Dress Smart Auckland manager Lauri Solecki chats to Andrew Dickens about the best sales, her expectations for Boxing Day busyness, and overviews the Christmas shopping period.

Well, good morning to you. It's the day after Christmas,
which means many key wes are going to be brushing
off their hangover and heading to the store to get
a Boxing Day deal. Now, Black Friday pointed to a
positive uptick and retail spending, so the question is whether
the Boxing Day can do the same. So we've got
a manager of them all with us. The mall is
Dress Smart in Auckland and it's Laurie Siliki and good

morning to you. Lourie.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Good morning. How are you.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I'm very well. I'm very well, indeed, so expecting a
big day.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Here we are. We're expecting a massive boxing day. We're
seeing a strong we saw a strong performance over Friday
and it was a really good couple of days. So
we're expecting strong performance and we remain optimistic.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Now it's seven oh seven in the morning. Do you
have lines outside them all yet?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Not just yet. All of our retailers are here getting
ready and gearing up for a massive day, so we'll
see people starting to rise from about seven thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Very good now, the Christmas shopping period has now finished
and now we're into the post Christmas period. Was how
was the Christmas shopping? Was it lighter than expected or
have you seen spending noticeably increase over recent months?

Speaker 3 (01:31):
We saw a good Black Friday weekend, you know, the
data shows that it did pick up and we saw
some renewed confidence in the market. We had a good
last couple of days, So twenty third, twenty fourth, we're
really strong. So we're hoping to carry on with that
trend today.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
All right, So Dressmatter is primarily a outlet mall, though
it has diversified in recent years. On your own opinion,
on your own recognissance, what's the best deal in them all?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
You know, there's a lot of retailers who are doing
up to seventy percent off at the moment, you know,
as a center where we're monitored to ensure that the
prices that we're offering people are good and that there
are outlet prices, so we are quite confident that when
you come here, you're going to get a good deal.

(02:23):
We've got everything from guest watchers at forty percent off
to your everyday QB staples at seventy percent off, So
it's a good day to get out there and.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Have the people been in them all because we heard
a lot of reports of some quite overwhelmed people in
the period leading up to Christmas. They are they overwhelmed
or are they just excited and having a good time.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
No, Look, we didn't have any adverse behavior. We've we've
had some really great customers. People are generally upbeat, people
are positive. You know, we've got good parking, we've got
great access and to the center, so we don't have
all those sort of agitations before you get here. So
we've actually had a really good last couple of weeks
and lead up to Christmas.
