Speaker 1 (00:03):
We're working on Methan Central, which is the much anticipated
replacement for our beloved Mefin House, which has been serving
the residents of the village for over one hundred years.
Used to be a maternity care home and then adapted
for that. The aptly named meth In Central is going
(00:24):
to be right in the heart of the village and
helping pull this together the Mefin Care Trust. Mandy me
dropped by to share in some of the exciting dates.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
So we have ten residents in the rest home at
the moment and three in the Mefin House flat in
this Methin Central Retirement Village is going to offer twenty
twenty something twenty six twenty six places.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Wow, that's a big step at that's over doubling, you know.
But so that.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Includes independent Livene which is the sex apartments which are
from people that are pretty didn't want to have a
lock up and leave kind of lifestyle. And then within
the Kea Home we've got twenty beds and five of
those for assisted Levin or the Kia suites in fifteen
are Ka Home. I have a distinct feeling that they'll
(01:16):
feel like they're in a hotel for a week. While
at the moment they don't have on suites, they'll have
little kitchen nettes. I haven't seen a bigger kea home room.
I've worked in health for a long time and Methin
Central is really something quite special.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
So we're quite close to Cauptain the ribbon on this side.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yes we are. We're aiming for November wow.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
And of course, just like any wonderful project, it's come
with a bit of a price tag which we're edging
our way toward. And there's an exciting campaign a foot
to help essentially get us to the finish line here,
yes there is.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
So we're working on the Audrey one oh one challenge
and this has been inspired by Audrey Lily, a much
loved member of the Methin community. She is going to
walk one hundred in one laps with her friends to
raise one hundred and one thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
At least whose idea was this, So it really.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Came from some inspiration from the campaign that Kept and
Tom did in the UK for NHS. They raised thirty
seven million dollars.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
In COVID day thirty seven mill geez. She's getting a
bit of preparation and how's she preparing for this? Well,
I heard that.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
She slightly sawn the other day, so you have to
go geply.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
That's okay. When there's a world, there's a way pers appearance.
So what's the plan for achieving this one hundred and
one laps?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
So we're launching a crowdfunding campaign today and we are
asking people to go online and to donate to Audrey's
campaign or if they'd like to set up their own
one oh one challenge, whether that might be walking, running, biking, golfing, cycling,
making cakes and selling them anything to support the campaign
(03:04):
is really really welcome. And at school holidays, so you know,
if you've got the kids at home and they're looking
for something to do, one of one of our teams said, oh,
I could find one hundred and one jobs for my
kids to do over the school.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
It is a genius idea.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Get grandparents and every run just like the old telethon
days to give some money to them.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
That sounds great. One hundred and one laps in the backyard.
Don't feel like you've got to rush to either kids. No,
you take all the time you need. How wonderful is that?
So the give a little page being set up as
we speak, will go and share that link on our
haw Can and We Ashburton page a little later today
