Speaker 1 (00:00):
We begin with Bowls and filling in for Jason at
(00:03):
Pudock this week is the general manager of Bowls, Wellington
Blake signal morning to you, Blake.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, good morning, Adam. How are you.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm very good. Thanks thanks for jumping on board this weekend. Blake.
It's a busy time, isn't it. And well we talked
to Jason about the couple rounds of Indo Club last week.
You want to bring us up to speed with what happened.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
There, Yeah, mate, for sure. It was a really exciting
finish to the Dynasty Into Club competition. In the men's
side Division one, we had seven teams all having a
chance to make the top four playoffs at the beginning
of the day and at the end of the day
it ended up quite surprising, I suppose. So in round
(00:40):
eight we had Lyle Bay go down to nine ninet
seventeen seven, Island Bay went down to Stokes Valley fourteen seven.
Vic Boria had a big twenty two to one win
over Tawa Slimington bet Mirra Mar fifteen seven and but
Tony Central had a win over Johnsonville fifteen seven which
(01:02):
proved quite important in the final wrap up and round nine.
Stokes Valley had a big win twenty two to one
over Plymoton, but Tony Central had a huge win over
nine to Eye twenty one nil, Tawa bet Johnsonville eighteen
to five, Island Bay couldn't manage a point against Victoria,
losing twenty two nil, and Mirramar had a twenty three
(01:23):
nil win over Lyle Bay which kept them up in
the Division One. That left Victoria on top was one
hundred and thirty points. Nine Eyed dropped down to second
place on one twenty, Stokes Valley made one twenty, but
Tony Central one nineteen, and we saw Johnsonvill drop from
second place down to fifth to one hundred and seven
(01:45):
points and missed out on that top four playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Very good, tan, So yeah, how do those playoffs look like?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah? Look, so the top four playoffs this year, we've
got Victoria, nine, eight, Stakes Valley and but Tony Central
And that's really excited for Petoni Central who are brand
new up into the Division one this year. So they've
done really really well.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, great stuff. And a few teams that have dropped
down as well, I imagine. Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So we have in the relegation zone Lyle Bay and
Island Bay look like they'll be dropping down to Division
two next year. And it looks like Hats and Way
now we will be moving up into Division one. These
have to be ratified by the board. It's still to
go yet, but yes, that's what's looking like, all.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Right, okay. And the women's competition where the matches as
decisive as is some of those men's results.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, it ended up a really really close competition and
once again we had six sides that could still make
the top four at the beginning of the day with
the results. In round eight, Silverstream had a fourteen to
seven win over Johnsonville, Stokes Valley had a fifteen eight
win over Plymoton, but Tony Central had a huge win
over Upper Heart twenty three nil, Tawa fourteen Mirama seven
(02:58):
and Victoria had a win twenty four nil over nine Night,
gaining the top points there. And in round nine, Johnsonville
had another big win twenty two to one over Tawa,
but Tony Central had a fifteen to seven win over Victoria,
Plymington won fourteen eight over silver Stream, Stokes Sally had
a big win twenty three nil over Upper Heart, and
(03:21):
nine n I had a seventeen seven win over Mirrima. This
led Stope Sally to top the table for the first
time in the club's history on one hundred and fifty
eight points, followed by Johnsonville and one thirty four Victoria.
One fifteen and a countback was required to find the
fourth place between be Tony Central and Silver Stream, and
(03:43):
but Tony Central took that spot. Was one hundred and
six points and fourteen wins over the season compared to
Silver Streams one hundred and six points and thirteen wins
over the season.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Wow, it's a tight stuff fan. So, yeah, playoffs and that.
So you mentioned the top four the.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yeah, so that was Stokes Valley, Johnsonville, Victoria and Betony Central.
So it's going to be pretty cool. We've got three
clubs that has teams in both playoffs for the men
and women. So it's going to be big days for
those clubs and we wish them all the best. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Great. What about some of the promotion relegation there before
it's completely signed off.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
We haven't signed off on the women's promotion relegation just yet,
so I'd rather just leave that as it is at
the moment.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
No, no worries. Blake bll. We'll get that when it's
all ratified and in the system, and it is a
favorit of rip stuff happening both in Wellington and around
the North Island at the moment, Blake, you want to
bring us up to speed with some of the results.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yeah, for sure. Look you know at the moment in
Wellington we're hosting Taranaki, Wanganui, Manoitu, Hawke's Bay gives them
wire Rappa Capiti and of course theirselves in the octagonal
tournament that's been played for the men at Johnsonville and
for the women at nine I and yesterday we saw
our fox plan. Wellington men have a fantastic start to
(05:04):
the competition with eight wins from eight matches, so they
have hit the table very very well. At the moment
we have Wanganui coming in in second place with six
and a half wins and Taraniki in third place be
four and a half wins. There's still five rounds to
go in this competition, so it's going to be a
big moving day today for it and a big match
(05:25):
for the Wellington men today playing Wonganui in the second round.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, great stuff, and there's some the hexagonal event up
and Tanaduck. You tell us about that one.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
I bet I better not forget the woman for the sorry.
So yeah, the Wellington woman unfortunately didn't have the best
start yesterday. So they've had three wins in a draw
yesterday and Kapitdi has quite surprisingly come on top of
the table here with seven wins out of eight matches yesterday,
(05:55):
followed by Gisbon East Coast. So that competition, like I say,
there's five rounds ago, so that will be quite exciting
to see how that goes for the rest of the weekend.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, good stuff, right, I'll let you let you talk
about the other events.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Now, yep, for sure. So we've got the Hexagonal competition
which has been held up in Taranaki and this is
for our one to eight year players. This is involving
similar teams to what we have in the in the
local one. It's the Octagonals tournament. So we've got Taranaki, Wanganui, Manowitu,
(06:31):
Hawkes Bay, Kapadie and Wellington Plane in that. So we've
got two quite young teams I suppose head up there
and that's going to be really good to see how
those players perform in the In the representative players, So
it's really good to see.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Great hear and also good news for for Dale Rainer
up in Gisbane.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah no, it was actually Karen Gilford sorry, so yeah,
so we had the Aotero Maury Bowls up in Gibsbon
last weekend and we actually had a huge group of
Wellington players that participated in that event. They headed up
there and I think they had a record sixty eight
teams playing in that competition this year, which is just
absolutely fantastic. In Karen Gilford from Johnsonvall Bowling Club. They're
(07:16):
almost like twins Dale and Karen. They were able to
win the competition for the second year in a row
Karen and her team, so that was really really good
to see. And I believe there was another team from
Johnson Viall that did really well in the consolation event.
So no, it's really really cool to see our players
going off around the country and doing really well.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah, great, great to hear. Awesome to have some success
like that and continuing of it too. Hey well Blake,
great to catch up. Thanks for jumping in on board
to bring us up to speed with everything happening this morning,
and enjoy your weekend in the sunshine.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, well do mate. It's a great, great weekend from
Bowl and yeah look forward to hearing Jason back from
Australia next week.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
