(00:10):
All right, all right, allright, we'll leave mister Dallas. It's
gonna be making the scene here injust a bit. See what he's got
for us today. We are outhere at the PGA Omni in whoa,
what is it? We're in Frisco. Frisco, Frisco. That's right,

(00:34):
Bourbs can be troubled. I tellyou sometimes I think you and mister Dallas
are the same guy. Are youget outside of the city of Dallas and
my man's GPS just starts doing circles? I think that about them too.
Yeah. And mister Dallas, wellhe he won't go outside the city of
Dallas. Yeah, he just won't. Both of you are like a you
leave the city proper, you becomelike a duck with a broken wing.

(00:58):
Circles confused. Well, we'll seewhat he's got for us today, if
and when he shows up, andif he doesn't, well we'll deal with
that then, I guess yep.But right now there's this. This is
the best best damn, Oh mygod, do you guys mind if I

(01:22):
talk to you about something that Ifind quite interesting that I enjoy thoroughly in
the world of sports, so longas it's sports, Yeah, We're thirteen
days away from the NFL Draft, and I would like to talk a little
Cowboys draft. But first I wouldlike to talk to anybody who's in the
Frisco area, because we are uphere right now at the Omnipga Frisco Resort,
and it's lovely. There's all sortsof stuff you do here. You
don't have to be staying at theresort to come hang out and put or

(01:42):
hit the ball around or play thePart three, or hang out at the
restaurants, whatever. There's lots ofstuff to do up here, and you
could come up and see us.We are technically on the patio of the
lounge by Top Golf up here.Okay, that's where we are, and
we had a bunch of stuff.Dont let me find my email. I
believe it's mathing, but I don'twant to script the word. I believe

(02:05):
it's MAVN Golf. Uh boo booboo boo boo boo boo boo boom.
Don't worry, guys, I'm justgonna find this. Okay, Clearly,
we'll be chilling. Clearly, Iwas not prepared anyway. It's sweet golf
bags. There's like three or four. I'm over there and we've got some
wedges, some golf wedges, andballs and range finders and all sorts of
really cool stuff that if you're agolfer, you know, things ain't cheap.

(02:28):
So if you'd like a chance towin some of those things for free,
stop by our ninety seven one thefreak ten over there, put your
name in the hat, and you'vegot a shout to win the good stuff.
And now you know that golf maybea lot of things, but one
thing for sure is is it isnot inexpensive. Yeah. It it depends
where you are in your golf journey. You can uh, like when I

(02:51):
first started golfing, it was notexpensive because you can do like you know,
Craigslist, Facebook, Marketplace, andyou just find somebody who's got old
stuff there rid of and you're like, that works for me. But then
what happens is you try to getbetter at golf and you're like, oh,
I must say I need new equipment, Yes, need I gotta fit
get fitted. I got to doall these things, and I start taking
it more seriously. Yeah yeah yeah, And you go up there you're like,

(03:13):
look, I need a four ironthrough a pitching wedge and they're like,
no problem, we'll get you fitted. And you're like, all right,
how much like nineteen hundred bucks, you son of a bitch. Okay,
I'm gonna go back to somebody's garageand get their clubs again. Yeah,
I've been through some clubs now, some garage sale clubs or something.
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah Ido yeah, yeah, yeah, do
it that way, do it thatway. Trust me, you're only pretending.
What's happening if you're a new golferis you're just not good. Like

(03:37):
it's not that the things you havearen't good enough. They're fine. It's
you're not good. It's you.And I'm saying that because I'm talking to
me. Yeah, like I wouldn'tneed more expensive stuff. I wouldn't spend
the money to get more expensive stuff. It did not make me better at
golf. You gotta put in thetime. Yeah you do. Now I'm
putting in the time. It's stilltough. It is. I'm getting better.

(03:57):
I'm getting a lot better. What'syour goal? It's tough. My
goal is to play golf. Andif somebody invites me to play golf,
to know that the odds are Iwill shoot in the eighties. Okay,
not nineties. Ye, Now,I play in the nineties. I want
to play in the eighties. AndI've already gotten probably on average, four
or five strokes better because of mygod Dan at the Golf Ranch and Richardson.
He's been getting me right. Ithink if I were going to do

(04:18):
it, my goal would be tonot be a complete, utter, total
beat down to play with for whoeverI am playing, Yeah, that's goal
one. It is to feel likeyou're more often than not gonna at least
get off the t box and notfeel embarrassed and like I'm sorry, guys,
I'm sorry you invited me. That'sgoal one. And then you start
worrying about score. Okay, coupleof things. Actually, before we do

(04:41):
Cowboys stuff, I just want toplay one thing because Kevin Harlan's the goat,
you guys know, Kevin Harlan.Yeah, play by play man.
Yes, I do believe he's thegreatest play by play man in the history
of sport. And not just becausehe's great at it, but because I
love that whatever happens, yeah,he will go with it. Called a
black cat play called the black Catscoring a touchdown. There was a streaker

(05:03):
that he did a full call for, Like I would imagine it's probably advised
to play by play guys, andit's probably better for the world if we
don't acknowledge when those things happen. But he's like, hell, let's here,
I'm here, I'm just gonna callit. I'm gonna have some fun
and it's amazing. Is it happeningon the field? Right? You need
to know, yeah, that it'sin play for the play by play guys.
Okay, So this is the NewOrleans Pelicans and the Sacramento Kings last

(05:26):
night. They're just playing out thestring. I mean, New Orleans is
up by eleven points. There's fiftyseconds left, and Kevin Harwin is on
the call, and you are goingto just hear what happens. Williams,
he's got it, Reelicans, holdon driving into Murray. Somebody's thrown something
on the floor forty six seconds togo in a whistle blue. It's a
chicken wing. Why would someone throwsomething that could out on the floor.

(05:56):
It's crispy worn, yes, AndI almost had to go out here.
I'm so hungry. Here your stomachover here growl ingim, what's that I'll
be it's a chicken wing. Ijust love Kevin Harlan. Why would someone
I wonder if it's hard to turnthat broadcast voice off. I wonder if

(06:18):
he can't, like if he justgoes something, he's like, hey,
honey, that was your day.I just got home from work, And
I think about bed. I thinkbecause I've interviewed Kevin Harlan at least two
or three times, yes, andit is the exact same that there's no

(06:40):
tone change from his play by play. That's how he talked to his answering
questions on the radio. I thinkthat's just his like he had to do
play by play because when he waseight. People are looking at him weird
for talking like that. They're like, could we put him like in front
of a football field or something,because he's weird. It's a chicken wing.
How he spoke, Like his firstword mall, mall, probably yeah,

(07:03):
I think those people's first word yeah, and like even mommy, yeah,
whatever age you learn multiplicate, multiplication, that's a hard word. Now.
They put fight, they put fivetimes three on the morning's like you
answer is fifteen and they're like, okay, get out of class. This
is weird. We're just gonna makeyou a play by play guy. Just

(07:25):
go do it, just going todo it. Yeah, you're only eleven
years old, but we see whereyou're going. Just go yeah yeah,
yeah yeah. Okay. So theNFL Draft is now and this is Friday,
so we are thirteen days away fromthe NFL Draft, and uh,
when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, they have to have the best draft
that anyone's ever had in the historyof the sport if they want to try
to win the Super Bowl. Soit's gonna be a really important draft.

(07:47):
Well, there's some interesting numbers thatI can. Let me get these numbers
for you to explain just how hardthe Cowboys aren't trying so far this offseason,
because it's pretty damn incredible, theboy it really is. At Spo
Track, they put up how muchevery team has spent this offseason to try

(08:09):
to make their team better. Andit's not skewed in any weird way because
it's not just how much you spentin free agency. Right, bad teams
who don't have any good players, you go into the offseason and sure they
have a ton of money they buyall the players. But it's every team
how much they've spent in free agentsor extending their own players. Anything you

(08:31):
kept a guy, it counts howmuch have you spent? And the teams
at the very top have spent overthree hundred million dollars this offseason. It's
like, yeah, okay, sothey had a bunch of cap space,
they suck blah blah blah blah blah. Then you work your way down,
you're like, wow, a lotof team's spent two hundred mis bunch teams
spent one hundred million dolls. AndI'm working my way from one, and
I know they're not gonna be towardsthe top, working my way towards the

(08:52):
bottom. And I forget who wassecond to last, but I think they
had spent second to last in theNFL, had spent like forty four million
dollars, hadn't done much. Andthen there's the Cowboys at eleven oh no
last, dead last in the NFL, and dead last by a long shot.
If they quadrupled what they had spent, they could get out of last
into thirty first. They're not tryingtheir hard. This does not sound very

(09:16):
all in. Yeah, it's not. It's not. And we've gone over
the things that they could have doneif they wanted to add more players,
but they don't. They're gonna sellyou on, you know, guys that
we have here that haven't played yet. They can though they can play.
These guys are good, you know, and these second year jumps from our
rookies and all that whatever, Butthey got a lot to do. They
go. So where are we atwith the offensive line? Because if it's

(09:39):
as terrible as I think it is, it's like you can't play football with
a bad offensive line. The hardpart about their offensive line right now is
that, like you have Zach Martinright, he's wonderful, he plays right
guard. You have Tyler Smith,he's wonderful, he plays left guard,
and depending on what they do inthe draft, he might play left tackle.

(10:00):
Whatever. He's a good player.Your right tackle is Terrence Steele.
And last year he was horrendous. He was awful, and it was the
year before where he was decent. It's okay before he got hurt. Yeah,
I feel like he was bad thangood than bad again. Yeah,
So you know, if they wantto pretend that, well, they can't.
They don't have time to worry aboutright tackle because there's too many other
things to worry about. And theypaid Terrence Steele because they like Terrence Steele.

(10:22):
That's the way the Cowboys operate.Michael Gallup got a contract because they
like him. Terrence Steele got acontract because they like him. They signed
players that they shouldn't because they likethem. And so right now, at
center, if they had to goplay a football game, I guess it's
a Rock Hoffman. He played alittle bit last year when people got banged
up. He's a guy. Hewas an undrafted guy a couple of years

(10:43):
ago. He's a guy. Okay, you don't want to play an NFL
game? Oh good? And atleft tackle, I guess it would be
a Chuma e Dooga who gave upI think five sacks when he played against
Miami last year. He's awful.I want to watch well, and so
that's like they're going to pick.Actually, you know what, this is
good though, This is good,Julie. This is the point of what
I wanted to do for the segment. Okay, because I do love the

(11:05):
NFL Draft. I'm excited about it. I was kind of late getting going
this year, but now I've watchedprobably between forty and fifty guys, and
I've got a little bit of workingknowledge working my way towards this thing.
Yeah, And without beating you guysdown with draft players and all that crap,
I just want to say that Ithink if the Cowboys would let me

(11:26):
do what needs doing, we'd havea better shot of fixing this thing than
they do right now. Because rightnow, based on the people that they're
having visit before the draft and thepicks that they have to work with,
I think picks that you can reasonablyexpect are going to help your football team
as a rookie. First round, you'd like to think second round, and

(11:48):
you hope for the third round.Anything else is like hell yeah, great
pick, that was awesome. Sotwo maybe three guys are supposed to be
able to help you as a rookie. Last year they had zero, And
so I believe currently their goal isto find their left tackle or their center
with their first round pick. Withtheir second round pick, if it works

(12:09):
out, they might pick another offensivelineman. If not, they're going to
pick a running back or a linebacker. In the third round. They're going
to pick a running back or alinebacker or an offensive lineman. Like it's
and they want to fill those fourbut they only have three picks there.
So I just want the Cowboys tolisten to me and we when you get
to the twenty fourth pick in thedraft, just stare at the phone and

(12:31):
when it answers or when it rings, answer the phone. Because what you
want to happen is that you getto the twenty fourth overall pick and there's
not a guy at one of thepositions you're dreaming of that you're in love
with, but there is somebody therethat somebody who's picking later in the round
really wants. That's what they needto have happen, because then we get
to pull out what is called thetrade chart and we get to start having

(12:54):
fun chart. Not the trade chart. The trade chart. The trade chart
turns into the trade shark. Itcan't turn into the trade shark. Because
I have a dream and that dream. I don't know if you can say
that it's taken. I think youcan still have a dream, Okay,
Like my dream is obviously not asimportant as the guy who had a dream,

(13:16):
But my dream, yeah, youknow, it's just mine, right,
that's true. My dream is thatyou get there and if I have
to really dig into it and guessit, like who could call? And
why, uh, there's a receiveravailable that the Chiefs or the Bills like,
and you're not gonna pick him.And they call and they're like,
hey, what are you doing? And you're like, Oh, I'm just

(13:37):
hanging out at the dry Yeah, but you do play hard bull, You're
the Joneses. You're like, Oh, I'm just really dialed in on this
guy. I'm gonna pick that youwant, but I'm picking him. And
then you go to the trade chartand you say, okay, so what
happens if you want to trade upfor this pick? And the answer to
that is we'll say it's Kansas City. The answer is, all right,
we both have a similar chart thatevery pick is worth a certain amount of

(14:00):
points, and it says that mypick is seven hundred and forty and yours
is five hundred and ninety. Youowe me one hundred and fifty points.
You want to come up here here, you go give me one hundred and
fifty points. And the answer tothat for Kansas City is you gotta give
me your third round pick and likea fifth round pick, and then you
could come up here and I'll godown there, I'll pick thirty second,
and if you want to have alot of fun, you would do that

(14:22):
trade, and then you would godown to the thirty second pick instead of
the twenty fourth pick, because you'regonna be picking the same kind of player.
And then in the second round youmight do the same thing and moved
down a little bit. And thatis how they could go from having the
twenty fourth pick, the fifty sixthpick, and the eighty seventh pick as
the only three picks that are relevant, yeah, to having something like thirty

(14:43):
two, fifty six, sixty four, eighty seven, ninety five. Like
I can get you multiple extra picksin the top one hundred picks. Now
we could go back and go likecow Lee, remember how we weren't trying
hard this offseason, Remember how wejust wanted to suck on purpose and then
be like, see, we toldyou you can't win with this quarterback.

(15:05):
Now we can actually take a shotat this. We might actually be able
to get a tackle and a center, and a running back and a linebacker,
and then we could get extra players. I think this is a wonderful
year for the Cowboys. When theyare on the clock at number twenty four,
to pray to God that the phonerings, and answer it and move
around a little bit and get yourselfa couple more humans. Get yourself a
couple of more humans. You couldmove down, and to move down six

(15:30):
to ten spots get you another topone hundred pick. And now we got
another dart to throats work. Becausealso, I mean got lead the arrogance
to assume that you're gonna pick I'mgonna pick my left tackle at twenty four.
I'm gonna pick my center at fiftysix, my start running back at
eighty seven. Right, they're notall just gonna be there. And what
if whoever you pick there isn't good? Yeah, all picks aren't hits.

(15:54):
How realistic is this scenario or howrealistic is any part of this scenario.
The Cowboys historically don't trade down aton. I will say the one time
that they did it that I canremember, they did it because they were
gonna pick a center in the firstround and that could line up again this

(16:15):
year. I think there are threeguys in this particular draft that belonged to
get picked somewhere around pick twenty fourto forty, and so ideally, if
you were going to pick one ofthose guys. Don't do it at twenty
four add value, pick them laterbecause you're gonna get the same player or
the same caliber of player. Becausethe last time I remember them trading down

(16:37):
in the first round, they tookTravis Frederick. So let's repeat history.
If we're gonna pick a center inthe first round, let's trade down,
and people are gonna be like,oh, they picked a second round player
in the first round. You'd belike, yeah, the last time you
thought, I picked a third roundplayer in the first round and he was
an All Pro and Travis Frederick. So we're gonna do it again. So
it worked on rather well. Yeah, seems like it wouldn't be a good

(17:00):
idea to like really laser in onspecific guys at this point. I tell
you, but maybe have like yourbig your big field of players. If
any of these twenty or whatever fallinto a situation that we can draft them,
pick them, but you can't gettoo excited about one. And I
do think, and I do thinkthat's what teams do, right, is
they do have fields of players. They have their grades, first round grades,

(17:21):
second round grades, et cetera. And my guess, I guess part
of the reason that I hope thatthis turns into a trade down. Thing
is I've read five million mock drafts, and when I tell you they draft,
every single person on planet Earth hasthem picking the exact same player in
the first round. His name's TylerGuidon. He's an offensive tackle out of
Oklahoma. I would never want toput him on an NFL field as a
rookie. I think it would bea train wreck. And that's probably part

(17:45):
of the reason that I'm like, everyone is giving you the same player,
because what they're doing is they're wipingout the top tier of offensive tackles to
the teams that pick ahead of youthat need one, and then they're just
filling in the mock drafts what otherteams need. They're getting to Dallas and
they're like, oh, they wantto take a tackle, and you're looking,
you're just picking the next one, even though he's not in a top
tier. He's in the next tierwith a bunch of guys, and it's
like, oh, well, givethem the next one. And I don't

(18:07):
want to pick an offensive tackle becauseI'm picking an offensive tackle. If ye
haven't, we got to pick adifferent one later. Yeah, I don't.
I don't, and I thought TylerSmith would struggle as NFL rookie,
and he did better than I thoughthe would, and I'd be happy to
be wrong about another guy. Butwhen I tell you, I keep seeing
the exact same name over and overand over in every mock draft of the
Cowboys, and I'm like, pleasedon't pick him at twenty four. That's

(18:33):
part of the reason that I thinkI want to see him get to move
in and make some moves. Soyeah, like today, just for fun,
I was like, let me seeif I can find a different guy
today. Yeah. I looked upNFL mock draft and there's one from CBS
today and I scroll down number twentyfour Tyler Gayton, offensive tackle, Ogohoma.
I was like, Okay, whatdid mel Kiper do yesterday? And
went chain Tyler Geiton offensive tackle.Local kind of copy each other, though,

(18:53):
I think that there's probably a littlebit of a consensus like there,
you're not gonna find a lot ofdraft guys that are just gonna pull a
guy's name out of left field thathasn't been in anybody's top fifty and like,
I think he's gonna go nineteenth,Like none of them want to beat
that brave. There's a little bitof group think to it, I'm sure,
but I'm tired of seeing the sameplayer in every single mock draft.
And then I watched him and Iwas like, uh, oh, every

(19:15):
every mock draft has this taken thatguy. Oh, isn't that impressive.
I was not that impressed. Andit's a guy that you know. The
way the NFL draft works is whenyou get into the twenties, if it's
an important position. If you hada guy who's six seven, three hundred
and thirty pounds, really good athlete, wonderful tape, well guess what,
you don't get to pick him attwenty four. He goes in the top

(19:36):
ten. And so you get totwenty four. You're like, now,
tell me about the offensive tackle andI'm like, well, he's six seven,
he's three hundred and twenty pounds andhe's pretty athletic. And you're like,
oh, that's a really good startingpoint. And I'm like, yes,
it's a good starting point. It'slike, all right, now tell
me about how he plays well.I can't really stay in front of people.
His timing's weird when he's on themovie misses a lot, and it's
like but that is kind of whatthe draft is. You won an offensive
tackle outside of the top ten, fifteen, twenty, right, then there's

(19:59):
going to be some fault. Yeah, we're gonna have a We're not gonna
have a flawless prospect. But Ithink it's a good trade down here for
the Cowboys. So last year Iheard a couple of years ago, I
had T shirts made and named myselfcaptain trade down. Yeah. I like
to trade down. It's my favoritebecause usually the team that trades down wins
because the team that trades up isdesperate. You got any more of those
T shirts? I could see ifwe can get a new one. I
can see if we get some newones made. But anyway, if you're

(20:22):
a huge nerd and you want toknow about like fifteen offensive linemen in this
draft, I broke down a bunchof them on my YouTube page this morning
YouTube dot com slash Jeff Kapnall,I'm not gonna beat you down on mass
FM radio with fifteen NFL draft players. Okay, gonna do it. I'm
gonna check it out tonight. Okay, that is your best damn sports segment
period, And coming up next,we'll see if mister Dallas can find his
way out to Frisco. How aboutthat next
