Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the cricket field to the cow shed. It's the
Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Twelve minutes away from eight o'clock here on gold Sport
and the Country Sport Breakfast. Thirteen thousand athletes have been
in the bay in tuttling Are over the past. We're
competing in the Ames Games or a lovely story on
One Sport last night interviewing a lot of the kids
and there were some Olympians with their gold medals that
the kids could actually touch and hold on to. Kelly

(00:27):
Shishka joins us organized for the Ames Games.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Morning Kelly, Good morning, Brian, how are you today?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Very well? Thank you. That was a wonderful moment for
the kids, sort of meeting some of their heroes, the
gold medal winners that actually competed in the Ames Games
a few years ago.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah. Absolutely, it's a pretty special, full circle moment. Actually.
I was so grateful to those Olympians for their time that.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Alisa Hoskin previously competed at the Ames Games in multi sports,
so to have her back at canoe racing, you know,
just showing the kids that it is possible if you
have a dream that's pretty special.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And talking about pretty special, Rugby seven's the final I
think I believe is tonight under lights.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
At Rugby is under lights tonight the final at Bay Oval,
So yeah, really exciting. We'll have some food vendors and
face painters and live entertainment and stuff. So yes, if
anyone is around and looking for things to do, that's
the place to be tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Have there been any you know, standout schools in any
of the sports that have been held.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Oh, they're all doing really well in their in their
own way. I think plenty of plenty of tears and
triumphs our internet. Our local schools are doing incredibly well.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
So I think toad On are intermedia in terms of
you know, they've made the top sixteenth for netball, which
is you know, a big thing for their school. They
haven't done that for a number of years. Aulti Monte
intermediate Anti's looking intermediate amount of media are also going
incredibly well. So we're really proud of our local schools
and how well they're doing, and also their sportsmanship that

(02:06):
they're showing on the court and on the field to
it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I saw a lovely story about the first this year
is the first time that you've had orienteering for the kids,
it is.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, So look, it was an absolute vibe at the
Historic Village on Tuesday when we had to sprint orienteering.
We had about two hundred and thirty kids take part
in that, and a lot of these kids, you know,
had not done orienteering in a profit competition before, so
a really big moment for them. And then we had
the Rogaine up at McLaren Falls Park yesterday, which again

(02:40):
was such an incredible setting and a lots of kids
up there too, so so excited to have them on board.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
And the weather has played ball across the course of
the week so far, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I don't know who ordered the weather for us to
sweep Brian, but I'm very grateful to them. Yeah, really lucky.
Some stunning days out there at same magic.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
So just what two days remaining, Still a few sports
to get out of the way.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, yeah, two days remaining. A lot of the team sports,
you know, a lot of them wrap up tomorrow. Some
things are wrapping up today, you know, some mountain biking
and that kind of thing. I'm wrapping up today as well. Yeah,
so we're definitely at that pointing end of the week.
But that's when it gets all that little bit more exciting.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I think, yeah, absolutely. Is there any special sort of
closing ceremony playing like the Olympic Games.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Oh not quite, just because the sport's finished on different days.
It's a bit too stagged to keep everyone in town
right into the ends. That every sport does have a
metal ceremony and a podium at the ends when they finish,
So the ones that I've managed to get along term
will be pretty special.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Fantastic Kelly, well done and organizing, and of course well
down to all the volunteers, because there's hundreds of them
out there, aren't they here?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Absolutely, volunteers, co coordinators, referees. They really are the backburner
for tournament.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So yeah, absolutely, Kelly. All right, go well today and
enjoyed the last day.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Thanks Brian, Thanks for having us.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Kelly, Kelly Schuster, boss of the the AIM's Games wrapping
up tomorrow in the Bay with twenty five thousand plus
people here, mum's dads, grandma's, coaches, yes, supporters, volunteers, It's fantastic.
It's known away from eight o'clock this is the country
sport Breakfast
