Speaker 1 (00:00):
The gold Sport Live commentary of Super Rugby Pacific with
Habit Health, tackling all your eggs and pains from sport and.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Work talking Super Rugby now on the Country Sport Breakfast
on gold Sport where we've made it to the quarter finals.
All four games live here on gold Sport across the
weekend five past seven Saturday night. It'll be the Blues
hosting the Dura joining us. Out of the Blues, it's
the man wearing the number ten jersey, Harry Palmer. Morning Harry, how.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Are we going?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Very well? Thank you? More importantly, how are you feeling
and how's the team feeling?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Yeah? Good, it's an excluding wake, It's yeah, it's been
building really well and so like you said, it's finals
footy now, so put more edge in the environment and
boys had a really good training weekend, looking forward to
getting stuck in tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
What have been the key work ons in training this week?
Because the drewer, you know, they don't take any prisoners,
do they.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
No, they don't, which is probably quite good for us
at the stage in the comp you know, our discipline
hasn't been great and we've been trying to work on
that a lot and I think the key thing with
fijis you can't give them any ends to a game
and that they want to play. So you know, our
defense and discipline needs to be squeazy clean and we
need a true of the ball when we have it,
and you know, technically plays quite smart to not you know,

(01:21):
offer up any loose opportunities that Figi will you know,
everyone knows will pounce.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
On because you never know what they're going to throw
at you do they they play an unpredictable game in
a way.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, of course they do. And they're really good at
it as well, So you know it's something that obviously
we've got the experience of Vern having coached them, and
he's pretty cleared up to it and we are as well.
And you know, as well as an expensive game, they're
very physical ball carriers and we need to make sure
that we nullify them the best we can really and
you know it's our game is stick to what works.

(01:53):
But also you know, have that clear head when we
go and play these boys.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So you mentioned Vern Cotter. First year under the new coach,
Vern Cotdor, what what's he like? What have you learned
off him?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah? This has been good. I think Boys has taken
him really well. He's very funds up, like he'll tell
you between the eyes as feelings on things, and I
think that's something that us as players though, you've quite
a lot especially coming from him. So I mean he's
obviously given us a pretty you know, pretty free license
as players to see how we want to play this season,

(02:27):
and it suits the way we've you know, profiled out
as players and we're really enjoying playing under him. So
he's got a lot of experience. You know, every time
he talks to boys, always going to listen, which always
helps too. So yeah, this has been really good. Obviously,
he's a hard ass on on the small stuff and
I think that's where the Blues has sort of really
grown over the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Do you feel as it's an advantage playing ed Den
Park on your more or less your home ground?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Oh, definitely. Home advantage is massive. Yeah. I mean, at
the end of the day, you still got to beat
the tea that comes and plays and that's what we
focused up on. So we love playing in front of
our home fans and Eden Parks have come a bit
of a fortress for us. But you know, at the
end of the day, it's it's us first Dura and
we need to do a job on them.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
How much easier, Harry, is your job or when when
you've got a forward pack dominating like they have been
this season?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, massively. I think there's any game driver would know
that it's a lot easier when you're going forward. And
the platform we've been given off both scrum and line
out for a majority of the games has been They're
really nice to attend to be moving forward and gives
you a lot more options I suppose, on how you
want to attack and use your game plan strategy during

(03:43):
during the game. So you know, we've spoke about it
all year that our boys have been awesome and nothing's
going to change this week. We need them to front
up again and keep on going, and I know they will.
You know, they've been a really good week prep week
and they're really clued into potential opportunities for us. Comes
to Frow night.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
And for you, Harry, you've had a great season. Named
Player of the Year at the recent awards night. You'd
be very very pleased with that.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Well done, Yeah, thank you. Yeah, it's been nice to
nice to get some recognition. But like you say, it's
the team effort at the end of the day, and
our team has been, you know, really clicking at the
right part of the year. And as I said, we've
had we've had a good sort of build up to
this game and we're looking forward to getting stuck into
finals foot and seeing what happens.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Have you had any conversations with any all Black coaches
at all at the stage in the season.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
No, no, no, no, no, none of that. So yeah,
we're pretty clude into the job at hand, to be fair,
and you know, we're looking forward to trying to do
a job for the Blues region and for ourselves and
you know, one week at a time and you know,
really try and earn another Monday every week.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Fantastic. Harry, will go well tomorrow night at Eden Park.
Thanks for joining us, mate good Man, Thank you very much.
Harry Plumber here on gold Sport and commentary of that
match with Elliott Smith tomorrow night, five past seven from
Eton Park.
