Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yesterday we heard a bit from Dana Galloway from The
Parenting Place on screen time how much is too much? Well,
she's back and something else. I wanted to touch on
the facts that it's kind of on the rise in
the hout and household. We've recently got young ellis her
own iPad to watch Cocamellen and whatnot on, namely because
I wanted the TV back for myself. But I have
(00:23):
noticed that maybe she's spending a little more time on
it than we would like. Is this something that we
need to keep tabs on? Galloway?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
I think the first thing you know with that iPad
is I would call it the family iPad. This is
the family iPad, and it's not more control.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Well, I've ballsed up from the get go there, No, you.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Can go back and you can change it. It's all good.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I'm the referee here and.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
A lot of it comes to modeling, and this is
where we can find it hard. You know, Like I've
got an eight year old and a six year old,
and i can't be enforcing staff if I'm like on
my phone and not putting it down and not having
some good housing. Oh I know, I know, but it's okay.
You know, there's no such thing as perfect parents. So
we're all figuring this out as we go along. And
the thing is, you know, if we actually go, oh,
(01:12):
we don't quite have things shut up well, you know,
we don't have good allocated time slots or you know,
mountdowns have got out of control. We can always do
a reset. And in this course that we've just put
out at Pearenting Place Digital Parenting, we talk about having
like a family. Who are we are sitting down and
talking about, you know, how screens are being used in
(01:33):
our home and as a family, what do we stand for?
Are we are outdoorsy family? Are we a competitive family?
So we want our digital life to be complimenting our
home life rather than complicating.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
It neat and where can we go and find that?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So if you go along to our website, it's Parenting
Place stopped in bed and right on the front page
there there is a link and go and have a lot.
There's so many different modules and things that are covered.
Now the course is eighty dollars, but I've got a
code for you, Luke.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Now to sound like an infomercial, kids wouldn't know what
they are.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
But wait, there's more then you get. You get twenty
percent off. So it takes a course of sixty four
dollars and that fella took the thirty first of October.
And we're a charity. We come alongside parents. We help
parents across also and caregivers and grandparents and we're really passionate,
you know, to make sure that you know kids are
safe and that parents are feeling confident they've got the
(02:24):
tools they need. So yeah, kick it out for sure.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So what's the code.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Twenty now in ow So that gives you twenty percent
off And if anyone's listening and they're going through hard
times financially, maybe you've got a community service card. We
come alongside you as well to get in touch with
Even with that code, it's still out of your price range.
We really want to help to give you the tools
you need.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Right on, there's some school holiday homework for the big kids. Hey,
it's super quick, Danny Galloway. We're on the hunt for
the best playground in mid Canterbury, all thanks to our
friends to add Ea Networks. You've got we regrets. So
you'd been a bit of time at these what do
you think makes a great playground. Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
We're always on the hunt for a new playground to
check out, and we've got a whole bunch of favorites.
But I think of playground, you know, where you can
take the scooters, where there's no climbing, where there's some
grass for a kick around, where there's trees you can climb.
I love a playground in a whole area that you
can actually take a picnic and you can be there
for a couple of hours. That's a huge tick for.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Me, big time. Mate. If there's decent seating for the
parents where you've got full advantage, but you don't really
need to move, you know, you can just find your
perch and just stay there and the kids run over
whenever they're hungry or thirsty, and that's you, I know.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
And if there's a coffee shop two minutes away and
actually have a little break, let's go get a coffee,
Let's go get a little thing to eat and come back. Yeah,
round two, let's hit the playground again big time.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Hey, Well, I'm going to up the anty real fun
challenge that have set myself this weekend as we search
for Mcnennerbury's best playground, and I'll share this in a moment,
but as for now, I really appreciate your time. Danny
gall Away, have a wonderful weekend.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
HI, thank you always a pleasure.
