In CEA results day, around one hundred and forty five
thousand students across the country. We'll find out this morning
how they fared. More than one hundred and twenty one
exam sessions were held across the country last year. And
joining me now, PPTA President Chris Abercrombie, Good morning, Good morning.
Do we know how well we've done?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
No, we don't know yet, so the result will be
publicly available till later in the week, so you know,
fingers crossed, but we hopefully we see an improvement.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Do the How does the IT system usually cope with
this stuff? Are you going to have the headline that
everyone was jamming the system?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I'm really hopeful we don't. It does happen at times
over but I really hopeful it hasn't happened this year.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Did you have any inkling during the course of last
year as how the exams were received by students, so
we can think ahead on those results.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
So my understanding is overall they were pretty happy. There
was a couple of complaints about some of the how
hard some of the exams were, which I don't think
is an unusual complaint to have, but so hopefully we
see some good results.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Actually, how do they cope with that? Do they do
that by scaling as well? Because they discover the percentage
that they want to pass and get this grade, So
it doesn't matter how hard the exam was, will scale
it any kind.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Of so they have perspective of expecting them before the outcome.
So you know, how many excellences, how many mirrors, how
many achieves they think they should have it for that exam.
But there's also standards based Its kind of depends on
how many actually pass the standards.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Do teachers get nervous about the results too?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Absolutely, they know because we teachers want the best. I've
got colleagues to a message of yesterday saying you know,
results have results out for you know, they're really excited.
You know, I haven't been in the classroom for for
a year now, I've taken on this new role and
I'm still really interested from what my ex students have done.
So you know, we we still really want the best
of these young people.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
What's the message that you have given or would give
to parents or children? Kids? Should I say who're unhappy
with their results.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
It's I would say, it's not the end of the world.
You know, one bad result isn't going to shape your
entire future. There's always options available to you. And also
just talk yes, school, this is an issue. You know,
there's there's options available to help these people reach these
reach their goals, but it definitely doesn't steal your fate.
One one bad result excellent.
