Speaker 1 (00:07):
Okay, Like I said, I got kind of a listing
going about the Steelers in green Bay game Sunday night
and acres. Sure if the Steelers are gonna win. Here's
the three guys who got to make the most difference.
Number three Derek Harmon, the rookie defensive lineman. That's unfair
because he's only a rookie. But the Steelers can't stop

(00:30):
the run. That's his job, and they're playing against Josh Jacobs.
Number two TJ. Watt, simple formula. You make the most,
so do the most. And Number one Aaron Rodgers. Duh,
this is a revenge game against green Bay, no matter

(00:52):
what Rogers says. And after six games, Aaron Rodgers is
the only Steeler that can truly be on and on.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
In that vein, Who are.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
The three most disappointing Steelers so far this season? Number
three all the tight ends. This offense was supposed to
be built around the tight ends. It was supposed to
be sophisticated in that regard. It ain't John who is invisible.
Friar moved to except for last week in Cincinnati and

(01:24):
Washington is just big and mostly a blocker. You love
him because you can call him out Washington. He has
a cool nickname. Actually it's not that cool, but you
think it is and that's why you like him. I
think he's a ham and anger. I think he's big
and not much else. Number two DK Metcalf He's been okay,

(01:45):
but not the game breaker we anticipated, which really ain't
his fault.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
And number one TJ Watt. You make the most, so
do the most. What ain'ts His.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Backup is playing better, Nick herbig. Think about that, tjy.
Its backup is not playing him. This is the Mark
Madden Show. You can call now four one two three
three three WXDX or follow me on Twitter at Mark
Madden X. As far as most disappointing Steelers, I could
say Jalen Ramsey.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
He's kind of washed and can't really do anything well
but play the slot. He's not a man to man
cover guy no more, and that's not his fault. We
all overestimated him. There were some good early returns, but
I think he's being asked to do too much against
guys he can't handle no more.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Exhibit A Jamar Chase.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Jayalen Ramsey had no chance whatsoever against Jamar Chase, a
guy who used to be against a guy who is
there was only ever gonna be one winner there. Slay's
washed too, Porter He's been incredibly disappointing. The whole damn defense, really,
but some guys are playing okay. So here's the top

(03:02):
three Steelers who have played in encouraging fashion. Number three,
the whole offensive line. It started bad, it's getting better.
I mean, you got Washington, he's big. He helps a
tight end with the O line using seven offensive lineman
with Spencer Anderson is the extra that's helped too.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
But Jones and Fucktanu don't stink lately.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And I hate to set the bar there because it's
every little boy's dream to get to the NFL and
not stink. But they don't stink, and they used to stink.
That's encouraging. Number two Jalen Warren. He looks a bit
more like a number one back, which I didn't think
he could be part near, but not plumb.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
He's doing okay.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
And number one Nick Carbeck leads the team in sacks
with four and a half, lots of pressure whenever in there,
and he's a backup and didn't play at the end
against Cincinnati when his pass rush could have won the game.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Great coaching, guys.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
You know, I might have said, in terms of encouraging,
I might have said, Patrick Queen, queen, don't suck like
he used to. And on that defense, not sucking his
really valuable currency. In any list of bad, in fact,

(04:30):
you need a whole separate list of bad to include
how bad the Steelers coaching has been. The coaching is
just horrifically awful. The coaching is horrible. It's terrible. Look
at that defense against Cincinnati, which came out crappy, never

(04:51):
adjusted and just kept failing in the same way. Look
at like we said the end of the game, Flacka
gotta throw to catch up the guy who's been rushing
the passer. The best Nick Herbig was not on the field.
That's just horrific coaching. That's coaching by rote, that's just

(05:12):
doing Okay, this is how we do it, so we're
gonna keep doing it that way, even if the way
we do it is getting our ass kicked. It's the
Steeler way. Do the same thing and get your ass kicked.
I know the usual suspects are picking green Bay to win.
I know that, I see it, I hear it. That's foolish.

(05:35):
How can you not pick Green Bay to win on
Sunday Night? The reasons I hear from people who are
picking the Steelers aren't like, well, the defense can't possibly
play that bat again, really you want to bet? Or
they say Rogers will find a way, or quite laughably,

(05:57):
Tomlin will find a way. That's sort of absolute fiction.
It is really time to take coaching and management and
ownership to task if the Steelers lose the Green Bay
and go from four and one to four and three
and right back to the mushy middle. But then again,

(06:21):
there's been plenty of occasion to take coaching, management and
ownership to task for the last eight or ten years,
and you don't, and you won't, and they won't be introspective,
and Tomlin can coach as long as he wants, and

(06:41):
the bean counter will be the GM as long as
he wants, and the Roonies own the team.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I always, and I've said this.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Before, and this is an indigenous to the Roonies, I
always laugh when we assume that because somebody is part
of a family that's been successful at something, that the
next generations will be successful just because they had the
same last name. I just I don't, I mean it's
just not true. It's just not true. At a great

(07:14):
time last night at Sharky's Latrobe, great watch party. My
watch parties are packed and very enthusiastic. Same kind of crowd.
Will be there at Celebration Sunday night in Imperial for
the Steeler game. Then Tuesday night at Archie's six pm
for the Penguins Flyers game on the South Side. So
do join me at at a watch party. I said,

(07:39):
a watch party tonight for World Series Game one, except
I won't be watching. I'll be at the North Hills
High School football game. Oh here, here's a baseball note.
The Pirates director of amateur scouting was just tired away
by the Washington Nationals to be the Nats assistant GM.

(08:03):
I mean, I couldn't pick this guy out of a
police lineup. But I mean the Pirates, I mean they're
they're drafting and developing as it worked. I mean, you know,
with schemes. I guess, but that was full proof. Connor Griffin,
I guess, but but that was full proof. Bubba Chamber.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Maybe they're doing better than we thought, But then again,
Henry Davis. But the point is, I never thought somebody
in Pirates' baseball ops would be considered valuable enough to
ore away by another organization and get a better job,
which leads me to believe this kid, whatever's name is,

(08:39):
Mordaway should replace Sherrington.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Could we get him back? I mean, I don't care
if the Pirates stick. He's good.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
If another team thinks he's good, that's more validation than
the Pirates sticket he's good?

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Could ever provide?

Speaker 4 (08:52):
All Right?

Speaker 1 (08:52):
You can get your calls in now. If you're picking
the Steelers, tell me why. I'd love to take some
calls in that regard eight three three four one two wxdx.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
If you're picking the Steelers, tell me why.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Accept If your reasoning is well, the defense can't possibly
play that bad again, or Rogers will find a way,
or tom One will find a way.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Do better. I think the big key is Will Howard
is back practicing five ninety X. The Spirits Summer New

Speaker 5 (09:56):

sponsored my Disaster Restoration Services will see you October.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
iHeartRadio and now the super genius Mark Madden, the cream.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Comes to the top. I feel like I'm just bubbling open.
You have a pan player on the air, because I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Who told you the ex At one, We've got Brent
Michaels of Poison and Butler pa at the bottom of
the hour. He's performing at halftime of the Steelers in
green Bay on Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
As I just said earlier, I'm picking green Bay to win.
I don't know how you can't.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
The Steelers gotta score thirty thirty five points to win
the game because their defense is so bad. That's a
bad defense. It's not trending bad, it's not might be bad.
The sample size is big enough now dating back beyond
this season, even that that's a bad defense and they
clearly made mistakes. Uh well, Heyward really didn't get nothing
but the Oakie dope. But extending what at that price

(10:59):
was a miss, just an absolute mistake. Trading Fitzpatrick for Ramsey.
I don't know if it was a mistake because Mika
hadn't played well in Pittsburgh for the last couple of years.
But Ramsey's just just washed for anything but being a
slot corner. He cannot cover a Jamar Chase man to man,
as we found out in quite obvious fashion when Cincinnati

(11:23):
beat the Steelers a week ago yesterday. So if you're
picking the Steelers, tell me why. I'd be really intrigued
to hear why. I really would be because I don't
see any way to pick the Steelers. And as we know,
in the crazy world of today's NFL, you know the
team that nobody picks is is liable to win. But
in this case, I don't think so. So your thoughts

(11:44):
at eight three to three, four one two WXDX Penguins
are a great story so far six and two tied
for the most points in the East.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Can they sustain it?

Speaker 1 (11:54):
I don't know about that, but this is kind of fun,
even though it distances them from Gavin McKenna in next
year's draft lottery. But here's Sidney Crosby after last night's
win at Florida.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
Yeah, I thought we you know, we got some timely
goals when when they scored, we were able to bounce
back and two points.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
That's big.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
You know, when teams get momentum like that and they score,
we got to be able to respond, and we did
a good job with that, you know a few times,
so you.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Know, hopefully we can carry the play a little bit more.

Speaker 6 (12:25):
But did a good job defending. And obviously, like I said,
Jargs was was really really good and bailed us out
of a lot of mistakes.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Have we made Jars what sid said, It's way true.
I kept expecting the Penguins to blow it.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
They didn't. I kept expecting Kristin Jarr to blow it,
and he did. Full credit to Jars.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
But when Florida scored to make it three to two,
Pittsburgh scored two and a half minutes later Connor Doer.
When Florida scored to make it four three, sid scored
forty three seconds later. I'm not sure the Penguins are
a good team, but that's what good teams do. They
respond favorably to adversity and quickly the Penguins give this

(13:10):
hard hat a construction helmet. They give it to the
player of the game after every game. Sid got it
and there was a picture of him wearing the helmets
on Twitter and he looked like one of the village people.
I kept looking for the biker and the Native American
and the sailor and the cowboy. The World Series starts tonight,

(13:33):
Game one, Los Angeles at Toronto. I think the Dodgers
are going to win four or five games. I think
they're pitching they're starting pitching is just overwhelming. Blake Snell
going for LA tonight and LA is going against the
general grain of baseball and let their starters pitch deep

(13:54):
because their bullpenn ain't as good.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
And this is the time of the year to do that.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
If you if you go eight innings a couple times
in the World Series and to win the World Series,
you have all off season to rest up for spring training.
That's why I laughed when Detroit in that elimination game
Game five in their Division series, the Tigers Scooball was
lights out for six innings.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
His last pitch struck out.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
The big Dumper, the catcher for Seattle, and it was
one hundred and one miles per hour and they took
him out. Why to save him for spring training. I
didn't get that at all. Cal Raley, I froze on
the big dumpers name. For second, I was thinking of
Cal Mountain Junior from the movie Talladega Knights. So I

(14:47):
like the Dodgers and I like them to win relatively quickly.
You know what I hate about the World Series? Well,
for one thing, it's baseball. The other is all the
games at night now be so cool back when when
the World Series games were during the day when I
was a kid, And when I was a kid, most

(15:07):
of the games the regular season were at night, but
the postseason was during the day, and you got if
the Pirates were in it, like in seventy one, we
got to watch it in the classroom at school. I
have really fond memories of that, even fonder of I
attended the first night game in World Series history, nineteen
seventy one, Baltimore at Pittsburgh three of a stadium. Pirates win,

(15:29):
Bruce Keason with just a great stint of relief and
Milt May, a rookie, with the pinchhit game winning single
to rally the Pirates will come from behind win. But
I think the night games for the World Series, I mean,
if you split them fifty to fifty, that'll be all right.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
The last day.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Game in the World Series was nineteen eighty seven indoors
of Minnesota. The last day game outdoors in the World
Series nineteen eighty four, Detroit. I know it's for advertising
and teav ratings, and that's all the more reason it sucks.
Brett Michael's up next, one O five to nine, The X.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
One O five to nine, The X has your shot
at tags drop cash.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
You'll keep money like that a secret.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Blue Choos. I'm Rich, Rich, Rich, Jimmy listen all day
for your chance. Has some extra cash on one oh five.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Nine the X.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
This is Doug Gottlieb. Here's what's trending from the Iheartsports Network,
Isn't It? By Joe Ball GMC.

Speaker 8 (16:30):
The defending World Series champion Dodgers are set to begin
their quest to repeat tonight, and they take on the
Blue Jays.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Game one is in Toronto. Penguins defenseman Caleb Jones.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
He's being checked out for an apparent lower body injury
he suffered that during last night's win over Florida. And
over to college football, which rolls on tomorrow with Pitt
hosting NC State.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
It'll be West Virginia entertaining TCU.

Speaker 8 (16:51):
Dukane visits Wagner Penn States on their buy I'm Scott Davidson.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
It's Joe Ball gmc spoot, ocular Seals.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
See best frontman in Raw. He's performing at halftime of
the Steeler game on Sunday Night from Poison, the Brett
Michaels Band, and of course Butler Pa. It's a pleasure
to speak to Brett Michaels. Brett, I mean, wow, halftime
of the Steeler game. I know how much that means
to you as a Steeler fan.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
You have no idea. First of all, Mark my brothers,
you know what you are.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
Go ahead, Mark the awesome like a viking coming to
slay all around him for stillerness, that's what we're doing.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
I am so far. Hey, there's my alarm to call you.
I'm only five minutes late with it.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Well, how does come about? What's the setup gonna be?
How many songs?

Speaker 2 (17:40):
And this is your usual great solo band? Correct?

Speaker 7 (17:43):
Absolutely, so, here's here's a couple of things going on.
I'll make it so everyone has a clear understanding. We've
been talking about this because it's called Forged in Pittsburgh,
the Origins game, right, and they wanted a performing that
is a party, and so I have nothing but a

(18:04):
good time, and I went with the solo band, recorded
a completely in the studio at live track because as
you know, I'm a live lead singer. I like live
music and I'm gonna do what I did like on
the Masked Singer. It's gonna be a live track and
then I'm going vocal live, so the stage because of

(18:25):
the timing and everything else that's going on, the Steelers
have an unbelievable hometown heroes gonna be surrounding it. And
then we're filming everything, so you gotta tell everybody, or
we're gonna tell everyone. Get those terrible towels at halftime
will be on the plaza. They're filming the whole thing
with the towels going singing, nothing but a good time,

(18:47):
and it's going to be an absolute party and it's
going to be incredible.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
It sounds fantastic, and like you said, it's an Origins game.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
They got the old timey Steeler uniforms, so it's gonna
be a fantastic time. And you're a big Steeler fan, Brett,
I know you watch every game religiously.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
What do you make to the team so far at
four and two?

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Now? Wait, are you ready? Remember I took a little
grief from this. I'm just saying. I'm friends with Mike,
his son Mason.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
As you wrote, when we played out at Starlake, we
all went out, introduced the party, grawl together.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
You you killed it, got everyone fired up. We do
this a lot.

Speaker 7 (19:22):
I'm a Steelers die hard, right, I live and breathe
and I believe.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
I'm a believer. And Aaron is great.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
I think he again, Hall of Fame quarterback. Everyone, you know,
everyone's allowed their opinion. But again, I just want to
say we I think we look great. We're making up
for where there might be a couple gings and bangs,
and I think we're gonna make up for the loss
last week.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
I really do. I think we're gonna come on that field.

Speaker 7 (19:49):
There's obviously gonna be a little bit of what we'll
call football tension, you know, but we're playing in the Burg,
and the Burg we're gonna We're gonna amp it up.
It's gonna be live and amplified. That's that's what we're
gonna bring. And like I said, we all just got
to believe. And Mike is a great coach.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
And a friend. I need to you know, I need
to full disclosure, a buddy, you know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
We're born on the same day, March fifteenth, right, so
I feel I feel we're gonna do really good and
I gotta believe that we're gonna see the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Well, you're right on the money about Rogers. I think
he's been the best thing about them so far. And
I said earlier, Brett, it's kind of like Kevin Brent
Michaels as your front man. I think you're the Aaron
Rodgers a rock and roll.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
It just made my day.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Why why you want to make me cry on this interview?
You're gonna make me tears of joy. I know what
you're trying to do.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
But you know me.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
You know me too well for too long.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
I know you're too well too long. And we we
have been through a lot together. We're like brothers, and
we the one thing I gotta say, the origins of it.
I'm gonna say something I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Really sincere for a minute.

Speaker 7 (21:01):
I was out after one of the training camp practices
and my buddy Jay Glazers with me and Mike and
Mason and a whole bunch of friends, right, and we
were setting up there and we're having let's just say
a few adult beverages, right, and of course how cover
j and Mike they had none, of course, you know

(21:22):
what I mean, Uh, just myself, I'm lying, but yes.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
So having said that, I got emotional for.

Speaker 7 (21:28):
A minute because my whole family born and raised in
the area. My dad worked at ARMCOA Steele and was
a veteran. And I said, as I'm going to say
to you, football sports met so much to us in
the city. And I got a little emotional with Mike.
We had a really bonding moment. I said, when you
bring that to the city, you're you're all ships rise.

(21:52):
You brought this excitement, you brought this this love of
the game, and when it wins, the city wins. And
I said, you know, no pressure, of course, no pressure,
but I said, no pressure to win, but I'm just
throwing it on the table here. And it was a
very emotional moment because as a family, we we would
live for this it. It just brought everything up in

(22:15):
the city, the awareness, it brought jobs, it just it's
it's hard to explain, but I mean all the great
sports in Pittsburgh, this origin.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Game of all games. I asked to be able to
do this.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
This is the one I wanted to do, and it's
it's gonna be I'm gonna give it everything I can
and we're filming almost the entire day, a bunch of
different things.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
It's going to be great.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Now beyond the game Sunday, Brett, what do you got
going on? Because we hear about maybe a Poison tour
in twenty twenty six. You got your party, You've got
your great solo man. What's on the agenda?

Speaker 4 (22:48):
So a couple of things. We finished out the year
with all sold out shows. It's great.

Speaker 7 (22:53):
And twenty six is going to be the Brett Michaels
band doing live and amplified. We got a lot of these,
you know, the the theater shows with our friends Tesla.
Twenty seven is going to be looks like twenty seven
will be the Poison reunion and it is going to
be incredible. They're they're my family as well, and I
wouldn't be here without them. But as you know what

(23:14):
the Brett Michaels band we it's one thousand percent on
that stage.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
It is.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
It's a great band, great thank you, and we're and
just like Poison, I can't do it unless they're friends.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I cannot go through the motions.

Speaker 7 (23:27):
I as a kid raised in the Butler area and
I'm talking about Route eight going down.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
I'll say it right, Zanoadis right.

Speaker 7 (23:36):
We overemphasize the owen there somewhere, but going down Zanoadis,
I got to get my first YZ eighty buying a
bunch of dirt bikes and just you know, uh arm
Castile was right there along Route eight where my whole
family worked, and we're just excited again. I go back
to this Poison has that Pennsylvania blood, that Western Pa

(23:58):
and along with the Brett Michael's band, and we're just
going to bring a party.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Now.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
I love the party, girl. I love the guest singers.
You've had d Snyder, Lou Graham, Don Felder, Sugar Ray.
It's all hits all the time. Now, is that on
the agenda to bring some guys along like that?

Speaker 7 (24:13):
Absolutely that it'll be the same thing. And that's why
I said it's become Brett Michaels and Friends. I know,
a bunch of my friends from Pittsburgh came down to
Ocean City. But we kicked off this new festival called
Boardwalk Rock and it's the Brett Michaels and Friends had.
Every band came up, they joined me and it was

(24:33):
sixty thousand tickets sold out in like two days, and
it was just crazy. But also, let me give full credit.
You know, you've got Rob Zombie, You've got def Leppard, you.
I mean, it was a lot of great, great musicians.
But we're gonna do the same thing and continue that party.
Grawl Marti, gral vibe, uh, you know, all inclusive, come

(24:54):
out and have nothing but a good time.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
And that's what we're doing at halftime. It's nothing but
a good time for six minutes of awesome.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Now, how do you keep going? Brett?

Speaker 1 (25:04):
You look great, you sound great. You're like the last
man standing from the Sunset Strip Rockers. I mean there's
some still around, but you're it's like you turn back time.
First of all, thank you, but I got to give
you my secret. It's the water. It's the water three
rivers mixed with good cologne. It works every sixty percent.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Of the time. It works every time.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Heye one thing before before we wrap up a sad note.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
We lost as freely recently you eulogized him on Twitter
that ain't everyone in rock hard didn't it because let's
let's be honest, Brett, we were all Kiss.

Speaker 7 (25:38):

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
