Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldegrave from News Talks.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Edb ateen Pass eight Adam Cooper with you on the
All Sport Breakfast this morning. Well rugby league now at
a domestic level, the National Men's Premiership Silver where we'll
be handed out this afternoon just south of Auckland at
Pullman Park where it's Auckland taking on Counties Monaco for
the national title. Been going for just over the past month,
the whole competition up and down the country and we're

(00:33):
into the finals today with the top two ranked teams.
And interesting about this one. These two teams met only
last week and it was a four point win and
a nail bite to Auckland. So Counties Monaco out for
revenge in today's National Premiership Men's Rugby League final. Let's
head into the Counties camp now. The captain Jamel Hunt
is with us. Jamel, morning to here. I guess if

(00:53):
last week's anything to go by, this boat's to be
a pretty interesting decider today.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeahs, I think this week been a lot of motivation
coming into this weekend. Obviously they got us last week.
Sort of a rematch almost feels like a two games
dismatch that last week. If you managed to get us
in the last four minutes, we finally sleeps there. But
we're definitely gonna better because they've got a full shrink

(01:20):
team this week. We know that they had a few
layers up with a few niggles and injuries, but they've
come back into the fold this week, so we're definitely
gonna have to be stronger.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, what were their strengths last week that might have
got them the edge over the India Think?

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Yeah, I think just capitalizing on the opportunities as they
keep them down their half for the first half. In
the first time they've all down the field, they managed
to point on us. So I think as long as
we're shutting the gate there and focusing on ourselves defively
and should be a right to put a lot of
taking Frits a very strong Shong pack. Once they put

(01:56):
that together, they're pretty hard to stop.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So just be a bit defensively and overall for your
county's Monaco team four from five, though in the round robin,
you can't be too disappointed with the way to see
and gone. Looks like you've had some pretty good success
across the ball through the season.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Yeah, definitely, considering our sixth week shus our short campaign.
We've come together a special two three weeks and then
manage to a few corombinations to you know, you're definitely
happy with the flight to five ones. Definitely need to
win today's one two.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
On the back of last week. What kind of game
do you expect it to sort of play out? Low scoring,
high scoring? You know, what's it indicating that a final
might be between these two teams?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah, definitely a low scoring game. I think we're both
defensively sound. I think there's a lot of riding on
this game, and I think everyone manages to turn up.
Players individual individually end up putting a bit more effort
into all the smaller areas. There's not as many cracks
in the defensive line as there would be during the campaign.

(02:59):
But yeah, big game for us today and I hope
they'll hold them up. Yeah. Great.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Anyone in particular that you want to shout out that's
contributed to your team pretty well this year and got
you got your turn this possession or has it been
overall a solid effort right across the park?

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Just over effort, I think, just a big shout out
to our management and our coaching staff. You know, they
put it on every request and they squeeze all the
effort into this short campaign. They make our job as
easy as players. But the players in general or the
lads are all revenue.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Go.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Yeah, just shout out to talk team as well.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah awesome. And in terms of the sport itself, you've
obviously played in it for for a while now. It's
sort of how competitive as the league being this year,
and you know, across the country, you think the sport's
in pretty good health.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I think it's it's definitely moving in the right direction.
I think that's all thanks to the wise movement that
have been developing over the last few years. I think
they've beasted that and that as a as a country,
I think a lot of you, you know, we're looking
to the all blacks and now I think I wasn't
even started that. Everyone's joking on the vand Reagan and

(04:10):
you've got a long young five six year old, seven
year old kids said the one to become all back
now want to become kwie. So I'm better. Its thanks
to the world's leved and master of the country.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, that's great to hear. Awesome stuff. I will all
the best for the final. Jamiel, thanks for giving us
a bit of an insight into how the team's are
preparing and hope it goes well. Get their defense ready
for for some some big tackling and everything as Yeah,
you look to hold off for Awklan today. Really appreciate
your time, mate.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
