He is tooking league now on the show. Another narrow
defeat for the Warriors in the NRL, edged out on
Friday Night twenty eighteen by the Raiders in Canterbridge, sprite
erasing a fourteen point deficit to tie the game midway

(00:23):
through the second half. Joining us on the CSP this
morning to look back at that match, former Warriors coach
Frank and a cop morning.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Frank, Oh, good morning, Brian, come back.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Down to earth mate.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Have you always got the feet on the ground? Mate?

Speaker 1 (00:38):
It was a hard stop or really in a way,
wasn't it?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Well? It was a good game to watch because of
the closes that so, I mean, you know for a
side to be down fourteen nil and it's happened at
Canberra a number of times between these two teams and
to come back fourteen or have a chance of winning
the game and the obviously missing the kicks that ye
had everything?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Really yeah, fourteen zipped down early. What do you put
the slow start down to them? I've seen that in
the past with Warriors, haven't we Well?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Not just the Warriors, I think Roan. You see it
with a lot of traveling teams where the commentators normally say, oh,
they're still on the bus. You know, this happens, and
you know, and once they get into their rhythm and
they come back, they proved to, you know, show how
good they are now to be down fourteen nil and
come back to fourteen or with the shows that they

(01:32):
got the five pound and win and they went so close.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Unfortunately this game is going to be remembered for the
three miskicks, but really I think the slow start compound
of the whole situation.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, that's that was some positives, Frank. Both Mitch Barnett
and Kurt Capele were backing up from Origin duty for
the Warriors, and both of them scored tries in the
second half. So they showed a lot of heart, didn't they.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Oh look, it was so pleasing to see them play.
You know. I was impressed with both players. I thought,
really Mitchell Barnett was our best player. I thought he
showed and he really carried on to what he did
in the State of Origin. He's one of those good
tough baggers that you're need in a team. And he's
got a heart behind him, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
What have you noticed as the biggest changes from the
Warriors from how they played, say, last year to this season.
Have you noticed any major changes?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
No? I just think last year, if you remember back,
we went through a year with very little injury, and
of course you just get more of that continuity, and
they were consistent and they were playing well every week.
This year, there's been a little bit of disruption here
and there. They've had a couple of games that they
should have won that they didn't, and yeah, it turns

(02:51):
what could be a good year into an average year.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah. As a former coach, when the playoffs are slowly
slipping further and further away, do you think it's time
to give a few, maybe of the young bucks more
playing time now to show their skills.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
No, not yet. I think you know, if you look
at the what have they got coming up the next
three games? They've got Tigers, Eels and Dolphins. They can
win all three of those. So you've got to stick
with your best team. And if they drop two of
those games and they're out of it completely year, so
go along with that. But a lot of young players
have been exposed for the Warriors this year anyway.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, that's true. I mean the Warriors now need to
win six of their last seven to make the eight.
Do you think they can do it?

Speaker 2 (03:34):
You can do it, but whether they will it'll be
a toss for it or no. Look, if you're a
bidding men, you'd say no, but you know you never
you never say no if you know, you try in
every game. And that starts with the Tigers at home
this week. And yeah, I think is it eels a
home game to Brian. I think both of them are.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yes, they are. Yeah, they are as well. So that
will probably help them. But won't it.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Oh no, it help them a lot. You know, they'll
they'll be, they'll be I should have won that, but
you know they won the next home games, the two
home God Deck, the two teams are playing are both
out of sorts big time. So now we're going to
go out there not just beat them, but have a
couple of handsome wins. No, you've got to support these

(04:18):
layers right through to the end. You know, they they
could they could still do it. It's a long chance,
but they could still do it.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Can you see some changes being made? I mean, I
t s may finally they could fall back or they'll
make a difference, wouldn't it.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Well, well, it all depends who comes back from injury
this week of course, and not being happy. You don't
know who's fitting who's not, and injuries ways play a
part in it. About how you reshovel. You know, pump
off the other day didn't help. And how bad he
is I don't know. So I know one thing. You
can't get into a game without.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
A goal kicker. No, I was just going to say,
that'll be the big work on this week, won't it?
Goal kicking?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
And see, Brian, you know I mean you know when
you in your ca IS practice, I can remember you know,
the kickers practicing they always had another two or three
going with them, you know, so just in case. So yeah,
it's something that every team needs. A goalkicker is he
can win a game for you, So you need a
good one.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I'm game on Friday night. That'll be great at here
in Auckland. So good one, Frank, Thank you for joining us.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Mate. Thanks Brian, have a great day.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Well keep the faith.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
We really will up the
