From the news talks had been newsroom, this is NEWSFACS.
In this update, three young people have been identified in
relation to a bomb threat in Napier. Detective Senior Sergeant
John McCarthy says a business and its neighbors were evacuated

The police and government are looking to crack down on
CBD crimes over the next month. To combat anti social
behavior in major centers, community beat teams have been announced
from July one, Auckland will be the first to see
this implemented. Police Minister Mark Mitchell says there's a lot
more work to do to reduce crime rates, but these
are steps in the right direction. We've all heard very

(00:46):
clearly from the community, whether it be the residence living
in the CBD, whether it be visitors that are visiting
our country for the first talk. We want to be
proud of that again. The Children's Minister says initiatives to
address youth crime and not punishment for young people, but
the biggest support network they'll ever have. The government's proposing

be introduced before the end of the year, while a
pilot academy begins in Palmerston North at the end of July.
Karen Ture says it's about giving young people hope.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
We'll be asking them what were the reasons why you
came here? If it is a gang involvement, do you
really want to go back to the community that you
were from or do you want to choose another place
to live and we will support them in that process.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
The Maritime Union suggest there is currently no clear plan

a number of investigations as it sits in Picton after
running aground on Friday night because of a suspected steering problem.
It was refloated last night. Maritime Union spokesperson Victor Blow

(01:52):
to have to go back in order.
