This one's been heated. Over the past two weeks. We
have been on the search for some great pies across
mid Canterbury. In the end, hundreds of votes twenty four
local pies suggested across eleven local stores and outlets, only
one can be crowned. The best time to find out

how the pastry has crumbled. Which is going to be
the best in mid Canterbury. I've got a number to call.
I should probably know it off by heart now because
it is a number that I may have called earlier

with some very exciting news. Mate. That tame Red Devon
pie that stopped at the Mount Summer Store. It is

we get out of them, mate. By I mean not
that it really came as any great surprise. You were
leading the charge at the halfway point going into.

As the votes have finished, you paulled just shy of
fifty percent forty eight points something or rather percent of
the total votes. So there's either a massive cult following
here or you've got an enormous star working on farm.

I was thinking about EA this morning. Atually they do
an awesome job keeping our pair on and you know,
especially with all those high winds we've just had recently,
so yeah, it's really appreciated. But I think the big

shout out Luke must go to Sims Bakery actually, because
they make our pies to our recipe and obviously with
our beef and those guys they work extremely hard, like
they start work at one o'clock in the morning just
to do the baking, ready to fill the shelves around
Ashburton every day. And yeah, and we can complicate their

lives by expecting them to make our pies as well.
So they're busy enough as it is without that.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
So we did mention earlier in the week the good
stuff that goes into these pies and it takes testing
panel from EA Networks gave at Top Marx there as well,
and it seems though like it's a bit of a
hidden secret. A few people I've talked to in town
have gone, Really I haven't heard of those before. Stopped
at the Mount Summer Store. Do you have expansion plans?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Well not at this stage. That will depend on Sim's Bakery.
The poor buggers busy enough as it is to make
a whole lot more. But yeah, it was just a sideline,
just really just to promote the beef. And yeah, we
believe in our beef.

So I hope that the store is well stocked into
this weekend. Mate, look forward to catch up a little

third between the Sims brisket and Jalapeno, and then out
of nowhere, in the past couple of days, the Sims
Potato Top has snuck in there as well, but I
guess just a testament to how lucky we are right
across mid Canterbury with so many yummy pie options. Let's
