Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good morning, I'm never readimanu and this is your morning
news fix with Tuesday, second of September. In this update,
the government's being encouraged to keep loosening its approach to
foreign buyers with rural areas in mind. It's inviting certain
active investor visa holders to build or buy one home
worth at least five million dollars. Hyatt Consulting Principal consultant

(00:28):
David Hyatt says this offers great opportunities for the likes
of Auckland and Queenstown, but he says there's still a
gap for other regions where there's a lot of property
valued below five million dollars available. Hyatt says many of
these people want to get away from where everyone else
is and aren't always looking for the high profile cities
and tourist resorts. Thousands of planned health procedures and appointments

(00:50):
could be postponed this week with nurses undertaking further strikes.
More than thirty six thousand Nurses Organization members are striking
from seven to eleven this morning and again on Thursday.
Nurses claim Health New Zealand hasn't made any efforts to
address unsafe staffing levels. Health ENDZ says that the action
could disrupt treatment services and care over the entire week,

(01:13):
especially for patients with non urgent needs, but it says
hospitals and eds will be open and care will still
be given to those who need it. New Zealand has
one of the most complex governments in the world. That's
according to a new report from the New Zealand Initiative,
which says our eighty one ministerial portfolios are undermining good government.

(01:34):
It's calling for a cabinet kull, including creating senior and
junior ministers and reducing portfolios to twenty or less. At
least eight hundred people are believed dead and nearly three
thousand are being injured in a strong quake in eastern Afghanistan.
The death toll is expected to rise much higher as
entire villages are reportedly destroyed. Two former prime ministers will

(01:59):
attend a page of military parade in China, with Kim
Jong un and Vladimir Putin also on the guest list.
John Key and Helen Clark will attend the event at
Tianneman Square, marking eighty years since China defeated Japan in
World War Two. China calls that Conflict the World Anti
Fascist War. Chinese President Xi Jenping will speak to the audience,

(02:21):
which will include twenty current and former leaders and other
diplomats from around the world. Our largest ever North Island
tourism alliance is just getting started as they work to
win over Australian travelers. This week, more than seventy tourism
operators are attending events in Sydney today and Melbourne tomorrow
under the partnership Kiwe North Auckland Unlimited. Head of Tourism

(02:44):
Karen Thompson Smith says if all goes well in Australia,
they'll take Kiwi North to China next year. We're also
currently underway and looking at planning on taking the same
concept in North America, which it's another really key market
for us. In sport, Springbot's coach Russia Rasmus has urged
against fans thinking the All Blacks legacies collapsing after one

(03:05):
away lost to Argentina as his side prepares for Saturday's
test at Eden Park. European Ryder Cup golf captain Luke
Donald has named the most stable carryover roster for this
month's title defense in New York. Rasmus Hoygore replaces his
twin Nikolai, in the only change. The prize pot has
bloomed almost fourfold to twenty three point five million dollars

(03:28):
for the women's fifty over World Cup cricket tournaments starting
this month. I'm never retty, Mardu and that your latest newspeks.
We'll be back with the next update at midday from
