The Breakers are expecting a physical test from the Adelaide 36ers as they look to build a key run of wins.

The side got back on track from their loss in Christchurch with a big 93-87 win in Sydney, despite having four players out injured.

Co-captain Parker Jackson-Cartwright says they weren't physical enough against the Kings, and it's been one of the main things they’re working on.

PJC catches up with D'Arcy Waldegrave to preview their clash at Spark Arena.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Dancy
Waldegrave from News Talks.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It'd Be and the Old Sport but Breakfast at Talks Hoops.
Now we're joined by a poker, Jackson Catt right as
we look toward tonight's game up beginst Adelaide at thirty
six is pe JC Welcome to the program. Are you well?
Are you and do you pumped for tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Feeling great? Feeling great? You know, it's a big one
for us tonight at home in front of our in
front of our good fans, and we're looking for another
go win.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Guys have had an interesting last few games, haven't you.
When you look at what happened against Southeast Melbourne Phoenix,
you must have looked deep into each other's souls and gone,
what the hell was that? Because you bounced back, didn't you.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I mean that's you know the parody of sport, and
you know this this league, you know, any anything can
happen on any given night, and it's just a testament
that that shows like if you don't bring it, you
will get beat, you know, and we know who we are,
so it's you know, bouncing back was the only on
our minds and moving forward, we have to keep our

(01:08):
foot on the gas.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
How much do you shoulder because you're kind of the
go to god, there's a lot resting on you, and
of course all the breaking nations stuck that he came
back and resigned. But did you feel it, White Pocket?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I mean, I just always feel like I have some
type of responsibility. You know, that's a point guard just
a point guard's mindset. You know, I feel like I
always have a heavy weight just to lead a team
and do my job at the highest levels. So if
there's no pressure to you know, on my shoulders, that's

(01:43):
really heavy. I just I trust my team. I trust
these guys, and you know, we really have a great group.
We've really come together these last few weeks and it's showing.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Sounds like you're in a comfortable space there though. You
appreciate the pressures and the desires, but they don't bother
you too much. It's just part of the gig, sure.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
I mean, as a professional athlete, you know it comes
with it, you know it. I've been doing this for
a long time and you know it's our right to
go out and compete at the highest level. And you know,
that's that's a great rate to have. You know, we
love playing this game. I love playing this game. So
anytime I step on the floor, you know, I give
them my aw.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Packer Jackson Cartwright. It joins us. And it's grossly unfair
to look at you and say you are the focus,
because it's a team game. You got the starting five,
you got everybody off the bench there all important. We
saw that up against the Sydney Kings, from the likes
of Matt Mooney chiming and carrying low Piers what he
got up to as well. There were some really talent

(02:39):
contributions from the team when you consider what you had
four guys out for the count. So that's MESSI that
they step up like that.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, when you have guys out, you even have to
like in more on doing it by committee. Right, So
I think the thing about this team is guys have
major strengths and when you do it together, it just
brings out, you know, the biggest way as a team,
we've just learned how to come together on the floor

(03:09):
and trust each other more and more. And when you
come against a team like Sydney, you have to do
it together, and we did that. We got contributions from everybody.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Are your numbers play? Do you look at the end
to the box score and go ooh, I did good?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
No, I mean I I truly judge myself. I win
or lose it. I mean, if we won the game,
I know I played some well in some type of regards,
So I'm not I got I that is worried about
pointing minus is important to me as well as winning
the game. So you know, if I can impact the game.
And you know, I had a game where I didn't

(03:43):
shoot well, but you know I did everything else I
felt like and help my team. So I want to
do what's best for my team in every possible way.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Paca, where's Taka? We're all pretty keen to see if
he's going to suit up, sign out. What's going on?
Is he close? Do you think Taco is man?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
He's he's he's in the process. You know, he's been
here and he just jails so quickly with everyone. And
you know, I think having him in the States really
just got him keen on everybody, and everybody's happy to
have him here. So I'm not sure as far as
when he'll be back with us on the floor, but

(04:19):
you know, he's he's around and everyone's happy to have here.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
What about the guys coming back from injury. Mitch mccaren's
got the dice he name? Or Haby King, what's he got?
He's got a quote issue. I think Max Darling, uh A,
Dane Penot. That's four key players out. How close to
that to returning to the floor do you think?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Well? I mean the good thing is every waking day
is a step closer for them to return it, you know,
So that's good. But learning how to win without him,
you know, I think that that's the big thing. You
knowing that we can win games with without those guys present,
and knowing that they will come back in the fold
and help us for the for the latter stretch. So

(05:03):
you know, those guys are doing everything they can to
come back, and we know that they're ready to come
back and make an impact.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
And taking what you can from that fantastic away victory,
what do you need to implement coming out this evening
when you take on at like thirty six? So I
think just below you on the table, don't you? So
they are clear in prison danger? What do you need
to bring you can take out of that last exchange?
Ever in Sydney.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I mean there's a lot of takeaways, you know, but
there's also a lot of things that we have to
improve on.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Adelaide's they're tough, they're a confident group, they play together
and obviously they have talent. So you know, with all
that combined, you have to play your best game. You know,
you take away with you what we did from the
last game in Sydney, and you know, we come in
with the same type of confidence confidence tonight, and we

(05:53):
do it in front of our fans, which is going
to give us a huge boost and.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
It'll be banging always. This great place to go and
watch sport, great place to watch basketball, get along the
too the arena tonight if you can get it, check
its breakers. Adelade thirty six ers tip off is at
seven thirty Parker Jackson Cartwright, thanks so much for joining
us here on News Talk ZB. Stay fit, stay safe,
go well.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Thank you have a good one. Thanks for having me.
