Speaker 1 (00:04):
From the news talks had been newsroom. This is newsfacs
in this outdate. The bulk of New Zealand first announcements
are expected today on the final day of their annual conference.
Party members and supporters have gathered in Palmerston North. The
Herald Adam Pearce says up to one thousand people are
expected for Leader Winston Peters addressed this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
There'll be a government announcement, it sounds like, and there
also be a lot of talk on an immigration policy
from mu ze On first. Winston Petters doesn't hold back
at these things, so it'll certainly be quite an event.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
The New Zealand Avalanche Advisory is forecasting a high avalanche
danger in the Wanaka region after four people were swept
away yesterday. Please say the four have been accounted for
and are safe after the avalanche near the Treble Cone
Skifield area around two point thirty. Jordan Dunn has.

More footage of the incident shows the snow giving way
under their feet and the group tumbling down the slope.
The Mountain Safety Council says the high danger forecast means
human triggered avalanches like this one are very likely. It
says the alpine backcountry is currently not a sensible place
to be.

To party Malis or any Kuiper has paid tribute to
the late Taku Tai tash camp after winning the Tamakimikodo
by election. Kuiper got almost double the votes of Labour's
Penny HENNAE. Lisbon's fatal finicular crash is being blamed on
a snapped cable. Sixteen people have been confirmed dead and
twenty one others are injured after the crash earlier this week,

BBC correspondent Alison Roberts says investigators can't find a concrete
explanation for what happened. The driver in that upper car
did apply the brakes. It does raise the possibility that
another automatic system that should have kept in may not
have been applied. In state highway too. At Porturino, north
of Hawks Bay has reopened with a new one way

bridge in place. It replaces the Bailey Bridge in the
Waikari Gorge, which had been in stalled following cyclone Gabrielle.
The new bridge will allow larger vehicles to cross. I'm

scrum will come under scrutiny at training this week after

Official confirmation that boxer Joseph Parker's next fight will be
against undefeated British heavyweight Fabio Wardley. The pair will square
off for the WBO and WBA interim titles in London
