Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
And here's Jim Dolan. He'll bring all the joy to
the airways that we need. Go on and give us
a cuttle Jim.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Finally, Joey, you're not sharing in love with me?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Sure, let's talk NRL and let's talk about the headlines
in the NRAL, which is never really about love. It's
more like who's not playing? Is anyone actually broken from
Origin that's not turning up?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Jim? Yeah, Well, Callum Ponger didn't turn up last night.
That's upset a lot of Knights fans. He got rested
much against his will. The coach says that Kalen's an
angry player for not being allowed to play because of
an ankle entry he took into the Origin series. He
was not exactly his attacking best in Origin, so PA
(00:57):
decided he should miss that game and they went on
to be beaten by the Dragons. Then, of course, the
main man who's getting all the column inches this week
is Lucky Galvin and he's been released by the West Tigers,
but not before there was one more hitch. The Bulldogs
will now be asked for please explain. Galvin was snapped
(01:19):
training at Belmore before he got that release from the
West Tigers, so yeah, it's happened before. When they might
remember mister Wopman trained with the Warriors and they were
with the Dragons before we're securing a release and he
was fined. The club was fined forty thousand dollars, so
the Bulldogs might expect something the same. They've got the
(01:40):
buyer this week. Lucky Galvin likely to make his Canterbury
debut against Paramatta next weekend. That's, of course, the club
that he rejected a million dollars a season four to
go to the Bulldogs. And while we're still with players
who aren't playing but getting lines, Wayne Bennett has confirmed
South Us speaking with Tail and may possibly to add
(02:01):
to the Rabbit O squad before June thirty. He was
stood down earlier this year. Then the door at Penrith
when he was hit with domestic violence charges. They were dropped.
He's been in limbo ever since. Claimed the day and
the psych ward was like a month and he didn't
like the person they found. But he's a very different
man now and ready to return to football.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Just winding back to being spotted training with the wrong team.
What is wrong with these people? Would they think that
people have no eyes or no cameras, or they don't
talk or I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Understand closed training session. But the photographers won't be the
long lens through the hole in the gate mate.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
What do they expect anyway?
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Fans love that thing too.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Of course I have one expectation, and that is that
both teams will probably be wearing blue, will be as
you call them, the horror stars, a better stand up
and ruin things for the Blues.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, well it comes to an end today for the Warts.
It's been a long, lonely season, one that started well
with a good win first up, but it's a horror
show ever since. Of course there is that talk of
mathematically still being a chance at the finals, but all
they do is need to beat the Blues in Auckland,
like you say, the only problem being I think they've
(03:25):
only done it once in nearly one hundred years, and
nothing they've done in recent weeks some might say months,
would suggests that they're going to get close to them today.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
And that's what you're saying. There's still a chance.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Much I used to be with Elmick first and all
those years ago.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I'm hoping for a good afternoon's they can average out
there so they can all see when they go. There's
a mathematical chance, which to me says the Warriors. That's
always the case from the waratas to the Warriors, mathematical chance.
Let's move to our last topic. Is cricket going on?
Speaker 3 (04:04):
You're kidding me right, We've got the World Test Championship.
It's a bit I think it's eleven or twelve days
away Australia take on South Africa and the Australian side.
From an interview with the coach this week, he seems
to have indicated that it's mainly decided and settled except
for the top order. His opening spot seems to be
(04:25):
the tricky bit, and that seems like the only place
that Marnus Labasca might fit. With Cameron Green, the all
rounder returning potentially just as the top order batsman, the
rest of the top order pretty much settled against South Africa.
Marnus hadn't exactly been knocking the world down in the
wall down in county cricket with some big scores, so
(04:47):
he may have a lifeline in that last opening spot,
because it seems Selecteds are then looking towards Sam constas
for the series against the West Indies, which starts pretty
much after South Africa. Then of course we've all got
the actions this summer. We're looking forward to that. So
the thing is what happens if Marnus does take that
lifeline and start as opener and then scores a couple
(05:08):
of centuries against South Africa. Does that throw Selectors plans
in for the West Indies and later this summer into
chaos and Manus gets another chance? Or is this the
end of Marnus's a very very very erratic career for
a traine cricket. The man it counts, it still no the.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Entire South African attack, even maybe some of the batsmen
who don't ball, they'll all be wanting the ball straight away.
If Marnus is going to open, you can feel the
energy around him, the fog around him going into batle.
It's worth watching just for that, I'd say. And on
that one, Jim, have a tremendous weekend, have faith in
your tars and it's not over till it's over, Okay, Jim,
(05:53):
I killed my mate Jim Dole in our Australian correspondent.
