Mandy Mee - Methven House on Seven Sharp

Luke caught up with Mandy Mee from Methven Care Trust to celebrate Audrey Lilley finally making it on Seven Sharp last night, and the incredible fundraising milestone they have now achieved!!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The first bakount to meth and village send. After jinxing
it a number of times last week, finally it was
on the box last night to Audrey Lilly and the
campaign for the new Methin Central on seven Shafforn here
in nineteen twenty four, methin House is special.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
She saw the nearess going at the steps first lawn.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Home away from Home Me and to me was also
on the box morning.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
They did such a good job.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I was so impressed. And apparently Rachel and D did
a beautiful job. And apparently we struck the lottery with
D because these are well respected cameraman TV.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Oh, so he was the doody on the camera. It
was a big operation pulling it together, like a whole
day or deal.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Right, Oh it was. I was a little bit tired,
so I just you know, you can imagine Audrey was
tired as well at the end of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Big time. Yeah, her and of friends. What sort of
preparation went into welcoming the TV creage down.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Oh, the day before I just had one of the
most magical days at missin House. I sat with them
all and practiced that song and we had giggles and laughter,
and they were just so excited. Usually they'd go for
an arsenal net, quite a few of them, but by gosh,
they were getting down to that hall just take that song.
It was so lovely to be there.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Enthusiasm, the nets were forfeited all round. To be fair,
I am partial to a wee afternoon at myself, and
it was so wonderful being there as a couple of
hundred members of the community piled into the hall and
we heard we snippet of the song. I must try
and get Is there a video floating around of the
full thing that we could share on Facebook or something?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I just yeah, I wonder if we can pull that off.
I'm not sure. I just yeah, it was a little
bit tricky, you know TV. Yeah they got it all
really and yeah, I'll see what I can find that.
We definitely need to put something outsets for sure. You
can see a little snippet of the song when Audrey's

(02:07):
working walking with Sirs Barrett, who's a well known myth tonight,
and that will give you a real flavor of what
that song's all about. Seam bloody dis an amazing job.
He's the music director from Mantau College.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
He's a very talented man, that is for sure. So
we also are on the clip last night's got a
sneaky peek at the new meth In Central. It looks
wonderful and it's about double the size of the current house,
isn't that Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
It is, so is Richard Seed in the video on
the TV at the moment. Methin House the key home
has about twelve or thirteen beds, but we've got twenty
beds in the Kea Home and then we've also got
the independent living apartments beside that, so we've got twenty
six places for hours.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, it's going to be so good. Have you got
an opening date yet?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
We're looking at the Meath and House residents coming across
to Meathan Central end of November at the stage just
subject to order and compliance, you know how all that goes.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah, So this campaign ready to get the project over
the line with the final one hundred and one thousand dollars.
The signs on TV last night indicated that we're about
halfway there, but I understand we are a lot closer
to that. Now.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Do you know what what we snuck out last night?
What is a new total on our board? Yes, over
one hundred and eight thousand dollars coming.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
We've absolutely blown the target.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Out of the water. I know. Can you believe? It's incredible?
Audrey has inspired our entire community and that missing magic
has happened.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
If that is just outstanding, I'm almost lost for words.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Oh so am I.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
It brings tears to my eyes to be honest, Audrey,
you gont home your new home, I know, And.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I just want to say this is a huge thank
to this community. This is the final piece of the puzzle.
This project has cost five million dollars, so the community
is well behind there. There's so many people that have
made this happen and huge things on behalf of me
thinking a trust and mefin house. We just could not

(04:23):
have done this without you. It's just so difficult to
identify anybody at this point in time because so many
people have given to this project and they've made it happen.
