Gentlemen today, what can had of for you?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Time to talk fruit and veggies with David Stewart. The
fruit are actually before we do that. You were an
Eaton Park last Saturday night. Enjoyed the rugby no doubt,
big Blues fan.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Oh no, I didn't really mind who was winning, Brian.
Good crowd, good atmosphere, great crowd, good atmosphere. M'm down.
All the kids from everywhere, you know, stopped the bombay
in their way up and there's all the Chiefs fan
full up. That was very very good. Good game of football.
Referee was great because he didn't blow his whistle too often.
Yeah that's true. Actually stop Yeah no, it was very good,
good crowd, it was lovely, very good atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
But being you know, born of bread Auckland, you'd be
very happy.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah yeah, no, no, but it was good. Good to
see they played well. Bitter team one.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
All right, that's that's our sporting chat. Let's talk fruit
and vegies and coming to work this morning. I don't
think I've ever seen broccoli a certain supermarket just down
the road from a studio. They had ninety nine cents
a head.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yes, we're a dollar, yes, right, I don't know the
ninety nine. You're always going to pay, that's right, You're
always going to pay. Be honest. It's just a dollar.
That's why we're one dollar one day. But yeah, no, no,
it's very very cheap.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Why.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I mean, lots of product around Brian. You know, the
weather has been good, as we keep talking about, and
broccoli has just come on. It's going from everywhere. You know,
Napier givesbon Pokak, Oakley's down south. You know, Horror for No.
Two was the whole country getting. Everyone's got lots of
brood for you.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
So there you were going.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Honestly, you sit and look at the broccoli. It's beautiful
looking broccoli. The whole lot of it is this lovely,
lovely broccoli. And I said, every day I think, God,
you're beautiful, you know, stunning. The Coulie flowers are the
same too, you.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Know, Oh the man that makes love to broccoli.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
At the market. So they said, what about this cauliflair
hea David. I said, no, no, it's a bit fluffy,
you know, And they said, what do you mean? I said, well,
look here's this head here from New Plymouth, and here's
this one here from down Parmis North and soul Is Coulieflowers.
It is the best. It's heavy, it's nice and solid.
Now that it was fluffy, you know, and David bloody hope, So.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
You don't want a fluffy colleague.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
No, if it's funny, it looks funny and Colieflowers still
good buying, as that's reasonable. Yeah, you gonna up a
little bit, but no, it's still good buying. All the
green vegies right across bards, celery leaks, cabbages, you know,
Brussels sprouts are very nice at the moment, here we go.
How to cook your brussels. Please do not overcook.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Them them with a little bit of bacon.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Slightly beautiful, chopped up again. Lovely looking vegetables, you know,
just walking and just you get blown away by the vegetables.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Would the weather bomb that's kind of hit the east
coast Gisbon region the last twenty four hours to take
a bit of hit leader down there. I've got big glasshouses.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
And yeah that and oranges and mandarins are coming from there.
At the moment, not so much the orange and mandarins though,
and years gonna be interesting, you know, Hawks Bay again
getting whacked around. Yeah, and would wait and see what happens.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Right on the fruit.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
On the fruit front, oh, good supplies of apples, pears,
Kiwi through gold and green. You know, mandarins are still
the New Zealand oranges. Starting price is a little bit
higher than the Aussie ones and the American lastly American ones.
But that's okay. You know, there's always something there but
good fruit, good quality fruit. Bananas, imports supplies that these
numbers aren't as many as well there normally are, but
they're being spread around. Everyone's got enough to be right there, ozsie, beans, ozsie,
(03:05):
cause yet's melons, grapes coming from the States arriving hopefully
this week or next week, hope. But it was short
one there on grapes. But that's okay.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
It's hard to believe that, you know, we're virtually into
the month of July, yes, past the shortest day, and
here we are still talking really good value.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I know. Yeah, tomatoes are up, but then that's normal
for this time of year. You know, capscums a bit
the same as ossie capscums arriving this weekend too. But
yes it is. There's beautiful supplies or good supplies of
beautiful vegetables and it's nothing the grizzled about it all, mate, No, absolutely,
always the same, always.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Good news on the fruit and vichy front. That's David
Chew and our fruiter.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I have a good one, David, say Brian, thank you.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
