Speaker 1 (00:01):
The Flavor Podcast Network.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You're listening to Stacis Zara and Charlie's Off the Record.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
What's your record? Welcome to Off the Record, Stacy and
Charlie with you. And this story sucks.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
My partner Devin, his tools got stolen out of his
work van overnight last night.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Sucks.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
So from the van outside the house.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yeah, it's part directly outside of the house too, which
is such a shame. For some reason, for some reason,
his lum didn't work, whether they you know, turned it off.
I'm not quite sure how these sort of things go.
But it's just a shame because it's such a hard
time of year for everyone, I mean in general, and
then to lose thousands of dollars worth.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Of tools is bread and butter.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Really, I know, like he can't probably work today in
his contract work working, you know, he gets paid, he
in voices his hours, not salary. So you know, you're
really really actually putting someone out.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Yeah, and probably you know, when things like this happened,
people always go, oh, why didn't you put it inside
the driveway? Oh why didn't you take the tools inside?
You couldn't take all the tools inside.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
No, we literally don't have a driveway, So that's impossible.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I mean, he'd be spending what thirty forty minutes just
getting all the tools inside every single day. It has
a pretty cool like loud alarm, which I've heard it
go off.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's pretty loud.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
So for whatever reason, it failed him last night, and
it just it just bums me out. It bums me
out for him, and it just really it reminds me
that this time of year, you know, theft is up. Yeah,
you know, yeah Christmas around the corner. Yeah, yeah, that's
exactly what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I mean, that's that's just signs that the whole of
New Zealand's doing a tough you know. I remember when
tools got when tools are stolen from my truck, and
this was my fault in here because I transported the
tools from one side to the other side, and I
was mean to do it right then in there, but
I didn't. I ended up going home and just like

(01:57):
you know, I'll do it in the first thing in
the morning. And when did you It was in the
back of my my ute.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
And was that outside on the street or.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It was it was in my driveway, but yeah, I
was staying the house that we that we were renting
at the time, I didn't have a gate or anything,
so people can just walk past.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
And it was just this is the thing, right, is
how quick are they?

Speaker 4 (02:18):
You know?

Speaker 1 (02:18):
How did they know? Usually you wouldn't have tools in.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Your train and then just like they know there isn't
It's like, what are you doing walking past if you're
not on an evening walking looking into the tray of.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
The tree, you know, and it won't go missing the
moment I have tools in there?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Gone God, yeah, yeah, yeah you can people look for it.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
But I mean that that is so annoying, you know,
like that is just yeah, and like you say, it
really impacts people and can we just yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And tools are not cheap man.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
No, it's exactly right.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
And and all I can think, you know, your mind
starts to race about the kind of people that live
on your street blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Because it actually did in road with no cold so
it's really hard to turn around.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
There's no cold de sec You actually have to like
reverse and pull into someone else's driveway. And it's just
not the kind of shoot you'd think to go on
and check for them.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
When you talk about tools, like roughly how many tools
is it like, would you be able to carry the
tools by yourself or.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
No? No, you know big tools like noil guns.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
And how did they do it all there without like
waking you guys up.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Well, that's the thing is I weirdly woke up in
the middle of the night, but I didn't really hear anything.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I just I actually thought it was cold. So I'm
thinking maybe I did.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Subconscious that would the time and I and I didn't notice.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
But now I'm just like, I don't know. I'm like
some of my major neighbors dodgy because how would you know.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
They're like, I'm like, it's an allegation, but still, I mean,
I know those are all that things.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
That's where you go, that's where.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
You go, That's where you go to that place in
your mind where you're like, could someone have done that?
That that knows us, you know, and that's what really
upsets me. But you know, probably not to be honest,
but I just think if if you know, I beat,
you could jump on the bloody marketplace today.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
And see the nail gun.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's actually really just said that that's where what people
have come to, and and also that they would be
risking their themselves this time of year, you know, like
because if you do get caught and arrested, then you
are out for ye.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
But there's a lot of like places like cash Conroders
and all that you've got to give barcodes and they'll
scan the barcode that's on your on your tools and
it will have the name of the person that it
belongs to you or the company.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That's just a tool, so that it's a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Smarter unless you're just doing like these little market sales,
like you know, the back of your boot.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
There's the thing. Please don't do that, not this time
of year. Everyone's you know, doing it tough to make
it tougher on some people. That's the message I'd say.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Thanks for listening to stay a Zorah and Charlie's off
the record.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
