Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from news Talk zedby twenty six.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
On the All Sport Breakfast, we go now to the
Northern Stars versus the Central poulse Aynsed Premiership action the
so afternoon and part of the Stars lineup is Lily
touting doing do She joins us now Tomria looking forward
to today. I'd expect after what happened last week up

(00:33):
against the Tactics, I think you might have hit your straps.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Lily, really excited for today's game. I'm being able to
go out on court and play. Obviously we had a
win last week, so just excited to play with the girls.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
What did you pull out of that game for yourself?
I know the netball fanatics, the talk around was that
that was quite the game. It was like almost announcing yourself.
What only the second year of competition.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, the second well, there was actually like a don't
game much took out a lot like fun. We had fun.
We had good connections with our d end so that
kind of like showed how I played on court. I
was having fun. I got ball a lot of ball
because we were all setting up for each other, so
it was good that we all felt connected in our

(01:22):
d end. So yeah, it was a really fun good game.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Well, you got to have fun if you don't, what's
the point.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Right, right? Correct?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
And I have sports words yourself and your and your
position and moving. It's only your second year in the competition.
Obviously you've been elevated because a few injury issues. Are
you Are you comfortable now on the dress?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yes, Well, go defence is actually I did not play
go defence at all last year, so it's actually a
new position for me in this environment, and I'm actually
enjoying it. Like it's a lot of running compared to
go keep because you're just allowed in one third, but
now I'm running a run in two thirds. So yeah,
I'm actually enjoying it. And I feel like as we've
done the work in preseason, you know a lot of

(02:04):
running gym. Yeah, just uncomfortable now, So yeah, it's fun again.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
We go back to that this is good to hear.
It really is. Well the new laws in place, the
new we can shoot from three point five and get
extra points in your position? How does that upset or
interrupt your rhythm or your flow? Although you've moved from
D to d from K so maybe that's a stretch anyway,
so maybe you don't see that, but what have you

(02:30):
done in that space, because this is the new big
innovation this year.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, it's obviously new in A and Z, and I
feel like having Remy as well, our Aussie defender, she
obviously have played that strategy before and learning from her
helps a lot too, because we can be living in
a game and then the other team can just be

(02:54):
they can just beat us literally by just the last
five minutes because of the two point shots. So it's very,
very important that we are all connected until the end
of the resource, making sure we're covering. We're in those twos,
in those twoes to obviously get rid of the shooters
shooting from there. So yeah, it's actually hard defending from there,

(03:19):
especially when we have like good shooters that can shoot
long range.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Anticipation huge. You've really got to predict where it's going
so it can be in the right space, which is
kind of quite tough to do. But the longer you
play with this new role, the more comfortable people become
with that. And also the communication between the players between
in various areas they play, and that's also I think

(03:46):
very pertinent.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah, absolutely, I feel like your communication is very important,
especially in a team sport. You're not just playing by
so you have your other player, your other buddy who's outside.
You know, we're trying to get ball, and we need
to connect to get into set, to create for each other,
create those snowballs, and yeah, getting just getting ball to

(04:09):
win games.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I'm free to are this afternoon. Seem to pass us
at four o'clock at the Pullman Arena. You're up against
the Pulse. How much time do you've been worrying about
what they bring?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Well, we've had a week after the tactics games, preparing
for the Pulse, training, looking forward to pause, and we've
I think I have full belief in the team that
we are ready to bring. We're ready to play them
and to win.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Tell me about yourself, finally, what do you look at?
Where are your improvements? Where are they required? Because you
be your harshest critic, I'm sure i'd.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Say like bringing the ball through the court. Also like
I'll work on for me as well, But I feel
like more comes, especially on my position and just trying
to make myself available and being an option to have
has the ball in hand. So I can just turn
and look down and give it to I should have.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, plean you get to concentrate on plea, You get
a focus. But the big thing I'm hearing from you
is enjoy yourself. Liliv Toklan, do a dour thank you
so much for your time. Play well, play hard, play fair.
