Good afternoon. I Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
news fix for Monday, the sixth of October. A police
office has been shot in Auckland's Flatbush, reportedly incurring non
life threatening injuries. Police say a firearm was used against
them as they were conducting inquiries at a Chapel Road
property at nine thirty this morning. The roads cordoned off
between Babbistock and Stankim Roads. The Prime Minister says the

empty lot that like a dump. Police say initial indication
suggested the man had died from non accidental injuries.

In Sydney, a sixty year old man's been arrested after
a gunman opened fire last night in the suburb of
Croydon Park. At least one person was hit and seriously
injured and sixteen hurt with up to one hundred shots
fired between seven forty five and nine thirty pm. Talks
continue over the release of hostages, which could lead to

a ceasefire in the Middle East. A mass has agreed
in principle to parts of the US proposed ceasefire framework,
leaving the US to tell Israel to stop its air strikes.
Mediators will meet overnight tonight in Egypt to finalize an agreement.
