Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the Flavor podcast Network, the Flavor Breakfast podcast with
stace A, Zorah and Charlie.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
On today's podcast, we dive deep, put into our Charlie
and his wife are not following each other online.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
And we talk you Marcel and Montoya and call you tidy.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
Also they call it enrollment fraud. It's a bit hard out.
It's just not living where you say you live in
order to go to a good school. We'll talk about
it more on the podcasting.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Everybody, Good morning, my Lord.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
The Tongue and Language week, So we need help from Charlie.
Charlie and so tongue and language was at your first
language at home?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
That is yeah, yes, correct. So I went to school
not knowing a word of English. I was that kid
are the gays? He doesn't say anything in English. So
here we go. I have to sustain the language here
at work. And now tongue and proverb for this morning,
the city bear gayha city bag. I have small buck grade.

(01:02):
This tongue in proverb stands as an encouragement for anyone
who feels they're lacking in life. Every little bit you
put into the world is considered greatness. Who you are
now with what little you have is more than enough
to start and continue your path to achieving your goals.
Nice I like city bag small Buck grade.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
City, Becker.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
City beg I beautiful, ladies, you beg I.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Okay, got it, absoluteful the beautiful.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
So we learned something every single day. Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
So there's one school that's in the news, but it's
a big issue and has been for a long time.
They call it enrollment fraud, as in lying to get
into certain schools. So the school that is in the
news at the moment is McLean's College. So they have
kicked out nine students because they have said that they

(02:00):
are not actually living in the zone which you have
to be to go to that school, and also ask
parents of seven hundred more students at that school to
prove that their kids had the right to go to
that school because they said there's a big spike in
enrollment fraud and that's been They've got the reasons why
they think it's been increased. But then you know other
schools have talked about this as well. Auckland Grammar is

(02:23):
a school in Auckland where it's actually a public school,
but you have to live in that zone and apparently well,
their headmaster has been talking about how people are renting
garages or putting phone lines into other people's homes to
look like they live there when they actually don't. Another
woman who's actually based in Hong Kong picketed outside that
school because they wouldn't enroll her son. It's all very intense.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Can I ask a question because I don't quite understand
what is the issue with enrolling into a school that
isn't in your zone?

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Like what is the negative for the school?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Because they need the people that's in the area get
the first steps? Is that right? Like the boundaries.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
I'm on a couple of school boards and so yes,
we got a zone put on to us. We didn't
want to have a zone save for the intermediate school
where I am, and so they gave us a zone.
So basically the Ministry of Education is trying to say
these are the people, this is your catchment area and
should only be in there. Sometimes you can get in
for special character or we all know special ones that
oh you're a really absolute coincidence, you're allowed in there.

(03:27):
But so it's supposed to go so that there's an
even distribution, but people get in their heads one school
is better than another, and so then they try to
get their kids into that school. They call it enrollment
fraud because they actually don't live in the zone. That
means that you automatically can go to that school, like
say Mags they you know, a lot of people want
to go there, and they're saying you can only come
here if you're in zone.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And so the reason for this is because you know,
schools can obviously only hold so much and their issues
with with there being too many students for the schools
I see, but.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Their fundings also related to how many kids you have
all of that. But you know, another thing that's hard
is that a zone will start a certain way and
then the kids in that area grow up and there's
not as many little kids, for instance, to go to
a primary school, you're right, and so then they can
open up how different kids are out of zone, and
like if you need special character, like if you need
Mardi language or something that, then you can come in.

(04:20):
But man, it's a lot of admin. But I think
we all know people who have cheated the system a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
O one Dent. I didn't even know this was a
bad thing because when my brother Sean, he went to
mags right, we stayed in Autara, but my auntie lived
in the area, so address bills everything when we went
and rolland there took that, so we were staying there.
Good athlete, he wasn't too bad, but he had the brains,

(04:46):
you know. So they looked at that and they're like, okay,
we'll take them. But then again, and he lives in zone,
and he lives in zone. But see, I was staying
in Autara again, and I came to school. I would
school out at Saint Paul's out of zone. But because
I played rugby league.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
To make it make sense, yours was an actual scholarship though,
wasn't it.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
It was a scholarship, I see, I did it, and
I also didn't see the issue with it at the time.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Clearly, I was like year nine. I did not even.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Understand why there were zones. Well, actually I only just
asked you, now, didn't I stay? But I was only
in zone for Tourco College and I didn't want to
go there anymore. The problem was is that you're not
in zone when you live that rural for any other school,
so you're It's a hard argument to have because you're
really pigeonholing students from having a choice and making them.

(05:38):
Like you said, there's certain schools that are better for sport,
for academic, for Maria learning, and for drama and art.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
So it's such a shame that you're kind.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Of pigeonholed to the school that you live near, which
is again usually a reflection of your your family's income
and economic as well, which is where I was at.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
I ended up putting my nana's a dress down so
that I could go to Pokokoy High School.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
But you did end up living there.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
I did end up living there, But yeah, I was
commission fraud for a year.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
And the other thing is the zones are weird. We're
one street off the zone for the local school and
it's really just one street.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
No.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Well, I've got one daughter who goes to the school,
but they go she goes to the Mardi side, so
it's under special character anyway. But the other thing is,
I remember when I lived in krash Church and what
school you go to was a really big deal. And
my dad wanted me to go to krash Church Girls
High which is crashchach Gus High and he got me
to apply out his own but I didn't get in,
so I went to Adanui where we lived, which, thank

(06:40):
goodness for me. Actually that was really good. So you know,
it's a thing. What of you guys had happened. We
won't say anything obviously, if you're committed. A moment for
you to remember this is, this is.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Did You can't come back. You can't come back on
this one.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I did it at two tableau. It's huge debate. I
feel like I understand, but then they don't understand. It's
really hard often about money. We're talking about in zone
outer zone enrollment fraud.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
It's huge on the news at the moment. McLaren High
School has relayed nine. McLain High School have removed nine
students from their enrollment because of this fraud that's been committed,
and quite a few principles are thinking and looking at
crunching down on the same thing.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Well, one of the things they said is that you know,
people who live in zone and perhaps pay higher rent
or have a bigger mortgage to get their kid in
that zone. That's why they get annoyed. And it's really
supposed to be about having the right amount of students
at each school. And also then there's the issue of siblings.
If one child gets in and then the family moved,

(07:50):
then can those siblings go there?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Yeah, true, true, you guys were just going, Oh yeah, no,
we totally lied where someone loved. Oh no, yeah, we lied.
We lied that. This is probably how I got here.
And so what happened with you guys?

Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yes, more than a bianca? Have you had any experience
in this?

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Yes, My daughter was out of zone into a primary school,
so she was accepted legitly in there, and the feeder
school for that school was Holbs and ball Points Secondary.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
But they just opened, so they weren't taking any other
zone enrollment. Because she wasn't able to go with any
of her friends, so.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
She started at a different school and hated it and
it was soul destroying as a mum. So I lied
and they got her into the school with her friends.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
So what was the liepard Just about where you lived?

Speaker 7 (08:36):
Yeah, so they were really pushy about and she's just
finished school though it's probably harder now, but they're really
pushy about proof of address and stuff.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
And obviously I.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Didn't live there, so I didn't have bills that went
to that address, so I used a friend's address.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
I told them that I've lived with a friend and
they weren't.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
Super thrilled about it, but they couldn't really deny her
a place because I didn't have power bill in my name,
so they just made me have a letter written by
my friend to say that we lived.

Speaker 9 (09:01):
There and she got in.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Well, I'm glad she was happy in the end that
that did work, didn't it.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
Yeah, I mean it wasn't even a particularly good skill
to be honest.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Want wanted to I know their own opinion. It's so
annoying how they do that. Thank you very much for sharing,
because heaps of people are tecked in.

Speaker 10 (09:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
So one here says, both my teenagers go to schools
outside of his zone, and they've always applied is out
of zone since primary Blessed they both got in, so
local schools went to a standard. We've always been honest.
Myself and my brothers also went from out of zone.
We always felt we would get caught and that was stressful.
So I've just been honest this time around. Another one says, well, yep,
I work on the I have to drive to the

(09:42):
other side of Auckland for mahi every day, and so
the kids go where I work another one as a kayakle.
I've seen zone build schools up and then negatively impact schools.
Found I should have a choice, but with the population
explosion in Auckland, no one's going to win. See, having
choice is removed moved when it's like just about zone
and then only people who have the means to pay

(10:06):
can actually choose different options.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
See Like even people are saying in the Texas it's
a shame they don't have zones for club teams, you know,
like rugby league rugby because Mini South Auck can tell
minisupal content has come here. Imagine if they started at
their local club, the money and resources will start you know,
local instead of prestigious clubs.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
And on another side of that, someone says it's a
shame they have zones for education but.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Not sports lead people and you know what I mean, Yeah,
it's such a hard one. I mean the way I
feel about it, and this is purely my opinion, is
I feel like.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Kids should have.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
A choice about what school they want to go to
and about where you live. And obviously that's an ideal world.
If it's different and a clear then.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
What happened could fit.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
If everyone goes I want to go to this school
because this is the great school. Then what happens, Well.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
That's what I mean, is like that you're about that.
But I think only having one choice of school is.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Such as it's crap, it's crap. I didn't like that
I had to stay at my one and only school.
That was all I had was I had to ride
out high school at a place I was being bullied.
It kind of like, you know, Bianca's child, and I'm like,
I don't want I don't want any kids to feel
like they have to just do high school that way.
It's such a big conversation, like you said, Stace, and

(11:25):
obviously you bring in club sports and talented students and
scholarship students and it just yeah, it's there's.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
A lot to it.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
So it's a hard conversation.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Hints. I've got three kids at three different schools, because
it's like who suits what you know, that's if you're
lucky enough to be able to make a choice. But
also I do know lots of people at our school
they've they've their kids have moved, particularly in year nine
because year nine is hard. You go, oh no, this
is not me. So we're just doing our best here
and getting whipped in some cases when it comes to

(11:56):
just a little bit of twisting of the rooms.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
And joining us this morning from the one New Zealand
Warriors and one and only my slo Montoya.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
I know you're a busy man, said, thank you for
fitting us.

Speaker 10 (12:08):
Then thanks for having me on the show.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Can we call you, like friend of the show slash
colleague slash coworker out that you have a podcast with
your wifey?

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Yes, yes, okay, we're in the flavor Faro and everyone
is very excited because you know Friday is at home
game last one at what is you know, occasionally known
as Mount Smart or Go Media Stadium, but this weekend
at Sewan Johnson Stadium, isn't it.

Speaker 10 (12:35):
Yes, Yes, I just seen that yesterday. That's pretty cool
for Shawnee. You know, like everyone knows what he's done
in the Warriors jersey. So look is it's going to
be a special occasion for Sean and for his family.
You know, he's done a lot for this club and
in the game too, So you're looking forward to to
Friday night and for him and doing a good job.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
When you say you saw that, you said, did you
just see the release or is there audience signed the
JAP that sees Shawn Johnson stadium.

Speaker 8 (13:03):
I've just seen the release.

Speaker 10 (13:05):
Yes, on the Warriors page, I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Do you get any indication on what the halftime show
is going to be like? Do you have any little
inside scoop on what we might say?

Speaker 4 (13:14):
No, I don't have any ideas to you know, seeing
your podcast, you often have no ideas.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
You're very cute focused on the on the game this week.
You know this for a home game, there's a couple
of players, obviously will Sean Johnson being his last game,
but we also have Jess Havanga whill be playing last
game too, you know. So how's the boys preparation leading
to this massive game?

Speaker 10 (13:40):
Yeah? Well I thought it was a bit disrespectful. They
didn't name the stadium, you know, like where it could
have been sewn.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
And yeah, but they're known together like.

Speaker 10 (13:50):
Chez obviously, Sean Jazz, even Adam as well. So I
look as a few boys play the US the last
game in the Warriors jersey, but look the most important
one for sure, you know he's retiring. But yeah, like
you said, Charlie, we've got to make sure we we
prep well, you know, the Boardogs are playing really really good. Yeah,

(14:12):
you know, like we've got to make sure we prep
well first and foremost and then got out there and
do our jobs well because.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
You know that's what you want. You want this when
you want it really badly, don't you.

Speaker 10 (14:24):
Yes, for sure. I mean, especially after the season we've had.
It's been disappointing and it's been a frustrating one. I
look that that that's rugby league. You can't really hard
and kind of dealing it now. You know, you've got
to make sure you've got to just take politic steps forward.
So but yeah, look, I mean it's one of those
seasons we've had. But you know, every game you want

(14:44):
to win, and this one's even more important. So yeah,
we'll be up for it, for.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
Sure, love it and so the fans, don't you. Yeah
we will.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
We will be loud, we will be proud, doesn't matter
you know, whether it will be raining sunny, we will
be there and we we'll bring the vibes.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
Hey, you have a good day.

Speaker 10 (15:06):
Thanks for yours.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
There was Marcelo Montour from the one New Zealand Warriors.

Speaker 5 (15:12):
Tomorrow is going to be the nightmare last.

Speaker 11 (15:14):
All Live.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Hip Hop Mystery and look Good.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
And Today's hip Hop Mystery is all about a song
that you will know and love. Big track, So killing
Me Softly and not only made Rolling Stones list of
the five hundred Greatest Songs of All Time, it made
the list twice. The nineteen seventy three ROBERTA. Flack hit

(15:44):
En vision of this song is number two hundred and
seventy three.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
A Stranger to Ma.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Stramm Well. The Fuji's Hits from nineteen ninety six comes
in at three hundred and fifty nine, So it's the
only song on the list that appears in two different versions,
both Grammy winning number one hits. But this song wasn't
written by either of them. It was written by a
nineteen year old songwriter called Laurie Lieberman who wrote a

(16:15):
poem after going to see Don McLain, who sings American Pie,
and she felt so moved by him that he was
strumming her fate with his fingers, singing her life with
his words, that she wrote this song.

Speaker 8 (16:26):
Killing so with this song.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Song.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
So the version did go well, but the really key
moment and the moment that the fate was sealed, was
when ROBERTA. Flack heard the song playing on a plane
in the States.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
At that time.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
There was this sort of a fate.

Speaker 9 (16:48):
I like Roberto's version better, I like Laurie's version. It
was this big silly thing. Pictures in the paper of
Robert of me, and then down bill she stole my song.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
It wasn't that at all.

Speaker 9 (17:00):
She needed something I wouldn't have, you know, ever have done.
I never would have done this kind of a two
feel that she did.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
So Robertafleck had heard it on the plane and played
it a lot.

Speaker 12 (17:11):
And I listened to it about five times before the
plane landed.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
And she decided to you know, what could I do
with this song? And then she's on tour with Quincy
Jones and.

Speaker 12 (17:19):
They wanted an encore and questions said, roll do something.
I said, well, I have this new song I've been
working on. So I started in.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
A strawm in my way with his physis.

Speaker 12 (17:30):
After I finished, the audience would not stop screaming, and
questions said, role, don't sing that Dagon song no more
until you.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Record, And so she recorded it and the rest is history. Then,
when the Fujis decided to do a version in nineteen
ninety six, Prize Michael wanted to change some of the
lyrics but actually wasn't allowed. And michaeliff Jean reminds us
that doing a cover of a song has some financial implications.

Speaker 13 (17:56):
We write it, well, we performed it and it was amazing,
and we made somebody eight million dollars, right, So that
mean that whoever was the composer who wrote it was
literally sleeping in his bed and he made eight million
dollars like that, right? And then now look at how
big that version is, so that person copyright has generated

(18:21):
them millions and millions of dollars.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Damn.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
And as you can hear about his voice, doesn't even
know who it was now. So if you don't know,
now you know the story of killing myself. Like that's
your hip hop mystery.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Stays Azuah and Charlie. About a week ago celebrated my
birthday and people ask me, Charlie, how old are you?
I am this old? I am this old to a
point where I just want to stay at home, watch TV,
have some snacks and have no kids around, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 4 (19:00):
So you were actually so old that you were paying
money to be able to do.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
That one d And this is what I'm trying to say,
it's like contraception for me.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
You know.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Oh wow, I'm not kidding.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Like hearing that, I'm like, oh, paying someone to have
alone time is when you really break that down, and
someone with no kids, I'm like, that's crazy to me.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I know, that's actually crazy.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
So you did that.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
I did that, and it wasn't paying people. People off it. Okay,
let me take the kids. Yeah yeah, lucky and you
and saying you just relax.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
No, weren't you guys supposed to go to something? Yeah,
so the reason you got the baby so there was
actually we're we're messed to go somewhere.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, you had an event, yeah, but then we ended
up just chilling out because I fell asleep. Ah, you know,
but it was just nice, do you know what I mean? Like,
there are no kids, No, Ma'm wiz us. You know,
Dad can do us nothing. All we did was had
our little snacks, had some babies at home. Oh and

(19:58):
it was just a two of you, just the two
of us. And then you know, it lasted for only
about maybe an hour and a bit and then she
went into the room, went on the phone.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
I was on my phone, the really nice uninterrupted phone
time uninterrupted, and we come back together and we're just
watching TV.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
We're like, babe, this is so good.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
We need did you get takeaways?

Speaker 14 (20:18):
Nah?

Speaker 6 (20:18):
You know you know.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
That it was so good. But this is what I'm saying,
we need to normalize this as parents, you know what
I mean? Just ninety nine or let's say ninety eight
percent of the time, you know, we give old time
to our kids and to other things. That's practically evolved
o kids.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
You know that is your life revolves revolves, yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Around on kids. So when do we actually get time
to ourselves. It's really we don't really get that right Staces.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Yeah, I must have met when we went to Toy
two Dead El the Marty Language festival in Hawk's Bay
the other day. So we both flew down and we
couldn't get back until the next morning, so we stayed
the night. We see to our friends, I will catch
up that night, but low key, they were too tired
because they were organizing the whole thing, and we're like, yes,

(21:11):
just go to our hotel room.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Just us See. I love that you guys both planned
to be busy and then the reality is it's better
not having any plans. Heaven Charlie, you sleeping through the
event ended up being the best thing for you and
your wife because you've got the you got, you know,
the kids to go and be baby set for you
two to go to an event. I think you guys
should both normalize getting the kids looked after to just

(21:35):
sit on your butts and eat takeaway to home.

Speaker 12 (21:37):
Man.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
I know.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
I mean couples have date nights, but ultimate date nights.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Ultimate date nights.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
I also have the bonus prizes. Two teenagers who are
old enough to look at.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
It, Oh.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
A mountain were climbing the.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
The mountain, Charlie. Oh, no, talk to me, Charlie.

Speaker 10 (21:59):
Chattie.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
I got called out off air Flavor Fano for why
I do not put my man's, my man's, my man's
on my main Instagram story.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
I put him on my close friends. That's where you can,
you know, you can change up who you want to
see your stuff.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
You did, Charlie goes, why do you do that? Is
there a reason why you don't want anyone else to
see him? Is the way he said it stays And
I thought that's really strange coming from someone who also
doesn't post his.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Wife on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
And he went oh, yeah, true, true, Actually, we don't
even follow each other.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Bomb bom.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
What that is so weird? We don't follow each other? Yeah,
that's right. So I did know there's nothing behind it,
and I do post seeing you by the way, whether
some my stories or on my what do you call
it the grid? Yeah I do, I've seen that.

Speaker 15 (22:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
So you and your wife don't follow each other on Instagram, on.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Instagram, Facebook, social media?

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Why this is it?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
We don't follow each other because you know what, I think,
it's because it's a stubborn thing. It is no reason
to it. You're right, there's no reason to it. But
when we are sitting at home, I don't want to
ask her, like if I follow. It's just it's just
one of those things, okay, if I'm not going to
ask to leave it?

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (23:26):
No?

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Really, I mean although my husband doesn't do social media
at all, he doesn't he's not interested in it. He
thinks it's weird that you and so interested in what
other people are doing. And when I tell them things
that are happening, he goes, how do you know that
it's on social media because it's not face but ah,
and I go and so and says, you know, they're
they're you know, having a baby. Oh how do you

(23:48):
know that?

Speaker 15 (23:49):
Well?

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Yeah, but he doesn't like it, doesn't He's like, takes
up too much time, too much energy. So anyway, I
don't have the issue of going should I follow him
or not? But I do have the issue of everyone
tagging me and loe of him. So yeah, I'm doing
the Edmund for him on there. But you guys not
following each other, I reckon, it's weird. People read a
little bit into that, go, oh is everything all right there?

Speaker 3 (24:12):
You know when we talked about this, you guys are
absolutely right. Like you know, people are probably asking, hey,
what's going on here? Are they together? What's and not
only that, you know, we're for a very long time.
We have sort of chosen to not not very long time,
maybe like the last couple of years, to sort of
just a little bit private, you know what I mean,
because I'm a bit too much on social media, Like

(24:34):
I can like post stories every five ten minutes where
it's saying she's just like I wouldn't even post for
three five days a whole week. I wouldn't even care.
But then the funny thing is like even though we're
not friends on social media, She's always seending me these
like TikTok videos, this is you, and you're really like
you should do more of this list of that.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
I just think it really goes to show because you
are right, Stacea does seem a weird message in internet
language and world. When you're not following literally each other,
people will assume, oh, maybe something's going on there, but
you've never done it, do you know what I mean?
And I just think it goes to show how pathetic
social media is and how unreal it is. Because you

(25:16):
know your relationship. We know your relationship, we know that's
solid ass. So it's quite funny how a.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Lot of people base your life around that.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
I mean, you did it to me, you asked me,
is there a reason why I don't put him on
my main story?

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Except if you stopped following him, then I could lead,
I could read something into that.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
She'll just do it flavor fun.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
I'm sure we just unfollow our partners just to you know,
tip the world on its exis.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Stays Azora and Charlie.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
You can't believe it.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
We are about to win our second winner for air
Flavor now Boarding, all.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
Thanks to Jetsta. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
We had sonya, you know, last week finding out that
her and mama going where we are.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Going to the.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
They're not bed.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
She opened up the suitcase and at that point she
discovered where she was going. So you have to be
up for embracing the mystery, embracing the fun of where
you might go. Just believe.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
Okay, we read a chord.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
We're doing this.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
If your phone is ringing right now, why am I puffing?

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Well, pick up your phone.

Speaker 8 (26:33):
That's kind of hello Sarah speaking hello.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Sarah, staces around Charlie here, you have a winner for
your favor.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
No body, Sarah.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Oh my god, Sarah, Hi, are you really right now
for this mystery?

Speaker 8 (26:54):
Holiday?

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Man?

Speaker 3 (26:54):
We don't even know where you're going to do this.
Pack your bags, we don't care what's in it, own
up and you're off. I am oh my god, incredible, amazing,
thank you.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
Serious?

Speaker 4 (27:11):
Holy shivers. Have you been on holiday recently?

Speaker 8 (27:16):
We went on the family holiday about six years ago.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Wow? Yeah, So who will you take?

Speaker 1 (27:23):
My husband Corey.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Saying this with confidence. You got any kids I've got?

Speaker 8 (27:28):
We've got four to them? Oh my grandparents, yeah, grandparents
know that you.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
Well yeah, I'm just letting you know it's maybe happening.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
So, sirih you are going to come in our studio
here at Flavor tomorrow morning.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
You will pick a suitcase.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
There are three left, three different destinations that just get
star flies to.

Speaker 5 (27:55):
You will be going to one of them.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Where.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Oh okay, amazing. I'm so excited.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
I'm I feel like I'm gonna burst.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
Well you can, you can boost on into the studio
tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see you, see your congratulations.
You're ow winner of air Flavor now boarding.

Speaker 10 (28:14):
Thank you so so much, Labor, Thank you guys.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
You're so welcome.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Who tomorrow it's gonna go on, look a look at
those locations and go, hm, where could it be?

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Hey? Like they say, he's been listening to and more
when you're there, the latest celebrity goss from around the
world Wave Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Oh m god, guys, the rumors are.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
True, Todd rumors are true.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
So Jennifer Lopez, Oh it feels weird saying your full
name j Low. She's filed for divorce from being Affleck
today well twentieth August, so after.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
This is so shocking. No one could have seen this coming.
I really thought they were going Tuesday together two.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
Years of marriage and on their second wedding anniversary.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
She has now submitted the legal documents to La County
Superior Court.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Yeah, so she has also represented herself. I find it
just so awkward that.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
She represented herself.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
For proper meaning she represented herself.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
So I just find it very very bizarre because they're
obviously together twenty years ago, and then they weren't together
and they're engaed yeah.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
And the worst part is is she made that really
awkward documentary and album for like literally last year about
how much she's found the love.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Of her life, and he set the bullet, I think,
and they didn't dodge it because it took the bullet,
you know what I mean, Like it happened.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
The whole thing's very confusing. But after seeing Jaelo's documentary,
I've realized that I think maybe she's the problem. But
that's my personal opinion. Okay, I don't know anything about
these two people.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
I still love it for Selena, yeah, but we still
just know way too much about them. I Spice has
back at people who have been talking about her weight
loss and suggesting that she's taking a zempic she said,
I actually came on here online to talk about that
real quick. I wish you'll never learn the word of
zempic the one thing I wish, Oh my gosh, like,

(30:21):
what even is it? Genuinely, so you guys never heard
of a gym. It's called the gym. It's called being healthy.
So that's her slap back at that.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
I mean fair enough.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
I mean everyone's been accused of using it these days,
so sometimes you really got to speak up and speak out.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
That is your o m gus.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
The only thing we should be doing at this time
really is trying to jet planes. Actually, we are doing experiments.
We are here for science. We're going to probably do
a bar graph or two. Because Charlie had a big
issue and you decided, you know, you felt hurt by this,
didn't you.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
I was hurt, honestly, Bro, My whole childhood meant, my
whole childhood has been taken from me. Pascal Like, why
why Bro? Like, if something's not broken, don't try and
fix it.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
We're talking, of course, the important issue.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Of jet planes. The taste is different, and I am
putting this to the test. We have the Pascal that's
the more expensive version of the jet planes. Then we've
got jet planes.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
That are just the budget yeah, because that was the
thing that people were saying on the text, Well you
have to do a blind test. Do you even know
the difference? Do you even know what you're talking about?
When it comes to jet planes because you allege that
there's a new not so good recipe, and then the
budget ones are what where are they better or worse?

Speaker 3 (31:42):
I don't know because I don't really go to the
budget like when it comes to this, because no, no, no,
you know they're going to pay money. You're paying for
the taste, you're paying for the for the experience.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
You know, you're all over the place, Charlie, because you
just say you don't like the taste of them. People
are saying, just try the budget ones are probably be better.
So we've got and in here with the separated budget
and not so budget versions, right.

Speaker 15 (32:06):
Yes, And the budget ones are actually called aeroplanes because
I guess we can't have the same name as their class.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Okay, so you've got aeroplanes and jet planes. Do you
think visually they're quite different? Anna? I think so.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
I think I could be able to tell same looking
at them. I've already made.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
My guess which ones are the budget and which ones
are the fancy ones?

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Damn it. Yeah that's a that's a real rocky and
I only touched it, so I can't change it.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
It's very obvious to what the budget ones are in
my opinion, because they look harder.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
But to me, that reminds me of what a.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Proper jet plane should be. They will also got hard
on the outside. You know, when you go to the
deerries sometimes you're like trying to rip it with your teeth.

Speaker 4 (32:49):
Okay, so now I've got the glossier one that is larger,
I will say, which must be the more expensive one?

Speaker 3 (32:54):
I'm going the same color?

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Okay, A good idea. Okay, it's not about us, it's
about you, Charlie. So go which ones which?

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yeah, okay, off the bat. I already know this one's
the budget one.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
But you originally said from looking at them that that
was going to be the good one. You did, That's
honestly what you said. They look a lot harder, and
the good one looks more gummy.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
It just got no taste. So like I'm eating like
cardboard or.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Something, and what's your expensive one?

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Like them?

Speaker 5 (33:26):
It's too hard to chew. It took too big of
a bite.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
I'm I get Enwies swallowed. Yeah, it's got more taste,
a lot softer, But it's just you need the in between.
You need the softer on the outside, hard.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Soft on the inside. That's how it used to be.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
You're so right.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
So the budget ones is just hard, hard, hard, and
then the good ones are just jello jelly, jelly jelly.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
That it's not right.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
I'm with you, Charlie.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
You know what I'm shocked at. It's how much eating
and these things. I didn't realize that until you like
eating it live on the radio. They go and go,
don't they.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Yeah, that's why we used to love them. But you know,
things are changing. So producer Anna, please reveal to us
which one is.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
Which, Tylie were correct.

Speaker 15 (34:14):
The shinier one, which is soft, was the most expensive,
and then the budget hard ones the aeroplanes.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
But the what has come out of this research is
that there's a gap in the market. And just like Goldilocks,
it's not quite right. It's too hard or it's too chewy.
So you need someone in between. So there you go,
gap in the market. Go do it, Charlie.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Let's go Allen's I need to share about the incredible
experience that I had at O Taya last night. It
was in Altia Square at the big theater get it
the kind of one. Yeah, and let me tell you
these kits they can sing, they can dance, they can act.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
I mean, listen to this this girl, some Auckland girls.
How is that real?

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (35:12):
That's so beautiful?

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Are they so beautiful?

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Listen?

Speaker 3 (35:15):
It almost gives me, you know, you're in the movie.
It's like an opening to you know, to a scene
or something.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
What was beautiful was you know, they really really really
put it on.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
I remember when I did Stage Challenge, because it is
slightly similar as Hucker Theater, so that the kids have
complete creative freedom. There's you know, i'd certain timeframe, uh
and it was just so expressive and medical. But with
Stage Challenge, when I did that and people were like
rolling on these random things we've made, and then we're
rolling them off and then there's a track and then

(35:49):
oh no, the DJ guy didn't play it. This was
like so professional, from the graphics that they had in
the background, the acting, the singing, the way that it
sounded on the microphone, the levels I would like, whoever
that sound guy is also needs a big high five.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Remember who came in as the O tire director was saying.
They actually give them a quick sort of background course
on how to do all the technical stuff. So amazing.
I'm looking at Facebook and I'm like, oh, they're definitely
going to be on my feed. I'm going to know
some of their parents for one thing. I'm looking at
Khudaiki Mungafoe, which is Auckland Girls Grammar and yep, I
got has Bro, I've got lots of Look at all

(36:27):
these far no who are They're extremely proud, all of them.
And see they've got their little their merch going O taia,
their amazing performances and they are incredible.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
I'm so glad to do it.

Speaker 4 (36:38):
You took your flatmate too, comes so career didn't y.

Speaker 15 (36:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
So she's been only in New Zealand for less than
one year and to her this was just wow.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
She would have been buzzy.

Speaker 5 (36:49):
She was in awe. She was videoing everything.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
She was so excited and she was just also so
grateful because she said, you know what, I would have
never known or had.

Speaker 5 (36:57):
This opportunity, you know, wasn't for you. And I was like, oh,
thank you and did I cry you?

Speaker 14 (37:02):
So?

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Did?

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (37:03):
I feel really proud of kids that outline.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Yeah, I finally get it and now I know why
Staty cries whenever she used to go and watch the
kids perform.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Or the next gen. Now where it's at, can we
can ask them already?

Speaker 2 (37:15):
We are being joined by Sky Sports presenter Courtney Tidy
Modrina moa.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
Moin ok the Beck Courtney, how are you?

Speaker 8 (37:26):
Oh, Piana, I'm well? Thank you back in our ted
Oh a beautiful day. Ready for the weekend.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
Yeah, and tell us about the weekend our sport. We
got to look forward to.

Speaker 8 (37:35):
Oh, well, big game tomorrow night Sewn Johnson's final game
for the Warriors of renamed Goat Media Shawn Johnson Stadium,
who's two hundred and twenty third appearance for the Warriors.
So big night tomorrow night.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
Yeah. And also Jesse Devanga leaving and Adam Vanoa Blake
as well, So it means a lot. They really need
this one, don't they, Hi.

Speaker 8 (37:57):
They do they need this one. As you said, there's
farewell in Jazz and Adam two who have been great
Carusodians to the Warriors. So a big game for the
Warriors their final home game for the season as well.
They play again next weekend over in Crinella, so there'll
be another farewell for Sewan Johnson but our final chance
to support our team, the Warriors are purpul.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
I am literally going to do.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Look, I've heard of a rain dance, but I want
to do the opposite because I really I need to
do something because I want there with her to hold out.

Speaker 5 (38:26):
Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Because I just know that you know, go Meetia Stadium
or Seawan Johnson Stadium, as I should say, they will
put it on right like the halftime show.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
You know, the vibe around the stadium, it will be incredible.
So fingers toes is, nostrils crossed.

Speaker 8 (38:43):
Everything, But don't worry. I've checked. It looks like it's
going to be okay. So hopefully they way the hold out.
But you know, it's a big task against the Bulldogs.
They've won their last six out of seven games and
if they do win tomorrow night, they will secure themselves
in the final. So they've got a lot to play
for as well. Both teams the stack. So I'm looking
forward to this one.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
But I just think the.

Speaker 8 (39:03):
Warriors as you said we're farewelling three big names. Wade
Egan comes back into the side of starting hooker. I mean,
if you look at the Warriors, they're absolutely stacked because
I know that the boys will really want to get
up for each other for this one.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
We have a lot of court news, like in my
group chat, and you know, they statistics and they reckon
that the Warriors don't have a chance to meet top eight.
What are yours? Is that even a thing or is
it gone?

Speaker 8 (39:30):
I mean, if there is there the slightest of chances,
we'd have to win the next two. But also you're
relying on other teams to lose, and lose by a lot. Yeah,
So I mean statistics fly, they are, I think, right,
But I mean we're holding on to a very very
small thread. But hey, it's still a thread.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Yeah, there will always be hope and there'll always be
a chance to just you know, enjoy the moment. So
Shawn Johnson Stadium will be that incredible moment. And of
course you can watch that final home match for the
Warriors live on skys four and stream on Sky Sport
Now from seven thirty Friday. By the way, courting just
so you know, you'll probably hear the flavor fan bus arrive.

(40:08):
We've got a whole load of people arriving. So when
you're like trying to do you know your mahi, you'll
go who are those noisy people? That'll be our people?

Speaker 8 (40:15):
Okay, oh okay, j Pie, I can't wait. I look
forward to it. I love the last time that you
guys had the bus. I look forward to seeing everyone
there tomorrow night.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
I'll be leading the charge. Courtney, I'll see you there.

Speaker 8 (40:27):
That's us, that's us. It go the girls, Hey, your
papa finer, Hi, Yilda.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
You movie out called We Were Dangerous, and two of
the stars, Edna James and Mania Hall are here. No
may gorda welcome, Thank you killed us. So let's have
a little listen to what this movie is about. A
little bit of the trailer We Were Dangerous.

Speaker 5 (40:47):
I'm Nelly.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
That's Daisy, one or three girls in the WEEKI hub
the nature and has no mercy.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Sit up straight, all of you. Wow, jess up to
the girls here performed themselves.

Speaker 11 (41:02):
First case scenario, you let into polite society.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
The matron has no mercy. Oh say, I don't know,
how do you kind of quickly summarize to people what
this movie is about.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 14 (41:17):
I say, it's like a film of rebellion and joy,
female friendship, rebellion against institution and state. It's just it's
a story about three young people who are connected in
these circumstances.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
I don't know what they do with that friendship and
all the fun staff stop and I. This was your debut,
wasn't it. How did this movie come about for you?

Speaker 11 (41:38):
Some families and friends taked me in the post and well,
I thought it'd be funny if I went for.

Speaker 4 (41:44):
It, and I am here.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
I am yeah, like that all.

Speaker 11 (41:48):
How old were you at the time I was dating?
I had my birthday on set?

Speaker 5 (41:53):
Oh, how did you celebrate working out?

Speaker 1 (41:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (42:00):
It was cool because I got all the prisons. I
was like, shame, I got all these prisons.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
I was told that you actually audition as a joke.

Speaker 6 (42:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (42:10):
I thought all of it was a joke until I
actually got to crashhit. I was like, oh my gosh,
this is actually happening. I was like, what I thought
we were just doing this for fun?

Speaker 4 (42:18):
What about the reality of filming every day? How did
you find that Manaya? At thirteen years old?

Speaker 11 (42:26):
I just thought it was a cool airs experience. I
was like, far, I'm the man.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
I needn't know. You've been in a few movies now,
so I've seen you an Uproar. I've seen you actually
give us a list of some of the movies.

Speaker 9 (42:38):
No.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
No, so you have to you have to.

Speaker 14 (42:40):
This is only my third film that I've done. I've
done more television, but I started. My first job I
ever did was when I was seventeen. I did the
change Over with Miranda Harcourt and Still McKenzie and then Uproar.
We filmed the same year as we filmed We Were Dangerous.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
So now that you've had their debut Manaya's this year,
are you gonna do more movies?

Speaker 11 (42:58):
I was thinking about it and I was like, you know,
I think about it after school.

Speaker 4 (43:03):
Yeah, and what schooling? Are you keen to shout out
your school.

Speaker 11 (43:10):
By?

Speaker 4 (43:11):
So what are you thinking you'll do coming to.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
Kawah?

Speaker 11 (43:18):
Yeah, I'm a little bit nervous for that, so we'll see.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
But you know, you got heaps of amazing options. We
were Dangerous as now out in movie theaters. You know,
when you go along to this, what do you think
we should mentally prepare ourselves for it, and I think
going with an open heart, be ready to laugh.

Speaker 14 (43:34):
It is a joyful film and it is full of
like Materiata is wonderful and so hilarious, you know, so
go and looking forward to it.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
But also I don't know if our Madi people.

Speaker 14 (43:43):
It's a story about our people being put on an
island in the nineteen fifties.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
There's heavy themes there, but.

Speaker 5 (43:50):
Yeah, I don't know. Go ahead with open heart and
a bit of joy, so let's go.

Speaker 4 (43:54):
Sounds good. So you're trying to repress, but there's some
things you can't repress. Yeah, I love it too, amazing
ectresses to watch at dinner. Gordwa, thank you so much
for coming in.
