The Christchurch Marathon is getting an upgrade for its 50th anniversary. 

With a new course and a new naming sponsor in ASICS, next year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever. 

Race Director Chris Cox joined Lesley Murdoch to chat about the developments, and their ambitious target to have over 10,000 entries for the 2027 race.

Shining a spotlight on another Canterbury golf club. 

Kaituna Golf Club is a nine hole course just under 50km south of Christchurch, located on the Kaitorete Spit. 

It’s open all year round, and with a new irrigation system currently in progress, is in the best shape it has been for many years.

The Hawke Cup is one of New Zealand’s oldest cricket trophies, dating back to 1910, contested by district (minor) associations rather than the major first-class teams.
