five to ten and Hamilton yesterday they returned home to
a big welcoming of a cargo with a bit of
extra cargo.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Have the Stags assistant coach Scott Eaders with us? What
time did you get to bed last night?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Mate? I don't actually recall mate, to be fair, but
it was fairly late. Now, we had an awesome night
at the States our house in Hamilton. They hosted us
really well and there was quite a lot of Southland
Southland support there as well. So now it was an
awesome night, awesome, awesome moment really.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
So if you spent most of today traveling, what time
did you have to hop on a plane?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, we went to bed. We were about I think
help us nine to part of the hotel from Hamilton,
so we got home actually probably caught the four so
It's been a few day of traveling, a couple of
big flights and a bit of a windy riding, but
all worth it. An awesome reception at the airport. It
was awesome to see so many people there.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
You got a nice welcome when your touchdown, did you.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, it was huge. You never really quite expect to
naam and you're going to show, but yeah, three point
thirty on a Monday, it was awesome. Makes it all
worth it. I guess when you see the how much
it means to a lot of the people and all
the kids and people who were part. Guess they're fifteen
years ago when we last one, so it's special.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Who did you put in charge of it last night?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's a good question, young Tan Harvey. Actually he had
a bit of responsibility around it was part of the
New Zealand on the twenty teen this year, so he
was tasked off looking after and he did a fairly
good job, to be fair. And then you obviously Sean
Shawnay let us out off the plane with it when
we got to the airport. So yeah, we'll see how
it goes tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Right, Well, yes, because I hear you off to another
and I'm going to use it, Averted commas hell you
can't see on the radio and not the function tonight.
By the sounds of it the Spates our house. I'll
look after you down there as well.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Mate.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, how good. We're lucky. We've got awesome community support,
especially at ILT and our partners at the Spates our House.
So you're heading there and I guess just really enjoyed it,
enjoy the occasion. But at the same time, the boys
know that tomorrow we need to dial and start preparing
for a huge game. But we'll definitely enjoy it. Enjoyed
it last night. I enjoyed it tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
And is there any It's probably outside of your of
your brief, but I mean everyone's going to want to
see it right down there. And you know you put
it online again on Saturday. So are there plans to
try and get it around the region over the next
three or four days?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah? I understand there may not. She's probably not quite
well in your house, but from what I understand, they're
going to they're going to try and get it to
as many schools and community restorms and years community centers
as they can. And I guess from Wednesday to Friday,
So it sounds like it's going to be a gam
picked three or four days getting organized. I know that
the rugby yourself in community and Edmund team have been
(03:07):
having a busy Monday.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
At what point in the game did you know you
had it one?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Probably in all of ourselves still a wee bit of
a nervousness, probably until about six or seven minutes three
score game. You always or have seen plenty of games
where teams go being bang, don't they, But yeah, probably
six or seven minutes to go, and we think we've
got to turnover or a penalty and we was sort
of I think that was we could relax a little
bit and uh yeah if he smells in the coaching
(03:33):
box at that point. So that was pretty special. The
old Southland chart gone in the grand stand as well
for awesome supporters that were there.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, just awesome. And I mean you won't be able
to get a ticket on Saturday where you a wast a.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Four o'clock kickoff, So yeah, rock on down there and
watch you guys retain it and then watch the old
Blakes later on.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Oh how good mate, huge said day coming up now,
it's going to be a special day. Four o'clock kickoff
against Kennerbury and I know, I'm sure there's a few
can every folk coming down and what better way to
challenge ourselves against the benchmark of the competition this year.
So it's going to be it's gonna be a huge one.
Looking forward to it.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Congrat Scott. Everybody outside the seven delighted yesterday. Mate, well done.
I'm glad you've enjoyed your day, enjoyed tonight and then
back to work. I appreciate you taking the time for
a chat though.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
No awesome, thanks jose No, thank you Scott.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Scott eid there. He's the assistant coach of the Southland
Stags who they're on the way to the sports allows
they might have already been there. He's smartest, stepped out.
He found a quiet space, didn't he. Well done Southland.
Terrific stuff. Canterbury coming to town to try and prize
it away from you on Saturday afternoon just after four
o'clock kickoff in that one. So yeah, if you're in
(04:35):
the the in of Cargol region. I'm not sure what
the situations with tickets, but I get the feeling Rugby
Park will be jammed to the rafters. Jammed to the
rafters on Saturday afternoon, and rightly so. You wouldn't put
it past Southland to beat Canterbury down there, you know.
If the shield wasn't there, you might say, you know what, Canterbury,
(04:56):
but that long of wood does funny things to rugby teams.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I'm quite interested to see what the odds are anyway
we can get to that.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
