it at the game.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
They're doing this.
Speaker 17 (45:48):
I will never forget when Domino came out, Remember Sweet
Potato Pie, my own gotta get at that Sweet Potato Pie.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
I said, I'm never gonna see you again. I just
knew it wasn't gonna be no more power. So you know,
your stand up career starts to, you know, really blow
up and then you end up in the movies and
you're in an Any Given Sunday. Yes, And you know,
I saw the other day you there was a real
(46:19):
going viral of you telling a story about Jim Brown.
But Jim Brown on the set of Any Given Sunday,
the legendary Jim.
Speaker 10 (46:28):
Brown, one of the Hall of Fame baddest dudes ever
I'm talking about.
Speaker 5 (46:34):
He was what he was.
Speaker 17 (46:36):
He was a bad man, like bad as in cool,
bad as in like, oh my god, I wish I
could be Jim Brown because.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
He was just tough and he had that voice was saddening.
Maybe you know, I'm Jim Brown Syracuse. First day ever,
his whole thing was first ever. Yeah, I was the
first day of Did he look brag about his lacrosse? Oh,
lacrosse football?
Speaker 17 (46:57):
I mean he got a scholarship and every god genre
or whatever because he was just super athlete.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
And he would always get up slow, get up slow,
because you never let him know you heard. You know,
I'm like, but he was. He was.
Speaker 17 (47:10):
I can't know if we can curse, but he was
a starter and bleep starter and he was doing it
to everybody. And the story is so iconic because this
one guy didn't know who Jim Brown was. He was
just a tough street guy who played football who didn't care,
didn't give three afts about Jim Brown. And Jim Brown
(47:31):
was teasing them about football, and he picked him up
in the air and body slammed him in front of
the athlete.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
And this has got to be what sixty year old
Jim Brown?
Speaker 10 (47:40):
Right he was, I want to say, right at free Pancakes,
right at like the day, like the Tuesday before.
Speaker 17 (47:51):
Free right there, That's how was. And the guy looked
so strong. He picked Jim Brown up over his head
and dumped him. Brown Man, Well, I mean that had
to like if I was shockingly funny.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
If you were, yeah, well it's funny and also a
little bit terrifying you, I would imagine, because you're all right,
I'm on an Oliver Stone movie right now. And he
hired a bunch of people who are reckling.
Speaker 6 (48:10):
Yo.
Speaker 17 (48:11):
Listen, when we were doing any given Sunday, we were
the actor. So the actors who were playing athletes was
like six of us or five of us right. Everybody
else was real football players and they literally were either
in the NFL, got cut, played at University of Miami,
played at Penn State play. These guys were real football players,
(48:31):
so their mentality was tough and grimy and this what
it is.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
And you know, and here's the thing. Everybody doesn't do
their research, you.
Speaker 17 (48:42):
See what I'm saying. So you're sitting there saying, hey, man,
do you know who that is? And he's like, man,
I don't really care.
Speaker 18 (48:48):
Bro.
Speaker 17 (48:49):
You're like, oh my god, that is Brett far And
he doesn't know. He's like two generations away from that.
So you can't assume that everyone knows who you are
and gonna give you rev.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
You know what I'm saying, I do.
Speaker 6 (49:02):
This.
Speaker 17 (49:03):
I don't want you to talk stuff at Walmart or
you know, you don't start stuff at the car washing No,
I don't want you to get her younger.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
Djst a body Slammy Sunday. Yeah years in Hall of Fame,
Bro exactly, there's a line of people waiting to do that.
You have to do that. Bill Bellamy, he's at the
Improv tonight and tomorrow. There is one show on Sunday
Night too. You've been this tour has been going on
(49:33):
a while for you, right, like.
Speaker 10 (49:35):
This is it?
Speaker 5 (49:35):
This is it?
Speaker 17 (49:36):
What a what a wonderful year? Of comedy that we
have toured so many cities. I always try to come
to the Burg. I call it the Burg because.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
They love you here. Yeah, I'm surprised there's any tickets left.
Speaker 17 (49:46):
Bro, Listen, why I come here. It's so weird because
not only to steal a country and everything, but it's
pockets of people that drive. Oh yeah, like people drive
from West Virginia, from Baltimore, from this and that. I'm like,
ware am I but it's kind of close to a
lot of things. So to come here, you hit so
many different cities at once, and it's a great city
(50:09):
to come to.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
The food here is enough.
Speaker 5 (50:11):
See.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
This is what I like, Bob, because people don't talk
about our food. Your food is crazy good. Joe Maganella
was talking about he was on I think it was
on Breakfast Club and he was like, Pittsburgh's pizza is
up there with New York and they're like, shut up,
and I'm like, we have great pizza.
Speaker 6 (50:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
I think you got the same dirty water, right, you
know what I mean, it's the same water. Bro. Bagar's
are amazing. You guys.
Speaker 17 (50:36):
Nobody's here is concerned about abs and you know, no, no, no, no, no,
one's No one's going to LA Fitness two times a day.
In Pittsburgh. People are eating, they're having a good time,
and they're going to bed.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
That's a weird thing about like when you're in the
entertainment industry and you're in the middle of LA and
then plastic surgery becomes the norm and that kind of
face becomes the norm. There must be a little bit
of a like a culture shock for you when you
every time you leave, you leave and come back into it.
Speaker 17 (51:06):
Like, you know what's amazing about leaving l A and
being on tour and traveling is you see real people. Right,
So if you live in l A too long, if
you don't get in and out popping, you'll think that's everything.
You know, every girl is perfect, Like that's not real, Like,
you know, every girl doesn't have the same Kardashian face,
the same plastic surgeon or whatever. Like everyone every girl
(51:28):
does not have perfect boobs. Sometimes they're really really natural
and beautiful and they.
Speaker 19 (51:36):
They not stuff on what I mean, the real ones
do things like like they're like a dog's tail, so
they not stuffed down, right, And so.
Speaker 17 (51:49):
Then you go you come out and then you see
people that are look more natural, Like I like natural
looking people, like I don't like people. You're a jersey guy, right,
so yeah, like you know what I mean, Like I
don't like all that fake stuff, but it will blow
you min.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
I remember.
Speaker 17 (52:06):
I remember when I first came to Hollywood and I
was going on auditions a lot. I didn't know Bill
Bellamy was a tight that we see. People know about that, like,
we need a Bill Bellamy type. Yeah, you're like, why
don't you hire Bill Bellamy? I'm the real deal, tall.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
Talk and hantle.
Speaker 7 (52:28):
I mean, we need an affordable Bill Belli. Bill wants
too much money. Can we get a costco Bill?
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Well? I heard one time when you were doing a
TV set on Warner Brothers Space Jam was going on,
yeah with Michael Jordan's and then you got invited to
play hoops with Michael Jordan's. Yeah that that's a really
great story man.
Speaker 17 (52:48):
And and it was so ironic that I was on
the same lot, but I was doing something completely different.
I was working on another TV show I think was
it fast Ling. We were on the Warner Broo. That's
all I remember. So and so they had set up
this huge bubble for Mike because Mike was coming back.
He was doing space jam, this, that and the other.
So I go over there.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
It was I kind of and they're like a bubble,
like a velodrome, like blow up.
Speaker 17 (53:13):
I was like, I gotta be more famous, yeah, because
they only gave me a trailer bubble. Mike got the
trailer and the bubble. Yeah, I gotta step my game up.
So I was like, oh my god. I go over there,
and I spent a couple of hours there, you know,
playing basketball for a little bit, and then I hung out.
They had chefs and this, that and the other. And
to this day, I regret not asking him for autograph.
(53:37):
And I hung out with Michael Jordan's so many times,
and I thought it would be uncool of me to
break and say, Mike, can I get an autograph?
Speaker 1 (53:46):
But now looking back, why did not? You should have
done it like you were asking a signers. I'm like, yo, Mike,
they just brought these people. They want you to sign
for real.
Speaker 17 (53:56):
Because now I don't see him as much like I
haven't seen Mike and maybe three or four years that
I and I remember when he was playing I would
see him a lot because he would come to New
York and play he played the nets.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
He played it nicks, you know.
Speaker 17 (54:10):
So I'd go to those games if I was home,
or if I'm in Chicago and they was playing, I'd
go to a game or i'd see him at something.
And so now where he's retired and chilling in a billionaire,
you know, it's.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
Hard to catch him. Yeah. I gotta mean like you
had the private runway. So Bill Bellamy at the Improv
this weekend, make sure you check him out. And uh, yeah,
the Jordan documentary I thought was somewhat enlightening, you know
what I mean. I think he had the guards up
a little bit. Well you're saying, what is it called
the Last Dance? Yeah, the Last Dance. But I felt
(54:42):
the same way about the Eddie Murphy Netflix documentary. Did
you watch Eddie's I did.
Speaker 17 (54:47):
I just downloaded it for the plane and I didn't
watch it yet. Yeah, I just only seen clips of it.
It's good, and I love Eddie. Eddie to me is there.
He is a unicorn. He is like a comedy one.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Yeah. But when these guys do their wrongn documentaries, it
leads out a little bit. You know, you can tell
they're playing defense the whole time. Yeah, you know it's curated, right,
But let me tell you what's funny. When you mentioned
the last dance. The one thing that I got out
of the Last Dance outside of what you're saying, was like,
Scotty don't like Mike. No gee, I tired part of
(55:22):
my basketball fan career.
Speaker 17 (55:25):
I thought Scottie Pippett and Michael Jordan were like one person.
They were unified front. These guys just figured out how
to be the batman in the robbin. And now Scotty
like man, Mike ain't.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
A good person. He never let me wear his shoes.
Speaker 17 (55:44):
Every time you see Scotty, he got a slick thing
to say about Mike.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
No, I don't like him. He wasn't a good teammate.
Lebron Beta.
Speaker 17 (55:53):
I'm like, yo, you you created history with this man
like y'all couldn't just sit down in the yard hard
and figure it out.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
But you know, Mike was tough to play with you,
you know, I mean his standards are impossibly Listen to me.
Speaker 17 (56:07):
Listen to me being around Michael Jordan and watching him
on the court. See, here's the thing that made Michael
Jordan one of one to me perfection. He helped himself accountable.
He wanted everyone to match him. Everybody don't want it
like that. But if you on the court with me,
play as hard as I do. That's what he said. Basically,
(56:28):
Kobe was very similar and so that kind of like
standard is hard for people to bear in. Mike curses
a lot, So I didn't know Mike used profanity. I
always thought he was just humble and just the cutest,
like you know, apple pie, Mike, when you look you
(56:48):
play again, brother, go home?
Speaker 1 (56:50):
Man, go home? Why you're here? Check yourself out? Why
you Mike? Would Man? Were you a trash talker on
the court? When you talk trash to this day, yeah,
you gotta talk trash.
Speaker 17 (57:05):
But but but but like I'm not as when I
was really hooping, like having a good time hung and
playing Rock and Jock and doing I was, Yeah, I
played in every celebrity basketball.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
Who's the funniest celebrity you played against in those Rock
and Jock games? Funniest? Yeah? Like what was it like? Hilarious?
Look over you, like, am I really going up against? Please? Wow?
Cause he's good?
Speaker 5 (57:25):
Right?
Speaker 6 (57:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (57:26):
He was actually kind of scrappy and just you know, dysfunctional,
Like he was awkwardly like kind of decent, Like, yeah,
it was weird, like he looked like he don't know
what he's doing, but he could do it, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
It was really really weird, Like same with playing the
bass and acting everything.
Speaker 17 (57:44):
It does, like why are you just like like he's
good at it, like kind of sort of and then uh,
Snoop Snoop was awkwardly same thing like Snoop is so cool,
you know, you know, just Snoop deal double J you
know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
But on the court, he looks like a little girkleish. Yeah,
he doesn't have that coordination. It's not it's like it's
kind of weird. Don't be fast, Yeah, he's not fast.
It's very smoke because he's very cushed up exactly. He's medicinal.
You know when you medicinal, you don't move fast.
Speaker 17 (58:17):
Another person that I played with that I thought was
different than I participate ice Cube.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
What was he good or was he?
Speaker 17 (58:24):
I think ice Cube is solid, Like I like ice
Cube's game, but it's just J.
Speaker 7 (58:31):
You know everything. That was a fact he told us
in the song. He messed around and got a triple double.
Speaker 17 (58:38):
So he got but and he played he played in
this celeb We used to play in this thing called
the NBA Entertainment League, and all the guys who love
basketball who actually played a little bit played in it.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Justin Chimberlake.
Speaker 17 (58:50):
Yeah, jod JT was. You know who's really good Chris Brown.
Chris Brown could do everything. He probably a ballerina and
I don't know it.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
I don't know. I would imagine some hard files coming. Listen, listen.
Speaker 17 (59:04):
Chris Brown is freakishly athletic, like freakishly athletic, freakishly fast,
like it's just it's you want him to just stop moving.
He goes to the glass. I know that you gotta
be careful. He does go to guys, but he's freakiusly athletic.
Give you another one. You know who else is pretty
(59:25):
good to Julie White kle Kle, Yeah, he's athlete.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
I remember though, I remember the one where he did
ball out because it was like you could tell he
had something to prove, where like a lot of people
were having fun and he was like, no, no, no,
I have got to drop this rkle or competitive bro.
Speaker 17 (59:44):
I just saw him recently and we talked about it
and we had some really great one on ones because
he's serious, like he wants to defend and he's going
to try to come at you. And you know, but
he's not as big as I am, Like, you know,
I'm taller, bigger. Guy couldn't he couldn't stop me. Speak
get out of here.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Stefan dan Cortes Pittsburgh Guy Yo.
Speaker 17 (01:00:08):
Shout out to Dan Cortez. He said he's gonna come
to my show. That guy is one of the most
solid guys. And he's also very athletic. He played football.
I forgot what school he went to.
Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
I don't I feel like Sean you would know that.
Speaker 7 (01:00:20):
No, Dan Cartes, well, I think Dan Dan Dana did?
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Did he go to did he play? He played football
at U n C.
Speaker 17 (01:00:35):
I think if if it's not him, I know Dean
Kane did one of those one of those guys back.
Speaker 20 (01:00:41):
Up quarterback at U n C in high school football
at Quaker Valley High School.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Do your research, bro, I just brought it up off
the cuff. I don't know, no, no, but I'm just
joking around.
Speaker 17 (01:00:51):
But yeah, he was another guy that was a freakishly
good athlete and very fun like he's are the we
were weird.
Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
Dan Dan. Dan was the white Bill Bella Meat and
that was the Black Dan Quartet.
Speaker 17 (01:01:05):
So it was it was literally the perfect mirror of
fun too cool guys that we had no nimis, like
we've just brought the fund wood.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Yeah, like Dan personality, he was witty.
Speaker 17 (01:01:19):
He was actually really funny too, and you know he
knew all the guys, you know, because he was a
real athlete and I was like a comedic comedic athlete
or whatever. And uh and we always we always talk
about Rock and John because we had so I saw.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
They would never get any of those musicians to do
that now again ever allowed themselves to be that vulnerable
ever again.
Speaker 17 (01:01:41):
But you don't understand back then, we were young and
we didn't know what an achilles tear was.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
We never heard of m c l a candy like
now is a l and stuff. But listen, we were.
Speaker 17 (01:02:02):
Doing all kinds of funny stuff, rocking jock softball, we
did basketball, we did a flag football, and you can
kind of get hurt, you know, Like I remember Jenny
McCarthy had just got her boobs done right and she
slid in the second. I was like, those are not airbags,
(01:02:26):
but she was so like competitive just slid in the
second on those pads.
Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
But that's what was smooth glide. Though there was no Internet,
people weren't hyper focused on their profile so much. They
were willing to put themselves out there and be a
little bit vulnerable. And then you're at the hands of
the MTV editors too. It's not you know, like you're like, Okay,
I just filmed all this and hopefully it makes me
look good. And sometimes, you know, you came backward on
(01:02:53):
the cord, the softball field or whatever it would be.
And then MTV went from being the thing that was
so so important to the culture absolutely to being the
ridiculousness channel. And it just money that guy made on
that show for MTV. It was like one hundred and
fifty million dollars that yeah, wow, well that way because
(01:03:18):
he created it. Yeah, it like every time it ran,
he was like getting residuals NonStop. He rolled on that show.
Speaker 17 (01:03:25):
But that's why, you know, and it was very very popular.
It was a simple, simple show to do because it's clips.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Yeah, and you know what's funny. In that Eddie Murphy documentary,
he said that's his favorite show. Eddie Murphy just sits
there and watches ridiculously.
Speaker 17 (01:03:36):
Yeah, because people do ridiculous, right, But I like, I
also liked that show Robin Big.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
I love rob I just loved their friendship on that show.
I really enjoyed that.
Speaker 17 (01:03:48):
But MTV recently, this was maybe two three months ago,
they were saying that there are certain parts of MTV
they're discontinuing.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
Did you hear.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Yeah, that was sad for me.
Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
I was like, but you were there for the oh yeah,
the good, good old days, and and then you know,
parlaying all that into your iconic comedy career, which everybody
gets to go and check out this weekend in Homestead
at the improv Bill Bellamy Man, every time you're in
town where we look forward to it. And when we
heard you were in, everybody in the room they go,
Bill Bellamy's in town this weekend, and everybody in the
(01:04:20):
room went, oh, he's the best. We always love.
Speaker 17 (01:04:26):
I want to thank you guys so much for doing
such a great job here just being in one of
those great great stations because you got to understand man
like radio change too, you know, I know, I remember,
I remember when I first came in the game, it
would be so many people at the radio station and
so many people in Cuba cols. You guys are only here,
only people in the building.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Yeah, that's right. Wait three people. Here's the thing. When
we leave it at ten am, we're still the only
What the hell there's no receptionist.
Speaker 13 (01:04:57):
Out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
I know they flipped the TVs off and it turns
into a different radio station. Things are crazy.
Speaker 17 (01:05:04):
It's so different. But man, you guys always keep it
one hundred and it's a lot of fun. Thank you
for having appreciate you Bill Bellamy. Ladies and gentlemen, go
see him at the approv this weekend. It's the DV
morning show.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Hell right O. Man, what can I do for it?
Speaker 8 (01:05:18):
When it comes to deep cut requests, you can call
dvees Chad Tyson, hit him up on social media, or
you can use the talk dot button on the free
iHeartRadio apps. Tyson gets you home afternoons on one oh
two point five DV e from.
Speaker 7 (01:05:35):
The Bridgeville Appliance Weather Center known for exceptional service. Bridgeville
Appliance is looking for exceptional service texts contact Bridgeville Appliance Today.
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
V Sports my pursuit it with your sports right now?
How great is Bill Bellamy? I mean, you know one
of my favorite guests each and every year when he
comes through Pittsburgh, not only because he indulges our nostalgia. Yeah,
but he's just quick in fun and he's nice to everybody.
Speaker 20 (01:06:01):
He's so kind, and it was it's amazing that, like
MTV is only like six years worth of his career
and want a big impact that made, like, especially in
my brain, that's such a huge part of my growing up.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
But also like you know again, how much of his
career just sprouted from that, but like only six years
and he made so much. Yeah, everybody likes Bill Belmy.
Go see him this weekend at the Improv. Mike Persudam
with your sports right now. The Penguins, I mean what
this is kind of an incredible story that's going on
(01:06:36):
right now. They are really fun to.
Speaker 9 (01:06:38):
Watch and even what it looks like they're gonna throw it.
Yeah after further review, right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
That was some pretty cool stuff in Tampa last and
I will get to that in a second.
Speaker 9 (01:06:48):
Sports that are brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance Steelers
at the Ravens on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
It's time.
Speaker 9 (01:06:56):
The practice participation reports on both sides are a little
bit eyebrow raising for the Steelers. Good news. TJ Watt
full participant with his toe. Bad news, Kyle Duggar hand
did not practice. Good news, Aaron Rodgers full participant with
his left wrist.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Bad news. Patrick Queen limited with his glute.
Speaker 9 (01:07:20):
We also saw Joey Porter Junior show up as limited
yesterday with an elbow. That's kind of the headlining stuff
on the Pittsburgh side. On Baltimore side, quarterback Lamar Jenks
Lamar Jackson ankle did not practice.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
So this is what three weeks in a row he
has missed time, missed at least one day, and they.
Speaker 9 (01:07:39):
Thought this week was going to be He's finally going
to get a full week's prep and be back to
Lamar Jackson. I think he's gonna play, but I think
there's no question he's gonna play, but he's gonna be vulnerable.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Yeah, it's an interesting development.
Speaker 9 (01:07:53):
Also, a cornerback Nate Wiggins limited for the second consecutive
day with a foot. He's number two, is he's yeah, yeah, Oh,
he's their best cover corner. The guy on the other side,
(01:08:13):
Marlon Humphrey's had a real nice career in number forty four.
I think the guy on the other side's the guy
you go at unless they're not deep a corner. And
the guy who's replacing Nate Wiggins, if it comes to that,
is even worse than Marlon Humphrey. Of course, the Steelers
can't throw the ball, so what is the matter? Who
plays cornerback right for Baltimore, that's the theory at least. Also,
wide receiver shod Bateman ankle was downgraded from full to limited.
(01:08:37):
He's trending in the wrong direction. And defensive tackle Travis
Jones missed for personal reasons.
Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
Don't know what that involves, but that.
Speaker 9 (01:08:47):
Would be a significant loss for Baltimore as well. Steelers
trying to get a lot of stuff figured out in
a hurry. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith talked about some of
that yesterday. He maintains there are still ways to scheme
receivers open in the passing game.
Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
You just got to find them.
Speaker 18 (01:09:05):
There's a lot of ways, I mean to find it
very subjective. You're talking about you're talking about a man,
you know, picks and rubs. I mean, it's it's always
paulsive tape and say, oh man, guys open, This is
not the reality.
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
There's a lot that goes into every play, Uh, the simples.
Speaker 5 (01:09:21):
But there's always stuff you do can never help us.
Speaker 12 (01:09:25):
Uh.
Speaker 18 (01:09:25):
You know, I blowed when I hear people think that
they're some kind of victim. There's always more you can do,
and that's our that's our charges, your job.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Uh.
Speaker 18 (01:09:34):
So you don't lose it, you know, lose to a
little row Uh playing the different stories like every game,
or we gotta get a win.
Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
So but to say there's nothing you can do, I don't.
I don't subscribe to.
Speaker 9 (01:09:47):
That little urgency there, Huh, gotta get a win. Yeah,
I mean they got that much understood. As for the
running game, it might help a quarterback Aaron Rodgers could
get his fractured left risked under center, but Smith, like
head coach Mike Tomlin and Rogers previously, is offering no guarantees.
Speaker 13 (01:10:08):
Ah.
Speaker 18 (01:10:08):
Look, users have continuous plans. If a guy guy's playing,
you gotta you know, adapt certainly, we'll see how it goes,
you know, this week, next week, just the evolution to
make sure weren't putting him in the best and protecting him.
But that again, it goes back Jerry did a job
to problem solve and adapt, So got to look at it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
You know something we tried last week.
Speaker 18 (01:10:32):
The things we can do better in that in that
formation stuff, but we'll.
Speaker 9 (01:10:36):
See not inspiring. And with regard to Rogers getting under center, no,
I know which. If he can't, that's it didn't work
last week, it's not gonna work this week.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
I am of the opinion that the passing game shouldn't
be such a factor in your offensive plan that putting
Mason in there hurts you. I'd rather see the guy
that can hand off and play action and dump it
down a little bit effortlessly in there, even if he's
(01:11:09):
not as good at reading the defense, even if he's
not as good at throwing the ball. I'd rather see
Mason in there because I think the way to win
is by pounding the rock.
Speaker 9 (01:11:19):
I could not agree with you more seriously. This is
this is Baltimore Pittsburgh. This is physicality, This is running game.
I don't care if Mason doesn't dissect at the line
of scrimmage and change the play as well as Aaron
Rodgers seventy four is eligible, two more tight ends, line
up your running backs, give.
Speaker 16 (01:11:38):
Him the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Yeah, pound pound pound, do it from under center so
he can actually do it. It's not going to be
a chess match, and it's not going to be forty
five forty three, right. And Aaron Rodgers is not like
Justin Herbert in the pistol or the gun. He's not
a younger guy who can move around and give himself
a little more time too, So like that part of
(01:12:00):
him is limited his ability in the backfield. So you're
not even getting you know, somebody who can create a
little bit back there by giving him some space. He's
still a sitting duck.
Speaker 5 (01:12:12):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
No misconception. I want a healthy Aaron Rodgers being the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:12:17):
Me too.
Speaker 9 (01:12:18):
But I think this hand thing is compromising him to
a degree that it is defeating the purpose. I agree,
But we'll see if they can defeat the Ravens anyway.
See Pens meet the Lightning four to three last night.
This game included the Penguins blowing a three nothing lead
off getting Malkin scoring at seventeen seventeen of the third period,
(01:12:38):
and then the Lightning having a would be tying goal
with the goaltender pulled take it off the board because
a video review revealed a hand pass was missed.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
Stuff like that starts happening. He started, That's my but
it does feel like they made these wholesale chains. And
the net effect of that is not only are they
fund to work to watch, I mean, they're winning. You know.
I didn't expect things to turn around that quickly. Not
that they're like tops in the conference or anything like that.
(01:13:14):
But I thought they were gonna be garbage this year.
I thought they had a chance to be. I was
thinking mediocre with a chance for garbage.
Speaker 5 (01:13:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:13:24):
But the weird part is, not only have they gotten
new additions, both some of the veteran retreads they picked
up were very useful. The kids are all right, yeah right,
and it's all had an effect on the old guys.
That's the part I didn't anticipate me neither Carlson especially,
and Gino Walk and Crossby Latang. Yeah, Crossy's playing well
(01:13:45):
that that could be. He's crassified as anticipated. Yeah, but
he's maybe a little better than even his most ardent
supporters would have. I didn't think he was going to
score goals at the rate he's scoring them. They're in
Dallas on Sunday, jar pretty good again.
Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
But Florida.
Speaker 9 (01:14:03):
I was listening to Madden yesterday and I was kicking
this around with Yoe, you're in playoff contention and Jarry
appears to have immerged as your number one goalie.
Speaker 1 (01:14:13):
Do you trade him anyway? Yes? I would too. I
would too because you're not going to win a cup.
But we'll see what they do. And also might be
the aberration, Well it might, but it will also be
a little bit of a hard sell. And you know,
maybe a harder one is the longer this goes hard
sell to trade him? Base? Oh, I don't know, man.
(01:14:35):
You know, like, for some reason, I always attribute the
Penguins fan base to have a little more acceptance with
the organizational process. Just whatever the organization does, it's great.
Well because because they brought them along before, and I
always referenced Generation X and those years where they said,
(01:14:56):
we're not going to be good for a little bit,
but give us some time. The the tickets are going
to be cheap, come and have fun, and uh, we're
going to build towards something. And then piece by piece
they did.
Speaker 9 (01:15:07):
They dropped the ball a little bit on that with
the emerging out of the lockout with the new salary Kaffir,
when their big free agent signing.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Was Ziggy Pelfy. Yeah, hey, get there, we're gonna get
some guys, and then they got a Ginlin played them
in the wrong place.
Speaker 9 (01:15:25):
You know, there was a lot of I mean, the
longer this goes, I mean it's starting to get to
the point where you are what you are well.
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
And then Boco also bringing the hammer last night, you know,
I mean that that's an element they've sorely missed.
Speaker 9 (01:15:40):
The other thing that's really unanticipated from my end, Rand
is there's the East is looking very soft, mediocre, wide open, Rangers, Rangers,
Toronto and Florida are all really struggling. And those are
three teams I thought playoff locks. So all of a sudden, Okay,
there's three spots open. Somebody got to get them. And
(01:16:00):
we're in December, starting to get starting to get interesting.
All right, Sean, call you're with us. Also, we'll.
Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Hopefully be checking in with a friend to talk a
little Steelers Ravens here and I've got a little got
some feelers out there. I don't know, are you prepared
for me to ask you what's coming up at the
top of the hour, Abbey or are you still in
digital hell over there? I'm out of my digital hell.
Speaker 20 (01:16:23):
Good Babbel released. It's list of words that we've really
blown it at this year. And speaking of words that
you need to know, let me unfortunately introduce you to scrumting.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Oh that sounds bad. Before we get to the commercial break, Mike.
Speaker 9 (01:16:37):
Randall, another massive weekend is upon us, so you're ready
to keep up with it all with Bett Parks.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
There's a.
Speaker 9 (01:16:44):
Huge championship football game on Saturday in Indianapolis, a critical
showdown on Sunday in Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
There's basketball, there's hockey.
Speaker 9 (01:16:52):
That's reason enough to make bet Parts your sports betting companion.
There's always another way to win with Bett Parts. That's
why I love it. That's why I to leave home
without it. That's why the bet Parks Sports Book and
Casino app is the only one I recommend winners, losers, oversondras, parlays,

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Here we go. Gambling problem Call one eight hundred Gambler.
Speaker 11 (01:17:43):
Weekdays on DV with Michelle and Chad Tyson. The songs
just keep coming with Workforce Commercial Free Hours at ten
and three on one oh two point five DV.
Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Is this season when you're in the move Prisoner, everybody
sean call You're hanging out in studio with us. When
Mike was in here, we didn't get to the Pirates
Big move yesterday, which was the trade for the Password. Yes,
that's right, a new nicknamed player coming to Pittsburgh, Justinson Nixon,
(01:18:19):
otherwise known as the Password.
Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
I was talking about this and the reason he's known
as the Password Abbey is the way his name is spelled.
Speaker 7 (01:18:30):
Okay, it looks like a random series of characters. Yes,
they would make the Google would suggest as a good password.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Yes, it does not look like somebody would want to
spell a name that way, alas they have. Uh So,
Joe Stinson's nickname, how do you spell Justin is a
j h os j host y n XO.
Speaker 7 (01:18:54):
Okay, so Joe, Yeah, what you said, Justin's an X
in the name unless it's okay, set the middle certainly felix.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
So they call him the password because it does look
like his name looks like a bunch of random numbers
thrown together or letter thrown together. Now, what I didn't
know is that he has a brother and Sean. You
told me his brother's nickname is the user name. I
thought you were doing a bit Johann fran and I
(01:19:24):
don't know if that's out. That sounds like a fletch name,
general's man fringe int'. Here's why you get to it.
I'm still trying to sort it out.
Speaker 9 (01:19:33):
And yeah, kind of come to grips with it because
it looks to me on the surface, huh, as if
the Pirates have taken an area pitching where they have
an overabundance of good right, and they have used that
to acquire a desperately needed position player who's actually a
legit prospect that everybody in baseball thinks is a good player. Yes,
(01:19:55):
that's right, but it's the Pirates also that's also right.
That's this is the hard part of having a hard
time processing. Somebody got a copy of General Managing for Dummies.
Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
Exactly. Yeah, you're you're forgiven for being.
Speaker 9 (01:20:10):
Surprised by this, like what you're supposed to do, right, Yeah,
it is what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
And then is a really good picture. But they got
a whole bunch of those. Right, But this likely means
they're not gonna deal Keller too right.
Speaker 9 (01:20:22):
I don't know about that. It makes sense on the surface,
but you're throwing too much logically, Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
That's a lot of logic. So but wait, his brother's.
Speaker 7 (01:20:29):
Naming make money right? Is MLB dot com? His brother
Johannes fran j O h a n friend. It looks
like Johann fran But it's got to be Johann from
Johann fran nicknamed the name Johans and Franz nicknamed the
user name was signed three years later by the Red
Sox and ranks as the team's number twenty eight prospect.
(01:20:51):
So that has to just be a Oh, if you're
going to be the password, then I guess I'm the
the you know, the guy with the ex is highly
regarded yes, as a power hitting outfielder.
Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
No question, he's legit one of the best prospects. They
brought it in a lot. What about Tommy fam gonna play?
I don't know where Tommy Fan's gonna play. I don't
think that he might. He might have no fam. What
off Jack Sowinski, Who's gonna not catch the ball and
get pissed off all the time? Listen, I'm very, very
excited if they actually start doing things, and it's it's
kind of one of those situations where every time that
(01:21:21):
we knock the Pirates GM, you never know how handcuffed
they really are, very sure, and you suspect they are
quite handcuffed, and you suspect they are. So I don't
know what Charrington's truly capable of doing. It's you know,
if you have a limited amount of resources to make
stuff happen, you throw bleep at the wall and hope
it sticks. And a lot of the time he's just
(01:21:43):
thrown bleep on the wall, Yeah, and it just falls
on the floor and then takes it and yeah, so
this maybe this does portend. Maybe the noise finally got
loud enough for that complete nincompoop Bob nutting to open
up his wall a little bit, and who knows, maybe
they did Schwerber. It's it's a start. It's this guy's
(01:22:06):
going to command money though, I mean, you know, like yes,
so who knows.
Speaker 7 (01:22:13):
This is This is one small step towards this team's
ultimate dream winning a wild card game, sneaking by in
the first round, and then getting obliterated by the Dodgers
in the NLCS.
Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
And we are now on that road. Hey, you know what,
that would be welcome, welcome change that does, but it
also could be I mean, the skeptic in me thinks
he might just be playing some major defense here, knowing
that he's going to have to get rid of Skeens
next year, right, and then in order to sort of
defend against that, he slowly builds up an incremental amount
(01:22:47):
of talent that gets people excited and then they're like,
I know, we're all in like, oh, well.
Speaker 9 (01:22:52):
Yeah, you had to trade him because next year is well,
we don't have Skeens anymore, but we got a guy
with the next in.
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
The middle of his name.
Speaker 9 (01:23:00):
That's right, uh scheme, No, Hey, I like it. I
mean it's good for you know, please more.
Speaker 5 (01:23:09):
Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
Keep doing this kind of thing, competing trying to win, right,
assembling professional baseball players and putting them on the for dummies.
You know, are any other baseball books for dummies? Managing
for dummies, a complete idiot's guide to like the idea
that for dues, they're not going to be in on
Swer And they weren't in on Josh Naylor sol No, no, no,
(01:23:34):
that was all they never. They weren't even that. No
offer was made, and what number they were talking about
was so south of what he ended up getting. It
wasn't a legitimate offer that could be. Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:23:46):
I don't expect Schwarber, but I want something between Schwarber
and Tommy fam one year for a guy that staks Yeah,
you know what I mean, Like get like a mid
range free agent, get a good player.
Speaker 1 (01:23:57):
With you on that. We got to football game coming
up this weekend, Steelers Ravens. Now, we're gonna start doing
our coverage super early on Sunday. That's right. Chad Tyson's
gonna do a Steelers tailgate for you here on DVE
and that's gonna be all rock songs to get you
in the stadium. I just like to get you fired up,
like war Pigs Thunderstruck. They will not play Renegade though. Well,
(01:24:20):
he's going back and forth on that on whether we're alone.
Why because the problems on the field.
Speaker 9 (01:24:26):
Chad has been trying to sort out whether Renegade is
good or bad. I think he played it again last Sunday, okay,
and they I don't think he's gonna play it this week.
If he played it last week, I feel like the.
Speaker 20 (01:24:38):
Whole point should be to cleanse for everybody, right, try
something different.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
I am okay with playing Renegade. Here's the thing. I
don't think food that's fine. The song didn't get booed.
The people who played the song got booed that first
trying to It's like what Tad said about like let
them eat cake moment, you know what I mean.
Speaker 9 (01:24:59):
It's like out of the press box onto the rotunda
and bood just the boost sticks, one of the boost sticks,
and I felt like I could get away with it.
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
Well, you're not alone, but look, I'm a Renne gig. Hey,
I'm a Renne Gig guy.
Speaker 18 (01:25:12):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
I just think it should not be like everybody gets
a lollipop. So the idea that you go to the
Steelers game and you get your renegade moment. No, it
should be like you know, like I said yesterday, the
band that like they're like a grateful dead, rare song
comes up, maybe not rare, but one they don't play
all the time, so that when it does happen, it's
a special occurrence.
Speaker 9 (01:25:32):
I think they approach it the way they do because
their thinking is, you know, for a home game, we
should at least be competitive in the fourth quarter, So
there should be a renegade opportunity for everyone.
Speaker 7 (01:25:43):
You know, how you solve this this Sunday play Lady,
Play Lady by sticks, and then people say, okay, bring
renegade back.
Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
I don't get just anything with this, anything but Lady.
Speaker 17 (01:25:54):
I've always gone with Babe Man grand Illusion.
Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
Oh yeah, well look we don't need any apcome, you know,
any parallels being drawn good for you? Well look there's
I like sticks. I'm okay with sticks, even when he
made them like a fruity Broadway band. I'm fine with it.
Like I loved all those songs I used to Hey,
that's fine. I know I should listen to Springsteen and
(01:26:21):
not else should I got a girlfriend. It was not
all Springsteen all the time.
Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
When I was growing up.
Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
I know as you grew older, it's the only thing
that resonated. Not the only thing, but the thing that resonated.
That's what happens. There's all this studies about like what
happens to people's listening. It's not just me. No, most
people's listening habits narrow as they get older. They have
(01:26:50):
bills for that. It's okay, but that's you know, thank
god they do because DV is thriving because of it.
Abby has a news update for you when we come. Oh, unfortunately,
I have to introduce you all to scarmating. Hey, don't
forget our friends at ninety six to one Kiss. Mikey, Bob, Kathy,
the whole crew are out there until ten am today
(01:27:13):
and they've been there all week with the stuff of
us promotion, and they every year do an amazing job.
They freeze their asses off for the kids, and they
set records each and every year because of the Pittsburgh
list because they're vast listening audience. And I know a
lot of DV fans and folks go out there as
well to help out Mikey, Bob, Kathy and company. Go
out if you can before ten am today drop off
(01:27:36):
a couple of toys, but that's in a couple of hours.
An easier way to do it just go on their
website at ninety six to one kiss and you can
donate online, or you could go on the Amazon. They
have pre selected shopping that you can do and they
say we need this, we need that, and you can
go in and just buy a bunch of stuff for them.
That way, I'll talk about that.
Speaker 9 (01:27:53):
It's really fun to go there, yes, because you get
the full experience. There's always welcoming people from our company
out there. But you see the buses, you see the
toys pile it up. You get to take your contribution
and add it to the pile it. It makes you
feel really good.
Speaker 20 (01:28:10):
It last year when we went out, there was like
a whole school bus coming in of like elementary students.
Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
That gets strong rally kids. Yeah, they get so hopped
up to do the collection.
Speaker 20 (01:28:19):
They come out on a bus and then they all
get to Yeah, put the toys on the bus. It's
it's nice again to Randy's point, if you can physically
go out to Robinson and it's right by the home
good store in that complex.
Speaker 1 (01:28:33):
Shopping on the end of the strip one. Yeah, right
at the town Center. Very convenient. But if you can't
and again because the hours are dwindling down here.
Speaker 20 (01:28:40):
Ninety six to one Kiss dot com and you can
just make an online donation, you're still.
Speaker 13 (01:28:44):
Part of it.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
It's the show where you picked the tune, Saint Doyd.
We all want to hear.
Speaker 8 (01:28:49):
Let us know what you want to hear on our
socials phone or the talkback button on the iHeartRadio on
e three days at noon, I'm going to eat the
whole thing. It's they all request DVE electric lunch.
Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Hey, I'm Sam and.
Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
I'm Calvin with Cousins Roofing Siding indecks. You ever wait
way too long for a haircut? And finally did one
to think, why didn't I do that months ago?
Speaker 11 (01:29:14):
W d v E Pittsburgh and iHeartRadio station guaranteed human.
Speaker 17 (01:29:24):
He was another guy that was a freakishly good athlete
and very fun like he was. We weren't we Dan
Dan with Dan with the White Bill Bella met and
that was the Black Dan Quartet. So it was it
was literally the perfect mirror of fun, too cool guys
that we had no enemies like we've just brought the fund.
Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
You're like Wesleyan Woodie. Yeah, like Dan personality. He was witty.
Speaker 17 (01:29:52):
He was actually really funny too, and you know he
knew all the guys, you know, because he was a
real athlete and I was like a comedian, app com
athlete or whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
Yeah. And we always talk about Rock and John because
we had so I saw they would never get any
of those musicians to do that now again. Now nobody
would ever allow themselves to be that vulnerable ever again.
Speaker 17 (01:30:13):
But you don't understand back then, we were young and
we didn't know what an achilles tear was.
Speaker 8 (01:30:20):
Brandy Bellman and the DV morning show.
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
The Great Bill Bellamy on with his last hour. He
came in at seven o'clock to promote his shows at
the Improv this weekend, two Tonight, two Tomorrow, one on Sunday.
He's the best. As I said earlier, I love that
he lets us sort of indulge in the nostalgia of
his years at MTV doing television and movies. He was
ubiquitous on all media landscape through the nineties into the
(01:30:45):
early two thousands, and then parlay that into a hugely
successful stand up career where he continues to absolutely crush
everywhere you go. I mean, this most recent stand up
tour has been dominating for him. And I like that
he's doing the clubs in Pittsburgh because he doesn't always
do the clubs. He does theaters a lot of times.
So when he comes to Pittsburgh, he jumps in the
(01:31:07):
improv and basically sells it out for three days. And
there's value in that too for comics. I get it.
But he's just one of those guys that we always
look forward to hanging out with. Highest recommendation to go
see Bill Bellamy this weekend and somebody that knows to
eat in Pittsburgh. See I Like, I appreciate that too.
Like it bothers me when we have these young Steeler
players on guys who've only been on the team for
(01:31:28):
one or two years, and we say like, ah, well,
what's some of your favorite haunts to visit and they're
like I just go to like Chipotle and like you know,
BW three and everything. Like dude, no, no, no, get local.
But there should be that should be a job for
the Steelers where there's like a guy who takes them
to restaurants that are local restaurants and not changed coordivating ginser.
(01:31:50):
I'm in on it.
Speaker 20 (01:31:51):
Why not the same way that we've said for the
pit there needs to be a coordinating yinzer who just
ensures that things.
Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
Are you know, yeah, that could be the same person
as far as I can. Maybe we need to elect
that person like an ombudsman, you know what I mean
in Pittsburgh that like oversees all of those situations. Welcome
recruiting class of twenty twenty six, or the draft class
of twenty twenty six, or the Pittsburgh Steelers walks onto
every film.
Speaker 7 (01:32:16):
So that's say say Carnegy exactly, car No, no, not
a car Carnegie exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:32:24):
And I think we had this discussion off the air
the other day, but every time somebody says I'm a yinser,
you're all already not a yinser, you know what I mean,
Like yinsers don't even know they're yinsers.
Speaker 5 (01:32:36):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (01:32:36):
And the idea that you moved to Pittsburgh and that
makes you a yinser is just not I think it's
disrespectful to the actual yensers. And I have great love, affinity, affection,
and respect for yinzer culture, don't get me wrong, But
even after having been here for thirty years, I would
never consider myself a yinser, and not everybody born in
Pittsburgh is a yinser. Can you tell me which Carrik
(01:32:59):
Barr you're from? No, then you're not.
Speaker 21 (01:33:04):
But there are some people and it bothers me when
there's like and I think it's mostly on the younger
sect that doesn't understand that that is not even something
you earn.
Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
It's just something you are. Yeah, it's something in you embody.
Speaker 20 (01:33:22):
Yes, and you become by just osmosis, even like it
where you live. It's the things you learn to complain about.
It's the things that you gravitate towards when you're hungry.
It's learning to like, befriend a raccoon and name it Franco.
Speaker 1 (01:33:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 20 (01:33:43):
It's just the things that you are. If you have
to tell somebody you're insert, chances are you're not.
Speaker 1 (01:33:50):
It's a it's the best way to say it.
Speaker 22 (01:33:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:33:52):
Steeler Twitter right now is really ugly people. We gotta
we got calm down. Everyone's got calm down. It's almost
bring it down a few notches. This is this is
our Steelers. Let's this is why I was bothered with
the Firemac Canada chance going to you know, across sports,
crossing the streams into Penguin games and things like that.
(01:34:13):
I think it's like an ugly side of us and
it's airing our dirty laundry. And right now Steelers Twitter
really ugly. A lot of ugliness going on here.
Speaker 13 (01:34:24):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:34:24):
I don't evenant to I don't want to dignify it.
I don't want to dignify it. It's just a call
to like, let's remember worst we are one nation, Steeler nation.
Speaker 20 (01:34:35):
Let's all call down, head into the Ravens the big
week game. We need to pull together for six and six.
Speaker 1 (01:34:42):
They're six and six, this is for first place in
the division. And I just see a lot of people
who gave up and we just want to cut the
ship in half here, Pearl Harbor exactly. This is what
I'm saying. We're not at that point right now. Let's
all calm down. Yes, there's a larger discussion to be had,
but let's not lose our dignity. We can.
Speaker 7 (01:35:01):
We can have that discussion in January. We probably will
have that discussion in January, but it's December.
Speaker 1 (01:35:08):
That's all I'm saying. Yeah, don't forget your WDV, butd
like game Day bar the week, the wind Haven and
Cranberry this NFL season, stopping the wind Haven and grab
two seventy five bud Light bottles during Steelers games. But
like easy to drink, easy to enjoy news.
Speaker 20 (01:35:20):
This hour is brought to you by a window Nation
cold with sunshine today a high of thirty three.
Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
It's cloudy on Saturday with a high of thirty six.
Speaker 20 (01:35:27):
And then on Sunday, clouds and a bit of snow
accumulation of coding to an inch.
Speaker 1 (01:35:31):
It's going to be a high of thirty six.
Speaker 20 (01:35:33):
Health officials report that an increasing number of habitual cannabis users,
including teenagers, are showing up in emergency rooms complaining of
stomach pains which involve uncontrollable and painful vomiting.
Speaker 1 (01:35:47):
The pain is so intense that these patients.
Speaker 20 (01:35:50):
Are screaming while vomiting, which has led to it being
called scrammeting on social media.
Speaker 1 (01:35:57):
That was my favorite character on sesame Streets, the trist
gets on happened.
Speaker 20 (01:36:06):
The official medical name for her trust gets with some
cream cheese.
Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 20 (01:36:12):
The official medical name for the condition is cannabis hyper
emesis syndrome or c HS, and it's a real thing,
and apparently it's been a real thing for a long time.
And so this is just one of these kind of
medical anomalies with cannabis where this is a thing that
(01:36:32):
just happens to people depending on your tolerance or not.
Speaker 1 (01:36:37):
Actually, but from just doing a little bit of THHC no,
and I would say from an over abundance chronically.
Speaker 20 (01:36:47):
Chronically, but also some people just it's not a drug
that's a good fit for you.
Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Look, there's lots of people who should not have a
sip of alcohol. Correct, it's think of it in similar terms.
So I've never heard of this until recently. And it
always makes me think that like Big alcohol puts out
these studies that are anti weed because they're like nobody's
drinking anymore because they're.
Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
Getting high all the time and they don't have a hangover,
right exactly.
Speaker 20 (01:37:19):
In this story, uh, doctors say that they observe patients
holding their stomach. They complain of really bad abdominal pain
and nausea and that goes on for hours at a
time when they're having these episodes. But usually what they
do is it's anti nausea medications and they get ivy
fluids and it fights back against dehydration, and that's mostly
(01:37:40):
because they can't stop throwing up. You know, I can
understand getting the spins for sure, if you're doing way
too much. My guess in this is because of the availability,
We're probably seeing this happen more and people you're.
Speaker 1 (01:37:56):
Over though, And I always equate it to it's like
someone saying I'm going to try drinking, and then they
guzzle a bottle of tequila and get violently ill, and
they go, oh, drinking's not for me. Correct, Well, I
just think you did it wrong.
Speaker 7 (01:38:09):
But so the scrammting is not from the get Go order.
It's not from getting high and walking in and getting
the spicy talkies in a blue Gatorade.
Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
Personally, I would say, sure it is. It's no way, dude,
Get Go's the best. I mean, dude, the Gecko's a
lifesaver and delicious and one of the best places you
could possibly go and get food. No, no, no, the
Sono Go order. Then it's not about where you go.
It's about what you what you buy when you get there.
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 20 (01:38:36):
It's about your choices when you are spinning out and
deciding what's.
Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
Going to make me feel like I'm on the ground again.
Speaker 7 (01:38:44):
Well, but there are, especially with younger folks who came
up in the age of their vape pens and their
you know, the availability of all of this, there are
people who treat it like the miracle drug solved for everything,
that treat it as their mental health medication and do
it to get sober and do it to you know,
there's a small amount of people that that's true for. Yeah,
(01:39:06):
and that's not necessarily a good thing.
Speaker 1 (01:39:10):
Yeah, small, yeah, tiny, Just just lick a little bit
and move on.
Speaker 7 (01:39:16):
Now.
Speaker 20 (01:39:16):
I gave you a new word in scramedy. And you know,
if that wasn't made for the morning show, I don't
know what it is. But Babbel released its annual list
of the most mispronounced words of the year, and it's
based on the top words that politicians, news anchors, and
people like me struggled with in twenty twenty five. Here
(01:39:38):
are the top five words that people could not pronounce
this year. Uh Zoran mon Dami is the first one,
of course.
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
Wat how do you say his last name? Mom? Donnie? Mom,
donnie mom? Don Okay, like you're introducing your mom to
Donnie Mom, Donny, Donny Mom. It selected mayor of New
York City last week. Munjaro, Oh, that's the drug. That's
one of the very.
Speaker 20 (01:40:07):
Popular weight loss drugs, similar to ozembic. People get that
one wrong as well.
Speaker 1 (01:40:11):
Is that the third brother Jose Nixon and Johann Fran
their younger brother manjaro. If it's the password, the user name,
the capture test is the traffic lightsre.
Speaker 20 (01:40:25):
There's this one, I think just because people maybe saw
it spelled out a bit more because it was a
big story this year, the Louver.
Speaker 1 (01:40:35):
Everybody wants to say the acta metaphine. I know how
to say that. That's for sure. You've seen a menaphon.
I seen himniphin What was he doing. There's one dude
who doesn't to say that, but that's okay, he'll figure
it out. And number five was Alex Murda. Oh, it's
(01:40:59):
Alex doc rd doc. Yes so, but it's spelled daw.
But it looks like it's spelled murd daw. And I
isn't that the Scottish thing like where how Edinburgh is
like in pitt Pittsburgh is really it's yeah, it's like
in that same family of pronunciation.
Speaker 20 (01:41:20):
Yes, okay and alex Alec murd doc is the guy
in South Carolina who murdered his wife and son. And
Netflix and HBO both did documentaries this year.
Speaker 7 (01:41:34):
If you get arrested, the Netflix and HBO both show
up you did it? Yes, the try, you might, you might,
you might be innocent.
Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
Yeah, we're gonna wrap with this.
Speaker 20 (01:41:47):
Portugal the Man closed out there recent Brooklyn show with
a cover of Rage against the Machines, Killing in.
Speaker 1 (01:41:52):
The Name, and it featured weird Al Yankovic. Oh, I
want to hear this. It's also had Jorma to cone
in it. Orma his name is yourma. I believe there's
the I believe it's a soft j mur How for
this segment, it couldn't be better.
Speaker 6 (01:42:11):
Uh.
Speaker 20 (01:42:11):
The performance included a lot of heavy riffs and a
lot of shouting. But it's just one of those things
where you wouldn't think that weird Al would be involved
in this.
Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
But let's go ahead and take a listen a little
murdier and weird Al is honestly this is him on
(01:42:42):
the mic. That's awesome. I'm just surprised. Instead of killing
(01:43:10):
in the name of He didn't do like, you know,
chilling in the name of and he talked about things
that you freeze or I was like billing in the
name of thrilling in the flame of Here you got
a lot best one weird. How it's gonna be at.
Speaker 20 (01:43:24):
Starlak on August the first, and of course you can
grab tickets at DV dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:43:29):
Again. It's gonna be cold the sunshine today and I
I have thirty three Steelers Ravens. Who knows more about
that rivalry than Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben joining us at
eight forty five here on the show to talk Steelers
Ravens Stick Around. Mike's coming in next here on.
Speaker 11 (01:43:46):
DVE live from the Donz Appliances studios where DV Sports.
Speaker 1 (01:43:54):
My Prasuda with your sports here as we get ready
for Steelers Ravens Sunday here on DV forty five. Ben
Roethlisberger will be joining us here on the show to
talk about this storied rivalry outstanding. Yeah, I might ask
him about one or two other things. Well, we all
know the one play that sort of embodies the the
entire sort of vibe of the Steelers Ravens rivalry and
(01:44:16):
that's him fighting off that Suggs sack and yeah, and
incompletely past. And I love that that he looks at
it that way.
Speaker 9 (01:44:24):
Yeah, And I think it's a perfect because you know,
Ben Roethlisberger one of the faces of a great Steelers
tradition and Terrell Suggs one of the faces of a
great Ravens tradition.
Speaker 1 (01:44:35):
Yes, and they're going at it and they're just tooth
and nail. But it's funny because and I want to
ask Ben about this because I know he talked about
it on his podcast, The Difference Podcast. Yeah, yeah, I'll
tell you about it later, the difference between Steelers Ravens,
Steelers Brown's and Steelers Bengals. And he always says Steelers
Ravens is built on respect as much hate as there is,
(01:44:57):
whereas he thinks the Bengals is just a street fight
time and there's no respect, and it's it's you know,
everything is on the table for that one, like you know, oh, absolutely,
like prison yard.
Speaker 9 (01:45:11):
Rules, like yeah, there's no I'm not gonna do this
because it's classless.
Speaker 1 (01:45:15):
It's like, yes, they deserve this, I mean, spit on DK,
you know, like that's the level of animosity that got
going in that one. But looking forward to talking to
Big Ben here at eight forty five Sports is Up,
brought to you by Bridgeville Appli.
Speaker 9 (01:45:29):
It's revelation on the South Side yesterday, and I got
a credit Al Saunders for asking the question that got
the answer we're gonna hear from in a minute from
Tara Austin. You know, we were all pulling our hair
out after the playoff game last year because the gameplay
was so bad, seemingly so bad. Right there there, TJ.
(01:45:49):
Watt is crashing down on Derek Henry when he doesn't
have the ball the whole game, and Lamar Jackson is
just dancing around the end and picking up eight fifteen twelve,
and the Ravens just set a tone on the first
drive and then continue shoving it down the Steeler's throat.
And Al Saunders was able to phrase this question to
Tara Austin, the Steelers defensive coordinator, in the context of,
(01:46:13):
you know, you guys usually did pretty well against Lamar Jackson,
and you know, statistically the Steelers have done better than
Jackson against any other team. And then that changed last year,
changed in December, and it really changed in the playoff
game and why was that the case. Well, it turns
out Derek Henry's addition in Baltimore changed the game, specifically
(01:46:34):
the defensive game planning.
Speaker 23 (01:46:37):
Well, I think so when you add a Hall of
the Future I'm going to probably say a future Hall
of Fame runner, you have to address it.
Speaker 5 (01:46:44):
And it does.
Speaker 23 (01:46:46):
You know, it's one of those things where it's like, Okay, hey,
we make sure we stop him. Now you have two
things that's got to stop out of that backfield that
you're really worried about that are game changers, and so
it does affect your planning sometimes in terms of that,
but that's part of this business. And so we have to,
you know, rise up to the challenge and see what
we can do better. You know, we had a little
success in the first game last year, didn't have success
(01:47:07):
in the second and third games. But again each game
is different. So we'll just prepare and work our tail
off to try to be successful.
Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
This week. They were more afraid of Henry, terrified to
Henry and what it looked like to me at least
whatever they did, Yeah, it didn't work.
Speaker 9 (01:47:26):
Covering Jackson was Mika Fitzpatrick lining up his usual twenty
yards off the ball or wherever, you know, playing center field,
whatever that was. He's always a deep center fielder, and
he was supposed to run up if Lamar kept it
on the read option key. Now, Lamar Jackson pretty good athlete, right,
hard guy to tackle one on one. You're asking Mika
(01:47:47):
Fitzpatrick to come from distance at speed and break that
guy down.
Speaker 1 (01:47:52):
Yeah, that is a flawed I think that works when
you're on a dry erase board and you say, oh,
X can go get up. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:47:58):
I don't think it works on the well, we know
it doesn't. And then they didn't even stop Henry once
once they started rolling downhill.
Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
It's just that's what I'm worried about.
Speaker 9 (01:48:06):
And I think that element of it was the f
this game plan component on the part of the players,
and they gave up. They stopped fighting. At least they
did according to Kirk kurb Street.
Speaker 1 (01:48:16):
They did.
Speaker 9 (01:48:17):
We saw anybody else watched the game well, because there
was no adjustment from what they were doing either. It's
just like to continue doing that into the second half
made absolutely no sense. But what I'm worried about this
weekend is that it won't matter against Derrick Henry and
now he has not been, you know, the superman that
he has been in the past, and with Lamar being limited,
(01:48:38):
that makes things a little less, you know, conspicuous.
Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
Or or does it.
Speaker 9 (01:48:45):
Lamar Jackson did not practice yesterday. He was limited on Wednesday.
He's been battling hamstring and tow issues. Now he's got
an ankle tera. Austin's not buying.
Speaker 1 (01:48:56):
Any of that man.
Speaker 23 (01:49:01):
When you go into stadium with him, you presume it's
always one hundred percent Lamar. If you underestimate that man,
you're doing that at your own risk. You know, whether
he's running more or whatever. He has the ability to
change a game and a heartbeat.
Speaker 9 (01:49:16):
And so we'll prepare someon I think they should. I
don't know what Jackson's condition is. I'm not down there obviously,
but here's.
Speaker 1 (01:49:24):
What I think.
Speaker 9 (01:49:24):
I think the Ravens are going to perceive this game
as the Steelers are perceiving it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:29):
Hey, this is a big one.
Speaker 9 (01:49:31):
Its first place is on the line, control of the
division down the stretch is on the line.
Speaker 1 (01:49:36):
This is one of those games you do what you
gotta do and you win it.
Speaker 5 (01:49:38):
Right.
Speaker 9 (01:49:39):
The Steelers just gave up an avalanche of rushing yards
to James Cook, and Buffalo when Cook was bouncing runs outside.
I think this is the game. Lamar has not been
running by design. It'll call design runs for him. He's
scrambling to extend, not to run down the field. For
the most part, I think this is the game they
read option the Steelers to death because they've just shown
(01:50:00):
everybody they can't handle an edge run.
Speaker 5 (01:50:03):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:50:03):
I read a stat yesterday about Lamar previously leading the
league in making guys miss and this year he is
like over, he goes down on first contact, first defender
is bringing him down.
Speaker 9 (01:50:19):
Something has been a miss. But I think this is
a game where he's gonna empty the tank. So they
gotta they got to stop those edge runs.
Speaker 5 (01:50:27):
I mean.
Speaker 9 (01:50:28):
Another interesting answer for Ustin yesterday was asked about the
cornerbacks play against the run against Buffalo, which you know, well,
I asked, we all know how the cornerback's played against
the run against the buff against Buffalo, and he said, well,
it wasn't all their fault.
Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
I'm paraphrasing. Care It wasn't just the corners. It's a
team defense.
Speaker 9 (01:50:47):
They they were terrible. So except for a few well
there were the standout times.
Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
It was funny we talked about this this week, how
Joey Porter Junior made some really nice open field tackles
on James Cook and in our from that perspective, absolved
him from the things we didn't know he wasn't doing.
Speaker 9 (01:51:04):
Yeah, when I went back and looked at it, he
was supposed to be doing that more often then the
guy on the other side.
Speaker 1 (01:51:09):
They just collapsed.
Speaker 9 (01:51:11):
And you go back to last December twenty one in Baltimore,
which was the regular season game, Ravens had two twenty
rushing then then the playoff game, then this Buffalo at
the block.
Speaker 1 (01:51:22):
That's three two.
Speaker 9 (01:51:24):
Hundred plus yard rushing games in less than a calendar year.
Not exactly the Steel Curtain. I don't really care what
you did against the Colts. When against that, you know,
that's that's bad. That's a problem. And also I'm fascinated
to see what kind of game plan they come up
with this week because watching the way Jackson has thrown
(01:51:46):
and the way the Steelers have not stopped the run.
I don't care if you got to play a nine man,
but they need to commit as many defenders as they
think they need to stop the run. And if they
get beat one on one, coverage throw. Okay, hats off
to Lamar, but they cannot let this happen again. They
lose a different way. If you're gonna lose.
Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
On the other side of the ball, what do you
think the chances are Adam Feelin plays. I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:52:14):
He was practicing Wednesday and Thursday. I think they got
to try something different wide receiver at this point. I've
heard Rogers say enough that guys aren't getting open. Theelan
is six' two or six, Foot scantling is six'. To
two they got to try a, taller, guy yeah because
(01:52:37):
there may be times when they're gonna have to throw
the ball to a guy who's not open and expect
them to catch. It Anyway and thelan has had a
long history doing, exactly That and scantling has had a History.
WITH rogers, i, Mean hey i'm they're Not Getting justin
Jefferson Or jamar chase in. The lineup we've run. Him
(01:52:58):
yet let's not, kid ourselves, BUT well i think they're
pretty deliberate on making sure these guys.
Speaker 1 (01:53:05):
Know, everything well then that Would mean feeling is not
going to play this weekend because we've heard a lot
about how, YOU know i called it. In cut you
ran an out. Cut right the precisions come To the
wednesday night. Cake party.
Speaker 9 (01:53:17):
Precisions outstanding but sometimes you just got to trust a
guy to make. A play, you know it's nice to scheme.
Guys open sometimes you got to throw it to a
guy because that's the guy you want to throw, it
to and you got to live with.
Speaker 1 (01:53:29):
The Result sean collier will have your movie reviews for
the weekend coming up here in the nine, o'clock Hour
and abby has your news coming up at. The top the.
Speaker 20 (01:53:39):

Ben oh, my Goodness and ben w side on Past
because suggs was all.
Speaker 1 (01:54:52):
Over them.
Speaker 22 (01:54:54):
That is one of the GREAT plays i have seen
in a. Long time suggs is going after. The ball
he's going for the strip instead of. The sack here
trying to knock, it out grabbing everything, you can't trying
to get. The ball, roethlisberger escapes flips it out, of
there and saves himself about seven yards on.
Speaker 1 (01:55:11):
The play what a Play by.
Speaker 7 (01:55:13):
Roethlisberger joining us, right now the guy who made, That Play,
Ben roethlisberger ladies.
Speaker 5 (01:55:16):
And gentlemen.
Speaker 12 (01:55:19):
I'll tell YOU what i can remember for some, weird
plays making, a tackle, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
Shoe, string tackles. Incomplete, passion no but, that, ONE really
i mean the respect between You and suggs, after that
because he's talking about that. Play too that play showed
the battle level that this rivalry used. To inspire what's?
The guy if you got to pick one Play For
steelers ravens, that one well the hit on mc gay,
he uh you, Know no but the point is that
(01:55:46):
each side has had. Its, moments yeah but that, was
yeah that was like the two of the both. Of,
them yeah ever just. Going, out yeah, You're.
Speaker 12 (01:55:54):
RIGHT mike i mean there's like there's like five plays
you know that like that would from my, you know
eighteen years of playing those guys twice and sometimes three times,
a year, you know there there's very few times that, there's,
like uh, you know you think About that robert like
like how many times was it?
Speaker 5 (01:56:11):
A blowout?
Speaker 12 (01:56:12):
You know IT just i can think of one time
where we went through a bunch of touchdowns on him.
At home that was a lot. OF fun i think
of ab reaching the ball over the. GOAL line i
think Was That.
Speaker 5 (01:56:19):
Christmas, man yeah it.
Speaker 1 (01:56:21):
Was, extension, yeah yeah like.
Speaker 12 (01:56:24):
Like probably not the smartest player on, our part, you
know but. It, works yeah that play like stiff arm
and him and just throwing IT because i remember after,
THAT play i remember him looking at me just being
like like, totally dejected like what are?
Speaker 5 (01:56:38):
You doing and it's JUST like i, Don't know i'm
just trying.
Speaker 1 (01:56:41):
To live but just trying. To lift you told me
a while back that was one of your, favorite, plays
right is it still?
Speaker 12 (01:56:47):
It, is no it truly is because and again for
the most unique. Of reasons BUT if i think at
that point happens with any other player or any, other
team it probably goes down as like. A whatever but
because of that rivalry that, it's him how GOOD he,
i mean just all the all the factors that went
into it make that play that much, more special you
(01:57:09):
Know what.
Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
I'm saying but, the difference, you know you talked about
this on your podcast a couple of, weeks ago the
difference in the rivalry and the North, Between, ravens Bengals.
And browns they're, all, Unique.
Speaker 12 (01:57:23):
Right, WELL yeah, i, mean oh start With the browns
that's not.
Speaker 5 (01:57:27):
Really Robbery the.
Speaker 12 (01:57:28):
Bengals one you still get day cards from them absolutely all.
Speaker 5 (01:57:33):
The time they asked me about naming the.
Speaker 12 (01:57:35):
New stadium, but uh, you know like The the bengals
one was always just like you went into that game
and it's like someone's gonna get hurt and it's not
because of something like just, hard, Football right like you're
like something there's something dirty is. Gonna happen you were
(01:57:56):
afraid of like under, the pile, late hit peep shot is,
going yes but then the rival Of the bank Or
the ravens Was like i'm going to, get Hurt but
i'm going to get hurt because it's just good old.
Fashioned football and, you're like you, know what when you're
looking at Like the, ravens games you always looked at
(01:58:17):
the next week's opponent because, You're like i'm going to.
Speaker 5 (01:58:18):
Be hurting WHO am? I playing?
Speaker 1 (01:58:20):
You?
Speaker 12 (01:58:20):
Know yeah are you going to play an? Easy team
or you know who are you? Playing next because you're
gonna be hurting for for a week or two after
this game because it's just it's just smashed. Mouth football and.
It was it was and this sounds, really weird but it.
Was fun it's fun to go and play just like
good old, fashion football, talking trash But like i'll, never forget,
you Know ray lewis put me to the ground and
(01:58:42):
not being able to breathe barely and then helping me
up and, being, like hey, come on, COME.
Speaker 5 (01:58:46):
On i don't want you to go out on. THE
game i WANT to i want to.
Speaker 12 (01:58:48):
Beat you and you felt the, same way like if
you went to that game Against the ravens and someone
was out, Or questionable, you're, like no, COME on i
want you like part of you wanted them, to play
part of, you didn't, You know Like When ed reid,
Was questionable, i'm, LIKE boy I really i'd like to
Beat the Ravens With, ed reid but he's.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
Really, good.
Speaker 1 (01:59:05):
Yeah, You know THAT'S how i Feel about lamar. This weekend,
It's like i'd be okay if he. DIDN'T play i.
REALLY would.
Speaker 5 (01:59:11):
I know that's a, big difference.
Speaker 1 (01:59:13):
YOU Know dk metcalf talked about having to be Told
About steelers rats and, he's, like yeah, YOU know, i
heard uh they were telling us, about IT and i
watched some some footage old games, and stuff and, he's
LIKE but I guess i'll, You know i'll find OUT
when i. Get There but i'm just approaching it like.
Another game is it something that you can teach somebody
(01:59:35):
about or do you really need to experience it before
you can fully comprehend the the intensity of? This, MATCHUP yeah,
I mean, MIKE push I mean i think and is it?
The same is it?
Speaker 12 (01:59:47):
The same THAT'S what i was going, To say like
even and And obviously i've been removed not locking for
a couple. Of YEARS so i can't speak on for
the last couple, of years but even my last couple of,
years there it just, felt different, You Know and i'm
part of that is just, you know when when the
players are different and things, like that and obviously the
coaches are, the same but at some point you kind
of lose some, OF it i think a.
Speaker 5 (02:00:08):
Little BIT but i, you know he'll get.
Speaker 12 (02:00:11):
Out THERE and i mean it wasn't too often either
that both teams going into that were like. Five hundreds
usually both teams, were battling and you're you know you
were gonna be. You know obviously it still is a
FOR The, afc north which is is kind. Of crazy but,
this game, you know has a lot more on it
than it probably has in, a while AND so i
think he'll experience it quick and get a feel. FOR
(02:00:31):
it i remember when when we were playing To coach
randy was was my quarterback coach. And coordinator like all
The dry e race boards were written. In purple you
just got tired of seehim purple, ahole week and so
you just added That Little and I'M sure i don't
know if they're still doing the, or not but they
just added that extra little fuel.
Speaker 1 (02:00:46):
To the to. This rivalry what about the actual Playing
in baltimore aspect, Of.
Speaker 5 (02:00:52):
It yeah that's a.
Speaker 12 (02:00:54):
BIG deal i mean that was one of the places
that you you you almost didn't feel safe driving into.
The stadium, you know you're going through the you're you're
driving through there and there's the people. OR tailgating, i
mean that was one of the few PLACES that i
saw grandma's doing things that grandma's aren't supposed, to do.
You know so it's those fans are.
Speaker 1 (02:01:11):
Very, Passionate Yeah ben roethlisberger with us. Right Now steelers Ravens.
This Sunday aaron rodgers has that left wrist situation that
made it impossible for him to get. UNDER center, i
mean it clearly hurt them. Last week is that something
that they can trot out again if he hasn't gotten
any better and expect for things to look differently on
(02:01:34):
the offensive side of. The, BALL well i.
Speaker 12 (02:01:37):
Knew on the first play last WEEK when i saw
what was on, His wrists, i'm, like oh he will
Not be there's no way he can go under center
just because of, that bulkiness and that won't it won't really.
Bend backwards and but, but again, You know i've played
in games usually because of a lower body body Injury
where i've been in the pistol the, whole game and
so you can easily adjust your game plans to. The
(02:01:58):
PISTOL and i think have if they are in d
gonna stay with that. Game plan in terms of being
not able to go, under CENTER then i think they'll
be a week better, with IT and i think, they'll have,
you know better. Understanding it it does hurt you in
certain areas of kind of, short, yardage yes being able
to do some of the play action turning, your back,
you know EVEN like i WASN'T really i can't tell if,
(02:02:20):
he Can LIKE paul i hold the ball to his
left hand because obviously if you're selling a play action
to the, right side you're holding that ball out with your.
Left hand so there's definitely some things in there that
are gonna, be unique and maybe they're going to be,
YOU know i heard at one point he said he's
gonna be working with. The trainers maybe they'll figure out
something that he can wear that's a little smaller that
allows him to. Do SOMETHING so i would expect his
comfort level to be, one more, you know not better
(02:02:44):
this week.
Speaker 5 (02:02:44):
Because he played last week.
Speaker 12 (02:02:46):
With, it now my concern was last week to the
natural reaction of when you, go down like bracing yourself
right like if you're if you're getting tackled from the
right side and you go to put your left hand
down just it's it's natural to put your. Arm out
you're not gonna just keep your Arm and, i'm, thinking
like oh my, wrist hurts let me fall on. My
shoulder you're gonna, Brace yourself and so that'll be the interesting.
(02:03:06):
THING again, i mean obviously we hope he doesn't use
his face like last week to brace himself when he
getship from the. Blind sidle let's hope that doesn't.
Speaker 9 (02:03:13):
Happen again but just through a, philosophical standpoint how do
you straddle the line between, All right i'm gonna throw
it to the guy, who's open and, ALL right i
need To play i'm going to this GUY and i.
Speaker 5 (02:03:26):
DON'T care, I mean i've been in both.
Speaker 12 (02:03:31):
Situations obviously sometimes when things are just like like you're
trying to spread the, ball around you're trying to throw
the guy off of like a read because you know
the defense gave me, this coverage and so it Tells
me i'm supposed to go to this receiver because the
play was designed, for this but it's just.
Speaker 1 (02:03:47):
Not.
Speaker 12 (02:03:47):
Working well you, know what at some point, you say you,
know what, Forget that i'm going to my. Comfort blanket
i'm going to a GUY that i know is going
to get open and going to a GUY who i
know is. Gonna Win and i've had guys. Like That
i've i've had, the behindwards, the Abs The, heath millers
guys that you're, just like you, know what, Forget this
i'm finding. That guy AND so i think it just
depends on. The situation but it has to happen at.
Speaker 5 (02:04:08):
Some point and how.
Speaker 1 (02:04:09):
Open do they have to be or do you just
throw it to?
Speaker 5 (02:04:11):
Him anyway, they don't they don't need to.
Speaker 12 (02:04:15):
BE open, i mean, you know when you have, that guy,
you KNOW like, i said THE guys, i mentioned and there,
were others but but when you have a guy, like
that at, some point it doesn't matter if. They're open,
you're like this guy is going. To, win now if
there's two or three defenders, on them that's a different.
Ball game but one on one or, Tight coverage, i'm,
THINKING man. I gotta i gotta put my trust in
(02:04:35):
my GUY that i trust and throw him.
Speaker 5 (02:04:37):
The ball and.
Speaker 12 (02:04:37):
Do that so, you know there's there's a little bit
of that and You gotta, BUT again i don't, You
know aaron has that, with guys but he hasn't been
here for a long time doing all this stuff with
some of, those guys and he went here in the
summer or have a long term relationship with some of,
these guys, You.
Speaker 1 (02:04:50):
Know yeah not being here in the summer might have
ended up partner more than. People anticipated are you surprised
how Little friar mouth has been involved blows.
Speaker 5 (02:04:59):
My MIND it's I don't i don't. GET it i
don't know what's.
Speaker 12 (02:05:02):
Going ON and i said on the show, this week
the ONLY thing i can think of Is that pat
is not One Of arthur, smith's GUYS because i just
don't and, you, know like what do, you mean like
like he just he must either he did something.
Speaker 5 (02:05:15):
TO him i don't know what.
Speaker 12 (02:05:16):
It is but it blows my mind that you're Not
Using pat fryar, with more especially with the lack of
a quote unquote. Number, Two now i'm not trying to
take anything Away From calvin Austin Or roman wilson or
anybody Else But. Pat fryver your tight end can be a.
Number two sometimes he's a number one in. Certain SITUATIONS
so i don't know why he's not getting the ball
more or at. LEAST targeted, i mean what are we
(02:05:37):
doing THE last i mean you look at some games when,
he's targeted you're.
Speaker 1 (02:05:40):
Storing. Touchdowns Yeah ben Roethlisberger Talking steelers Ravens at sunday
one o'clock kickoff AT the M And T. Bank, stadium
ben thanks for making time for. Us, today man we greatly.

on what.
Speaker 5 (02:05:53):
It is it doesn't, get well what, Is? IT mike
i was.
Speaker 1 (02:05:57):
Just, curious no we, Don't smart but who's gonna Be
The penn? State coach. I'm, CURIOUS oh i.
Speaker 5 (02:06:08):
Don't know we'll have the way. To see it seems
like no one wants.
Speaker 1 (02:06:10):
TO go i think That's what crawford left. To do
he's going to go.
Speaker 22 (02:06:14):
Do.
Speaker 1 (02:06:14):
That, yeah hey everyone's.
Speaker 12 (02:06:16):
Throwing their NAME and i had because nobody. Wants to,
Everyone's like I'll take it's like open tryouts for.
Speaker 1 (02:06:21):
A kicker i. NEVER coach i never thought in a
million Years That penn state would have a hard time landing.
A coach honest, TO god i thought that that was
going to be one of the most coveted. Coaching positions
and now it's looking now like their lack of ability
to land someone is actually hurting them to. Land SOMEONE
and i.
Speaker 5 (02:06:40):
Think it's get coaches easier in state.
Speaker 1 (02:06:43):
Right, now, yeah YEAH but i think, it's circumstantial just
because everybody got gassed this year and all the big programs,
Needed coach like there was a lot of big time
jobs out there. This year Speaking, to miami do you
think It Hurts?
Speaker 5 (02:06:57):
Penn state do you think It Hurts?
Speaker 12 (02:06:59):
Pen state though that they made like an ego thing
that they don't want to bring in a guy like
they have, to like quote unquote have.
Speaker 1 (02:07:04):
To have a guy with. A name that's because That's who, I'm, saying.
Speaker 3 (02:07:08):
Like yeah at, SOME point, i know but at some
point you have, to say you, know what.
Speaker 12 (02:07:14):
Let's take a shot with a guy like this or
is that like an ego thing, like No We're, penn
state we can't we have to have a name guy
because right now you don't.
Speaker 9 (02:07:21):
Have anybody if to get an atmosphere that exists now
was the case when you were playing you play it
might be able to hi on a couple. Of years
how much money would you have made to GO to
Usc or oregon or wherever you wanted.
Speaker 5 (02:07:36):
To go i'll tell.
Speaker 12 (02:07:37):

because i wouldn't have Been, in pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (02:07:40):
R exactly, i mean.
Speaker 5 (02:07:44):

and we, say, like, oh well what's some of your
favorite haunts to? Uh visit And uh, THEY'RE like i
just go To. Like chipotle but there should be that
should be a job For the steelers where there's like
a guy who takes them to restaurants that are local
restaurants and not changed coordivating yinser like, an ombudsman you
KNOW what i Mean in pittsburgh that like oversees all of,
(02:09:20):
those situations walks onto. Every film so that's Say say
carnegy Exact. Cart carnage but every time Somebody says i'm,
a inser you're already. Not ayinser yinsers don't even know. They're.
Ginsers yeah and the idea that you Moved to pittsburgh
and that makes you, A inser i think it's disrespectful
to the. ACTUAL yensers i have, great, love, affinity affection
(02:09:42):
and Respect for, yinzer culture but even after having been
here for, THIRTY years i would never consider myself. A
yinser and not everybody Born in pittsburgh is. A yinser
can you tell Me which carrick bar you're? Banned, from
no then.
Speaker 9 (02:09:56):

Speaker 20 (02:10:48):
Sunshine today it's gonna be a high of, thirty three Cloudy,
on saturday high at, thirty six And then, sunday clouds
but we'll see a bit of snow accumulation of accoding
to an inch a high of. Thirty six the playing
surfaces AT every nfl stadium will have to meet new
enhanced standards set through lab and field testing by the
start of the twenty twenty. EIGHT Season Nfl Field Director
(02:11:12):
nick papas detailed the plans for a Program on thursday
that will provide each team a library of approved AND
accredited nfl field before the start of. Next season any
new field will immediately have to meet, those standards and
all teams will have two years to achieve, the standards
whether they use grass or, synthetic surface or A hybrid
(02:11:32):
papa said the fields will have undergone extensive testing and
have been approved by a joint committee WITH. The NFLPA
the nfl has no plans to require natural grass fields across.
The league the league's chief, medical Officer Doctor, alan sill
said there's no statistically significant differences in lower extremity injuries
or concussions that can be attributed to the type of
(02:11:54):
playing surface or a, specific surface despite widespread preferences by
plays for.
Speaker 1 (02:12:00):
GRASS fields, I mean i find that hard. To, believe
same did you SEE The cd lamb concussion? Last night
it was, bad man it's hitting his head off.
Speaker 5 (02:12:10):
The ground.
Speaker 1 (02:12:12):
And that was that Was, in, detroit right that one Was.
In detroit, YET well i mean those are both. Artificial,
turfs yeah he got right in the fencing pose and
his fingers got. ALL whacked, i mean it's it's. Scary
stuff but, you know someone else pointed out recently that
the fact that every player isn't wearing the pro caps
(02:12:33):
that make it like much less likely likely to. Get
concussed the pro.
Speaker 20 (02:12:37):
Caps are the ones where it's like the little like
soft shell almost top of.
Speaker 1 (02:12:40):
The helmet because it, looks stupid, you know it, looks
stupid but also not being able to do math at
some point is. ALSO stupid, i, agree right that was
a bad One From ceedee lamb. Last night and then
on you know Side Story, George pickens, oh wow did
He make steeler fans feel good about that decision last
night as much as everybody's been complaining. About it that's
(02:13:02):
exactly Why the, steelers, were like we got to get
rid of. THIS guy i don't know how you. Do
that your your other star receiver, goes out they're relying.
On you and he didn't even put a half ass
effort into that game, last night, soft routes not even
trying for, battle catches letting a ball drop at. His
feet just amazing lack, of, focus concentration and given F
(02:13:26):
From george pickens last night and the whole You saw
dak screaming at him the whole country, last night was
reminded Why the steelers wanted to get rid, Of him
and all that, BEING said i still wish we would have,
kept HIM as i still love that he was. A,
menace yea sometimes your ex is, a jerk but really.
Speaker 20 (02:13:47):
Good look but it was kind OF like i only
made it through maybe the end of the second quarter
of that game.
Speaker 1 (02:13:53):
LAST night i was starting to, doze OFF and i
JUST knew i for. THE show i had to get.
Speaker 20 (02:13:56):
To bed BUT when i woke UP and i EVEN
saw i think It Was richard sherman was kind of
going off, on off really teeing off. On him it
was kind of nice again As a steelers band to,
be like you, know what didn't glow up for the.
New girlfriend that's that's kind. Of, FUN yeah i mean
it's it's cold, comfort though it.
Speaker 1 (02:14:13):
Really is. You know This was sherman's Take On george pickens.
Last night if you, missed it the big story Here Is.
Speaker 24 (02:14:20):
George Pickens george pickens throughout, the game especially late in,
the game just, looked uninteresting uninterested in.
Speaker 5 (02:14:25):
Playing.
Speaker 1 (02:14:26):
Football uninteresting that's what you can't have if you're.
Speaker 24 (02:14:29):
Going to be, a superstar if you want to be
the best receiver In The National, football league you can ever.
Speaker 1 (02:14:33):
Be disengaged it doesn't matter if the game is going.
Speaker 9 (02:14:35):
Your way i'm not going.
Speaker 24 (02:14:36):
Your way you can't just disappear in. These Games, a
rouse you're not going to, have him and just, right, here, Cruising.
Speaker 1 (02:14:41):
Cruising rouse you're. The guy you're. The guy ceeneelamba's not in.
Speaker 24 (02:14:44):
This game he's out and you get intercept there on your,
slack routes and you can't beat the guy?
Speaker 5 (02:14:50):
In half?
Speaker 1 (02:14:50):
Is It and, i'm sorry that's just.
Speaker 13 (02:14:52):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (02:14:53):
It's unacceptable and if You're In dallas cowboys and you're.
Speaker 24 (02:14:55):
Looking at him and you're looking at them big time
receiver money forty, million dollars you can look at this say, and,
say hey is this a guy who could trust paying
forty million dollars to show up with bonus to.
Speaker 1 (02:15:05):
Circum, states yeah kind of. COOK them i mean that's a.
Speaker 20 (02:15:10):
Mental issue that is NOT something, i mean you, You
HOPE and i know that was Part Of mike, tomlin's
CHALLENGE and i feel like it was pick and who
was speaking to In The hard knocks episode where he,
was saying, you know not today like you want to
you want all, of this, you know you want all of,
these accolades you want to be this, incredible player you want,
the legacy but it's, not today and almost reminding him
(02:15:33):
what you want is something that, you earn but you earn.
Speaker 1 (02:15:36):
It by showing up mentally every day and he just
doesn't have. That, capacity yeah it's messed up because he has. Insane. Talent,
Yeah crazy, all right here's How Badass martha.
Speaker 20 (02:15:49):
Stewart is not even lightning can, kill her and it's
tried apparently. Three times what she has been according to
her struck by lightning thrice and she is still here
to laugh. About it so in a new, podcast interview
she detailed all. Three Strikes here's martha talking. About it
have you ever had a near?
Speaker 1 (02:16:10):
Death? Experience no are? You? Sure YEAH because i read
that you said you were struck? By lightning oh that?
Speaker 5 (02:16:17):
Wasn't?
Speaker 1 (02:16:18):
Fatal weird really struck?
Speaker 22 (02:16:19):
By?
Speaker 1 (02:16:19):
Lightning oh? Three, TIMES yes i saw.
Speaker 25 (02:16:22):
THE lightning i was just looking out the window, washing
dishes and the lightning came zigzagging down to. THE wielcasing
i saw it go down down, the pipe and then
all of a sudden it came out of the faucet
in the water and zapped me right in my.
Speaker 1 (02:16:39):
Stomach and threw me on. The floor are? You? Serious.
Speaker 25 (02:16:41):
Oh yeah and then ANOTHER time i was talking on
the phone in my wistporthouse and THE lightning i saw on,
the phone, you know doing something in, the KITCHEN and
i saw lightning come down the skylight right through the
phone into my ear, and zap, zap zap and another
time in, the garden and IT'S and i always Joke
that i'm attractive.
Speaker 1 (02:17:02):
To lightning, God's like i'm trying.
Speaker 5 (02:17:07):
One that's.
Speaker 7 (02:17:09):
Not, Lightning, no no that is an electrical discharge through some.
Speaker 1 (02:17:16):
Other. Thing, yeah two your eyes can't see your own
ear on. The. Telephone three none of, That Happened.
Speaker 7 (02:17:28):
And i'm not cheering. For that it's way funnier if
all of. THAT happened i don't believe any of that. Actually,
occurred yeah it's kind. Of crazy she's a, LITTLE kookie. I,
think also it's Like, the sopranos like you don't see
the one that.
Speaker 1 (02:17:42):
Gets, You, no no, you, know like oh.
Speaker 7 (02:17:44):
There's, lightning yeah all of those stories involved seeing. Lightning coming,
You don't. You, don't yeah it's Just. Your, YEAH oh
i just have a new idea for a.
Speaker 1 (02:17:56):
LOBSTER big.
Speaker 6 (02:18:00):
I.
Speaker 1 (02:18:00):
Don't know, she's crazy but got that documentary on her was.
SO watchable i couldn't. BELIEVE it i DIDN'T think i
was going to want to watch more than ten minutes,
of it and it was just. So good she was
a smoke show back in.
Speaker 2 (02:18:11):
The.
Speaker 1 (02:18:11):
Day beautiful she's still beautiful because she's like, mid, Seventies,
right yeah she's. A knockout she.
Speaker 20 (02:18:18):
Is absolutely beautiful because it doesn't seem like she tries to,
be beautiful and that is generally what makes somebody.
Speaker 1 (02:18:25):
Very attractive.
Speaker 20 (02:18:29):
She just in that documentary One thing i'll, ask you
because this has, come up especially with this crew. Of people,
you Know The eddie murphy documentary we. Talked about he
clearly was guiding where that. Documentary went but do, you,
THINK yeah i was going to say. THAT one i
don't feel like, she did because she seemed genuinely uncomfortable
(02:18:49):
with some of the topics where she'd, be like we're not,
you know we're done.
Speaker 1 (02:18:52):
With, that. No dude she literally says in that documentary
about her first husband that, she's like, YOU know i
tried and tried, and tried but, you, know finally when
he cheated, ON me i just couldn't take. It anymore
and the, interviewers, like well you cheated on, him, first
right and, she's, like, well yeah but that didn't. Really
COUNT so, i mean you don't include that in your
biography unless you're a, crazy person which she, might be
(02:19:14):
because don't Forget the eagles did have editorial control over,
their Documentary and Glenn fry Ma And don henley both
made them look like enormous. A, holes yes so sometimes
you're just kinda, you know tone death and you don't
realize you're coming. Off poorly so maybe she did have
(02:19:35):
editorial control and she was just kind, of like. We, do,
No no i'm fine.
Speaker 20 (02:19:37):
With, THAT also i just played a clip of her
saying she's been struck by light e, three times so
we could just let. That stand it is Also official
netflix won the bidding war to Buy The Warner Brothers.
Speaker 1 (02:19:48):
Discovery studios, netflix, is uh this, is bad this is
this is. Very bad jean explained to people why this. Is,
Bad well netflix has never figured. Out movies, In short
netflix has a lot of. Good Content some netflix buys some,
good movies and, you know they've certainly FIGURED out tv,
(02:20:12):
show streaming but they haven't figured out what movies, people
want what, movies succeed and they are yet to make
the connection that theatrical movies. Feed them they're not competing with.
Theatrical movies they need the in.
Speaker 7 (02:20:30):
THEATER experience a Lot of hollywood, big wigs, you know
signed an open letter earlier this week, that said we
can't let.
Speaker 1 (02:20:38):
This happen they're.
Speaker 7 (02:20:40):
Disincentivized to support traditional movie making and. Movie theaters it's
actually to their advantage if people, stay home right and
if that comes, to completion if that mission, is complete
you don't have the content anymore that people want.
Speaker 1 (02:20:57):
To watch so.
Speaker 7 (02:20:58):
They just bought their competition and shut. It, down basically
they still shut. It down they say that they are
committed To Keeping warner brothers movies. In theaters that sounds
like a nice thing to say. Right now they do
a lot of. Good stuff i'm about to give a
good review Of a, netflix movie but they haven't fully
figured out the movie, business yet and they're buying, a
(02:21:19):
giant historic chunk of the.

Bridgeville appliance it Is the steelers At the Ravens on Sunday.
In baltimore two teams vying for first place IN The Afc.
North division they may both be six, and six but
somebody's got to. Win, it yeah and this is an incredibly,
significant game but that doesn't seem to be the focus,
this week at least Here, in pittsburgh Where the natives
(02:22:59):
are wrestler us to the extent that they're not thinking
about first place they are. Calling for Head Coach mike
tomlin's head Offensive Coordinator arthur smith is also feeling, the
heat and while he may not, appreciate it he knows
it's part of.
Speaker 5 (02:23:13):
The deal.
Speaker 18 (02:23:15):
This isn't this isn't the business for the for, the meek.
ESPECIALLY mentally, i MEAN like, I said i roll my
eyes when people have like. A victim i mean a
lot of ways to look, at it, BUT no i
mean our job is. To win you step in, this
arena that's part Of the that's part of, the job
whether you like it. Or not, he said you better check.
(02:23:36):
Your mentality, you know we're in the entertainment sports. Entertainment
business it's a, high pressure high, performance business and it's
competitive and your job is to win. And produce, if
anything you know been those experience in life and just
have a perspective. And humility you don't get caught up into,
that again they're just it's. LIKE everything, i mean you've
(02:23:58):
become a, play caller, head coach a quarterback in. This
league it's teezy standing everythings are, going good but you're
going to find out about yourself when. Things aren't and
that's What you that's the true test if any leadership
or this position.
Speaker 1 (02:24:10):
And a lot OF way i found over the years
is kind of freeing the terms.
Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
Of flights you're trying to do the best job.
Speaker 1 (02:24:16):
You can you know what the expectations are and we
got to. Produce, Right yeah he's been on a couple sides.
Speaker 9 (02:24:24):
Of this he used to be the head Coach in
atlanta and they were called for his head down there
and they eventually got it.
Speaker 5 (02:24:31):
When or this is.
Speaker 1 (02:24:32):
What happens this is the life. You, choose yeah this Is.
Speaker 9 (02:24:36):
The uh there's nothing but guys who are eventually going
to get fired in.
Speaker 1 (02:24:39):
The room. You know you know this going and it never,
feels good but to be asked about it constantly you
have to have the. Right RESPONSE and i will, say
This Both mike Tomlin And arthur smith handled it the
right way.
Speaker 13 (02:24:54):
This.
Speaker 9 (02:24:54):
Week yeah AND when i say eventually, GET fired i
mean coaches are hired to be fired.
Speaker 1 (02:24:58):
In, general yeah but it is the hymen, roth right
this is the life. We CHOOSE.
Speaker 5 (02:25:05):
Did i? Get?
Speaker 9 (02:25:06):
Mad no, You Know, paul newman there's still murders in, the.
Room Right, AARON rodgers i think is handling it pretty
well this week. As well you might recall us several
years ago he told Everybody In green bay, to relax
and he spelled it out just to make sure everybody
understood what he. Was emphasizing often not to play. That
(02:25:28):
card this week Is the steelers get ready for a day.
Of reckoning.
Speaker 27 (02:25:34):
So it's just feeling the pulse of. THE team i
don't feel like this team has a freak out or
a panic THAT that i need to like send the
message out to the to the zeitgeist that everybody needs
to just relax a. Little bit and we've been playing in,
consistent football that's. For sure we've got to. Play BETTER
but i have confidence in leadership of. THE team i
have confidence in my guys and that we're going to
(02:25:56):
put a better performance in the field.
Speaker 1 (02:25:57):
This WEEKEND now i completely CONCEDE that i might be reading,
this WRONG but i want my quarterback going Into the
ravens game talking up the game and the rivalry and,
the intensity and everybody's on the same page and they
understand how important this is. Right now and we've got
(02:26:19):
some things to fix because we've, been inconsistent but we're
working to do that, this week and we're, working hard
like some sort OF like i don't want him to
be laid back going Into the.
Speaker 9 (02:26:28):
Ravens game That's all. I'm saying two things. ABOUT that
i get where you're coming from. On that one He's,
FROM california i. Don't care and two is he's not
Played the. RAVENS yet i know you don't belief about.
THE rivalry, i know but read, the ROOM and i
think he might be reading the room and that he
thinks if he puts pressure on, these guys they're going to,
get worse. Not, better well then that's, no good particularly
(02:26:51):
the younger GUYS like i Talked to John and smith.
This week, You know rogers mentioned that they called. Him,
out Yeah and smith did not take. It that, HE
said i don't think he trying to be a. LITTLE
me i made, a mistake and, you, know, yeah whatever we.
Speaker 1 (02:27:04):
MOVE on, i mean he's a nine.
Speaker 9 (02:27:05):
Year vet he's been down this road one hundred times
he knows what's. Going on maybe A roma wilson doesn't
need a kick in the ass, Right now maybe he
needs a pad on.
Speaker 1 (02:27:13):
The back i'm, just SPECULATING and i guess if you TALK. To,
tj watt he probably has that Intensity that i'm. Looking
for but you'll probably hear some of that today when
he does. His thing practice Reports No lamar Jackson in baltimore.
Yesterday ankle he was downgraded from limited to did. NOT
participate i don't think for a second he's not gonna.
Keep playing but the weird, thing is he's had a
(02:27:37):
litany of health issues. This year everybody that watches him
play says. Something's wrong he's not. The same his passing
has has reverted to the. Wildly INACCURATE his epa is. Way,
DOWN oh i. Have that.
Speaker 9 (02:27:52):
But the funny, part is if he's injured and it's affecting,
his accuracy it's not affecting his running because he was Nimble.
Against cincinnati he has, just chosen for, whatever reason not
to run the ball nearly as often as he has in.
The past maybe that's to. Stay healthy maybe it's some
kind of malady that affects. His passing but not. HIS
(02:28:13):
running i don't know what's, going on but he has
NOT Been Mvp lamar jackson.
Speaker 1 (02:28:17):
This, Year NO and i was telling you about that
one stat about how he used to lead the league
in making guys miss and this year he is like
zero percent. On, that well that makes sense if he
doesn't have the flexibility that he had because of.
Speaker 9 (02:28:32):
The injury they also used to be the best red
zone team in the league and now they're one of.
The worst, And Coincidentally lamar jackson has one. Rushing touchdown
he got it in. The opener he hasn't had. One
since that is a remarkable stat. To, me yeah he
hasn't throught a touchdown passing. Three games This Is andrew
ciliono tweeted. This Out lamar jackson has not forced a
(02:28:54):
single missed tackle on any of his twenty designed runs,
this Year Per Next, gen stats and led all quarterbacks
with one hundred and four over the first seven years of.
Speaker 1 (02:29:04):
His career. It's Interesting now.
Speaker 9 (02:29:07):
I'm a little skeptical on stuff like that because who
gets to decide if it's a mistackle.
Speaker 1 (02:29:12):
OR not, i understand but it does at least give you.
A sense but it shows where he was and, YOU
know i Was at Bengels game. Thanksgiving Night.
Speaker 9 (02:29:24):
Jason Garrett And mike turko were on, the CALL and
i was waiting for the bob yucker just a bit.
Speaker 1 (02:29:29):
Outside right he, wasn't missing he was missing by.
Speaker 9 (02:29:32):
A mile his completions were not what they should have
been because guys were having to stop and lean.
Speaker 1 (02:29:40):
And jump and with all of this indicates one thing
that that ankle is. Messed up but he's, running well
he's just not. Doing it what direction is? He running
taped up? Straight? Ahead eh he had. Some scrambles is?
HE cutting i don't think it's that.
Speaker 9 (02:29:56):
All right he had a couple of readoption keeps where
he got around the end when he needed. FIRST down
i think he's, gonna PLAY and i THINK he's i
know he's, gonna PLAY and i think he's gonna Run. Against,
Pittsburgh okay i'm going For a kyle dugger INTERCEPTION anytime
i am. Te, there well stay Tuned On kyle duggar
because he was did not. Participate yesterday i'm gonna take. That, Back,
WELL samuel i think almost all these guys on both
(02:30:19):
sides are going to play if.
Speaker 1 (02:30:20):
They're breathing m just, you know to what degree are?
They impact all these Names that i'm saying On the
steelers side are all guys who have not played in this. Game, Before,
Sante Samuel, Kyle Duggar, AARON Rodgers dk Metcalf. Staling rins Speaking,
Of samuel pierre was back to.
Speaker 9 (02:30:37):
Full participation imagine he gets out of the concussion protocol
though you don't know how he. Responded overnight if there
were anything anything associated with the concussion, THAT reappeared i.
Speaker 1 (02:30:49):
Don't know and how about how things have Evolved where
i'm Going Good james pierre, Is playing.
Speaker 9 (02:30:53):
It's, PLAYED well, i KNOW and i think you know he's,
a big. BIGGER corner i think you need that in.
This game it's, you know this is the old double,
chin strap extra. Weightlifting Sessions. Steelers ravens we all know.
Speaker 1 (02:31:07):
What's Coming chunk collier with a review of the latest

you can never predict where an actor's career, is headed especially.
Early on let me give you a few quotes from
the early Work Of. Adam sandler i'm not gonna. IMITATE it,
I can't i can't do his way was just consider
the verbiachie right. Like that he broke through by appearing
(02:34:22):
on the big screen and saying sentences like so hot
want to touch, the heinie Sentences like mama says that
alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth but,
no toothbrushes or my favorite from eight, crazy nights showing
my big white scary moon and blowing a beef.
Speaker 1 (02:34:40):
Your way this is how he.
Speaker 7 (02:34:43):
Made his name and now In, j kelly not only
does he give a perfect, heartbreaking performance, he should in,
my view Get the OSCAR for.
Speaker 1 (02:34:56):
I what that's where.
Speaker 7 (02:34:59):
IT is i sent my critics' choice ballot the. OTHER
day I Have adam sandler number one And Best. Supporting
actor if you look at, the odds the, latest odds
he's the last one out or the first, ONE out
i should say For an, oscar nomination but The other

del toro In, One Battle jacob Lordi.
Speaker 1 (02:35:22):
AND frankenstein i think he's better than all. OF those
I Love one battle Man you Chalamys shall.
Speaker 20 (02:35:31):
Chalamy said that he should have been a little bit
more hailed for a punch.
Speaker 1 (02:35:37):
Drunk, love yes there's a couple of times throughout his
career that he showed like. He's evolving this is where.
Speaker 7 (02:35:44):
It's complete the movie Is About, george clooney who's playing
A Very george clooney esque actor who's kind of going
through a breakdown crisis and he goes on this. Impulsive
journey sandler's his manager who is tearing his own life
apart to try to keep.
Speaker 1 (02:35:59):

Quick movie it's like ninety.
Speaker 7 (02:40:15):

EVEN though i, watched it AND then i watched the
like hour plus of deleted scenes that they, finally found which.
ARE hilarious i can't imagine cutting out and where are those?
On YouTube or you gotta buy the FANCY four. K edition,
oh okay there's A great one of the best moments
(02:40:35):
of Physical comedy i've ever seen is just in the.
Deleted scenes he's eating a chili dog and smoking a
cigarette at the, same time and just as he inhales takes,
a bite choose while the smoke is coming out of
his mouth and then drips beans onto. His shirt is
one of the Funniest things i've. Ever seen how did
it not make? THE movie I Think john hughes was
(02:40:57):
so desperate to keep. It, tight yeah and that's probably for,
The BENEFIT but i can't imagine choosing what to cut
from playing strains.
