this update. Flooding damage in Tasman is being assessed and
workers are now clearing debris and roads. It stopped raiding
in the northern South Island, but a local state of
emergency remains in place for Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman Nelson.
Tasman Civil Defense spokesperson Paul Shattock says there's been significant

damage to farmland. He says rapid assessment teams are working
throughout the region today, primarily in the Morthweka Valley and Tappawera.
Two people have serious to moderate injuries after a two
vehicle crash on State Highway one just south of Putaru
this afternoon. Police were called to the scene between Toepaul
Street and Domain Road just before three. The roads reopened

after a short closure. A victim's advocate is happy with
the direction of new sentencing changes. The legislation takes effect today,
capping the sentence discounts judges can apply at forty percent.
Judges will also crack down on crimes against solo businesses
and behaviours contradicting remorse and rehabilitation. Government Chief victims advisor

Ruth Money says she's previously seen sentences being reduced by
seventy percent.

workers about how they intend to use AI. A new
survey shows eighty six percent of business leaders believe AI
will positively impact their team's work. Only half of workers
believe AI will positively impact their roles in the next
two years. It shows AI has not affected workforce planning

for half of organizations. Talent Managing director Kara Smith says
the disparity between outlooks of employers and employees is down
to job security fears.
