Stay Away from Me.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Well, just like our Prime minister, we are hitting stateside
this morning to catch up with our US correspondent out
of Washington, d C to talk hurricans. Amy Saylor, Morning, Amy.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Morning, Bka. I'm going to have a couple with the
Prime Minister. I think maybe if I can make my
way into d C, which I can't.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh well, I'll give him a shout out for you.
Tell him you you seen your regards. So we're talking.
We're talking hurricanes, and there's a couple about the hit town.
Beryl's one of them. That's the devastating one, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Oh yeah, so Beryl hit Category one, big hit to Texas,
left about one point five million without power. But there
are a few others of the political nature of hitting DC.
The first one I'll talk about is the seventy fifth
annual NATO Summit in DC this week, thirty countries from
around the world, and it just brings a wave of

(01:04):
security personnel protocols closure that really just shuts the shuts
the city down, as if a hurricane hit it. I mean,
you know, streets impassable, pretty much. Everything shut down. The
Metro even is is shut in different areas. My brother
lives down there, and he said, don't come. I don't
know if you have any business. I'm doing this training

(01:25):
this week. He said, is it in person? Is in DC?
I said no. He said that's good because you're not
going to get anywhere near the city. Yeah. So that's one.
Do you want to know about the other one?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You tell us about the other one.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So Hurricane je well it's really Biden's future. Right, people
are talking. I mean, the whispers are not so much whispers,
but it's the hurricane right, Wall Street, top executives black Rock, Blackstone, Bizart,
Centerview Partners, a former UBS executive, former Treasury Secretary Robert

(02:02):
Rubin all spent the weekend chatting about what to do.
Medium moguls from Netflix I C. Rob Rein or Disney
air heiress Abigail Disney has said she's cutting off the spigot,
not donating another penny if it's still going to be Biden.
And they're all, you know, really mad at Jeffrey Katzenberg,
who's Biden's co chair. To get celebrities to come in

(02:25):
because they've been saying that he has been age washing
is what they're calling it, Biden, So they're mad, and
the leading Dems had this virtual meeting on Sunday, all
the ranking committee members saying that it's time for him
to pull out of their ice. All off the record,
of course, in anonymous, but it was led by Hakeem Jeffries.

(02:47):
We talked about him last week. He's the House Minority leader,
and at least six key committee members expressed concerns about
Biden's ability, not just his cognitive abilities, but his ability
to win with or stating he should outright withdraw. So
the question is why hasn't he stepped down yet? Right, Yeah, Well,

(03:08):
it's because the swing state support hasn't really shifted according
to the polls, despite the overall polls showing that he's
six points behind Trump, which is not good. Then there's
the deep opposition to Trump. Top donors are still saying
that they're unlikely to turn off the top so that's

(03:29):
kind of important. But I really think it comes down
to timing. Is everything, right? It's not a good look
for the leader of the free world to step down
when NATO's going on, So the NATO summit, I think
is really influential. Some people are also saying that it
would be better for the nominee to for him to

(03:49):
become the nominee before anything, before stepping down, so that
he could appoint his successor. But then on the flip side,
some are saying, well, sooner the better, so that it
could be a mini primary. But the problem with that,
you know, it would make the candidate look more legitimate
and energize the party. But it's money, right, Money drives everything.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, and the money.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
The funding that Biden has got, which is I mean,
there's a lot of money there. They're filings, and then
where would that money go. The most likely candidate is
VP Harris because she's on those filings for that money,
and so the money would be easier for the money
to flow to her. But you know what it would be,
things would shift from the lesser of two evils to

(04:33):
good versus evil election more likely to beat Trump. But
the reality is, and I hate to be blunt about it,
we couldn't elect a white woman in twenty sixteen the
way America is these days, given you know how Trump
has stirred things up. Could we really elect a black one.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Now, I don't know, i'd like to think so, but
I kind of get the feeling that come Novema forty
five just might be back. Donald t could be your president.
And that's a fairly scary thought, really, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's terrifying. And so you know, keep that room open
at your house.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I make you that, all right, Amy, on that note,
we'll love it, Leave you and we'll catch you again
next week.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
All right, sounds good. DKA have a good one.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
American Correspondent Amy Taylor joining us out of DC. Out
of Washington, d C. Prime Minister on his way there
as we speak.
