The All Sport Breakfast with Duncy Wildgrave, Used Talks, EDB.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
It's all about the now. Forget about what's happened, It's
all about what's going to happen. We're looking forward to
the A League semi final Leg one tonight in Australia
and we're joined now by Logan Rogerson. Good morning, Logan,
good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
How's it going?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah? Good understatement for you? But how up for it
are you? After all of the money to get you
to the stage and now none of that counts for anything,
does it. It's all about a result over in Melbourne exactly.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, obviously pretty excited. It's my kind of first experience
in a league playoff playoff series, so yeah, obviously I'm excited.
I try not to get too nervous or I try
to prepare normally this week, but yeahs you know, we've
had a great season this year, so we're looking to
top off.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, a top season from the team that was How.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Important is it for you and the other players? And
I don't know if you tailor make this too. If
you're feeling excited, you're feeling up to it, was actually
running with that, or if you're maybe not the kind
of character and you'd rather just be nice and calm
and measured. Isn't it even encouraged by correct to actually
be you?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Like obviously, you know, during the week, you know, we
try to keep the process the same like we have
done all season, and it's worked for us.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
But you know, we're all human, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
It's a big games, so yeah, obviously I can only
speak myself, but obviously, you know, night for the game,
you know, you start to think about it a little
bit more than maybe.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
A normal regular season.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
But yeah, I think I think it's normal in sport, right,
these are the games you want to play in. We're
fortunate enough to be in this position, so yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Big game slogan. Do you rise to the occasion? Historically
right the way through your younger care three teen years
and the like as well? Is this something that works
for you? Does this give you an extra injection of enthusiasm,
of pace of aggression?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah? I think so.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I think Also probably, you know, maybe I don't know,
maybe if you take you end up taking a bit
more time or like trying maybe you try and think
a little bit more about what you're doing in these games,
because obviously, you know, if you put a step out
of line or something and there's more risk involved, then

(02:36):
you know, there's only one off games, So you know,
maybe you try and tackle these games with a little
bit more caution. What's the decisions that you make.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Difficult space, But I suppose in your professional career and
also with your international experience, you just got to back
yourself that you will you'll make that call. You spend
too long thinking about it, it's going to go wrong.
It's instinct, surely.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Yeah, well obviously there's a big degree of that as well.
And yeah, I hope you know, I'm not a young
player anymore. You're coming twenty seven at the end of
this month, So yeah, I backed my experience playing overseas.
You know, I've played some European qualifying games with some
clubs in Europe and obviously playing for the national team
as well, just qualified the World Cup.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, you kind of go off the back of those experiences.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
And you know try and you know, be a bit
calm and composed in these bigger games.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
I like the way you just slid that in. By
the way we've qualified for the World Cup. You know,
you compare the energy around this compared to playing for
the All Whites. Is there any comparison between where the
sits and the international game.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I think the biggest, you know, the probably similarities with
it is you know that a lot of us are
q is you know what I mean with this Auckland
FC team and I think you know, I've played with
a lot of these boys. You know, I've known some
of them for ten years, and you know, to be
able to go into a final series, you know, with
boys that I've known for a long time. Yeah, it's

(04:07):
similar to the All Whites. You know, we've gone through
the age group stuff together and to be able to
qualify for a World Cup, I think it gives you
a little bit more knowing that you know the guy
next to you, you've known for a long time and
it's been both of your guys dreams to you know,
represent your country, go to a World Cup and then
you know, to win, to win trophies with your club

(04:27):
is very similar.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Well, this Legan goes back to this instinctive situation. Doesn't
have you got men around you that know how you work,
how you roll, and how you operate in various conditions,
being in stress or whatever. They're going to bet a
mix and match it with you a whole lot better.
Same you then, because it's I don't want to say
esp because it sounds a bit bit happy, but it

(04:49):
is the sixth sense. But between the players or am
I completely wrong?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
No? You one hundred percent right.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
You know, like you're going into the trenches with these
guys and you might need them to pull you out
of a difficult situation, and you know vice versa.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
So no, no, you're right there.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
And as far as your ability with a boot, what
have you managed to score? Let me get this right,
Eight goals so far the season, so you'd be feeling
pretty good about maybe pocketing a few more.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah, I think on a personal it's been probably my
most You've scored the most goals of season I have
in any other season of my career. So you know,
obviously in these big games, would be nice to contribute,
you know more so, Yeah, obviously going into the being
attacked as well, your team relies on you for goals

(05:39):
and assists her. You know, hopefully I can do the
business and these upcoming games.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Why is it happened? Why suddenly you started scoring a
whole lot of goals? Can you pinpoint anything specifically.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
I think it's got a lot to do with the
quality around me obviously, you know I play on the
right and you know Francis Deis I've got Sometimes I
just do the easy bit of tapping it into the
back of the net. But you know, there's a lot
of quality coming in from crosses. We've scored a lot
of goals from set pieces. I kind of just stand there,
you know, ball hits me and goes in and I'm

(06:12):
the one that gets to run off and celebrate. But yeah,
a lot of it has to come down to the
quality around me.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
You know the team.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
The team itself has played, you know, very good season
and a lot of boys have had you know, good
seasons this year, so that helps as well.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Well.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Can you tell us about Melbourne Victory? That you're playing
an Amy Park, which is a scene safet in a place.
I've never played there, but I've been watched games to go,
But what what do you know about Melbourne? What are
the threats that come from them?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
I think Victory probably have you know, one of the
strongest front lines in the in the league. The front
four very dangerous and yeah we you know, obviously we
played them last game and it was a tough game
but we managed to get a you know, eternal result
against them. But las week against Western Sydney, they were
very dangerous and yeah, especially their front line. You know

(07:04):
they've got wingers, tricky wingers, sick, very good in one
one situation. So you know we're going to have to
be very solid defensively to try and yeah, figure out
their attacking players.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
It's all on for love and money. Nine thirty five Tonight,
New Zealand time coming from Melbourne, Auckland FC up against
a victory. Make it count so when you come back
for leg two, it's a celebration right from the first whistle.
Logan Rogerson, thanks so much for your time. I'd say
more strength to your arm, but if you use your

(07:37):
arms in all sorts of trouble, so more strength to
your leg.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
