Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's said to Hawks Bay they used to hold the
Ranfordy Shield. It's found a new home now in Tasman,
and I hope they can keep it. I hope we
can keep it in the provinces now that it's gone
from hawks Bay to Tasman. Anyhow, I digress. There we
find PGG Rights since National ghost Stock manager. His name
is Jamie Milloyd. Jamie, before we talk about this livestock
trading enabler or this finance product, talk to me about

(00:24):
the season in hawks Bay, because I can tell you
down the bottom end of the South Island we need
to turn the tap off.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, Jamie, Yeah, good to talk. We've had a good
season here, a pretty mold one depending where you are
in Hawk's Bay. It's a pretty big province. But we've
got through pretty well. It's been very warm lately rainfall,
but we probably need another share of rain now. But
compete to some other regions, we're doing pretty well. Really.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, I guess in Hawk's Bay you would never literally
turn down rain from this time of the year onwards. Hey,
you attended Flockhouse. Did you go to that reunion in recently?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Unfortunately I didn't go to the reunion but I heard
a lot about it and I wish I could have.
I couldn't go. But we're having our own reunion for
our just our year group first week October, so we're
in Hamilton, so I'm really looking forward to that ketch up.
A few old faces basically went with some disaster Master's
younger brother. He was in my year, so he was
double disaster. Oh yeah, we had a good, good group

(01:25):
of guys.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Let's get to the topic at hand, go stock. So
we've been talking on the country this week, Jamie about
some of the issues and I almost call it rotting
farmers from the banks, especially when it comes to overdraft rates.
You've got a product out there to help enable farmers
to buy live stock and they don't have to go
cap in hand to the bank.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
That's right, ghostop we Steve said in twenty sixteen, probably
coming out of the need for it from the way
banks were three farmers at the time. There's an opportunity there.
So it's that the stocks it's on our balance sheet,
not for farmers, so that's the difference there. And it's

(02:10):
for trading stock only, not capital stock, so we put
it on there. It's been a really good cash for
enabler for those farmers, especially the younger farmers have really
really taken it on board. And this year we'll have
a milestone of three million lambs through the product and
nearly four hundred and fifty hours and here cattle, so

(02:31):
it's been really successful from studying for nothing.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
How long a term can you take for this?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It's twelve months for cattle, in three hundred days for lamb,
and then eighteen months for dairy, so we do dairy, beef, lamb,
and deer. So yeah, it's for trading stock, so in
and out basically within in a twelve month eighty month per.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
How many hoopes do you have to jump through in
terms of filling in forms?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Well, that's the key. It's very SIMI it's not a
finance product as such because it's signing our books. It's
not we're not giving out money. We're buying the soft
and we own it bgw Awinn's it so simple documentation.
We can turn around in twelve twenty four hours and
it's a low dock, there's no fishal center and that's

(03:18):
where I think the farmers really appreciate about it.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, good sounds like a good product before I let
you go. How are the markets going well? And I
hate the term green shoots, but we seem to be
using it a bit. Are we seeing a bit of
light at the end of the tunnel for the land market.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I think we are just talking to the processes. It's
sort of a slow burn the air, and it's there
has been opportunity out of China pulling back, you know,
opportunity with Europe. There's some of those tariffs coming off
the US. It's got strong. We've put more products into
those markets, which has been good, but we really need

(03:54):
China to come back and they're starting to show at
a sign of that now. But yeah, like you said,
there's a slow then.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, absolutely, Yeah the US, I'm not sure we want
Trump to get in there with this ten percent tariff.
Mind you, if we can't send our beef and maybe
we can send cats and dogs over there, which is
very cheeky of me to say that anyhow, Jamie molloy, look,
thank you very much. If farmers want to find out
about ghost stock, this livestock trading scheme, enabler, who do

(04:22):
they talk to?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Just their local rep give myself a ring, would look
at our PW website. You'll be able to find a
link the Heaven talk to you.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Got on you. We'll send some rain from Southland up
to Hawk's Bay for you.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
See you later, Thanks Jamisis
