Speaker 1 (00:00):
After the Tamurka sale yards. You can hear it. You
can hear in the background the sound effects that we've
put on especially for you. Today. It is day two
of the big calf sale up there, and I think
the IHC Calf and Rural Scheme Barry Fox from PGG
Rightson are doing rather well out of us. Good afternoon, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Good Joe. Yeah, I've been a busy couple of days
and we've just sort of started about half forty minutes
ago on the beef cross section of the sale. But
it's going good.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Well. Beef's gold at the moment. I think you did
the freezings as I said yesterday, and you'd expect the
beef calves today to go for more. What's the early indication.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, what sort of looks like we didn't obviously yesterday,
being the freegans are predominantly bulls. We just finished the
spear section today and looked the pricing is certainly very good,
but the quality of the calves is also good. You
know my mention of the donated calves yesterday, I think
we had about two hundred and twenty from across the region,
including omri ones. We brought up to tamoke it you

(01:00):
thing of either dry and or vtago. But you know,
I think we're two hundred and twenty. Our calved average
six hundred and sixty or six hundred and seventy dollars.
So yeah, the quality of the bigger portion of freezings
was very good from the farmers this year.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, as old Craig Heckman, dairy man, he's I know,
he's a great supporter of the I actually carf and
rural scheme, as he sent some down from his Ashburton Eldorado.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Very much. Quite possible. We've, like you say, processed over
about three hundred of them individually. So I can't remember
everybody's names, but quite possibly you would have been there.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Hey what sort of money are you getting for these carves?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Oh? Look just today on the top here for calves
there it's a mixture of venus obviously the cherlets. Literally
about five minutes ago we're about seven hundred and twenty
dollars for the first end at icy there were one
hundred and fifteen kilow average seven hundred and ten. But
look at the prices. We nine hundred and forty is

(01:58):
the top price for some cherallets. But they're obviously not
the I see that. Yeah, it's top play so far
there and I think some of their balls later and
with the heavier weights will achieve that.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
So pretty good for that's amazing money. So just well
put me right in the listeners. So these are carves
obviously spring early springborn calves.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, I looked over Ryn's particularly we're off cow, but
they were springborne as well. But yeah, they are the
majority here would be milk out of it. Yeah, there's
a handful escifuly, but you know the ways that some
of these have been and they have been yeah in
the jaw mid July at the very earliest thing in
the south line here, and so the rearing has been

(02:40):
been done very well on most of them. See that.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I actually is so thankful for all the support the
farmers give to them. It's going to be a bit
of a windfall for this wonderful charity. You guys at
PGG Rights, and I do give you a pat on
the back and your boss, Peter Newbolt, because your stock
agents are doing a hell of a lot of work
for the love of it here and for a very
good cause.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, and we appreciate the fact obviously the farmers bearing
the cars. That yes, there's a bit of time involved
with processing, like every animals as they come and it's
got their own paperwork and do the change of legislation
three months ago. Some of the paperwork was on old
ASD so they all needed to be rung again and
asked for a new one to be sent in. But

(03:22):
you know, and the background of it is the money
going to the IC. And we had a group of
m yesterday which was fantastic, so they got to sit
and watch the cars being sold and yeah, so when
you see we're deending up and helping out that it
makes it worth while.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Well, Barry, I know you've got to jump in your
car and head to another venue. So you've got my
phone number. Now, just give me a text and let's see.
That's great sound effects in the background. Let me know.
Let me know the top price for those beef calves today.
Very good And of course you are North Otago Rugby Royalty.
I looked you up. I stalked you, Barry. Eighty four

(03:57):
games for the old goals very good team north Otago
in the late nineties, early two thousands. I don't know
where you've caught up on this but the Rugby World
Cup pool draw has come out. We're in the same
pool as Australia. Probably play them in the opener. But
whoever wins that Paul has to face most probably South
Africa and a quarter. Would you chuck a game? Is

(04:17):
that in your DNA to miss the South Africans.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Look, I wouldn't say that live on air, possibly, but
it'd say yes.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
That might be Ray's's greatest coaching strategy.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Great scenario going through to meet them in the corner
of it.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
No, well, imagine if you're playing Australia in the opening
game in person. They're wanting to chuck it, You're wanting
to chuck it. It could end into a disaster.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Well yeah, it could be like watching a senior B game.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
And meaning, good on you, Barry Fox to you and
all the team at PGG Rights, and you guys do
a wonderful job.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Well done, great Thanks Shamy,

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
