Speaker 1 (00:04):
No, the newstalks had been newsroom, this is newsfacs. In
this update, Winston Peters has appeared to have taken another
swing at the Prime Minister on his plans to combat
Donald Trump's tariffs. The Foreign Minister spoke in Hawaii today
and is leading a cross party delegation through the Pacific.
Peters says recent debate on how international trade works has

(00:26):
been unfortunate and misguided. He says luction's use of military
language such as trade, war and fight has come across
as hysterical and short sighted. Peters says for a small
country like ours, the best course is almost always to
be cautious and wait for the dust to settle before
making choices we may late regret. Tech lovers and tech

(00:48):
companies are set to benefit from a Trump paus on
some tariffs. Some smartphones and computers will now be exempt
from the base ten percent tariffs and China's one hundred
and forty five percent rate. Products like iPhones are primarily
produced in China, and the tariffs were expected to increase
the price steeply. US political analyst Aidan Smith told Sky

(01:09):
News this is a popular move among consumers. Does kind
of look like an effort to remove fallout in one
area of the economy that consumers absolutely would feel.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
People do not want to pay that much for a phone.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
One of the country's biggest trials will be looked at
from a new angle in a TV show on three.
The murder trial of Philip Polkinghorn will be explored over
three nights. The Auckland eye doctor was ultimately found not
guilty of murdering his wife Pauline Hannah after an eight
week trial. The documentary series will show interviews with Polkinhorn himself,
his girlfriend Madison Ashton, Crown solicitor Eletta McClintock, and journalists

(01:46):
who covered the case. It will air on TV three
at eight forty tonight. Prominent Mari artist Robin Kahukiwa has died.
In a post to social media, her family says she
passed away peacefully after illness, rounded by Farno on Friday.
Kahokiwi's art was exhibited nationally and internationally, and she's being

(02:07):
remembered as a staunch supporter of Mari Wright's through her work.
She says she was a private person and always said
her art spoke for her. That's news. In sports, goals
number two has roared into contention from a maiden green
jacket with a stunning third round at the Masters. Rory
McElroy has a shot at a sizzling six under pass

(02:29):
sixty six to go to twelve under at Augusta, leading
Bryce and de Chambeau by two shots, with Corey Connor's
another two shots back. Wellington Phoenix coach Giancarlo Italiano is
certain he's the person to lead the club into the future.
After hitting the highs of a semi final last season.
The next are eleventh in the thirteen team league. Italiano's

(02:50):
contract is up at the end of this campaign and
if he wants to go around again, if the club
will have him.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
The club knows what I can do, what I can't do.
If they're secking guessing now, whether you know I'm the
right person for the job that you know that's an
answer within itself. Given a good preseason and you know
the resources I need to succeed, I think I can
do one better than last year.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
That's sports. I'm Sandy Hodge. For more news, listen to
news talks. It'd be live on iHeartRadio.
