Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Yeah, I had dinner with some friends last night. Another
friend joined us at the table for a little while.
We're talking about Thanksgiving. What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Where are you going? What are you doing? And he
has this look in his face where his all of
his joy in life just melted off his face like
a melting candle when I brought up Thanksgiving, because he's like,
I'm having it with my family. What's wrong with that?
(00:27):
He said, it's just always always drama. And I said, well,
you're I'm thinking, actually, you're not alone. Some people I
have to get together with him. They are my relatives,
and I have to sit there and take it and
be okay, I mean I would, I guess I'm I'm
very lucky. I never grew up with that in my life,
(00:48):
and I refuse to have a Thanksgiving with anyone I
don't have a Thanksgiving with. Yeah, sometimes you don't have
that choice, right, Yeah, right of holiday fights at the table,
politics will be number one this year, I'm assuming. Yeah,
family dynamics, past grievances, can't get over it, right, past grievances,
past grievances, that would be another another fight that we
(01:11):
passed at the table. Relationships and finances.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, finances, Yeah, don't use phrase monstrous exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Don't use phrases like that wife of yours is why
you don't have any money. Don't use that at the
Thanksgiving table.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
What if they bring them when like you can't stand,
like you're like, why are you still one of that person?
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
I don't know. This is why it's like Thanksgiving should
be a joyous, wonderful thing, but so many people maybe
not maybe not you, but so many people do dread it.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
It's funny because it's supposed to be about all your
blessings and like thanking, you know, being thankful.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
People want to just throw meshed potatoes at each other.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Pie comes flying. I actually have a handful of friends
who are doing Thanksgiving by themselves this year because they don't.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Want to fight with family members. A yeah, I want
to get along.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Hey, if you know it's the possibility, you know, don't
go down that road. Yeah, you know. I have a theory.
Speaker 6 (02:12):
I'm sick for the last few days, so I was
alone that entire time. My theory is this, I think
the reason people are dreading Thanksgiving is because you are
being forced to be with other people. Yeah, but then
they we're spending so much time alone, right, it's like
I want to leave my little comfort zone, which really
isn't that comfortable because you're lonely. But then you're in
this situation where you have these other people and their
(02:32):
different opinions, and boy, you just don't even want to
go there with some of those people.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Another dynamic is families. You know, you have en laws,
but you have a couple they're married. Yeah, okay, do
we go to my parents or do we go to
your parents? Yep? Sometimes they have to do both and
they end up eating twice day.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
And you were at my mom's house longer than you
were at my house, like with my family, like you know,
but I never had that album because you know, my
mother in law and everybody they live in England or
in France, you know. So it's like and that's a
way to do it unless we went there to visit
like a couple of days after the holidays, and we
never fought over that stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
And Thanksgiving over there is a big deal. But Christmasy,
I know. But one day your sons will be married,
then the decision will have to be made and you're
gonna win that, are you.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
I'm just I would like equal time, that's all.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
We don't usually have big fights, but I hate having
to explain myself to extended family. So it'll be like, oh,
how long have you guys been dating ones? Are you
gonna put a ring on it? Like it's something that
I'm longing for and begging for and it just hasn't happened.
I'm like, this is so weird. Don't you want kids?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
You should do that?
Speaker 7 (03:39):
No?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Oh god, no, yeah. I remember on Thanksgiving where they
wanted to know why I had a hole in my
ear lobe.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
Okay, okay, did.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
You get it piercing? Yes?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Mother?
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Oh dag god o Lord and those other Thingsgivings early.
So I want to bring a girlfriend to Thanksgiving?
Speaker 5 (04:06):
What'd you say to that?
Speaker 2 (04:07):
I'm sure I can find someone inquired that would love
to come.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Have you seen like the Thanksgiving packages that people are
selling online where it's like, for two hundred and fifty dollars,
I get one plate of food and I'll be nice
to you and kiss you.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
In front of your family.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
For five hundred dollars, I get two plates of food,
and I will compliment you and talk about our future together.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Oh wow, it was my rent to gay, my rent
to gay idea. You know people are doing it.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, find a nice, good looking gay guy, say it's
your boyfriend, it's your beard, rent a gay. I don't
know what's up, scary.
Speaker 8 (04:43):
You know, even though our entire family all disagrees politically
that none of that at all pals in comparison to
what the what the holidays about for us now, and
that is togetherness, especially since I lost my.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Mom last year.
Speaker 8 (04:56):
So you know, Thanksgiving and holidays have become more important
as I've grown older, to spend more time with these people.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
So yes, people put we put out differences aside. We
don't talk about that stuff. And yeah, we're happy to
be there and you should and that's good, you know,
and I'm sure you were somewhat happy even before your
mother passed away. Of course.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Wait, I love bringing that up to the table, the
like you know, if Dad was here, you know what
he would say to this, And I dropped the bomb
and walk away.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
There you go, Hello, Stephanie. Hi, So you're planning on
turning your Thanksgiving with your family into something really fun
and festive, right, yes, I am.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I am going to announce my third pregnancy.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Nice. But they should be happy about.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
That now, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, they'll be very happy.
So I want to announce it on Thanksgiving just because
it's just like scary just said, at the time of togetherness,
and I don't think we should stress about politics or
anything like that. We should have some fun, happy, joyful moments.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I know you should. But even after you make it
the big announcement and then they go into the political fight,
what about my baby?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
What are you doing?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah? Just you know what, that's great reasons to celebrate
right there at the table, you're bringing them a third
Congratulations to you, Stephanie. Thanks for teleask before you Am.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
I the only one that dresses up like as a turkey?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Hold? Thank you very much, Stepanie.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
You what, I have a turkey onesie that I wear
every Thanksgiving to Thanksgiving because it's cute and it's comfortable
and then I don't have to like get dressed, so
I show up dress like every Thanksgiving I'm a turkey.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
That's kind of dark, Danielle, You dress up as the
thing you're gonna eat?
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Well, yeah, well, you know, I don't really love turkey,
so that's okay, but I do. Yeah, And my mom
used to have like a q ottle Pilgrim outfit back
in the day, and she used to she used to
wear that to Thanksgiving when she was cooking in the kitchen.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
It was so cute.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
You know.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
We like to dress up in my family.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
But it's got a vision dress up as a turkey
fighting about the presidential election. Interesting text coming through my
mother in law makes me watch to slap her with
a turkey leg? What what makes me want? Yeah? Am
(07:17):
I reading it right? Yeah, it makes me want to
slap over the turkey.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
Leb.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
You shouldn't have food fights. This is all good stuff.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
No, don't waste of food.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Come on, if we celebrated spanksgiving, that would be more fun.
We just someone pisses you off, spank a living hell
out of their hair. Yeah, look at these people texting in.
I don't want to go. I don't want to be
a part of this at all. Then why are you
doing it? People? Our families don't get along, therefore we
(07:43):
have to do two Thanksgiving. That's think two Thanksgivings. That's
not unusual at all. Deanna, what's up? Hey?
Speaker 7 (07:49):
So this is my first holiday season engaged, and my
fiance and I both are children of divorce, so we
already had trouble trying to split the time between two families,
and now we've just split the time between four families so much?
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Wait, are they at least in like, you know, close
distance to each other?
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Damn?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
What's wrong with you saying?
Speaker 7 (08:08):
You know?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
We can't do everyone? I love you all, But here's
what we have to do.
Speaker 7 (08:11):
Yeah, we're gonna have to because pay.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
After like the you know, the day after, do a
couple of things.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Yeah, go on the next thing and get all the
extra food.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Yeah that's true.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
I know even though you love him, let him go
his way, you go yours.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
And you just say we're not we're not married yet.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
True, but then what do we do when we get married?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Well then you figure it out.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
All right. Well.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
The overlying theme over the over arching theme here is God,
bless you all the best at Thanksgiving. And I'm gonna
have a good one, Thank God. IM hanging out with
people I like, yeah, and I love So it could
be the other way around.
