From the News Talks headby Newsroom. This is newsfacs. In
this update, thousands are waking up without power and a
person was rescued from their car as floodwaters rose on
the Corimandal Peninsula. Foreign emergency was called to State Highway
twenty five shortly before nine pm to rescue a person
from their vehicle. Part of the highway remains closed. Meanwhile,

around six thousand Northland residents remain in the dark. Met
Service meteorologist Lewis Ferris's rain and wind intensity should ease
in Auckland and Northland, but other areas won't be as lucky.
We will see continued heavy rain through Corimandel. They have

convicted double murderer Mark Lundy is set to continue fighting

for his innocence after being granted parole. He's spent more
than twenty three years behind bars for the killing of
his wife Christine and seven year old daughter Amber and
their Parmas North home in August two thousand. Lundy will
be released from prison next month's subject to a list
of conditions. Open Justice reporter Jeremy Wilkinson says Lundy, alongside

his lawyer and supporters, have lodged a case with the
Criminal Cases Review Commission.

Which is reviewing his case and it has the power
to send his case back to the Court of Appeal,
which has an avenue for him to continue to clear
his name.

Donald Trump says the United States has already made tremendous
amounts of money from tariffs. The US presidents hosting Italian
Prime Minister Georgia Maloney at the White House. She's the
first European leader to visit Washington since Trump brought in
twenty percent tariffs on the EU, which have been paused
for ninety days. Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump says

money being made from tariffs is astronomical.

We were treated very unfairly on trade, and the countries
are having a hard time getting used to the fact
