Speaker 1 (00:01):
This Friday, Hampstead's School adding the roads to the event
center for the show Hempstead Roadies, which is super exciting because,
if I'm not mistaken, it's the first time that Hempstead
has put on a full scale production like this, an
original show that was created by one of the teachers
and also some past pupils that was put together. I
think about term one and then been piecing it together since.

(00:22):
The show taking us on a whirlwind and exciting journey
around New Zealand and along the way, showcasing some wonderful
aspects of culture, scenery, and wildlife. Four students were chosen
to lead the adventures Jayler, Ashton, Emily and Tyler, who
I was lucky enough to sit down with yesterday and

(00:43):
started by asking Ashton about his role in the play.
Which role do you play?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Noah, He's like very energetic. Yeah, he's just like all
over the place.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
You're the one that Dad threatens to turn the car
around to go home on Sure. What are you looking
forward to most from the show?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Like seeing everybody do something in it?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I hear this as a whole school production. How
many kids are involved? About three twenty three hundred and twenty.
So each class has a role in the show. How
does that work?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
They're all like the different towns and places we go to,
so they'll have a like a performance like each place
we go. He's like Stuart Island, It's like the kiwis Auckland,
it's the sky tower.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
What's the attraction for Ashburg?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
The hour Hour Reserve?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Goodness knows, there's many adventures to be head out. The
Deputy principal Sereer grieves, saying it's been so called watch
students and teachers putting their hearts and souls into preparing
this adventure. To say that we're so proud of the
immense talent would be an understatement. That's pretty neat a.
So two shows eleven am and six thirty pm on Friday,

(02:01):
and thanks to the generous support of the likes of
the Bread Rivers Trust, many of the school community heading
along for free. If you're keen to join them, there's
still some seats available. Ask about those tickets at the
office and all the best to the school. That must
be a big green room at the back of the
events center. There full dress rehearsal tomorrow and then we're

(02:24):
into it. Good luck

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
