Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Seven nineteen on the All Sport to Breakfast to Super Rugby,
Super Duper Rugby Pacific continues on the program, The Force
are and crushed. It's this afternoon skipper of the Crusaders,
and David Heavily joins us.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Now the morning.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
David, Yeah, great to be.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, well, great to have you on as well. I
expect your team would be rather upbeat after what happened
last week against the Reds. Looks like you guys are
on task again.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Yeah, it was great to bounce back after a bile weekend.
Obviously there's a lost Chiefs a couple of weeks ago,
so get the bonus point. One at home was siddy
great and yeah, I think we.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Sort of said market the last part of the first
part and get really kind of shot.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, you're back at home, you're back playing with the
suns on your back. Let's hope that works out that way.
What a great time to play rugby four thirty five
on a Saturday afternoon at hope you cann't.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Ask for more.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Yeah, it's great, right, that's goat for I guess the
fans as well. You know, they don't have to sit
in the stand for too long. It's going to say
suns on our back and it's great for us, and
have it wait around for too long. We see straight
into it. So yeah, come up against the Force this week.
So I'm really just looking to get another great one.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
What are the Force bring?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
What do you look at to what they We know
that you're concentrating yourself, it's the way things roll, but
you've got to look at the opposition.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
What have we got there?
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah? I think I vastly experienced four people obviously got
Dice to Swain running out in their reach. Prince with
a lot of ball carriers, and yeah, the Beck one,
it's got a lot of strike weapons.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
But you know, we're firmly focused on what we can
do around. Been able to exploit a.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Few things that we've seen over the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
So we've been a great training weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
We're looking forward to.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
The the game.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
What's the focus being on predominantly with Rob Penny with Peen,
so what's he been looking at?
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Certainly it's just a breakdown stuff. I think the rest a.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Really hot on lo at the moment, so giving a
real bread pictures, so we're not giving too many opportunities
to get back into our half, and it's just the
physical battle. This needs to be one.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
You talk about physical battle, Brandon and you a bloke
playing in the midfield with you, Hibby super stoked to
get things down. Do you what a bad run of
injury he's had.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Yeah, it's been really unfortunate for Braden, Like he's been
out of the year and a half. We obviously at
ACL and coming back from a rist injury now, so
I think he's just super heavy and grateful to be
back on the track and he's looking sharp, so he's
here in the go as well.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Out of the game against the Reds, you said, really
good ending, you lifted well the breakdown you're focused on.
Is there anything you want to eradicate from that game,
something that maybe you personally or maybe as a team
you didn't particularly like.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
I think sort of leaking a few points towards it
back into the first half and SIXD half, so sort
of tightened screws on there. We worked really hard around
being connected through the middle and making sure we're getting
their physical bettle so we're not leaking points in that
second half, but just ifa we had we've put in
the last couple of weeks around our defense has been great.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
So yeah, as far.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
As the competition itself goes, and and setting this into
view up there do we yarn about it, but really
interesting the way it's I suppose flattened out. You've got
teams winning that you wouldn't expect. You've got Australian teams
doing particularly well. This is almost like a complete competition,
isn't it David.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, it's great, right, it's it's certainly the games sped
up and the rest have definitely identified that want to
vote the game and make it make it quick, so
you're not seeing a lot of scrums, you're not seeing
resets or anything. There goes straight to free picks. And
I think it's over the last couple.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
Of weeks, anyone's game would sort of you know, the
last thirty minutes and it's it's been the fitter. So
it's been it's been great. You know, we don't know
who is going to win. I think it's awesome for
the consumer and the fans, and it just makes it
more exciting.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
What's been a consumer and a fan come on, David,
you using corporate buzzwords at me, mate.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Folks behind the TV and the fans of the game,
the ones the fans that actually pay Boks behind the
screen on.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
We can still we pay, We really do, trust me, Scott,
just put their put their.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Prices up, you know, we pay. Hey, what have you
been what have you been feeding?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Well? Jordan much of the same, I suppose. I can't
get over the form of that bloke.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Yeah, he shot at what he does. I think it's
just a credit to what he does each week.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
Like he's a smart and you're player, and he just
locks at the team and where you can see himself
pop up during the during the weeks and he.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Should just try to square a machine like we just
try and get the ball as much as we can.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
How's captaincy treading here? You're enjoying that role?
Speaker 4 (04:59):
It's pretty good. It's lots changed for me. I'm just
gonna focus on leading well and I'm playing well and
if I'm doing that, then the team should follow.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
What about your relationship with the referee? How's that going.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Are you enjoying the fact that you're the voice?
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, it's been pretty good. I haven't I had to
speak with them too much as to being good. But yeah,
I feel like I'm in a spot with the roost.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
And the relationship with the team and Rob Penny. Nice
to clear out what happened last year and start again
from the get go. You've been noticing changes and what
he brings to the party and how you guys react
to that.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Has that been focused on March or.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Not too much? He just gives us a pretty good
version of where we need to go, and he sits
out of the week really well for us, and then
it's about us as leaders going out there and applying
as plan. In the last couple of weeks he've done that.
So I'm looking through the same game supports.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
What's your jersey looking like? This week?
Speaker 4 (06:02):
We'll own man, So yeah, marble around this week. Ey,
team's got the own identity, which is cool when you
were in the Iron Man this week.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
David Everli looking forward to it.
