Speaker 1 (00:01):
Moments that defined the year.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is the best of Elvis Duran in the Morning Show.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
I've been amazed at this for years. If you're familiar
with the New York City, New Jersey area, you know
that there's just a river, just a little river, between
New York City and the state of New Jersey, right
the Hudson River. I met people when I first moved
to New York thirty something years ago who lived in
Jersey City, right on the water, looking at Manhattan, who
(00:27):
had had not been into Manhattan over twenty years. So
they just said they we don't need to go over there.
Iverythan we need is right here on this side of
the river in Jersey. We don't need New York City.
New York City is at paying the ass, it's dirty, whatever,
And I was always amazed at that. I read this
this morning that five percent of American adults have never
(00:50):
visited another US state.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Wow, okay, wow.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah, And I guess, well, okay, that means ninety five
percent have, which is the major already, of course, but
five percent is still a lot of people who, forever reason,
whatever reason, have not left the state. And so I'm like, well,
why is that? So I started reading deeper. Sixteen percent
of Americans adults they've been to thirty or more states.
(01:16):
Have you ever done the state thing where you yes,
see how many states you've been to? Yes? I love that?
They say it's most people twenty percent. Anyway, a lot
of people say it's very important to visit a large
number of number of states within their lifetime. Thirty five
percent say it's somewhat important. So there are people who
are really into travel getting out. The most visited states are,
(01:38):
of course, Florida, New York, Texas, and California. The least
where Alaska, North Dakota, Vermont, and Montana.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Alaska should be high on the list that you need
to go to Alaska, it is so beautiful, But.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Look at that list. The least visited states are Alaska,
in Vermont and Montana, three.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Of the most beautiful.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, the most beautiful states. Maybe it's because no one's visiting.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Is incredible too.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
People are keeping it clean.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
All those people coming to New York beat the hell
out of us. It's okay. I hear awesome things about
Maine and it's so close and I've never been, so
I'm gonna try and do a trip to Maine. Who's in.
I'm in. I'd love to go. And this is another
thing about the Northeast. When I moved from Texas, where
you know you have to get in your car and
drive for four hours is to get to your bathroom.
Because it's all spread out in the Northeast. You can
(02:29):
be on a train from Philly to New York or
New York Philly and you're you're in this incredible, historically
significant city in an hour. Yeah, and I know many
people who've never been to Philly living in New York
and Philadelphia, people who never come to New York. I'd
be going to Boston. I'd be going going up the
East coast to New England. You know, there's Washington, d C.
(02:53):
All the most interesting, some of the most interesting cities
in the country are within an hour and a half
or two hours of each other. Yeah, people aren't going.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I think we should stop telling people about Montana. It's
just so perfect. I don't want it to get invaded.
That's where Glacier National Park is.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
I know there's a lot to see that so but
as I said, maybe they are still still pristine and
beautiful because no one goes well, a lot of people
do go, don't get me wrong, but not like New York.
In California and Florida, it's scary, what tough, of what?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Well, it's just so there's so much to see in
the world and all I want to do is travel
and see all of it. And then I look at
what tourism is doing to like so many of these places,
and I think, I don't want to go there.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
But you're not doing it.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
You're you respect where you go, so you're different.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Oh, yes, that is it. But you see, for instance,
in Spain, they have signs up, they have graffiti on
the wall saying Americans go away, Travelers go away. We
don't want tourists because tourism is on their nerves. People
that live there, they think that there their way of
living is being encroached by you know, crazy Americans.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
But I feel like a lot of places wouldn't survive
without the tourism.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
They will know, of course not, they wouldn't remember in
Spain when they had the score guns, they were shooting
everybody with get out of here, Taurus.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
It's true. So yeah, we encourage if you can go
to one of these states that's so pristine, will ruin
them head on over. Hey, you made an announcement a
few moments ago, Danielle about FIFA. Yes, and there was
a little tweak.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
What's happening is, by the way, our iHeartRadio partner's Global Citizen.
Along with FIFA, they've announced that Jay Balvin, Dojakat and
Thames will headline the first ever FIFA Club World Cup
halftime show. And it is curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yes, so awesome. So it's not the World Cup final
that's happening next year twenty twenty six. This is this year,
July thirteenth, And I think somebody in this room has
tickets for that show.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yes, I'm going. I'm gonna be there.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
So cool.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
That's gonna be amazing.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
A really good friend from New Mexico who's a huge
football or soccer fan, says, Hey, I'm coming to New York.
You got to take me to the FIFA Club World
Cup half World Club Cup game. I mean, okay, so
I got tickets for like six of us. We have
a box with the cocktails everything. And then you said,
wait a minute, Elvis, aren't you going to be there
(05:18):
for the j Balvin Doja Catim show.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
We are going to be there for that.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I'm so excited is that Mettlife Stadium.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
We're going to be there. Absolutely, that's awesome. So, by
the way, if you're wondering about this partnership with Global
Global Citizen and iHeart has been partners with him for
years and FIFA, now how more worldwide can you be?
A dollar from every ticket sold to the FIFA Club
World Cup twenty twenty five matches in the US this
(05:48):
summer will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
How you like that? That's awesome. They were reasonably one
hundred million dollars for this thing, and FIFA Global Citizen
Education Fund is such a great idea. And I remember
when soccer we'll call it first started becoming somewhat hot
in the US, and of course Danielle was all over
(06:08):
it like stinking the cat.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Boss, stinking the gay. That's because I live with the
soccer craziness in my house. It's football craziness in my ouse.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
It's fantastic. Now I have more and more friends, our
friends that come forward to they are such big, huge
Napoli fans. And we have my other friend Chico. He
loves anything from South America or Mexico, you know, those
those teams. It's such a wonderful global thing. Yep. And
to be able to merge it with Global Citizen, an
(06:38):
incredible organization as well. It's this is a cool thing.
I think football, soccer is a great thing for all
of us, for the entire world.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
As growing up as a kid in the Bronx, we
didn't have soccer. We didn't have football. We played baseball,
play basketball, you know, played you know, you know, that's it.
We This was not we There wasn't a thing. You
didn't take soccer lessons, nothing like that. Now it is
so amazing how it is taking over. I'm finally being
embraced and giving. It's given its day and I love
it so much. It's wonderful. And they're actually bringing American
(07:07):
football to a lot of the European countries now, I know,
the UK just started getting American football, you know. So
it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, I love what's going on here. It's so cool,
it's a positive. It's a great thing. So by the way,
as I said, I announced that halftime on the thirteenth
of July will be j Balvin and Thames and who
is Theodoga
