Speaker 1 (00:08):
We'll get your calls in now, because this segment and
the next segment are wide open. Eight three three four
one two ninety nine thirty nine eight three three four
one two ninety nine thirty nine. Are you feeling me
with this Kevin mark Wood thing? Dude fell out of
the stands for no good reason. Wasn't pushed, conquered the

(00:32):
possibility being paralyzed, got made into a victim, got made
to a hero, and now he's been charged with uh,
nighttime prowling, which sounds to me like what they call
stocking these days. Tried to force his way into his
ex girlfriend's abode. He fell out of the stands because well,

(00:58):
not because of any of you. That wasn't his fault.
They should just said hope he gets well, thanks for
coming to the game. Instead they made him a hero.
They made him a hero because he was either drunk
or clumsy or stupid and did something dumb. But they
made him into a hero. The pirates made him into
a hero. A bunch of you dinks out there made
distinc into a hero.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Just stupid.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
We're just so stupid these days, so freaking stupid, and
we glamorized the stupid. We go after intellectuals. Now, this guy,
this guy, oh, this guy, what an idiot?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Anyway, that number eight three three four one two w xdx.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Let's go down to our good friend. He's on the
road again. He is the Hebrew hammer hammer yak shamash.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Eick shamash. Hey, thanks for getting me and Mark Hey,
this Mark Wood character. Now, my question is, and we
live in this regigious society. I figured that guy would
have sued the pirates. But my question to you is
did he waive his legal rights? Like if did they
settle with him and say did you can throw out

(02:10):
the first pitch and then you can have like batting gloves.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I don't know, But why could he sue?

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Well, I mean like people in society, I mean like
every commercial on the radio is for a lawyer, so
there's a lot of reasons to sue. So I just
figure when things like that happened, people will sue. And
I didn't know if he took like a deal from
the pirates like Kramer, like when he settled for a
cafe lattes.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Right just for free, he took like a bad deal. Yeah, no,
I'm that's right. Well, it is a betigious society. I
think that.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
You know, if he were thinking straight, he would have,
you know, engaged Shandroova, Shandrovitch and fishermen. Because I don't
know if you heard this. They charged twenty five percent,
the others charged forty. But I just don't see what
he could have sued him for because people sit in
those right stands all the time and don't fall out
and land on the field neck first.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
But do you think there is a do you think
there's some kind of parallel to him being a prowler
and then falling out of the seats.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I don't see what connection you could draw there. Please elaborate.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Well, I just didn't know. I mean maybe not many
prowlers sit in the right field seats and then that's
why they stay seated.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
See, you're usually funny, but now you try to stretch it.
You get that, don't you?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Hey, you tore it sometimes.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Mark.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Now let me ask you this.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Do you think this Kevin Mark would do you think
he sees himself as a hero?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Do you think he sees himself as a victim? How
do you think he sees himself?

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Because it's amazing, not only do we make these adults
and this guy is adult, not only would he make
adults and the heroes today they convinced themselves that it
was done righteously. Like if he was in on his
own joke, I would respect that a lot more.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Well, you know what my under standing, he's from Glassport,
and when you drive through Glassport it says welcome to
glass Port. Hum of Kevin Mark Wooden.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
That's just not true, but that's your cue.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Thanks you much.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Where me I heard.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
The sign when you enter Glassport says abandoned hope all
you who enter here. Uh eight three, three, four one
two thirty nine is the number to call. Don't forget
Red Beach playing at Jurgles tonight. White sneak and winger
guitar player Peng wasn't home for their final exhibition game. Uh,

(04:35):
this looks like a dress rehearsal. It traditionally is a
dress rehearsal for the first regular season game, which is
Tuesday at the New York Rangers. But uh, the roster
I saw for tonight's game had like twenty six people
on and they're not all playing and certainly not all
dressing for the game at New York because you can't
what is it eighteen and two goalies I think that's

(04:56):
the official roster size.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I'd like to see Avery Hayes, our guest from a
bit of goat who provides so much energy, a little
bit of a rack to him, as he admitted, I'd
like to see him make the team. I don't think
he's gonna but I think he'll be back up here
before too long. I think when you're rebuilding, there's gonna
be a constant back and forth players in Pittsburgh players

(05:23):
in Wilkes.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
I think you'll see veterans get waved.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
We already saw Danton Heinen got waved yesterday and got
sent to Wilkes. I think you might see some more
of that as early as the final cuts, and I
think certainly during the season. Jonathan Bomboli made a good point.
He said, if Tristan Jari plays poorly, he might get
waved again and go to Wilkes again. Although I do

(05:49):
give Joy credit. He buckled down and played much better
after coming back from Wilks last year, but that was
a very short sample. As I keep saying about Jarry,
I think he's very talented. I just think he has
very little focus, as betrayed by his lack of consistency
what's good to Mark?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Mark, You're on? No, Eric, I mean Eric, you're on?

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Eric?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Are you there?

Speaker 5 (06:17):
Yeah, I'm here.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
I just wanted to make a comment on the guy
falling out of the right field that was literally of
the saying that the Pirates brought that guy on, Like,
give me a break. This is just par for the
course for the Pirates, right, I.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Think it's par for the course for society.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Eric.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I think we take dipsticks who do damage to themselves
and make them the victims all the time.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
I agree with that. And the whole Savannah Bananas.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
Coming to panc Park and selling the place out and
we haven't told the place out til scheme started, Like.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
I'd rather see I'd rather see the Savannah Bananas and
the Pirates, wouldn't you?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
I totally would.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
And if if if this t Ski Mark would would
have fallen on the field through in the Bananas game,
they might have let him bat.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
Right exactly.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
And this is brom nodding.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
This is the Pirates I've seen for years now.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
And just by the way, I'm a first time caller,
longtime listener, and this has just really hit my nerve,
it really has.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
All right, Eric, thank you for the call. We gotta
get a new collarboard here. I mean, nobody's do anything wrong.
My eyes are just going to crap, and I can't
see the names I called Eric, Mark. Why is the
collarboard black on gray? Who in the friggin frig can
we black on gray? I'm bitching a lot. Should have
quit last August. I'm not this past August like thirteen

(07:54):
months ago. But what's that mean? Only only twenty two
months ago? Assuming I don't lose my nerve and keep
doing it anyway, which isn't out of the realm, all right,
get your calls in a three, three, four, one, two,
nine thirty. Don we missed a Friday afternoon his football
picks at the bottom of the hour.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I'm Mark Madden on one oh five nine.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
It's the Woody Show weekday mornings at six. Of course,
X Music on one oh five nine, The X.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
From the one oh five nine, the X Traffic Center stations,
The X.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
At one oh five nine.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Steelers got the bibele, but we're still gonna talk black
and goal. Joining us now at the former quarterback for
the team. You hear him on the Steelers post game
show on DVE. He is Charlie batch, Charlie, how is
Aaron Rodgers shaped up? His numbers aren't great, but the
offense looks really poised with him at the helm.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
Yeah, that's one thing I was shocked about is and
I thought his numbers would be a little bit better
at least passy guards wise, but that hasn't happened. But
he has figured out a way to not turn the
football over and hopefully put the Steelers offense in a
good situation and they're able to capitalize on that of
the turnover that the defensive providing.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Right now, the offense doesn't look like we figured does it.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
The tight ends aren't getting targets and neither is the
number two wide early.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yet team has I mean coming into the season Arthur Smith.
You know, he says that he wants to run the football,
but yet that hasn't materialized. That the Steelers are almost
at the bottom of the league rushing the football. But
again that hasn't technically opened up that play action game.
But right now they're using that heavy tight end front.
Darnell Washington. It looks like he is becoming tight end
number one. But when he's on that field, that's when

(09:38):
it gets the running game going. So it's just going
to be interesting to see how they use this bye
week as you now kind of self pleash yourself and
then figure out see if you can break some of
those tendencies that can help you as you move forwards
during the season.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Well, Spencer Anderson too, they're using him as a sixth
offensive lineman, and I know they want to get the
running game going, Charlie, but doesn't the offense have to
expand at some point, especially when the Steelers play better
teams or get behind.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Yeah, it has to, because right now they're getting dominated
in time and possession. They can't run the football, but
yet they have a three and one record, so they
know just one thing to feel good about the three
and one record, But you know, you are far off
as it relates to going out there dominating teams. That's
why this is going to be a critical time coming
off of this bye week to see if they can
now create an identity and ultimately you lost your number

(10:25):
two receiver for a few weeks there with Calvin Austin,
who is going to step up in this particular equation
because we haven't seen Roman Wilson enough and Ben Scerniic
is on the field a little bit more. Scotty Miller
is seeing more time than what Roman Wilson is right now,
So you know, there's a lot of questions that's still
in that receiver group.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Staying with that.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Charlie, the Steelers wide oots coach, is on and he
said that Roman Wilson's not in the doghouse, And okay,
if I'm to believe that, then I want to know
why he's playing less than Miller and scronic because for me,
that does not add.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Up absolutely fun thing. But yet, when you go back
and look at who's how many snaps each player has received,
the numbers are glaring. You're like, okay, well, what's truly
going on If he's not in the doghouse. You know,
this is essentially his redshirt freshman year, missed all of
last year with an injury, or you know, played a
few snaps there. But again, he's learning in that expraboutic

(11:16):
learning curve. He has to pick that up. And if
he doesn't play this week, then those words obviously mean
nothing because obviously there's something else going on.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Well, never mind Roman Wilson, Charlie, I am shocked by
Pat fryar mooselack of involvement.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
What would you guess is going on there?

Speaker 5 (11:31):
I love those talking about running the football more. He's
you know, Darnell Washington is your best blocking tight end.
You know John new Smith, you know he's a blend
of the two. But yet where does he fit this offense?
And I've stopped for sure having Darnell on the field
a little bit more will open up the passing game
with friar move. I don't know what happened. Maybe it
goes back.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
You go to.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Seattle game whenever the second play, second pass play of
the game, when Aaron Rodgers rolls out to the right
rows that he caught a route to fire move and
he drops it. I don't know if that was the
determining factor, but all I know is since that play
his snatch has been decreasing over the last couple of games.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Is Kenneth Gainwell making a case to be the number
one back?

Speaker 9 (12:14):
He is?

Speaker 5 (12:15):
This is obviously Jaalen Warren's uh, you know, running back one.
But and I say that because they gave him the
contract extension. But it's like a veteran right They're like, hey, hey,
we'll call upon you when you need when we need
you guess what happened. The rookie didn't fall through with
Caleb Johnson, and yet he's getting his opportunity. Jalen Warren
was a healthy uh with the last minute scratch. But
yet this is why games Well is on here because

(12:38):
he is going to go out there and give you
what you need and ultimately, you know, you know, they
allow us that conversation of him potentially being that running
running back number one, but I think right now they
have a big one on one A with that combination.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, with Warren on it's not really an issue, but
but I think the irony is, you know, who's number one,
who's number one A? But they're both really third down
back because that's what they've always is their job.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
Yes, it's one thing, and that's where Jalen was coming
in last year when he was stilling Naji Harris in
that third down role. But yet to your point, you
have those two third down backs, but again, who is
now going to step up? Because nobody was able to
forecast that Caleb Johnson four games into the season would
not be part of this offense. So it's going to

(13:21):
be interesting. We heard Tomlins comment, hey, he's not the
dog out we're going to get him some more reps.
But yet we're gonna have to see that right now
because we don't truly have a power back that's in
here that you could turn around and hand that ball
off knowing that you're going to get four or five yards.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Talking to Charlie bats, the former Steelers quarterback, you hear
him on the DV postgame show and now he's on
the X. Charlie Aaron Rodgers is the last quarterback standing
in the AFC North, and it seems like the door
is wide open in that division. The Steelers are in
the driver's seat and if they win the next two.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
Wow, I think this is this is the part that
scares me because now do you you know, do they
you know, play with that edge or do they are reading,
you know, with all the headlines saying, hey, all these
injuries will happen. It's Stiller's division to lose. Maybe they
could be the number one seed in the AFC and
then they drop a game they're supposed to win. So
I just hope that they don't start buying into what

(14:13):
everybody else is telling them and that they're wired in
and not taking their instance. The Cleveland game that's coming up.
We don't know what's going to happen on Sunday as
they're playing the Bikings in London. But again, who is
going to be your quarterback? It could potentially be a
young quarterback, whether that's Dylan Gaber or maybe shudor Sanders
coming in here next week.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
What's it like for a team that has to use
it's number two quarterback mentally in game plan wise, because
you've been part of that on many occasions.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Yeah, when you're at a backup earlier in the season,
it's a lot easier because you spend all training camp
running your offense and you know the terminology that happens.
But when you get further into the season, yes, it's
one thing to know the game plan mentally, but as
a backup, you're not taking those starter reps. You are
essentially becoming the other team's quarterback and all the manner

(15:00):
that you'd have to have to prepare the defense. And
again you typically start out slow. So that's one thing
to be able to have it at the beginning, but
ultimately that's where I was able to use my experience
as a starter and then being able to step into
those games because again that game. Speed comes pretty fast,
but it takes you a while to get going, and
that's why typically the second and third game, if you

(15:21):
are able to start at the backup, those games are
better than the first.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
With the AFC North quarterback, Charlie, who's the best bet
to do okay with its number two quarterback? We know
Brining struggled in Cincinnati. What about Rush with Baltimore Gabriel
with Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
Yeah, I think Baltimore is in a better situation because
Cooper Rush he has that experience that he had down
in Dallas. But also you do have Dereck Hemry in
the backfield that you could turn around and hand that
football off. But again, without that combination of the Jackson
and Henry, you know they're not going to gain those
hitting rushing yards that Jackson Breese equate you. So they're
gonna teams are going to load up the box, they're

(15:58):
going to take away Henry away, and they're gonna say, Cooper,
you beat us with your arm. And if you do that,
all we can do is give you a hat off
to say, hey man, great job because you actually went
out there and delivered with your arm. Until he proves
that we don't know what that looks like. But I
think going back to your question, but the rest of
the three teams that's left, I think Cooper is in
the best situation.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
I'm really courious to see how Gabriel does for Cleveland
in London against Minnesota against that Flores defense. Was Shudor
Sanders look good over his shoulder. I think Gabriel's pretty promising.
I can't wonder if he doesn't do well if they
go to Sanders, maybe even during that game on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Yeah, they all options are open for sure, because right now,
you know, it's going to be interesting to see what
that inactive looks at close to the game time for
Cleveland because essentially, if you're putting Dylan in here and
Joe Blacko's your backup and something happens to him, Joe
Blacko's going.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Back, that's right, That's right. You couldn't just jump Sanders
over Flacco.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
Correct. So where we talk about the day, he still
is the number three quarterback, but that can change come
tomorrow if when that I'm sorry about Sunday, when that
inactive list, So that's gonna be something that we all
pay attention to. But again, if you're sitting back, you know,
and if you're dealing, you know already. If you're the
biking defense, they're going to turn around and try to
hand that football off. Some safe throws, maybe a bootleg,

(17:13):
a play action game where you're just coming back hitting
the tight end in the flat, just to pick up
some yardage on first down. So he's going to have
to prove that he could throw the football down the field.
If not, it's gonna be a long game for the
Browns offense.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Do you agree with Bruce Arians, the former Steelers assistant,
when he said that there's no reason for shirdor Sanders
to be doing media in Cleveland, that it just doesn't
do anybody any good.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Absolutely. I mean I'm sitting here scratching my head and
I'm like, okay again, why are you interviewing the third quarterback?
And I think, you know, the Browns organization should have said, hey,
he's off limits today, he's still thirteen quarterback. Why are
you even interviewing him? So, I mean, that's that's like me.
I mean, when Ben was the starter, you didn't see
me doing the interviews at the number three quarterback. That's

(17:54):
not happening. So no, you know, so again, those are
things that when you look at it and you're just
wondering why these things are occurring. But ultimately, regardless of
what Shador said this week, good, bad or indifferent, that
was going to make the headlines. Unfortunately he chose not
to speak and just lit his answers. And now that
has become a story.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
What's your take on the Steelers defense now?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Because it's still giving up yardage, too many yards, but
they're making splash plays and there's a lot to be
said for that, yeah, which is.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Really starting to come on on board. Nick Herbert Man,
he has stepped his game up and how Alex Hotsmith
placed and now you're allowing TJ to kind of do
his thing and kind of getting back on track. But
for me, the concerns with this defense is going to
be in the secondary because we don't know where Joey
Porter Junior stands as we speak today. You already know
Jalen Ramsey he's going to be out a couple of weeks.

(18:45):
But now they used this big nickel package last week
and I couldn't tell you who was the big nickel
package because it was the first time that they truly
did it throughout this season. But again, you had three
safeties on the field, and when they made that defensive call,
you can see Chuck Chuck Sanders, No, Chuck Clark, Chuck
Clark when you go and yeah, Chuck Clark, and you're
looking at that point and it's all of a sudden

(19:07):
there's a bus between Clark and Deshaun Elliott and then
Darius Play. So I think those are things that you
look back and you're just like, Okay, y'all got to
get it corrected from a communication perspective, because this right here,
maybe the team, maybe the secondary that you're throwing out
against the Browns. You gotta get that better because injuries
right now are starting to ramp up on the back end.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Y know what happens with Ramsey Odd because he was
supposed to be the guy who covers the other team's
best receiver, although they didn't use him to do that
against Jefferson before he got hurt, But it seems there's
a big trickle down when your Swiss army knife gets hurt.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Yeah, that's going to be a tough one for him
because Jalen is everything is advertised when he got to
Pittsburgh and he is living up to that. Unfortunately that
injury is taking him out. Begin we don't know what's
happening with Joey Porter Junior. So these are things that
once was the strength of this defense right now is
starting to be a question mark. And if Jay matt
In here is really going to hamper damper what Taro

(20:03):
Austin is going to do on that deep into second
heary because right now they can't use some exotic coverages
that they're trying to use because of the injuries.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
But like I said, Charlie, I see good signs on
the defense. I think TJ.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Watt and Cam Hayward, who aren't particularly active at camp,
I think they're catching up. I think Harmon's making an
impact the rook kill on the D line. If Kean,
who bet in a long last, is starting to do something.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Yeah, game of his really of his career to me
a short career here in Pittsburgh. But I think that
was the addition of Derek Harmon on that side, because
Harmon is exactly what you wanted in that first round pick,
and as his knee starts to get healthy and health healthier,
he's going to be more of an impactful person on
that deepensive front, freeing up the one on ones that
you're seeing with Benton. So I think that is going

(20:47):
to be something that he can continue to benefit from
because of the presence of Harmon in that middle.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Charlie, before we let you go, I listened to the
DV postgame show all the time I'm generally driving back
from somewhere having watched the game, and it's amazing how
optimistic the callers get when they win and how don
right angry they get when they lose.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
It.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
It really is a giant swing depending on the result,
isn't it.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
No, you are right about that. I mean you you
consider really this season, it's hard to tell if the
Steelers won or lost because the fans are upset at
the way we're winning. They want the game to be dominated,
but yet it's not happening. And there's time that me
and Michael Zula looking over at each other like do
we want to lose the game this week? Because people
are pissed as they're calling in, But hey, they have
a right. It's a live show. Your opinions are across

(21:34):
that you can get them across. And the one thing
that I always tell we do not control the off
and on switch. You can, if you can express yourself
respectfully and don't curse, we'll keep you on the air.
But the moment you curse, and because of that delay,
they're hitting a button on you because of everything else
that's coming behind it, and people get mad at us
because they're thinking we're cutting people off. But it's not
not that way. The fans they want to they want domination,

(21:57):
and right now they have not been able to sit
back in the fourth quarter or kick the legs up
and say we got this victory here today because games
are closer than what they should be.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
You have a three and one. Three and one, Charlie,
great stuff. Thank you so much for taking the time.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
Yeah, I appreciate you. Thank for having me.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
That's the great Charlie Batch.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
I'm not sure if he's brought to us by eighty
four Lumber, if the prior segment was brought to us
by eighty four Lumber, but we love eighty four Lumber,
the Hardy family dynasty, partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Right now,
I want to talk to you about Bet Parks. The
Bet Parks online casino in sportsbook app is the only
app I use. The Bet Sports I love it. I
recommend it because whether your team wins or loses, there's

(22:36):
always another way to win with bet Parks. The bet
parks On, like casino and sports book, has got you

Hans Bonny Diver and I just love good news. Okay,
So this is a great story I just heard about.
On a ninety degree day in Racine, Wisconsin. It gets
that hot up there, I guess it does. An AT
and T technician Marco was called out to install fiber
internet at residence. So while he was there, he noticed
it was really hot in the house. Meanwhile, the little
kids in the house kept coming over to him and

(24:31):
showing him their toys and all this kind stuff. So
Marco starts talking to their mom, Anastasia, and he finds
out that she has five kids and they just lost
their house in a fire a couple of months earlier.
And this was a temporary place. The AC wasn't working.
It's ninety degrees with five little kids, so Marco was
so moved by the situation that he called his supervisor, Anthony,

(24:53):
to see if they could do something. AT and T
approved the purchase of a five hundred dollars AC unit
through the company's AX of Kindness program that allows field
technicians to request support that impact their customers in that
special way. Thank you for the good news.

and a high of eighty four.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Hi, my guest right now.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Was one in four picking games this past week, one
to nine over the past two weeks. He's now eight
and twelve in the season, and he's got some splaining
to do.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
We welcome to the program, mister Friday Afternoon.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Mister Friday Afternoon, you've collapsed one to nine over the
last two weeks. Your consistency is not existent, and on
top of that you hate the Steelers.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
That sums it up. Done it.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Okay, let's move on to the picks. Then, what is
your pick of the week?

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Oh no, no, no, he came about a day. Uh, there's
a you guys were made me. Wait again, two weeks
in a row. You're intentionally doing this and there's and
if you look at my contract, I think my lawyer
negotiated that when you're this late, that the producer will
be taking the shock treatment instead of me. And it's
a trade off.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
That is a total fabrication on your part. You can't
even afford a lawyer. But that reminds me. Let's uh,
let's give mister Friday after in his shock.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Wow, that's not fair.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Another one your prediction?

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Ow again, this is ridiculous. Stop it, stop it.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
How that was kind of like her Brooks and miracle
Kurt Russell.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
It's very it's very sadistic of you to try it.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
You want to do this to me, that's true. Okay,
what's your pick of the week? The pick of the week?

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Uh, what do you have a minute that I'm going
to get asking you that? Do you whatever line you
have Minnesota and Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Well, you're responsible for getting the lines.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
No, no, you I give a line out and you're
you're supposed to use the local white line in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
No, we use bet Parks. But it's your responsibility.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Okay, what does bet Park say the line is?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I'm looking it up now we'll just see. This is
an example I don't get. Don't that's why you stay nine?

Speaker 2 (27:21):
You stink?

Speaker 4 (27:23):
That's what about the weeks before? What about the seven?
What about the seven and the seven and three the
week the week before.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
It's all about consistency and plus which when you're unprepared,
you make me look unprepared.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Well, you're supposed to have the lines in front of you.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
No, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
You're supposed to do it's your responsibility.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
I'm gonna take Cleveland plus three and a half against
the against Minnesota. Okay, the line early today morning?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
No, the lines?

Speaker 1 (27:51):
The line seven? Oh no, no, it opened at seven.
Now it is at three and a half correct.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Correct uh minutes every pick this week. We are attacking
massive injury situations on the other team. I know, I
know Dyan Gabers a rookie starting, but that Cleveland defense
is gonna need a live that Minnesota get all all
all backups and backups to the backups on their offensive
line right now, and a backup quarterback. They may one

(28:18):
minute that their defense might shut down Gabriel. But I'll
take the field goal. And they actually half a point there.
That's gonna be close inerated the the ugliest game of
the week. I'll take the I'll take the underdogs. Okay,
they can at least run the ball.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yet, there's mister Friday after his first pick. Cleveland plus
three and a half. The Steelers don't playe credit with the
loss automatically, No, I was.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
I've been two and two in the Steeler games this year.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Yeah, but you're but you there, since there is no
Steeler game, you get credit that.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
The Matthew simple and that the sun and automatic loss.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Okay, well, you get to pick a bonus game. We'll
call it a bonus game. What's your pick in place
of the Steeler pick?

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Uh, We're gonna take out the Houston minesterrena half against
the Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Okay, you think Houston's gonna win the game.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah, Baltimore's defense.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
One and a half.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
Okay, I'll take go. But I got great o'kay. Definitely
that we're gonna make We'll go. I want to make
this the Daily Double.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Okay, you can't make it the Daily.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Baltimore's defense, their defensive line and their secondary is decimated.
And for offense, they had their backup quarterback playing. And
this is a Houston woke up last week and they
both of these season one to three. I I could
see Baltimore just like just giving up in this game,
like you're just just throwing the towel, and this could
get ugly.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
I mean it's at Baltimore. I know Lamar than that.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
They're banged up on defense, but they got to stay
in the division race.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
They're already one in three.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
I'm aware of that that they have all they have
so many substitutes playing in this game. It's not the same.
It's this team is not gonna This is not the
Baltimore Ravens. There's too many backups playing because the too
man Andrews. All right, they're gonna get beat up.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
That is the Daily Double Houston. Okay, what is the
bonus pick?

Speaker 6 (30:12):
Now?

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Uh, we're gonna take Cincinnati plus ten and a half
at home. I guess they're getting against Detroit, Ah.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yeah, Sincinatti plus ten and a half correct.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Yeah, that's too many points. They they've been blown out,
they've been they've been non competitive two weeks in a row.
What happens is that they're a good team, maybe a
lot of good players. I'm sure they've focused this week
and like trying to get things straight and you know,
being a ten and a half point underdog at home
and you're you're not even gonna losing. They're two and
two on the year. You know, I know this story.

(30:44):
Who's making the picks me? Who's making the picks me
or you?

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Well, I think the people would be nursing to hear
and what I have to say as well?

Speaker 4 (30:53):
Okay, go ahead, what do you have to say?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
You're an idiot?

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Okay, let's put me in the only top of my fans.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
You if you like talking, mister Friday Afternoon dial uh uh.

Speaker 2 (31:03):

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Is that the actual number? You give it a number
to uh, the the Filthy Steelers dot Com hot hotline,
Philthysteelerwives dot com, The Filthy Steeler Wives dot Com live
chat hotline.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
No, this is the phone number to call the show.
It's been changed eight, three, three, four, one thirty nine. Okay,
I get to pick the super Collider.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
And I'm going to make the Super Collider Cincinnati plus
ten and a half.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
Oh, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
That makes Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
I agree. The Super Collider is my the pick of
the week for me, so kind of. Also, also, I
would like to reiterate that this week in particular, I
have zero doubt about my pigs.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Okay, so, uh well, we're getting some calls, but they're
not I mean, really, there's no time to take calls.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
No, it was real quick. You're trying to deny me
my interaction with my fans.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah, but they usually just just.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Just get him. We're wasting time. Bring them on.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Okay, let's Paul. You're on mister Friday Afternoon. Paul, You're on.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
What's going on? Eminem Talk?

Speaker 6 (32:30):
Paul.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Hey, I thought they closed the State hospital? Man, where'd
you get that guy?

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Good Bye?

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Paul.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Paul's obviously out of the Your fans are idiots.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
That's your fans. Now that your fan.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
He called for you, but he.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
Called me an idiot. That's not a fan. That's a show.
He's listening to your show. So he's a fan. Of
you calling me an idiot. So he's not my fan,
as your fans listen to your show.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Okay, T wrap it up Cleveland plus three and a half.
The daily double is used to minus one and a
half in the super Collider.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Is sincenaty plus ten and a half.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Anything else and he did and he's to.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
The made was zero doubts.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Call not to ask Mark anything? Four one two excuse
me eight three three four one two ninety nine thirty nine.
That's eight three three four one two ninety nine thirty nine.
Or you can leave a talk back via the microphone
icon it the iHeartMedia app about that I have zero
doubts one nine x this hour the mark c x

(33:38):
at one O five nine all right, time not ask
Mark anything? Bughtless by People's Natural Gas, People's in the
sense you utilities company, that's People's net, People's hyphengas dot com.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Let's go to ken can't ask Mark anything?

Speaker 11 (33:57):
And it was up double M I can what's going on?
My question is out of our rookie draft class, do
you think the best running back.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Will be.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Out of the Steelers? I mean they got one running
back Caleb Johnson.

Speaker 11 (34:14):
No, no, no, no, no, no. Out of this draft class,
we got Jant, we got Hampton, we got Judkins.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
I think Janty's the easy pick.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
I think he's gonna take a lot with Justin truly
blossom after having played not you know, big time, big
time college football. But I.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Think he has every natural ability, don't you.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
I do.

Speaker 11 (34:36):
I think his contact balance all that's good. He catches
the ball well all the backfield. But Judkins, man, I
just watched him run. I put my money on him.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
You don't think it'll be Caleb Johnson?

Speaker 11 (34:47):
Then, oh god, I wish.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
I wish they'd give him a bigger chance. Thank you
for the call. Let's go to a talkback.

Speaker 6 (34:55):
Uh yeah, I just wanted to say that Lamar Jackson
is definitely only the exception to the good looking quarterback role.
Maybe that's just a personal opinion, but uh yeah, there
you go.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
That's probably why they wanted to make him into.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
A receiver or whatnot. Not because he's African America, because
he's U G l y. He ain't got no alibi
great quarterback. Obviously that talks never should have occurred. But yeah,
that's my theory. I said before, the reason why most
quarterbacks are good looking is because the football coach in
youth and high school football are gonna give the good
looking kid first chance at quarterback because the stereotype the

(35:32):
stud athlete, the prom king. What's good to Steve, Steve
row with double M as mark anything, double M.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
If the Penguins need to get a star young forward,
what are the options on the table and what will
the Penguins have to give up?

Speaker 2 (35:49):
No, they have to draft one.

Speaker 5 (35:52):
Oh okay, do you have guys in mind from college?

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Galva McKenna. Gavin McKenna, he's.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
The prison the first picking this year's draft.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
He's the obvious choice. There are two or three, maybe
four more great forwards in this draft.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Too, Like those two or three guys like obviously get
m agen an S tier?

Speaker 3 (36:11):
What about the eight tier guys?

Speaker 2 (36:15):
I gotta be honest, I don't know right now. I
don't care. That drafts a long way away. I know
there's four or five guys in there.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Gotcha, thank you.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Let's hope to get mckennam.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
I'm not doing draft analysis when I don't know when
the Penguins are picking, and it's October, the prior season.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Let's go to a talkback.

Speaker 9 (36:32):
Hey, Mark, with the w NBA soon to enter a lockout,
do you think there's a chance that they missed the
entire season next year? And if that happens, do you
think the league will fold?

Speaker 2 (36:46):
We talked about that yesterday. I don't think the leg
will fold.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
I think the players will get what they want, which
is more money than they deserve, more money than the
economic structure of the league itself can handle, although again
they're'll be kept alive by the subsidization provided by the NBA.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
The men's league.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
For some reason, people think it's very important for there
to be an equivalent women's league in every major sports,
although that's not happened yet.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
With baseball, we have a women's.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Hockey league nobody wants to watch, a women's soccer league
that very few want to watch beyond international play, a
women's basketball league that gets a lot of attendance in
certain places, and to see Caitlyn Clark everywhere.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
But it's very important societally.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
I don't think it is, but everybody else does that
there'll be a women's league and everything, and that they
make more money than they deserve. Because it was disgusting
when the US women's national soccer team got as much
money as the men. They put all the money from
both teams in the common pool and dole it out.
That's ridiculous. The women's team has been way better, but
it produces far less revenue than the men, because women's

(37:56):
soccer internationally produces far more or less revenue then men's
soccer internationally.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
But once you go down that road.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
There's no going back, and that is why they'll give
in and the WNBA players will get far too much money,
way too much.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Let's go to Beth and the Beth of the ass
work anything.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Yeah, do you think? Yeah, yeah, goodbye.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Let's go to a talkback.

Speaker 9 (38:23):
Mark, will you commit to not retiring until the City
of Pittsburgh wins another championship.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
I won't even commit to not dying before the City
of Pittsburgh win's another championship.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Let's go to a talkback.

Speaker 12 (38:39):
Hey, Mark, this is Sparky in Springfield, Villain. I just
uh Paul to ask uh if Yarramir Yager was on
the Penguins, do you think he'd be a top six
forward on the on the Pens?

Speaker 2 (38:52):
No, God, no, because he's fifty three.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
I mean, be real, I don't think good function is
a bottom six at fifty three that Czech league that's
not exactly the NHL or the KHL or the AHL.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
It's just not very good.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
And Yahg is playing to sell tickets because he owns
the team, owns, owns

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
