Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
news facts for Wednesday, the tenth of September. Hopees the
contents of a remote campsite will help investigators find where
else Tom Phillips may have been hiding a nearly four
year Manhunters come to a dramatic end, with the fugitive
being shot dead by police early Monday morning. His children

have been recovered unharmed and are in state care. Police
Commissioner Richard Chambers says he's confident they'll find other campsites soon.

remain unclear, with more evidence being gathered at the campsite.

That is all relevant to helping tell a story that
might determine who, when, why may have assisted mister Phillips.

And Police Minister Mark Mitchell says solo rural policing isn't
too dangerous. After one officer was shot in the head
in the confrontation with Phillips, the normally experienced police officers
that are able to make the technical decisions themselves in
terms of whether they want to deal with the situation,

been launched after the death of a woman in potapotter Umu,

north of Wellington last night. Police were called to Chum's
Road just before ten pm after reports of an assault.
Despite efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene.
A forty eight year old man known to the woman
has been charged with assault and breach of a protection order.

to take a Maori seat from Marii. Labour's Willie Jackson

called it racist and to party Maori demanded he remove it,
but in a video posted to social media overnight, Ferris
said ethnic people should not be campaigning in Maori seats.

That post is raising Maori. There had so many messages
of people saying, well what you said was right, Yes,
that's correct. Oh, we shouldn't be so shy to see that.

Baliza reminding the public to arrange a sober driver while
