Speaker 2 (00:21):
They passed us seeve on your Sport Breakfast. Time for
Super Rugby Pacific. Can we go out to the conquerors
of the Crusaders last weekend. We're joined by fullback William Billy.
Good morning, William.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Good morning, Thanks having me on.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Thanks for joining us. William, What an amazing last couple
of weeks before mine and Pasifka. You've managed to beat
a couple of top teams and Super Rugby. So what's happened?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah, we were after the bye. We obviously wouldn't get
the result against the chase spot we had half. We
just talked about knowing our game and how we want
to put in also like starting, well, we got there
all together. We just put all one.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
The big thing here, I suppose is consistency continuity as
opposed to falling off the ball from time to time.
You've actually strung together very responsible eighty minutes. You've kept
on going and that's all your mental space, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, Yeah, well that's we're just going to be mentally
switched on. We speak about it a lot of our
trainings as well. Our start and also that start of
the second half is key for us. We're finding it
easy working score points when we get down at the
twenty two. It's just how we nullify other teams getting
momentum and how we stop that moment.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
This took manpower, William. Where does the strength and this
team lie currently? A couple of changes from last week,
but where do you think the grist is with this side?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
I think we've had a few chators, but I think
what's been really big for us this year we've actually
got quite a lot of depth. So the next person
and jobs just get them do their job right. So
MESSI two pols. He's come back after having a week off,
and he'd be one to watch, I'd say, but I'm
just really liking the debt we've got on our team

(02:18):
this year, and he runs really Binden.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
You've got one hall. How a injury list there, mister
HARTVILLI what happens when some of these guys come back?
Because there are some big names in the sick bay.
I suppose all of that that jostling for position, knowing
that the players have got to be at their best
when some of the cavalry come right back and again
that is only going to strengthen your depth.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, exactly, everyone's competing for spots at trainings every week,
so making everyone work harder and really just understand how
we want to play. And obviously there's no big egos
in the team, so just as you get that opportunity,
you just take it with both hands and if you're
playing well, you're going to get rewarded with a start.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
So yeah, Miracle going, I think it's a hamstring situation.
Played really well against the Saders last week. So where's
Miracle out at the moment.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, he's been. He's been awesome for us. He's he's
a good line out option. He's it's always a big boy.
He really is really physical. He really compliments Ardie and
Lucy's But yeah, unfortunately for him, but I'm sure he'll
be back.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And Lala Milow Squared is also back in the frontline again.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
You know, he's awesome too. He's sort of had off
and on injuries one week and in one week, so
really good to see him get consistent, consistent minutes in
that midfield with Denny as well, you're both going well
as well as long as as long along with Epsila
as well, he's also going good. So yeah, the sport

(03:54):
for choice.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yet, tell us about Patrick Pellegrini. He's made quite the
splashed since he's arrived at old teammate of yours. You'd
numb reasonably, well.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah, No, Pet's a good man and I've played with
him at the World Cup and yet back to that
with Tonga and know he's awesome. He's really enjoying the
opportunity getting that more on and he's seen it for
his performances. His looks calm and he's steering the team
around real good and anything I can do at the
back to help him make a bit of shelf the

(04:25):
shoulders as well. So now, Pat, Pat's good man.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
How about you.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Joining us on the All Sports breakfast mate? How good
is it to actually have a consistent home venue?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Oh, it's awesome. We felt like we've created a little
community out here at North Harbor Stadium. Obviously we couldn't
get to Tonga this year for some reasons, but it's
awesome been over on the shore. We've got little communities there.
There's quite a few Tongues and Pacific Islanders out here
and also his few South Africa and stuff. They get

(04:58):
to our games, so it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, William, you've been in this team since they get
go and slowly but surely you're getting more traction. So
what do you put that down to? What you think
is the big driver behind improving in this side?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Probably just having that mindset of known that we belong
in this competition and that when we get our game right,
and we just talk about a lot about the back
compliment and forwards and our team trying to get them
all of our forwards we want to save their energy.
And then when we get into that that like half
of like thirty twenty two to the goal line, we

(05:33):
want to come away with time. So yeah, just knowing
that we belong in this competition and also just each
year just seeing us going, like learning our identity and
knowing what we want to be in our game.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Amazing result last weekend. I'm sure that your bro wouldn't
be overly happy with what happened when his Crusaders got rolled.
How the text and phone calls going, you're rubbing it
in a wee bit most.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Of the family was there. The game was quite a
petty he can play, but seeing them after the game
and it's all good luck. It's finally good to get
one over them. Hadn't got one, but I finally got one,
which was good, especially crossed.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
How was David Zach Hillies anyway? You've been in touch?
I presume how long do you think? No, I'm not so.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I think it's just a little little No. Rue should
be out for two I don't think just precautionary stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
I'm presuming now as well, William, of the last few weeks,
you must say the internal team confidence to genuinely believe
that you can roll anyone.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, we feel like we're we're well in billy In.
We had a few we had a pretty slow start
to the year. We can get a couple of wins
that we thought we should have won. But we're hoping
they have a good, good block before good five week
block for a bus and hopefully we can get make
the most get the most winds out of this five
week block for us, and then hopefully after that we're

(06:54):
in good spot.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Fin's up, William, thanks very much for joining us.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
