You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk sedb.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Auckland FC picked up their first one of the A
League season first head out at Mount Smart last weekend.
They got the job done. They beat with Sydney one zip.
They're attempting to make that till on the bounce when
they take on Adelaide United at home once again. Cam
Howison is a midfielder for Auckland. He joins the show

(00:33):
now to preview this clash later on in the piece today, Cam,
hey mate, how are you very well looking forward to
the season progressing on? And I expect you guys and
Auckland FC will be looking to establish more dominance after
It's not a flat start of the season started off
with a you know, an away draw, then you got
the win last time around, but you'd be looking to

(00:55):
accelerate on that form, Am I wrong? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
We just want to obviously build on our momentum. Obviously
we had a tough away game first up against Victory,
a good i'd say a good result, no no, and
I win last weekend against a great side two clean
sheets which is very positive on the defensive side. And yeah,
we just want to build on that. We didn't be

(01:21):
beat Adelaide last season. I think it was two drawers,
so yeah, we want to get a win today.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, well they're sitting what like six on the table.
Off the top of my head, you're sitting in the
third Not that it means a great deal right now,
but you want to stay up at that top. What
do you need to develop? What's Kraker said about what
needs to be applied on the park this evening?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, I think it's still obviously early days. It's only
the third round. Today's still still early doors. We've obviously
added some new players this season, so it's all about
gelling together. But I think we did that very well
last week last weekend against Western Sydney. You could see
that on the pitch. And yeah, obviously clean sheets winch

(02:04):
games or George is the game, so we just want
to build on that. That's what we focus on a lot,
keeping the ball out of the back of the net
and then letting the forwards to their magic cup front.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
How's your form been. You've been off the bench for
the last couple of games, injecting yourself into midfield. I'm
sure we'd rather start, but what you've established and what
you've given so far, where does it sit for you?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, obviously coming off of the bench, it's a bit different,
different role, but yeah, I know my role at the moment.
The boys that are starting have done a terrific job
so far, so yeah, it's just about obviously in training
that just pushing myself but also pushing the players that
are starting. So yeah, just keep working on myself and
keep building and when on caught upon just being ready.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Do you like your new kitch's a bit flash?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, I think they've done done a great job this
season with the kits, so yeah, I like it. My
kids have got it as well, so yeah, I'm really
enjoying the kids so far. I think the fans are
as well.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Did the team charge you for that? To give the
kit to your kids?

Speaker 3 (03:09):
You get you get some perks with it, but yeah,
sometimes depending on results is sometimes you can you can
snag one, but yeah, majority of the times you just
get a bit of a Discobit all good.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I've got to ask this because I've got a pile
of playing Jeres. It's all over the shop. I think
only one ax anyone's played in regardless. My house is
full of them. You must have heaps from all the
clubs you have played for. What do you have like
a special stash to put them into? You know, when
you're old you can smell the sweet and go. I
used to be a pro footballer.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, you do. You do wrack up quite quite a
few shirts and some shirts of other players, and it
does take up a lot of room in your house,
so I get a few complaints from a partner. But
you know, some some really important ones, you know, I
have them around the house and stuff like that, so
you know, some good memories of some shirts. But yeah,

(04:01):
you do wrack them up for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
What what what's your favorite one? Is there a most
tree one you've gotten? Not suggested to be one of
your what twenty odd caps for the All Whites here?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, I think I've got my shirt against India where
I was lucky enough to captain an All Whites game,
So yeah, that one was very important for me and
got to keep the captain's arm band as well, So yeah,
it's probably my favorite out of the pick of them.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Have you still got anyone from Moscow from wayback when?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
From Moscow Wolf see that? Yeah, those ones are definitely
somewhere in the closet, but I don't think I was.
I don't think I was swapping shirts at at that age, you're.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Feared too, so you've got to progress forward. And I
have to ask, and you're probably sick of the media
mentioning it, but have you guys put to bed what
happened last year started off so well, it finished with
a bit of a have you processed that and gotten
rid of it? Kicked it to touch and you're moving on.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yeah, obviously it gets brought up from to time, but
you know, those things can happen in finals football. I
think you know, we still had a very successful season
last year and you know, we just want to build
on that and we want to go one step further.
Obviously you know we got the Premier's plate, but yeah,
we want to win all all trophies are possible. So yeah,

(05:26):
there's a lot of motivation in the camp and that
comes from the staff, which is awesome. And you know,
the levels of training is top and intensity, so it
puts us in good stead too, you know, And like
I said earlier before, it's early days, but when come
towards end of the season, we want to be there
or Thereabouts.
