Speaker 1 (00:02):
Too right, it is said today the big dance is
at the ashboot and Showgrounds. The Maids Cup Final is
EMC Hemmers take on the team's very swamp Foxes, the
repeat of last year's Grand Final. Helping pull it all
together is Kenny Edison from mid Kenniby Rugby. Mate, I
feel like hemma fever is starting to sweep the region.

(00:23):
Can you fail it?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah? We can.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We felt out at the weekend in the semi final,
and I know Matt and the coaches had certainly talked about,
you know, the benefit that the boys feel when everybody's
there supporting them, and we certainly felt that.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I think the crowd roared them home.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
For the last five minutes of that that game against
y Bush And yeah, just driving around town, you can
still see, you know a lot of the shop fronts
and all sort of dressed in their green and gold
and people around town wearing the march and their jerseys
and things like that.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
So it's awesome. It's really cool.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
The best way to back to Heims is of course
to be there. So what do we need to know?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Two or five kickoff at the showgrounds on Saturday. We're
hoping that the weather's going to be good again this week.
Still doing ten dollars at the gate for adults under
sixteens free and if you're bringing the car coming via
bruce Field, have and we'll get you into plenty of
parking spaces. Our lovely lines ladies will be there working
with us as well, doing their very best.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
We'll be busy, yeah, they will be busy.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Look, we're expecting it to be really busy, and so
the earlier you can get there, come and get a
seat in the grand stand over on the bank and
then soak up the occasion. We'll have the merch store
open early on Saturday as well, got about the midday.
So again that's landed really well with the community.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
So there's a few things left.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
There's not too much, but we've got a few hoodies
and a few caps and some of the mid Canoby
socks which have gone blooming well this year.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
So business time and the socks. Do you have any
toddler side stuff?

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Now, we sold out.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
We did a small amount just to see what it
would look like, but it went pretty quickly, so there's
a little bit of that's a little bit of marketing
insight for me for next year. It was a little
bit of concept selling this year, but it's been it's
been great. As I say, it's nice to see people
wearing mid Cannibury colors. We've had pictures sent to us from.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
All over the world.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Family out in Perth sending us in Australia. Their pictures
are a Western Force game earlier in the year with
their mid Canterbury tops on and you know, on the
live stream we're seeing people dialing in from the Gold
Coast watching the games and Ozzie and a couple of
guys in the UK. So it's been fabulous and it
tells you that the support for the team is strong

(02:29):
and it comes from all parts of the globe, which
is super appreciated.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Scott must be stouts because they haven't had to move
their track in about three weeks.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Yeah, it's been pretty handy between them and guys that
are coming to paint the field and all those cool things. Yeah, yeah,
it was. It was great to see that extra logo
on the field and we'll have that again this week.
Your right Sky will be there will be live streaming
again through Facebook with Asha and his team.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
And yeah, it's exciting.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
You know, we'll a representative from the Meads family to
come and present the trophy.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
If there's any special guests, yeah, yeah, minutes to coming.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Right, Why we might have the new mayor. She might
be on handle Liz.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
But yeah, of course the New Zealand Rugby are invested
in this as well, so no doubt we'll see some
of some of the guys from New Zealand Rugby down.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Hopefully we'll see Steve.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Lancaster there and I think Matt Cooper, the New Zealand
Rugby president, is going to be coming down. So it's
going to be a day for all and I think
that's a really important thing. As I said, this team
has done a great job of connecting itself to the
community and and the boys know where they're from as well,
and they know who they're representing, and I'm sure they
would love to lift a trophy in front of their

(03:40):
home fans this weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Would be one hake of an occasion. Credit to yourself
and the time at mid Canibury Rugby, because I could
imagine that there's a lot going on behind the scenes
to make this happen.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
There is there is Yeah to Nathan who's just come
on board with us to Kirsty and Jack and to
the board as well. We've just had a board meeting
for thing this morning just to try and get through
all the logistics. So it's a huge amount of effort,
don't get me wrong, but you know, this is why
we're involved in the game as well.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
It's an awesome game.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
And as I said to you earlier Welfare, you know,
there's often too many negative stories connected with rugby, but
there's a lot to be really thankful for and in
terms of the game and when you're putting the work
in and you see everybody enjoying themselves on a Saturday
and the players getting out of it what they want
and the community getting a lift, then in tough times,
things like rugby can make a massive difference.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
So we love doing it.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
So Bread of Fellers. They talk about the Melbourne Cap
being the race that stops a nation, I would say
this is the game that will and truly stops the district.
So bring on the show, stop it. That is going
to be the Meads Cup Final on set today. I
can't wait to see you they can it

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Blowing awesome, Go the Hammers
