Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Chiefs are on a roll right now. They're losing
their coach, but I think they probably want to title. Well,
we'll see and to talk about that. We're joined now
by Anton Lennett Brown all black at midfielder. It's a
warm welcome to Anton. Good morning, Good morning, another massive
day for the Chiefs. We're great. You guys are looking
(00:33):
at knocking off someone else to go three and oh,
although I suppose you don't really give that too much consideration,
do you. It's what's happening this afternoon?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, for sure. You know, we know Brumbies are quality
side and we'll go off to a good start, but
that means nothing. We don't get the job done.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
The SAVO when you're going into this match and you
look at the game last week, not your game, which
is impressive, but what happened with the Brumbies. That's a
high scoring game. Are you thinking that's a t and
seed towards more attack and less defense in the comps
so far? Does that come into your mind?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah? I think you know, there's been more points scored
than the recent history or then last year specifically, and
I think it's it's no different to any other week.
You look at what Brumbies are good at. You look
at opportunities you can expose, and yeah, I don't think
(01:32):
we read into a score line too much. We just
look at what presents itself. And yeah, that's what we'll
be looking to this other.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I know what they're looking at you. They're looking you
thinking we're going to watch that second forty minutes. You
guys turn into monsters in that second forty what happens?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah, I think, you know, we've just got such a
good depth in ours. God now and I think you know,
you look at our twenty three there's there's genuine experience
coming off the bench and I think what that brings
confidence to to step after, to bring speed into the
game and then to change it. And I think in
the last two rounds in particularly, credit goes to our
(02:11):
bench that just come on and Bond. I guess the
Blues and Crusaders away in that last thirty.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
You look at guys off that bench like to Pie,
isn't it great to see him coming back into full
health and into to full form midfield competition? But this
has been long overdue since that incident way back when.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yeah, for sure, he's he's looking fantastic, And you know,
I don't think people quite understand how hard it is
sometimes to bounce back from a major injury. I know
for myself. You know, as much as you want to
come back and be your best, you know, sometimes it
can take a little bit longer. And you know, last
year I thought, you know, he played well and showed
(02:55):
glimpse of his but this year he's just gone to
another level. And it's good to see.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
You're watching the frustration and the fellow injured player, and
you can try and offer all the support you can.
But it's so internal, isn't It doesn't matter what you say.
It's that faith in your body and the faith in
what you do and how you catch up.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, for sure, I think everyone's got to go through
your own journey. And I mean, you know, if you
play fully long enough, you're probably going to come across
a major injury at least once in your career. And
I think it's just how you manage managed to get
through it yourself. And I think you know, along the journey,
it's how you you know, it's your bleedy to endure,
(03:33):
to move on from those injuries and and just to
stay in it. And you know, I'm powder as of them.
And look where is that now.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'd say, Antonine Lenon Brown. There'll be the crowd hanging
off the grand stands to go and watch this at home,
such as the form that you're in. They'll be absolutely
loving it.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, Now, Hamilton's been great. Obviously it's a it's a
small community so when you are about its sports out
but you'd be awesome to see as many stands down
there the Sava and you know, afternoon forty how good.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Extremely good. Clayton McMillan, it was announced this week that
he's disappearing, is off to Ireland at the end of
the season, cutting short a year. My fear here is
that you guys aren't going to let him go away
defeated and this will just give you a new spark
plug won it for the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Ante On, Yeah, for sure, I think he's a man
that preserves as a championship. But I don't want to
look too far forward. You know, it's want to focus
sweep by a week. But yeah, obviously he's done great
things in this environment and no matter what happens from
here and out, he's left us place and a bit
(04:46):
of place than what he's found it. So yeah, big
up to then.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And what's he been randing about this week as far
as what he wants to see out there? It's hard
to improve on the performances, but there's always room when
it comes to the coaching staff. What does he want
to see?
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, you know, there's there's many a room for improvement.
I think you know, our set piece are scrumsing right,
you know, I line line out attack hasn't quite been functioning,
so it can be a bit of there and on
idea for we're more discipline, you know, we won't leave
teams in the game as much. So that's what we're
looking to do and really.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Looking forward to seeing that midfield combination you and Quintin
Pie all that work back in starting lineup again, get
in there cause a Ruca sant On, Leonard Brown, thanks
so much for your time, as always.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Go with please very much.
