Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's got a club cricket heading into the day. Matt
Wilson back with us from Cricket Wellington. Morning to you, Matt,
morning Adam.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
How are we going?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Yeah, I'm good. Thanks week as flying by, so we're
here for some cricket again. And obviously, Matt keeping our
fingers crossed that the rain we've had the last few
days I won't make too much of an impact on
proceedings today. But let's look back on last week first
of all, Matt, obviously we were building up this time
a week ago to finals day of the women's premiere
T twenty competition. There was a final round then that

(00:28):
was the afternoon final at the basin after that. How
did things pan out?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah? Very well. It was, of course, as anyone was
in Wellington last Saturday, a very humid day, very hot
one and not something we used to I think it
was about twenty seven to twenty eight degrees, so yeah,
very warm one for our cricketers out there last weekend.
But it was a frantic morning with of course three
teams in the running for that T twenty final for
the women North to Toni and Johnsonville. As it turned

(00:56):
out it was Patoni and North that snuck through at
the expense Johnsonville into that final in the afternoon at
the Chollo Basin Reserve, and what was a fantastic game
of cricket between two teams that have been at the
top of that division for the last couple of years,
and the game certainly reflected that in many parts. It
was in the end of North City victory. They won

(01:17):
the game by forty seven runs. Batting first, they made
one hundred and twenty two for four and in reply
they bowled Patni out for seventy five. So a fantastic
win for North City and congratulations to the club there.
I know for the last couple of years they've been
knocking on the door for the silver wear, with Patoni
sort of dominating in that regard over the last couple

(01:38):
of seasons, so they'll be wrapped to get get one
over their rivals. So yeah, good win for North City
and fantastic to see them finally get one over the
team in blue.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, great, congratulations to them indeed, and women's action continues today,
Matt the forty over resuming again.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, that's right. If anyone remembers, we did have a
bit of a split earlierans season with two two rounds
of the forty overs getting played and amongst that T twenty,
so we resume that. Today it's on to round three
of that forty over competition and we start with City
Suburbs and Upper heartback games being played at Kilbernie Park.
Number three to Tony against North. So a quirk of

(02:18):
the drawer of the two teams from the final are
straight back against each other today in the forty overs.
That's at to Tony Wreck. So that should be a
good one between those two, no doubt. P Tony wanting
to get one over them after last week and Johnsonville
they're up against Collegians. That one's at Anderson Park. So yeah,
forty over cricket today for the women and that will
be the case now through to the end of the season.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Wonderful, all right, and across in the men's competition. You
bring us up to speed with Division one.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Matt, Yeah, sure. So today we move on to day
two of the first two day rounds in Division one
and two. So in the Pesce Cup we start at
Nionville Park, so that one onslower. You've got to say
in the driving seat there they're currently two hundred and
thirty two to Devan Vishvaka. He's in a vain of

(03:03):
form for Onslow at the moment. He's currently not out
on one hundred and twenty one, playing some fantastic cricket
with the bat. Karori had previously posted two hundred and
forty eight all out, so Onslow only sixteen runs off
first innings lead there so as I say in that
driving seat, but Krori did have skipper Kevin Wesenderder. He
made one hundred on day one, so a couple of

(03:26):
good innings with a bat there onto the game at
Kilburney Park, Eastern Suburbs against Upper Heart East in command
of that one they bowled up out for one hundred
and ninety three. In reply they made two hundred and
twenty six, so with a small lead but our first
innings lead nonetheless, And in the second innings Upper Heart

(03:46):
are currently twenty three for two, having lost a wicket
on the second to last ball of day one, so
that one firmly in East hands and they'll hope they
can get out there today and perhaps finish the job off.
But Upper Heart will hope that the rain probably hangs
around or they can hold on and in the third
game they're out at Fraser Park. It's tighter against Hut District.

(04:09):
Hut District had made three hundred and four all out
on day one, so a pretty good batting performance from them.
They're and Tighter currently and a little bit of bother
at seventy eight for four, so quite a bit of
work for Tighter to do in that one, and Hut
currently in charge of that game.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
They're in Division one awesome stuff and Division two yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
And haslet's evenly poinsone, you'd probably say. At Calbourn Park.
Vic Uni are currently one hundred and twenty six for
four in their first innings. Last week Johnsonville had made
three hundred and thirteen for six declared, so j Vill
probably maybe slightly ahead in that one, but fairly evenly
poised between the two. North City they are against Potoni

(04:52):
last week Patoni batted first they made three hundred and
forty and North are currently two hundred and nine for four,
so quite a few runs in that one, and again
pretty evenly poised in the hazlet and finally to brian
Heath Park and Wainui Wanui and Marta. They're currently two
hundred and two for four. They have already established their
first innings lead over nine I who were bowled out

(05:14):
for one hundred and sixty three on day one. So yeah,
some good games to carry on for day two today. Again,
that weather could have a big impact though on how
those finish up, so we'll have to wait and see all.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Right, well, we'll watch with interest, including the forecast. Matt
appreciate that this of course as well Super Smash finals
continue all weekend at the Basin as well, so busy
weekend for cricket right around the region. We'll chat next week, Matt,
appreciate your time as always, no worries.
