was some beer in here.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, we got a true story.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Actually when Dan came in old pugsan as he does,
he said to Dan, would you like a glass of water?

Speaker 4 (00:34):
And Dan went, you've got any bees?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Perfect? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:38):

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (00:42):
Bloody good? Life is good.

Speaker 6 (00:46):
The Black Seeds have just recorded a new song, so
excited about that. It's good to be creating. Looking forward
to someone to be back on the roads. Yeah, man,
so you know, and good to be here. I'm JO
and you're got a show like I was just saying
before I supervised at a company t r S and

(01:07):
listening to the show on the site, you know you
want to laugh, you churn into you.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Isn't that weird? Because I drive to work quite off
of the Black Seeds a plan.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
No, I was actually funny enough listening to you fellows today,
Just were you hooning around doing stuff. Listen to the
old Black Seat.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
So that's very exciting.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
New a new single coming.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
Out, Yeah, a new single called Compassion.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I don't under sound of that.

Speaker 6 (01:40):
Yeah, controversial, you know, I just think, Yeah, we're all
divided this time in life.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
It's it's a bloody crazy place.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
And I just wanted to write something that, you know,
I just said how I was feeling great, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
I didn't want to get to preachy. Yeah, and it's hard.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
It's hard not to and I guess you go reggae
and then you go, it's probably gonna sound a bit
preachy if you're getting you know, it's.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Not a political song. It's more of it come together,
so a weirdness.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, yeah, what I think, as you say, Dan, in
this day and age, we need it, man, We need
it because it is it is a batchit crazy world
and people have lost their collective minds. But I'll tell
you what, because are we day booing it?

Speaker 4 (02:31):
We are day booing it shortly, Jason, before we do, though,
I just want to know, Dan, is this like, is
this just a one off thing or are you guys
cooking some.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
Other stuff or you know that we have been cooking. Yes, yeah, yeah,
we have been cooking. We want to get an album
out next year. We've been demoing a lot of tunes,
so yeah, we're excited, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
And how hard is it nowadays with the Black Seas
because you guys been around for a week while now
is everyone seven years? Are you guys time to call it?

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Isn't it all it down?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (03:01):
I mean but is that hard of.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
These Like are you guys across the country?

Speaker 5 (03:06):
How's it?

Speaker 6 (03:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Yeah we are. Yeah, I'm up here in Auckland.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
We've got Palmi, got christ Church and yeah, I mean
it's it costs a lot of money just to get
us in the same room rehse Yeah, it's apparently Wellington
now Nigel.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
And Ryan basically Ryan.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
Preople Yeah yeah, yeah, so yeah we get together. But
it is a bit of a feat to do that.
But when we come together, you know, it's like we've
never left. You know, we're really good mates. And and
I think you played together for such a long time
you have that synergy.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Yeah, yeah, twenty seven years. I mean this show has
been going for about four and a half now. We're
falling apart of the seams.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
But the checkers we've got to move to different parts
of the country. Keys, that's the key. I think.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
I agree. Where would you move?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Where would I move?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I know where you go? You got to Russell. You
to Russell.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
There's a little radio.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Studio there right on the wall. It's not looking out there,
and I could put my ride out and do the
show and then.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
It's got commercial.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
But I've got a bite.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
I'll be back in a minute.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
But I think Jase doesn't know is that the studio
has not even plugged a show. Just to myself, I'll
tell you what you want to get on that amazing
radio show. You describing Jason as todab a brand new
Black Seeds song for the first time ever world premiere pre.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
We'll get a massive review afterwards.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Radios off the Record.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Podcast, We've got Dan from the Black Seat. That as
a feel when you listen to your tune there Dan.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
Here, you can go either way.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
You create something and then you listen to it over
and over and over and over again until you're sick
of it. But I mean this tune I come come
back to. It's a good gay Jay and I always
enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. We're actually we did a
version of the track, and then Lee Preble another brother
of brothers.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Right, he's got three brothers.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
For years. The guy does not talk, He.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Does not Preams does not share a thing again.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
So they're a very talented family.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Preams once came into the office and after a couple
of hours he said, I got to go. Will you
go in hospital? Why? I got run over by a
truck on the way in today? Was a bus My apology,
literally that happened, and he just did not mention it.
Got a bit of work done, right, I'm off to
the hospital. So that's Prebs.

Speaker 6 (05:33):
Yeah, that that's the Prebles pretty much pretty.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Much interesting thing.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Sorry, no, you go keezy.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Your own time.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Interesting thing I found when it comes to tunes like that,
like that is the world premiere of Compassion by the
Black Seeds. How long ago did you write that?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
That was?

Speaker 6 (05:53):
It was probably demo earlier this year and then it
came in bits, like I was saying before, to get
us all together.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
It's like start of the year.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
Who is free for a week for a weekend, and
then it goes another five months, who's free for this weekend?

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Is that hard?

Speaker 6 (06:07):
Because like that's hard? Yeah, so you go home and
you're trying to write. But it really works for me
to add lib in the studio. Yes, you know, that's
where That's where it comes out. I'm just writing feeling
what the guys are in the other studio.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Any kind of collaborate of art right to be the
same with acting, you can't really do it until you
get into the room together on zoom or you want.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
But interesting love making. The interesting thing though, was like
our show for example, it's the opposite. Like every single
thing we talk about is meticulously preps recripted.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Yeah, I could tell.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
And so like the idea of ad libing that freaks
me out. Like the idea of me not knowing the
one hundred questions I've prepticed to talk to Dan about
that really freaks me out.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Dan.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
You mentioned the fact that you're about to go on tour.
I'm looking at this beautiful weather. Where about are you
over the summer?

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Well, we're everywhere.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
We're up north, yes, matakana o good.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
It's going to be great. It's close to home. Rhythm
rhythm alps. Oh beautiful down there.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Yeah, it's going to be great. We're going to run
a shows supporting you. Be forty and that's going to
be all over the country. Get to play Homegrown again.
Go to Hamilton.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Is that where it is?

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah, you could probably afford to give Hamard or Hamilton
a skip.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
With me.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
I'm not anti Hamilton.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
I love Hamilton.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
No really, I mean, as you say, twenty seven years
the Black Seeds. Every summer, you guys come out, perform
a few shows, and there are you still just as
fizzed up to get out there and tour again.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Yeah? Totally really, Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
I mean I love being in the studio, but going
out and playing, I mean, that's that's your audience. I mean,
they've come to see you. There's there's nothing quite like that.
I mean, it never gets old, never gets to old, man,
and you're always as good as your last show, you know.
You just I just like to give everything to it
because I mean I can't cannot, you know. And yeah,

(08:11):
and when you're when you're when I'm not doing that
and I'm doing my day job, which which which I like,
it becomes frustrating not creating and not performing.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
But you've got that amazing outlet, right, which is that
that's a god scene for someone with so much creativity
to give.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
Yeah, yeah, definitely, I mean yeah, sometimes it gets a
big stain it because you're not with the guys and
you're not creating.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
But when you're in, when we're in the.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
Studio, it's like, this is the time to give it
and to put it in one hundred get.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Stuck in, get stuck.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
If people want to get hold of this single, how
do they do it? Like think about the dear brain,
like me right, and I'm going to myself, now, where
can I listen to that?

Speaker 5 (08:53):
Where do you listen to your music?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Spotify? But then my daughters went naughty, naughty because treat
artists very well, and I went, okay, well, on am
I supposed.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
To Where do your daughters listen to their music?

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Well that's what I've been saying. It is okay, not Spotify?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Then where And they're like, oh.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
On title? Yeah? Another one?

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Band camp?

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yeah, band Camp is good.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
I mean I guess you know, unfortunately Spotify, but titles
are good. Another good app. It's convenient, right, YouTube, so
you can go to all those different platforms. You could
go to YouTube. We're going to have a lyric video
coming out tomorrow with with the song Compassion, So that'll
be on YouTube, and you know it's unfortunately right now

(09:40):
it is on all the streaming platforms, and then obviously
when we have the album then that'll be the hard copy.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
We'd like to put it on vinyl.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Bloody, you are what.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
You're right now.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
We just made a final it's sold out pretty quick,
clean than about Jason's right here.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Twelve hours.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, that's the one, Dan.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
It's a podcast on a vital Dan.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yeah, and we it sold out and think about seven
hours or so, not that that's important, but no, eight
thousand copies of the Hey Dan, good on your mate.
Congratulations angle and maybe we'll have a little bit of
a chitty chat before you head off.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
Yeah, how do you guys who want to come to
a show?

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Jason?

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I don't like people you.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Go around and do a gig in Jason's lounge. That
would be all right?

Speaker 6 (10:33):
That who we could arrange that with the other folks,
be up for that.

Speaker 4 (10:40):

tell us that signal was called Compassion.
