Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
News Facts four Thursday, the twenty fourth of July. The
Sports Minister is standing up for a coalition based decision
directing Sport New Zealand to remove its trans guidelines for
community sport. The twenty twenty two principles allowed people to
play community sports according to their gender identity. Sport Minister

Mark Mitchell says most fair minded Kiwis would agree with
the move, which honors safety and fairness.

Are christ Church community is in shock as police launch
a homicide investigation in their suburb. Officers were called to
a Lamorna Road property in Parklands just before eight last night,
where a woman died at the scene. A thirty six
year old man's been charged with murder and is due
to appear in the christ District Court. Herald reporter Jaslyn
Wales is at the scene and says neighbors are feeling unsettled.

state integrated school program will bolster the overall role by

Integrated schools are former private schools which have converted into
the state school network but retain characteristic of the private model.
There are three hundred of them across New Zealand, and
most are Catholic. Education Minister Erica Stamford says these schools
are experiencing similar growth pressures to the state schools and
needs support to meet this demand.

The New funding will be phased in over the next
four years. The government's target of recruiting five hundred new
police officers has been held up yet again. Police expected
it'll be by August next year. That's nine months after
the original target and two months behind the Police Commissioner's

Kura is retiring. She's been in the role since April
