Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
News Facts four Thursday, the twenty fourth of July. The
Sports Minister is standing up for a coalition based decision
directing Sport New Zealand to remove its trans guidelines for
community sport. The twenty twenty two principles allowed people to
play community sports according to their gender identity. Sport Minister
(00:25):
Mark Mitchell says most fair minded Kiwis would agree with
the move, which honors safety and fairness.

We've decided as part of the coalition agreement with New
Zealand first that the government is not going to dictate
to the codes what they should be doing. The Codes
and the sporting bodies themselves they know best.

Are christ Church community is in shock as police launch
a homicide investigation in their suburb. Officers were called to
a Lamorna Road property in Parklands just before eight last night,
where a woman died at the scene. A thirty six
year old man's been charged with murder and is due
to appear in the christ District Court. Herald reporter Jaslyn
Wales is at the scene and says neighbors are feeling unsettled.

Many of them are quite and shop, but one neighbor
did say that you just don't expect to see it,
especially in such a quiet area. There's a lot of
older people.

Governments around the world have been taken to task for
failing to stop Israel's starvation policy in war battered Gaza.
The warning comes in the Washington Post from Bushah khalidi
ox VAM policy lead in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Integrated schools are former private schools which have converted into
the state school network but retain characteristic of the private model.
There are three hundred of them across New Zealand, and
most are Catholic. Education Minister Erica Stamford says these schools
are experiencing similar growth pressures to the state schools and
needs support to meet this demand.

The New funding will be phased in over the next
four years. The government's target of recruiting five hundred new
police officers has been held up yet again. Police expected
it'll be by August next year. That's nine months after
the original target and two months behind the Police Commissioner's
revised deadline. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Tanya

Kura is retiring. She's been in the role since April
twenty twenty three and has notified the Governor General of
her intention to retire this November. Health New Zealand is
aiming to avert strike action by nurses planned for next week.
A further bargaining meetings taking place between the New Zealand
Nurses Organization and the Public Health Agency on Monday. Chief

Executive Dale Bramley says they're committed to reach agreement with
the union. It's estimated forty three hundred procedures and specialist
appointments would be postponed if the twenty four hour strike
takes place. The union's calling on Health New Zealand to
better address staffing concerns. To Sport, Fletcher Newle is the
latest All Black to secure his future. The twenty five
