Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Dancy
Waldgrave from News Talk ZEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Let's do what we always do. We love a bit
of tradition. Well I don't particularly, but you know habit
can kill you. Jim Dolan, Hello, my friend, how's a
star sport? How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I'm sick of the range. Old Sydney Town's been copying
it for the week, so we spent a bit bit
of time indoors.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Okay, well at this it's not flooding exactly. Sorry that
was mile of me, but there you go.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Move on. Yeah, tonight, we've got a young teen soup
rising star who's going to come head to head with
his idol in the position that he loves to play,
Jaxon Purdue. He's jumped onto the scene of the Cowboys
this year, scoring seven tries in eight games at the center,
and now he's doing a little bit of media since
(00:59):
he's created a bit of a buzz. He said, yeah,
he's never played center before this year. He's been moved
into the number six sturdy to play five eighth tonight,
which is the position he grew up playing, and he's
up against a man in the manly has the idolized
growing up daily. Cherry Evans went to the same school
as Jackson Purdue, Saint Patrick's in Mackay. He then, of
(01:22):
course went on to make his name at Manly, where
he's still playing and playing very well. And next week
the pair could be Queensland teammates in Origin one. So
there's a big upch deck projectory for Jackson Purdue. I'd
say he might learn a few lessons from the cunning
old fox and Cherry Evans. Tonight, the thing that's really
stood out is how quick he is. He's playing down
(01:43):
his speed, saying it just comes from his long legs.
He never did anything athletically as a kid. He's also
got a sense of humor because he says his dad
keeps telling him all the time he gets his speed
from him because he could really move when he was younger.
Jackson says he doesn't believe that.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Listens like how to dessert your team of fifteen years?
Is that what he's going to pick up? Cherry Evans,
I'm amazed man is still picking him.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I'd say he's more worried about which direction Dally is
heading on the field with the ball in his hand,
and these little slide of hand tricks there.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So unlike now I'll be a terrible in the I'll
be terrible playing sport, I can just look at it
and talk about it. So yeah, it would just move there.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
To me.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
We're pretty good at sledging expert.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
At sledging expert, my nickname and I played cricket was
toys because it actually gave me some plastic toys to
put in my kit. Because I'm so good at losing
my on the park and lipping people all the time,
that probably did that better than I took wickets. Anyway,
let's move away from that. Let's go to Australian's slipping
away at the PGA, and they're not alone Fox. He
(02:48):
hasn't had the best start either.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, Cameron Davis, we're all getting very excited about he's
alas failed to continue his body blitzit Quail follow over
the first round. He's now three over, he's minus two
for the tournament's three over today, so he's twenty second overall.
Adam Scott is also at there, so they'll both make
the cut. Jason Day one over through seven holes. He's
(03:11):
probably going to need to get under power and imagine
if he wants to safely make the cap. But yes,
Cameron Davis has a fair bit to do on the weekend.
And he's a young bloke from Sydney, Cam Davis. If
you ever get the chance and you're golfing, you like golf. Ever,
Look at him on YouTube. He's on a practice range
hitting five irons and he's just got a fantastic swing.
(03:32):
And then he does it left hand with a left
handed five iron, and there are many experts who say
that his swing wiks better left hand than right hand,
So imagine having that problem. He's so good you don't
know which way to play.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Wow, breaking news. Ryan Fox is actually climbing back up again.
He's tied for twelfth. He's minuted to pick up another stroke.
He's at minus three plus one for the day through eleven.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Just to rob last week. Yeah, I yan Fox, but
I know.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I think the term I like to use for Ryan
Fox and the way he plays as golf is agricultural.
When you talked about playing the game, he just says, yeah,
it's not getting them and smashing off the team. See
what happens is.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Lance Cans with a bat.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Yeah, absolutely, can you have a shoulders golf? Club a
silly dars and topic number three away from the Rising
Stars and there's slipping Aussies at the PGA. Let's talk
about Super Rugby waratas well. They fun with it. They
did steal a bonus point off the Crusaders last night,
(04:35):
but tonight we've got a begin Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
The Horror Stars did get a bit of press today
from there going lucky it was their last home game
because I can't see anybody turning up to watch next
week after their first half against the Crusaders. Tonight, we're
hoping we do a very very different story. The Reds
head to Canberra Stadium to take on the Brumbies looking
for a rare win, and they're both hoping to finish
in the top two spot for the finals and getting
(04:59):
a home game there. The Brumbies have won ten of
the last eleven between the two sides in the nation's capital,
but they also had a pretty good record against the
Hurricanes and they blew that a couple of weeks ago,
so Reds fans are hoping there will be a repeat
of that tonight and it will be a very tight
finish to see who is the top Australian side in
Super rugby before the finals, where they'll get a chance to, perhaps,
(05:21):
fingers crossed, do something to impress the Wallabies. Cakes.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I'm surprised you're not beating your chest about Oscar Piastree
again quickers and practice. He's having a phenomenal season so
far as that young.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Man jinks anything and you're never sure what the team's
going to tell him to do.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
He's gone. I saw a mean saw of mean yesterday
and it was cool things that Formula one stars own.
And I had a picture of Verstappen with a jet
next to him, and Alonso with a mansion next to him,
and Piastree with Norris next to him. Just state the obvious,
(06:00):
a mate, look after yourself. You have a fantastic weekend.
I'm looking forward to next week already got on you,
Jim Dolan.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Can you take some of the rain away from us?
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
We could deal a little bit of here. It's been beautiful.
You wouldn't believe it's about two weeks from winter here.
It's stunning global warming. Eh, bring some good, bring some bad,
so be it, Jim, thanks for your time. His news
Talk's EB seventy forty four. Cool about Ryan Fox eight
tied the twelfth, yeah Go Boy tied for eleventh.
