Speaker 1 (00:01):
Jason Ricard is back in morning.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Morning.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Look how you're good. You're looking healthy. Considering a big
night last night, Oh no, a big not.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
We did sneak down, had dinner with the Hammers after
their training last night. It was we're welcome and welcomed
Din as a board member. And they were celebrating Tom
Ricky's fiftieth game this weekend. And it's pretty neat, it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Was he presented with golden boots.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Not quite golden boots, but he did.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I've been planning the seed all week.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
He got presented with his jersey playing jersey, which is awesome.
And they've been sounds like they've been doing on Friday
nights when they've been away for the other guys that
have made that mile stone, so real cool for Tom.
I was involved in the coaching renks when Tom first
came down to mid Kenner Rees. So one of the
other coaches, Sean Cutent's, had had a bit to do
with Tom and got him in for that season. And

(00:51):
then he moved down to Mefin with his family, which
is real cool. Yeah, played a heap of foody for
me f and now and sort of become a local.
So it's a great story.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I see a bit of movie somebody else who's celebrated
that half ton milestone as Nathan McCloy, but sad to
see that an old injury has fled up for him.
So that means tom tomorrow is stepping into the first
five eighth.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, he moving in one. I actually had a chat
to Nathan two. I don't think he's too bad. I
think just being precautionary going into next week.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Really, but you have to. Yeah, when we've signed up
that top spot and we've got that home semi final
locked in, although not to say that tomorrow isn't going
to be spicy. So we welcome the Old Golds North
Otago to the showgrounds. There are five wins in a row.
There's third on the table. Isn't an incredible quick side note?
Jesson brickatt that there's just three points separating second to seventh. Yeah.

(01:40):
I was on this Heartland ladder.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And and you think about how we've tracked along the season.
There's been teams pulling away, but in the back half
of this competition, everyone's been beating everyone. Yeah, so quite interesting.
And I did see some scenarios on something I was
looking at yesterday and you're exactly right. Second can end
up outside of the top four easily. They could end up.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Six nuts, isn't it. Yeah? A bit of funny sort
of background here at the radio station, we've got this
partnership with Mid Canterbury Rugby, so we run ads, you know,
encouraging people to get to the games, and we sort
of needed to put the ad in for next week,
you know, advertising the semi final. But can you say no,
I won't be able to let you know until Monday
over up against incredible it is so North Otager. They'll

(02:24):
want to win to obviously lock up a final four spot.
But what makes tomorrow Interac having that home semi locked
in you sort of think it's a bit of a
dead rubber, but no, because the hand and shields on
the line.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Hand and shields on the line, and look north of
Targo that for them it's really important, Like we have
locked the home semi in right, but North of Targo
will be coming up here. Aid like to say to
when the mighty shield the hen and shield and then
b that are we looking to secure a sek and
so they get a home semi because you know it's
harder than people think to travel away, right, they can

(02:58):
get a second then they get a home semi and
then they'll be thinking crocket. It's not even if Mid
Canterbury win next week, it's not that far for us
to come up the raid rather than travel throughout the country.
It makes all of those things just fraction easier. They'll
be also thinking, you know, if they can do that,
then they'll get their supporters buses up here and all
that sort of thing. North Tago got a fantastic supporters

(03:19):
club and get right in behind the team.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I'd love to see them.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, it's good fun. That good fun.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, So we need to get our supporters at the
showgrounds tomorrow. It's a two five kick off, although if
you're happen to be out of the area, it's live
on sky Sport, which is pretty neat. It's also the charity.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Game it is yep, it's a big day for Mid Cannerby.
The Russian family have put a huge effort into well jed,
particularly with Mid Cannerby rugby, but then both clear and
ged and the meningitis space and unfortunately for them and
their family they had a real tragedy number of years ago.
But what they're doing for meningitis across New Zealand is outstanding.

(03:56):
They were presented a couple of jerseys last night too
at the team so pretty national time. Really in tough
but interesting listening to Gen comment on that and what
they've actually managed to achieve and getting under five year
olds vaccinated and now it's just huge step I think
I think he was creating. There's been five cases in
the last wee while and unfortunately three of them haven't

(04:18):
haven't made it through. So yeah, it's real tough going.
But yeah, so every bit of money that's put over
the gate tomorrow, you know, is going towards meningitis, and
the first time this season that there is, you know,
effectively a gate charge, but it's for it's a donation really.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
One of all. And the auction for the playing jerseys
where they've got the horizontal strips, So Kenny's telling me
I should probably look at the forward pack to get
something that's a little larger for my expending dad bodh jeev.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
My wife wild telling me I'm allowed to wear stripes
like that. Yeah reason, but yeah, no, they're always well
sort of after those jerseys and they look fantastic. They
look awesome. So yeah, they're all. Every one of them
is up for auction, So get your bids in and let's
raise some money for a great.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Cause, big time, and we'll see you down at the
showgrounds tomorrow afternoon. Cheers, Jason, regards,
